The Donut Hole is a quaint place with a local, family-style feel. It's your basic breakfast spot for a quick bite to eat; nothing fancy, although they have a nice selection of treats for all tastes. Prices are reasonable (we paid about $20 for 2 breakfast sandwiches, 3 pastries, and 2 bags of day-old donuts). Get there early for the best selection of pastries and baked goods (plus day-olds on the cheap)! A few more options for breakfast sandwiches would be nice, and they've only got plain cream cheese so if you're into different flavor combinations, keep that in mind.

I love supporting my local town business. I have been going to the Donut hole for years, to meet with friends for coffee, to bring my kids for a special treat. I stop here for their amazing pastries to share with family, friends and co-workers. My most recent trip unfortunately I was made to feel like I ruined their day. I entered and was warmly greeted. I was asked what they could help me with. When I told them I would like to purchase 20 of their cupcakes I was made to feel like I had ruined their morning. I have done this for the past couple of years. I buy cupcakes for my boss's birthday and this is not the first time I have walked in and done just this. I was reminded in a rude tone that the cupcakes were $2.99 each. Like this was to deter me from my purchase. The woman looked at me and said 20?? Yes please. Any of the flavors except for your maple walnut. I could see that this was bothersome for them. They had 2 of all their flavors in their display case they had about 20 flavors represented. I would have been fine with one of each to leave their display filled. The baker I assume stood behind me writing flavors down and made me feel like my order had ruined her day and I had done something wrong. I did say if this was an issue I would gladly take my business elsewhere my boss also lives the Cookie Jar in Cape Elizabeth. She in a rude tone said next time just order them in advance. I was shocked since for the past three years I have done this exact same thing. Walked in asked for 20 cupcakes and have never been given a hard time. It was a very early morning $60 sale. Would they have sold all of those cupcakes by the end of business day.. maybe? The kicker I buy them for my boss and co-workers to celebrate his birthday and I can't even enjoy them because they don't offer GF pastry options but I still go there. Why ? Because they are delicious, well received and again a local business. As always my boss loved and appreciated them but next year I think his birthday treats will be purchased at someone else's local bakery!

The Donut Hole is an establishment that I have driven by numerous times on my way to work, but I always forgot about giving it a try, until one of my students gave me reason to when I got a gift card! First off, there are not a lot of local businesses in the Buxton area, so I appreciate that the Donut Hole is an establishment paving the way for more local businesses to come to the area. However, the Donut Hole isn't just any local business. They make their own donuts, baked good, breakfast sandwiches, and they serve hot/cold coffee beverages. On warmer days, they even serve hard-serve ice cream! Looking to spend my gift card, I figured I would pick up some donuts to surprise my coworkers before work. I ended up getting a variety, and they certainly have a wide variety to choose from. Red velvet, Boston creme, powdered jelly, sugared jelly, chocolate glazed, maple bacon...I could go on. All of their donuts are incredibly fresh and fluffy. My favorites were the Boston creme and powdered jelly. Not to mention that I got 12 donuts for $8, which I thought was extremely reasonable given that they make their own. I will continue coming to the Donut Hole on my way to work. They have a lot to offer, and it is clear that they take pride in what they offer.

We stopped in here after passing by this location many times. After reading many positive reviews, my boyfriend and I figured we'd check it out and see what all the hype was about. Turns out, we never found out what the hype was. The ladies working were pleasant, but the wait times were very long and it seemed like it could've been avoided. When we were placing our order, we would list off one item and they would leave to go make it. I felt like it they would've had us complete our order and then went on to make it, it would've been a much quicker process. Instead they made our things one by one, which didn't make much sense. The sandwiches were decent, but nothing over the top but the price is very reasonable and you get what you pay for. Our iced coffees weren't that great and tasted like they were watered down. If we visit again, we will most definitely be passing on that. Our donuts weren't anything spectacular. Coming from a place called the Donut Hole, we expected more and unfortunately it all fell flat. The donuts were very crumbly and didn't hold together very well at all. One thing that we thought was strange was how the ginger bread and pumpkin donut tasted the same. We could not tell them apart whatsoever. Overall, the Donut Hole is just ok. I don't think I'd go out of my way to visit this establishment again, and even if I were in the area I don't know for certain that I'd be visiting then either. 3 stars for the customer service and reasonable pricing.

