    Arugula prosciutto pizza

The worst pizza ever, don't even waste your money! We had the same pizza (arugula prosciutto) 2 yrs ago before the pizza oven broke and it was good. Just had it again now that it's back on the menu and it was awful - stingy with the toppings and the prosciutto shown in photo was complete fat only in 2 of the pieces. Hardly any sauce and dry crust. Overall a bust! You're better off driving up to Oak Hill and going to Burano's!

    Latex glove baked into bread

Unsafe: Found the finger of a black latex glove baked into the bread of my sandwich. Management only offered to refund the sandwich. Shame on them.

First off this is not a place to go to if you're hungry. The portion size is for Hobbits. The good news is that the quality ingredients used here create some legit sandwiches and pizza. The beer selection and wine are both great if you don't mind paying 25% more than Hannaford, which is just a skip through the Shire at 3 miles away.

    Hot dog basket
    Eric S.

Higgins Beach Market has changed owners over the years and this past august we decided to try takeout for dinner on the beach. The fam went with a variety of options: I had the hot dog basket that came with fries that overall was very good and well cooked, fries weren't crispy, but they tasted almost hand-cut and I got a ton of them. We also tried their pizza-pepperoni that was about the size of a medium pizza when compared elsewhere size wise and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was- thin crispy crust and nice flavor. My wife had the Falafel sandwich which came on a baguette and said it was good, but a tad hard on the bread and she wished it had some Greek Tzatziki sauce which often comes with falafel. The smoked turkey sandwich was ok and came with a chili crisp mayo that was too hot for someone who doesn't do well with spicy and the crispy chicken bite basket was average. Beer local and craft selection was good and the owner there recommended a limited DIPA release we ended up trying. One thing I would appreciate they do in the future is provide prices on beer and what not- between two 4 packs it ran us over $37! (you are paying for convenience here but still, a decent markup compared to other prices locally for the same beer). Food was ready when promised for pickup on time and order came out as described. All in all we'll be back.

    A very cool market

Service was good. Surprised at price of lobster roll, over $26. Priced for the tourist not repeat business.

Limited menu items but the items on the menu were ALL amazingly good - so very much worth the stop!! We ended up getting the breakfast sandwich and I added sausage (which was crispy but not dry - perfect for the sandwich), a breakfast burrito, and a cinnamon roll with a whipped cream cheese frosting. (See photos) One thing I noticed was a lot of options for prepared meals! The location is great, tucked away and surrounded by nature. But it's not just a breakfast and lunch spot; inside, they sell Maine-made goods, including spices, kitchen towels, and other little things made locally. They also have a fridge with grab-and-go options. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring the food to your table. Breakfast ends at 11am, then it switches to lunch with sandwiches, wraps, and baked goods. The sandwiches are delicious, but they're on the pricier side at $14-$17, and the portions aren't huge. That said, I feel like you're paying for the vibe and location too, and at least the sandwiches come with tater tots (or a salad)! Coffee was really good, and they offer discounted refills. I also loved that they use local ingredients when possible, like in their the sourdough, which comes from Bread & Friends bakery in Portland. I had the turkey + arugula + fig jam sandwich and it was good, but they could really tone down the amount of arugula. Two other things I appreciated: the indoor dining area is super spacious, and there's plenty of parking. Will I be back? Definitely, but I don't think I'll be a regular given the prices.

They are also one of the few spots that does a breakfast burrito properly - unforgiving heft and totally stuffed. It's the best spot to grab breakfast and other provisions before you head over to the beach. For coffee: the iced drinks are decent; warm drinks are solid. They have a display of sweet items that should you have children with you, will haunt them incessantly until you purchase something for them. Service time is completely reasonable; young folk behind the counter making drinks and slinging food orders. Cute patio seating outside which makes it a favorite spot of mine, especially when the hydrangeas are in bloom! Lots of seating inside. The marketplace is dangerous. Although it's limited pickings, it's been carefully curated for elevated items from Maine vendors or other top brands. It's great spot to get small gifts for people (food, wine, other small crafted items)!

The LOBSTER ROLL was so tasty and absolutely bursting with lobster. It feels simple but flavor wise it is perfect. The HADDOCK CHOWDER on the other hand was the complete opposite of perfect. The haddock itself tasted very fresh but the base had absolutely no seasoning or flavor and so it tasted like cooked fish in hot milk. All in all, a good option for lobster rolls but stay away from the chowder.

We visited Maine for a day and I decided to make it a "who has the best lobster roll" kind of trip. I went to several places that are known for great lobster rolls but the value just wasn't there. Every roll was so small. On the way out of Maine, we saw Ocean House Market on the side of the road and decided to check it out. They don't disappoint. The roll was cold and fresh. The lobster had a natural sweetness to it and the roll was made with fresh, crisp lettuce. The market was quiet and it wasn't too busy so we were able to get served quickly and hop back on the road.

It did not disappoint at all and deserves all the hype/love it gets from the reviews. Tucked away in an area that is mostly industrial/business headquarters area. They had roughly 7-8 tables with some 2-person and some 4-person tables if you are looking to enjoy your food here. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and welcoming. They had so many tempting sounding breakfast sandwiches it was difficult to pick. I ended up going with their breakfast burrito and my wife got the Pine Point. Both were phenomenal and would be no brainers to order again, but with so many choices we would likely choose other new ones. My wife loved the bread used and the corned beef were perfectly made! The breakfast burrito was packed full with zero complaints. Drink wise we each got an iced latte, my wife got the mocha and I got the honeycomb latte. Both were very solid with a good amount of flavor to them. Lastly before leaving we each picked out a donut to have when we got home, a blueberry and a Maine maple.
