Let the the sad emoji's be the visual component that shows our babies' response to the cold mediocre bagel experience.

8am on a Friday, ordered a dozen bagels. Received a dozen stone-cold bagels for like, $35. Stale, cold, small, old bagels. Attempted to call to ask if this is standard for the location and the number is disconnected. What a disappointment. I would have preferred a bag from the supermarket, or I guess Dunkin-Donuts. I hear they have hot bagels there!

Still love this place. My food is always warm and my order is always 100% correct. It's a really nice touch that they bring your order over and hand it to you directly. Excellent service and good eats--what more can you ask for?? I recommend the pulled pork home fries, BLT sandwich, and specialty cream cheeses.

Of all the Mr. Bagels in the area this is by far my favorite. I have 2 others hat I could choose from all a bit closer but alway come to this one . The biggest reason I come here is the staff everyone is so happy and cheerful even really early in the morning. This place has a really nice seating area and great coffee. The sesame bagels have loads of sesame seeds. The same is true for the everything bagels no scrimping here. It's is clean and bright they actually fill the cream cheese to go containers not leaving big air pockets. They even wrap the smelly garlic bagel my dad likes in tinfoil so it doesn't make everything else smell like garlic. The bagel sandwiches are wonderful will keep coming back .

Flavored RedBull- blueberry pomegranate on the right and strawberry pomegranate on the left!

This is the best Mister Bagel I've been to in the entire state and I've been to a lot. I am obsessed with Mister Bagel and the Westbrook one is the reason why. First, they're the only one I've been to that actually will fry your egg for a breakfast sandwich and it never takes long! All of the others just microwave it. You can get them runny if you choose to. They're only $4 which is great. They also have flavored Red Bull (my favorite flavors are strawberry pomegranate and blueberry pomegranate). The staff is always super friendly and helpful. I never wait long for to-go orders and the iced coffee is always readily available. The atmosphere in here is great and a super local spot, but welcoming to newbies. They have gluten-free bagels and muffins as well. Their regular muffins are amazing and you can ask for them grilled! Whenever I come home from school Mister Bagel is a destination.

    They offer all day breakfast!

I parked behind Roots and realized it's a super cute place as I walked up. It shares the building with Green Tree Ministries. They might be one in the same? But they are definitely related. I walked in and saw all these books on shelves, and upon closer inspection, there was little cards in the shape of business cards that were for the taking. Each with a different Christian saying or a verse from the Bible. There was something for everyone. This wall of books goes between Roots Cafe and Green Tree Ministries... so I suspect. Well, I did grab a book ("Why Business Matters to God" by Jeff Van Duzer) and a iced Sugar Plum Latte (latte with a lovely purple blackberry vanilla foam). And I also got some chicken meatballs that were yummy and warm. The service was super nice. I thought the barista was so well hidden back there, though, I prefer when you can see the barista crafting beverages, I just find it neat. But that's okay, the ambiance of the place is warm. There is a huge meeting table, there is two different bar areas to sit, there's a couch corner, and tables. It's winter so I didn't see the outdoor seating, but I am sure it's neat. Food was good, coffee was great, service was kind, bathroom was super clean, parking was easy. I mean what's not to like? I LOVE that it's Christian. I felt so included and loved. I enjoyed the ambiance and the people around me. Some reading bibles and doing study, others just enjoying the good food. I also had a brownie that was quiet tasty.

Looking for a Saturday morning coffee and breakfast sandwich we decided to finally check it out. Parking lot has plenty of spaces. Once inside you will see it is quite small in size, but does have a small amount of seating for those looking to eat/drink there. The menu boards were overwhelming at first but a large majority of it is their lunch sandwich/wrap offerings. I did appreciate the options you can choose from bread wise and other customizations you can make. Drink wise my wife went with The Lavender iced latte and I got the iced Snickerdoodle. Both were extremely flavorful and were well made. Either one and I suspect any of their other drink would be a no brainer to get again. Breakfast wise we each got a sausage, egg, & cheese on a bagel. Which those came out steaming hot and were made well too. Will need to return to give their breakfast burritos a try! Service was friendly and both food an drinks arrived quickly. Also another note on service, when originally ordering they forgot to discount us for a BOGO deal they have going but when I went up to grab the drinks they said they removed one of the drinks to make it right and apologized. This will be a spot my wife and I will return to for both the drinks and food. We did end grabbing 2 of the 3 window seats and do wish it had no painting on the windows so we could watch outside better. It's a space that isn't trying to be over the top or blow your mind with the vibes but they deliver delicious food and good drinks for you with friendly and fast service.

It was a scrumptious combo and I thought the bagel itself was a very good bagel. Each addition is a bit pricey - $4.50 each for the egg and turkey bacon, for example. In general for their own specialty bagels or for a combo of three things you make yourself, you're looking at a $15+ bagel. However, said bagel also comes with an enjoyable ambiance. It's a bit indie/cutesie/intentionally lighthearted but very enjoyable. There are window seats to look out on to the street and a whole separate large room of tables that would make for a good place to get some work done if that is the goal. There is sweet gift section with the Russ & Daughters story/cookbook, t shirts, and clever hand-designed cards. The service was hit or miss - one employee was very attentive, another seemed annoyed to have to serve customers (although in a NYC deli, after which this place appears to take its inspiration, a little grinchiness perhaps makes the experience more authentic). All around, a few small negatives, but I really enjoyed my bagel and its surroundings, so five stars.

The whole interaction, from rolling up to rolling away with our goodies, took about 7 minutes. They had gluten-free bagel options which was a wonderful surprise, but they also were out of quite a few things - many types of bagels (both gluten-free & regular) & flavors of cream cheese. My bagel was about as good as any gluten-free bagel can get. I took a big whiff of my BFF's regular asiago bagel & it smelled fantastic. The iced lattes were a big hit & got us through the next 4+ hours of sitting in holiday weekend traffic. I would definitely come back if I was in the area again & I recommend this spot for anyone who is passing by on a road trip or becoming increasingly cranky without caffeine.

In the culinary craze that's taken over the city in the past 5 years, "artisan" bagels are part of the rage. With that, everyone seems to have their own list they'll fight over 'til death. I personally still haven't tried Purple House at which some people seem ready to trade their first-born for a bagel, but my own list starting with the ones I really could care less about is Forage, Scratch, Rose (tried in via the Food CoOp or something, not in-house), Union, Mr. Bagel. I'm sure this is borderline trolling to some Portland bagel eaters, but that's where I stand. Is it the best bagel in the world? Certainly not. But man, does it hit the spot for this guy in a way that Forage never can, and saving some money is a nice added bonus. I grew up going to the Forest Ave location most often, back in the OG Rick Hartglass days, but find that particular location a bit of a pain to get in and out of (I mean, who voluntarily wants to drive Forest Ave in general?) and the parking lot can be a zoo on weekends. They also have a ton of options there, deli sandwiches (love the sports names like the Danny Ainge), tons of breakfast sandwiches and burritos. That's all good, but it takes them a while to make those things, whereas the S. Portland location by the mall has a huge lot, and not as many options for better or for worse. I'm personally just here for the bagels, so that's my go-to. I'm sure Bon Appetit will keep sending all the tourists to Rose Foods for an $8 bagel, but I sure hope Mr. Bagel has a loyal enough following to keep it up for a while longer.