I also got an iced vanilla latte - thoroughly enjoyed the latte! Four adults and a toddler sampled a bunch of donuts - sounds like the start of a terrible joke...These are my notes on all of the donuts and not a consensus from the group, in no particular order. Woopie pie: 4 stars - good flavor and texture, nice way to begin this sampling experience. Bacon cheddar fried donut: 5 stars - delicious, amazing flavor, served hot, good distribution of fillings; would gladly have this again! Margarita: 3 stars - definitely taste the salt and lime, little bit of tequila as well; glad I experienced this, not something I'll go back for. Key lime holy cannoli: 5 stars - love the texture of the donut, light and fluffy, good lime flavor and enjoyed the cannoli cream. Creme brulee: 3 stars - good flavor, the crystallized chunks of sugar were a nice touch; I had high hopes, and it was alright but not life changing - that's on me. Maple: 3 stars - typical maple donut, not overwhelming with flavor but definitely knew it was maple. Maple bacon: 4 stars - lots of bacon, almost balanced by the maple. Blueberry lemon: 5 stars - really great lemon flavor to the glaze, blueberry flavor comes through the donut nicely; looking forward to having this again! Vanilla holy cannoli: 5 stars - again, love the texture of the donut, classic flavor with the cannoli cream; I would gladly eat a whole one of these! Chocolate sea salt: 3 stars - good chocolate flavor, didn't get much of the sea salt coming through. Pomegranate: 4 stars - very sweet, good amount of pomegranate flavor; could not eat a whole one as it would be too sweet for me. Honey lavender: 5 stars - mmm, honey and lavender partnered nicely, sweet but not obnoxiously so, loved how well the lavender flavor came through; I very much so enjoy botanicals in sweet treats and lattes. Toasted coconut: 5 stars - deliciously sweet coconut taste, nostalgic flavor of something my grandma use to make, I really enjoyed it! Such a fun way to bond with friends and spend a relaxing morning on vacation! Would gladly get donuts here again, and now that i know my favorites, I can be more intentional with my order next time

Holy Donut opened their first Portland location back in 2012, and they now have five locations around the state, including this DT location which is probably their busiest. The Good: *Vegan & Gluten-free offerings--but they're not synonymous! Check the fine print or ask. *Coast-to-Coast shopping options, including vending machines (we saw some at PWM). *Online ordering available for pickup. Tbh this is probably the way to get them, as you can skip the line and go straight to the back at the pickup window and just get your stuff right quick. You're welcome. *Donuts are made daily from scratch and feature seasonal and limited flavors. The Meh: *You'll most likely have to pay for parking at this DT location. *You'll also most likely encounter a large line to order from, depending on the time of day. When we walked by earlier before lunch it was HUGE, but after lunch it was down to manageable ±10 people ifo of us, and it did move pretty quick, as well. I mean, it is just donuts ffs. It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to decide. The Ugly: *Pricing is a bit obscene at ±$5/ea, but it's to be expected in a extremely popular area full of tourists and cruises. *Take this with a grain of salt, as I'm very particular about donuts in general, but I found them to be very heavy and just OK. Also, the flavors could've been punchier, as I found the taste a little too muted for my liking. Conclusion: Definitely not worth a long wait or the price imo, but if you're in the area, the line is short, and you have $5 burning a hole in your pocket then I say go for it. Because, evidently, I'm in the minority judging by the popularity and reviews. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She told me to get their honey dipped, which is probably the last doughnut I would have gone for had I been left to my own devices. But like, if I'm getting one, I'm getting two and if I'm getting two, might as well get three. So I also ordered the blueberry fritter and a pumpkin spice.
