While I miss the old Rover Bagel where we could watch the bagels being made and have a seat while we eat, I still enjoy being able to get a soft fresh bagel. When you enter a low rating, it asks what could improve. Reading the order and making the correct order would be an improvement. I had wanted to add pickled onion but saw it was $1.95, so I skipped that. We both got sea salt bagels, cream cheese-requested on the side, and add ons of bacon, at $2 each bagel. We received 1 bagel with bacon. Cream cheese was on the bagels and it was very little, parts of my bagel had no cream cheese at all. I guess that's why it wasn't on the side because then it would have been a decent amount. I kind of feel bad writing bad reviews and complaining, but I tipped them 15% and everything is so expensive now (ie. the pickled red onions). The bagels were $7.90 each for a bagel, very minimal cream cheese and bacon add on. I was going to leave 2 stars but the bagels were edible & 1 of the bagels was almost the correct order, & when my husband called & told them, they said they would refund our $2, so I landed on a 3. Hopefully we do get the refund because we don't have it as of writing this. I just wish I could re-do the tip amount. It's like giving a reward for not doing your job-anyhow, check your orders before you leave! I've always heard great things about Rover Bagel and I have wanted to love them too but I've found myself disappointed every time. Everything I have ordered HAS tasted good, however definitely not worth the price. I ordered The Shift Meal. It costs $16.00 for an abnormally small chewy bagel, smaller than my fist, with the thinnest possible spread of avocado and three pieces of bacon. It's a $3.00 up charge to add 1 egg, so I made my own egg at home to put on it because I could hardly justify $16.00 Never-mind $19.00 for a bagel. Overall, things taste good, the people working there are always friendly and kind, but the prices are absurd and ruin the food and experience. read more

Good tasting bagels! Tried this spot out since someone said it was like Bagelsaurus (another beloved sourdough bagel spot in Cambridge, MA). While Rover Bagel was good, it was not as great as Bagelsaurus. I liked that the bagels from Rover were sourdough, like Bagelsaurus. However, with Rover's, there is a definite char to these bagels which depending on the one you get, it can be almost too charred and crispy to your liking. I also felt like the size of the bagels was on the smaller side. Ordered online which was efficient. This place has a little window so there is nowhere to eat besides your car or wherever you drive these bagels to. Rover Bagel serves fantastic Montreal-style bagels and quite an offering of coffee drinks. We have enjoyed their bagels and bagel sandwiches quite a number of times, but I have neglected to review them until now. The bagels are fresh and really tasty. They make great bases for various sandwiches! I'm not a coffee drinker, but they make loads of different coffees, too. My only complaint about Rover is that when you order on line, it gives you an estimated pick up time and I have never gotten our order near that time. Usually it's about 15 minutes behind. But their bagels are so good, the delays don't deter us! The staff is great, albeit always a bit harried and busy. Tasty bagels, not that dense of dough, but densely crusted with a nice chew. Some blackening on the crust as well, but that's what they're going for; embrace the diversity. I didn't get as much wood fire flavor as suggested, but it's there; no complaints. I'd give the bagels themselves an A-/A but the overall meticulously and deliciously prepared sandwich constructions (usually the signature salmon number for me, vegetarian one for my wife) an A+. Classic Salmon: Thin slices of smoked salmon, pickled red onion, thin cucumber slices, capers, dill sprigs, with cream cheese. I like it in an everything bagel and I particularly love the mix of creaminess, sourness, and strong punch of dill that complement the salmon and bagel. Quality conception, quality ingredients, quality execution. Veggie Special: A thick stack with chive cream cheese, lots of thin sliced carrots and cucumbers, sprouts, perfectly trimmed greens and crispy fried onions. Service a solid A as well. A joint with long lines and recently named as one of the top bagel establishments in the country, it would be easy if not justifiable to have an attitude, but the staff have been great. No place to sit down but the overall complex does have a couch and coffee table inside the main entrance. Further down there's a bathroom as well. Good coffee by Tandem Coffee