It pains me to do this. As I've written before, I loved this place. Great food. Great prices. Great service! Well.... It used to be all of those things... I am not sure if it is the COVID work shortages, or changes in vendors, or what, but this is far from the same place it once was. I still frequent it almost every Sunday, and let me tell you, this place is currently a mess. Let me outline the last few trips for you: 1) on one trip we ordered a bagel with cream cheese, the cream cheese was either frozen or bad, it was all crystallized and not edible in my opinion. Sadly we discovered this after driving for 20 mins so going back was not an option. 2) about three trips in a row, my breakfast sandwich, supposed to be on an Asiago bagel, was on an English muffin. Luckily those times I noticed before leaving the lot and turned back to wait in line again. 3) just this morning, my breakfast sandwich was on a plain bagel, not an Asiago, but I noticed too far down the road to go back. Mind you, this is after I already had to pull a U turn in the parking lot because they forgot one of the drinks. Not a huge deal, but it's the lack of attention to detail that is really upsetting, why repeat my order back to me, if it's going to be wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME?! Add this in with the fact that their bagels seem to have shrunk, are hard as heck, and that the service definitely is not done with a smile anymore (I always feel like I'm putting them out by ordering), it's just not the same as it once was. I know this happens. It happens everywhere. I just wish that this once perfect place wasn't one of those stories. Maybe it's just a lack of caring. Who knows. But something needs to change.

Coffee By Design coffee for $2.00 and a biscuit for your dog. Something for everyone on the go besides java and still going strong for 10+ years at the same location.

Let's start at the beginning- Just because the roll-down…read moredoor is closed doesn't mean the bagel shop is closed. That was my first error as I went by this place a handful of times. It's wasn't until I saw someone emerge from the double doors to the left of the roll-down that I realized that the business was open. Not that they need any help getting people inside (it was HOPPING) but a sandwich board outside perhaps would show that the business is open inside? I went in and immediately everyone was friendly and chipper. Ordering was simple enough but be prepared, they sell through some things, understandably as this place is very popular. I got an espresso and a toasted herb bagel with plain cream cheese. Ive been all over Bath, Brunswick, Rockland, and Camden and was convinced that the New Englander's palates were shot. Not a single business has served me a decent espresso. Not a single one until I stopped at Dutchman's. FINALLY a bright, clean shot that doesn't taste like someone put a cigar out in it. Everyone needs to take notes. THEN we get to the bagel....didn't think I was about to have the best bagel of my life, yet here I am. Light, toasted, slightly chewy but not heavy... jeez. Can we talk about the space? It's gorgeous. Airy, cool, industrial...but the people running it make it feel homey. We can talk about the restaurant they're putting in next door too but let's be realistic, if they use any of the blueprint they're currently operating off of, they're not going to have any issues (Omg the pizza oven!) The view alone will stop you in your tracks. I'm all in on Dutchman's. I bought the merch. I have a tee shirt and a beanie and the only reason I don't have a hoodie is because they were sold out in my size. What else is there to say... 10/10 No notes.

The space is very unique, a very comfortable, open place to enjoy some coffee and a bagel. The bagels were decent for the area, but not my favorite type of bagel (a little bready). I thought it was a little pricey for what I got, but with a line as long as it was, Dutchman's can justify the prices. I'm picky when it comes to bagels, so my rating is reflective of that. I am of the opinion that New York/New Jersey bagels are the pinnacle of the bagel world, and the further away from New York you get, the harder it is to find somewhere that gets close to meeting that standard. I'd still stop by if I'm in town again, as long as I get there before the big morning rush. Not sure it would be worth the 20+ person line.

But it looked like a large cafeteria almost inside. Lots of windows and lots of tables. The line went quick. The human at the counter was polite, quick, and answered my questions. When my food came out, someone came from the back and handed it to me with a positive demeanor. Loved that. But the food was just okay. It looked better than it tasted. Very quick though, and I appreciate that when you are on the move.

The pictures of the bagels and bagel breakfast sandwiches was a big selling point. Once we got inside and saw the specials board it was an even better choice to swing in. For seasonal drinks they had a honey cinnamon latte as well lavender latte. As well as their current seasonal cream cheese being honey lavender flavor. Line was long and place was packed by the time we got here but line did move quickly! My wife got a salted bagel with the honey lavender cream cheese and an iced lavender latte. I got a plain bagel breakfast sandwich with sausage and an iced honey cinnamon latte. Despite the line moving quickly the wait for our order did take significantly longer including many who ordered after us receiving food and drinks quicker. I think we would take advantage of online ordering next time! Both drinks were tasty and bagel breakfast sandwich was tasty. My wife loved the cream cheese but wished the bagel was not as tough. Overall the bagels being made in their wood fire oven give such a great crisp. Despite not being our original destination they delivered a far superior experience than our first stop. I would return and look forward to trying even more from Forage!

While my food was being prepared I read the menu on the wall to the right as you enter. This is the menu to your back in you're facing the staff. I only then remembered they serve lunch sandwiches on bagels. At this point it was almost lunch and I was frustrated because the lunch menu sounded more unique and yummy than a breakfast sandwich. I'll be honest, their breakfast sandwiches are basic. If you can jazz them up with different cheese, veggies, etc., I wasn't aware and it's not immediately obvious. They serve Wicked Joe's coffee which is fun. It's very good coffee and I usually only see it for sale as beans in the grocery store. The space could use some TLC but it does the trick. Dine-in if you desire or get it to go!
