As someone mentioned everyone has their style and taste profile for donuts. This wasn't mine. I had heard so Much about them and I love donuts so I stopped by around 10:30AM to try them. The only flavors available were cinnamon sugar, lemon blueberry, sprinkles, & Maine blueberry. I tried the lemon blueberry. They are very heavy and very dense and dry. The only slight sweet taste was in the light lemon blue berry glaze and it didn't taste like either lemon or blueberry to me. Bottom line. I tossed it after 1 bite and wasted over $5 for 1 donut. I was only here extremely briefly to grab the Cherry donut that I saw was this month's special. and then I had to run to get somewhere ten minutes away in 3 minutes time! Oopsie! But I will say, line moves quick. Cashier was smiling and eager to serve, my cherry donut was still in stock, payment went through without issue (yay Apple Pay tap!) Thank you! The cherry donut was really good...BUT!!! I'd suggest to put some cherry juice and chopped cherries inside the donut, not just in the glaze. If you haven't been to a holy donut yet, what are you waiting for?!?! By far one of the best donuts I've ever had. They're so fresh that getting them early is almost a must, although I've had a few afternoon snack donuts and they're still fantastic. In a world where ultra sweet, overly complicated donuts are all the rage, holy donut keeps it fairly simple and lets the donut speak for itself. This location was really accessible with a nice big parking lot and a large storefront. We got there right at quitting time and the staff were still welcoming and helpful. read more

Donuts are like pizza for some people. Really depends on the style of donut you prefer. When I want a rich filling donut, I enjoy a Holy Donut....or two ;) This location is easy to find and when you are headed north bound, easy to zip right into the parking lot....yes parking lot!! Yay! Otherwise it's challenging to get in and out of, because of the 4 lane highway rt.1 even though it's "Pleasant" Street" traffic is never pleasant...and for the love of all that is "holy" do not try to turn any way other than with the flow of traffic. They have a drive through...which is great, however, you can't see what they have in the donut case. I guess if you ordered ahead of time, it would be so easy to just drive through. An upside of the drive through is you don't have to stand in line waiting behind people who can't decide what they want. Watching the staff while waiting in line is interesting. They seem to be so patient...waiting and waiting.... before the customer finally decides. LOL The staff we have interacted with have been very nice. When in town and some calories to spend, we love stopping by for a treat. read more

What a great donut location! We usually go to the one in downtown Portland, but on this day we just happened to be driving by this one so we decided to stop by. We were there near closing time, so just about everything was packed up inside the store, but they were still serving donuts. The staff were friendly and helpful to make sure we got all the donuts we needed!!! :D If you got time, walk to the bathroom and read the story on the wall. Don't be concerned because they are "potato donuts" - they are delicious. Great consistency - just a tad less sweet. Service and ambience was nice and the coffee was fantastic. So I heard people rave about the holy donut so I actually drove by and saw it was open for a change and I decided to stop in and see what the hullabaloo was... Wow, at over four dollars a donut I am in all they were remarkably disappointing. They taste like an old potato pancake with some kind of odd flavored glazes on top. I got a espressos one which wasn't too bad, although the donut still tasted like an old potato pancake, and I got a blueberry one which was worse.... Had to throw it out.... Honestly the absolute worst donuts I have ever eaten in my life when you eat donut you don't want to taste four day old potato pancake flavor. I cannot imagine why people rave about this. Go to Tim Hortons if you want donut if you want potato pancake, then you'll be happy here. read more

Super friendly service, delicious latte and of course, the donuts! My husband and I were visiting Maine and read about these interesting sounding potato donuts, so we had to check them out. We went two separate days: first day we tried the Apple Cider and Blueberry glazed donuts, second day we got a Vanilla glazed and a Toasted Coconut (my favorite). All were moist, appropriately sweet with a nice crunch on the outside. The coffee at our hotel seemed to lack caffeine, so I threw in a latte with 2% milk each day as well. My husband loves this place and took me to have them fresh this morning. The regular donuts he has brought home I find very heavy, though the flavor is very good. I have been down Pleasant St thousands of times and did not know where it was. The sign is very small and does not draw attention. Nice building and easy in and out considering how busy Pleasant St is. My first impression going in was the smell of grease. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was very surprised that the Bacon & Cheddar filled donut did not contain nitrates, so I could order it! It was very good and filling. The dark coffee was delicious. Very pleased that The Holy Donut has come to Brunswick. The service is quick and friendly with ample parking. The store is clean and cheery. The only downside is that this location is on Pleasant Street, almost always congested. For a donut place, it is on the opposite side of the street from the morning commute. Still the donuts are worth the traffic frustration. Fantastic find for those of us dealing with gluten allergies or wheat intolerance. read more

Awesome donut bakery in Brunswick. Great donuts. I had the blueberry glazed, blueberry lemon glazed and chocolate sea salt. They were all fantastic. They are potato donuts that are kinda like a cake donut, but fried too and lighter. They are crunchy on the outside and light and airy on the inside. The flavor is fantastic, so honest. The staff is fantastic and helpful. Lots of gluten free donuts. It is not as good as the one in Portland in the olde port, just because of the location and ambiance of the old building by the harbor. read more

Long line that moved quickly gives you enough time to decide what donuts to get. We got the pumpkin because it was seasonal and the Chocolate coconut. Both were to die for, very moist and tasty. Coffee along with them was perfect for the drive to Freeport. read more

I guess that's the potato but imo if the result is dry and crumbly instead of cakey then it's just an outdated inferior recipe. Well to start off with, it's clear that they don't want to stay in business much longer. I stopped by the Brunswick location on Friday morning the 9th of May. I asked at the drive through for an unsweetened ice tea. I was told that they don't brew tea and I could get it in a bottle, fine. I then asked for a donut, just a regular donut and was asked if i'd like a chocolate glaze with sea salt, fine. I was not told the price and asked to pull forward. When I got to the window I was told that the price was just under $10.00. I asked, "ten dollars for a tea and a single donut?" That's right $5.95 for a single donut. and 3 something for a bottle of tea that tasted rather nasty, not bad, just poor quality tea. I was informed by the girl at the window that this donut is better than across the street because it's made with potatos. Well the donut tasted OK, nothing spectacular. Tea was nasty and the price was just outrageous for one donut. Sadly I won't be going back there just because its way over priced and no options for tea other than some nasty crap in a jar. Needless to say I will convey this the story of an over priced donut shop to all of my friends. read more