Roasters (Portland ME, an old favorite), so on an early visit I connected some dots and assumed the ginger molasses cookie was by them also (and I love Tandem's), but no, it's by Rover. Turned out to have even better texture: thick, crusty on top, easily bendable, and very soft and moist interior, with a fudgy brownie mouthfeel under the coarse sugar sprinkles on top. It's not always in the menu, but watch for it when it is. Big props for their $2 bargain bin of day-old pastries. I have been to Rover a few times now, and I have to say, the quality of their bagels are amazing. Since they are wood fired, there is always an amazing char to the bagels without them getting burnt, which really adds to the flavor of the bagels. Another huge positive of Rover Bagel is their chili garlic cream cheese which has the perfect heat addition to their bagels. All of that being said, I have to say that the bagels are very small for their price point. It almost feels like the bagels have gotten smaller since Rover had initially started business. On a recent trip, I got a plain bagel, as they were out of everything bagels, with chili garlic cream cheese...and I was just underwhelmed with the size of the bagel. My bagel was filled with cream cheese, which is unlike many of the other reviews, but since the bagel was so small, the ratio to cream cheese and bagel was not what it could/should be. Overall, Rover is good spot when you need a solid bagel on the run, I just wish that the bagels were larger for the price point. In any case, go get some chili garlic cream cheese, because that is certainly a highlight! read more

We love the food (and service) at this little local takeout window! Swinging through for a morning bite is incredibly easy, especially with the ability to order ahead through their Toast site! The flavors are always top-notch. This morning we got a McRover 2.1 (a delight) and a Classic Salmon on everything. Mine was the salmon - and I would absolutely do it again. I normally ask for no onions, but forgot - it didn't even matter because the onions perfected the flavors! The salmon wasn't thin, over salted smoked salmon - instead it was a nice thick slice - i was stoked! The sandwiches come nicely wrapped so they transport easily. The only downside is the prices are a bit high - my classic salmon was $13. It won't stop us from coming back, but it was worth pointing out. read more

I love, love, love a bagel with blisters. That crackly outside thing that's crispy and sometimes messy? Love that. So then what kind of alchemy is this Rover Bagel with its crackles AND its wood fired bubbles? Perfect--the kind of gnaw and rip-at-it bagel that I love. I was there when they opened and ordered at the window but the vast majority of others also there early had clearly ordered ahead. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel for my husband and a salt with cream cheese for me. They were solid, and both were worth going back for. Rover has the best bagel/bacon egg and cheese I've had in Maine (and that's coming from a New Yorker)! The bagels are unique and absolutely delicious. It is only a pick-up/to-go window with no indoor seating, but it's perfect because you can order online and just go right up to the window. The staff is also always so friendly and kind! I am ready to dedicate my life to the egg breakfast sandwich with bacon. It is the best food I've ever tasted , and I anticipate a real problem in my life, going my way to eat there as much as possible. Which particularly impressive is my first time there it took us. I saw 20 minutes to get our order and we got lost inside the building because we didn't realize it was a while my window. We were generally cranky and becoming pessimistic by the time we got our food. But the bagels are so freaking good. I came to Rover Bagel when they opened the first time and was disappointed then; I've now revisited their new location, and unfortunately I'm still disappointed. Ordering online is super easy and efficient; I appreciated getting a text when my order was ready, I appreciated that they made my coffee to order so it wasn't sitting around for any length of time. Also, the staff is so nice! But... 1. I got the vegan coconut treat latte and, for me anyway, it was undrinkable. It had no flavor (didn't taste like coconut or coffee); actually, it mostly tasted like iced milk which is strange since it was vegan. I would have said something to the staff, but I was already on my way out of town when I took my first (and last) sip. 2. I got two different bagels ($2 a piece). Both were on the smaller side and pretty anemic looking in color (SIDE NOTE: only after