For late night pizza in downtown after a music festival in Thompson's Point, we highly recommend pizza at the Lazzari. I had heard about it through a band's fanbase on Facebook. The huge pizza slice is available in cheese and pepperoni for $7. It's not on the menu. Kevin had the sausage & onion pizza. I had the cheese slice. The dough makes the pizza. Thin crust with nice risen crust- Kevin ate the crust. And he's never ate the crust--it's that good. It is thin crust, so keeping that in mind with the tasty ingredients--it is hard to share. I had the garlic pizza and asked for mushroom the next night. They gave me sliced Portabella and it was yummy. Service was attentive and fast. Went on a monday night. Seems to have gone downhill significantly. Pizza- excellent pepperoni. raw chewy crust dough, uncooked. Had to scrape off top and eat cheese and pepperoni with a fork. gross. Stopped into Lazzari before a comedy show at the State Theater across the street. Positives: 1)good beer options, 2) server was overall attentive and brought our drinks and check fast which was helpful due to our time crunch before the show. Negatives: 1) if you love loud pumping music atmosphere and people yelling to talk over it, you may like it. 2) cocktail ordered was expensive for the very little alcohol and creativity. 3) Pizza for cost and hype of this place is very meh. Tomato sauce little flavor, burnt half the pizza, 1 or two pieces of basil on the whole margarita and the pizza was quite small- personal size for $17. I don't expect perfection, but when most of what you do is pizza and you're paying what we paid, there are so many more options in the area. read more

This place is phenomenal. I love the ambience and the menu is quite selective. One of the best chicken cutlet sandwiches I've ever had on the focaccia bread. My only complaint was that once the waitress was gone it took a long time for them to come back, normally, I would not mind I would expect that at a busy restaurant, but it was quite slow. This place used to be one of my favorites, but unfortunately it has gone completely downhill. The servers are always kind, attentive, and clearly doing their best--they're the only reason this isn't a one-star experience. The food, however, has become atrocious. The pizza is, without exaggeration, the worst I've ever had. The crust tastes like the little balls of play dough they used to hand kids at Bertucci's while they waited for their food. It was dense, flavorless, and honestly inedible. Also, avoid trivia night unless your goal is to leave completely overstimulated and half deaf. The volume is so unbelievably loud that you can't have a conversation, and by the time you leave your ears are ringing. I put a five but I mean one, I just don't want to trash the place or the employees. Its a very nice place, the staff is nice and well meaning but the pizza is terrible. We ordered a meatball but it never came so I have no opinion on that. Our pizzas were drenched in cheese. I believe it was ricotta not mozzarella. The sauce was Mia and the pie itself was so under cooked they had to remake them and the 2nd time around it was no better. Of my 2 pies I only ate 1.5 slices. My wife the same. The place is so nice its a shame. The owner should take a drive to Wooster St. In New Haven and on the way stop at Santarpios outside of Boston. That trip would save this place. We love this place! By far one of our favorite pizza spots in the area. The wood fire oven pizza is always cooled to perfection. The service is always great and they are very helpful. The spot is fairly large, dark and plays great music. Perfect for a Friday/Saturday night. We got the Fried olives and ceaser salad. Two amazing starters from here. The olives come with a garlic aioli which matches perfectly! We got the pepperoni pizza with onions and the bolognese pizza. Both are perfect. The sauces are on point and the leoparding on the crust shows true effort into cooking these pizza. My personal favorite is the bolognese. The mix of the meat sauce with the crust and the cheese is something i would want to have every single day. They also have a pretty decent wine selection. Check this place out if you're able to. Wow. My margherita pie, purchased as my consolation for waking up at 3a, had a superb crust. Thin and airy, lightly crisp, placed on a pad to help prevent sogginess, and not dense in the least. Gorgeous browning and charring, too. On a Friday night at 8p, absolute peak, takeout was still ready in 9 minutes. I'm on a solo weekend, though, and I would've really liked to soak in the ambiance. Last night we stopped in at this pizza place around 10pm and it was such great service. The host was also the busser, the server and food runner. Honestly she was kill in it. She was wearing all those hats and with great service and timing. The bartender was also a big help to customer service as well, from what we noticed. They really handled the crowd great. We popped in Lazzari after walking around downtown Portland for a bit. It was so cute inside and we sat by the window and people watched. The grapefruit spritz was so refreshing. When Lazzari first opened in 2017, we were big fans. The cocktail program was creative and delicious, as was their menu. And honestly, over the first couple of years: both of those things only got better. They continued to add interesting options, continued to be a cool and welcoming space to hang out, and continued to have friendly and engaging staff. But as of the roaring 20's, Lazzari is not that place anymore. 1. They've changed the cocktail menu, and now it's kind of underwhelming. There's nothing here I couldn't get elsewhere. 2. They've changed the food menu, and now it too is kind of underwhelming. Also my calzones are always *very* bready. Like 2/3 dough: there was a giant slab of mozzarella directly in the center of it that slid out after cutting into the thing. Also recently I paid $2 extra for spinach (we joked about how there was more basil - three leaves - on top of the calzone then there was spinach inside it), and $3 extra for goat cheese (there was a tangy, watery substance under the slab of mozzarella, so I assume that was it). 3. Two drinks, two calzones: $60 before tip. 4. Finally, the seating. Those high tops are so uncomfortable. I don't know if the tables are too high and the chairs are too low (or maybe I'm just too short for them), but the only way we could sit to eat/drink was by hunching over our food the entire time. The booths are comfortable, but at our most recent outing here we were only allowed to sit at the high tops (...despite there being plenty of other options). Personally, my time with Lazzari is over. The fried zucchini comes with a homemade basil ranch dressing and it is absolutely amazing! The wood fired pizza is tasty. Mine was a little burnt on the side, but I didn't mind. The service is ok. Standard I'd say. Nothing that stood out. The lighting is low and the whole place has an orange glow... gives off a cozy fall vibe! The music was all 80s/90s/early 2000s jams.
