After reading some very good reviews and some not so good reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. The pizza was ready exactly as promised (15-20min). The service was prompt and friendly, and when we got it home, it was really good! There were plenty of toppings, I thought the tomato sauce was very good and it wasn't greasy at all, like many take out pizzas are. Happy with the experience and will be back! read more

I really like this place. It feels like a pizza place straight out of the 90s except only in the means of nostalgia not hygiene. There is quite a bit of seating inside. The pizza is thin crust and has a reasonable portion of toppings that keep it from getting weighed down or too wet - which is optimal for me personally. The new owners have done a great job taking a traditional, staple business and making it a more modern pizza shop without losing its old charm. The description of this business refers to the ice cream as well as the pizza, so I'm writing the review here about ice cream only. I have nothing to say re pizza. I stopped by today, and they didn't seem ready to serve the public. I had to ring bell twice. First staff person couldn't really explain flavors or sizes and said he had something on the stove, so he quickly left. The second person was nice. The scoops are very small. Paper stuck to the sugar cone. It was not coming off, so I tossed it. The chocolate scoop had lots of crystals like not stored at right temp. Also, tasteless. I may be labeled a pizza snob when people see I lived in NY for a decade, but I grew up in Portland. I spent my summers on OOB pizza like a great many of us did. Given the plethora of choices, I had managed to never come here before. Out for a family drive on dad's day off, we needed eats after a stressful experience. I wanted pizza so Yelp lead us here. The pizza itself was not bad. We got the correct food, as ordered. The staff was nice and the shop was clean. The mushroom (for the spouse who loves them) was declared unremarkable and slightly oily in an after taste way she didn't find grand. My extra cheese was indeed cheese loaded. For me this crust resembles pier slices. It is a tad more doughy and yes, more oil is obviously there. It is edible, it is not offensive, it was made properly and cooked all the way as it should be. A 10in small is a healthy "personal" serving and I did eat all of mine. Is there better pizza? Probably, but since all taste is subjective to the person eating it, this is certainly acceptable for the cost and quality of what you get. It is a neighborhood place and my only wish is that they offered by the slice instead of just pies. No other complaints. read more

Pizza is chewy, dough-ey and kind of greasy. Toppings were alright. This is "greek-style" pizza which absorbs far more grease than crispy, tossed to order Italian style pizza. The meatball sub was o.k. but the meat itself was heavily salted and oregano'd. The location itself is old school cool, similar vintage as Pizza by Alex up the street. I don't know how somebody left such a positive review about their meatball sandwich. Perhaps, it was a family member. This past week I purchased their sandwich and was very disappointed with the presentation and value that I got for my money. Firstly, a sandwich is a pick up food. This thing was not able to be picked up as the bread was to flakey. The size of the bread was not consistent to be a sub or hero type bread. I was unable to determine if this bread was made by them or was it just a frankfurter roll stuffed with what they call meatballs. Michael's Pizza is a solid 3.5. The cheese and sauce are good but I don't like the crust. It's like they use bread dough and it never gets crispy around the edges. We tried the pepperoni and the spinach and the toppings are nothing special. I like it better than TJ's and the Union House Pizza Pub, but the Saco House of Pizza and Loui's are better. Other members of my family liked this pizza okay. It's a typical Maine-style pizza, which is what they were looking for. But I could only eat one slice. It was way too heavy on oregano, which is all I could taste. I am not too fussy about my pizza and usually enjoy just about anything, but unfortunately I loath too much oregano.