I wrote this review and uploaded my photos did I realize they actually didn't get my order right, and gave me two of the same bagels. Anyway...). Do they not toast the bagels here? My bad if I was supposed to ask for that! I also got two different vegan cream cheeses (at $2.50 a piece) and there was barely anything on the bagel (photos for proof). The cream cheeses - vegan chive and vegan chili garlic - were DELICIOUS, but again there was hardly any on the bagel. I feel like I essentially paid for soggy bread with a suggestion of a flavor. This is my favorite bagel place in the Biddo/Saco area! The bagels here are unique in that they're chewier than usual and have a char to them but it's one of those things you just have to try. I lived in this area for 2 years and would always come here if I wanted a something special for breakfast. My personal favorite is The Shift Meal (bacon, avocado, caramelized onions, hot honey) which I get on an everything bagel. The salmon is also good as well. I thought about driving up to Scratch in SoPo, but remembered that Rover was in Biddeford. We were not disappointed. Wow. The bagels were amazing. Since we haven't ordered from there in a while, we got a few different things to see what was good and what the kids liked. First, the breakfast sandwiches were amazing. Updating as I've now tried a couple of their sandwiches and some cream cheeses, etc. As expected, their soft and chewy bagels make for awesome sandos. Brought the BLT & Shift Meal to the beach one fine day, and their breakfast sandwich with sausage another morning. The Shift had a lot of bacon and just a small smear (or very thin slices) of the avocado, and the BLT was a better balance with the sweetness of the tomato, but they're such damn good bagels it was hard to care. Breakfast sandwich was out of this freakin world. We've never had any issues with ordering. We roll down there around the time were supposed to, usually building in a 5-10 minute delay (on a weekend) to be safe and the "order ready" text is usually right around then. Easy! Our favorite thing is just to order some bagels (mixed feelings on their cream cheese flavors - chive is the fave, chili garlic not as good as I hoped for, honey and thyme was a bit sweet) on a Thursday or Friday so we have them for the weekend and can toast them at home. Giving 5 stars because they have great vegan options! I like the bagels. I always get the vegan chive cream cheese. The chili cream cheese was too acidic on our stomach. I would not, however, order drinks here again, we were expecting more flavor from the coconut caramel lattes. The first time we came, they drastically messed up and served us sour, warm, dairy cream cheese :(( but things were made right in the end and we went back. OVERALL A GREAT PLACE - the location is slightly hard to find but your GPS will take you to a street, it is at the bottom of the hill. Thank you for the vegan options, Rover. The bagels are really good, but at times they go way too light with the cream cheese. I think it's worth it to get extra and that I usually what I picks. There are some days where the cream cheese taste better than others but I do love the lemon thyme cream cheese. This place is a joke. Sure, the food *tastes* good, but unless you enjoy spending a fortune on a snack-sized meal, avoid it. I ordered a bagel sandwich, and what I got looked more like a sample. It was **so tiny** that I honestly thought they forgot part of the order. To make things worse, I had to wait an **absurdly long time** for this minuscule portion. I'm not sure what takes them so long--maybe they're pretending to stuff the bagels with endless ingredients (spoiler: they aren't). You'd think they were crafting something gourmet back there, but what you get is a bite-sized disappointment. For the price they charge, the portions should be *at least* double what they are. Save your time, money, and patience--there are plenty of places that know how to balance good taste with decent portions, and this is not one of them. 1 bagel sandwich with 1 piece of lox smear of cream cheese and 2 cucumbers =$13. Are you kidding me. Those are Manhattan prices for a third of the portion. I mean ridiculous. I felt like returning it !!!!!! And the. Meh - definitely disappointed. I had suchh high hopes for Rover...I love a good bagel and this just didnt deliver. $8 for a coffee and bagel with chive cream cheese would have been ok if it was great. Not the case here. The cream cheese was very, very light (see photo). I had the bagel toasted but it was limp and kind of mushy. The coffee was just ok. All in all, a sad way to start the day. read more
