10-18-22 our shore trip to Kennebunkport gave us a 1-3/4 hour free time to eat lunch and shop. What a grand time since prediction of 100% rain never appeared. Hubs went to use the public restroom in the town behind Allison's. I went to Copper Candle out of all the surrounding shops. Lovely shop with Christmas ornaments plus cute Halloween adorables.q Going to add some nautical ones from here to our tree once we return to the 808.

This is a really cool little store. It's got every thing you could want! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, wine, beer, liquor, and much much more! We ordered HB maple Bacon wrap, HB bagelwich, and the bagel and lox. Let me tell you the portions are generous to say the least! Maple bacon wrap... holy cow, the maple bacon was a burst of sweetness, the eggs and grilled onions came in just enough to match the sweetness with some savory. Over all this was one heck of a breakfast burrito! My wife said the bagelwich was really good. She ordered it with the everything bagel. Bagel was tasty. The only critique would have been that the hash-browns were soggy from the fryer and the sausage grease. But over all a well constructed breakfast creation. Bagel with lox... I don't know why I am a sucker for this whenever I see it on a menu! I just have to order it. Everything bagel was as mentioned above was good, the bagel was covered in cream cheese, onions, and capers. Then some very generous slices of smoked salmon applied to top it off! Man was it a good breakfast! Can't wait for another.

Great spot for a quick bite. Very large menu of breakfast & lunch items. Bacon, egg & cheese in everything bagel came with 2 eggs and was SO delicious. Staff was very friendly! Highly recommend

Extremely overpriced for what it is. Go to Cape Porpoise Kitchen over this, if you can.

Good food for a quick stop! Hands down, better than a "fast food chain". And the staff were very nice and friendly.

The prices in this place are outrageous! I Do not recommend shopping here. It's not the same as it was under the former owners.

I swear the people reviewing this little deli are confusing it for the wrong place just based on…read moresome of the details in the posts. #1, there is no "cook" behind anyone. It is one guy running the deli by himself, and he is awesome! There are no "kids" running the cash register. #2, there is no guy with blonde curly hair behind the counter. I suspect this is because the location is falsely showing up as by the bridge, not around the corner in front of Abacus. Ok, so here is my review. Sorry no pics. We come from CT to the Old Salt Pantry just for their lobster rolls. A few weeks ago when we visited for a few days we went there *every day*, it is that good. My wife is an aficianado of lobster rolls and we know virtually every place, touristy or otherwise. And by far these are the best lobster rolls to be found. He makes a really good BLT sandwich that is among my favorites too! The trick, we once found, is that he uses a combination of clarified butter and a touch of mayonnaise on his cold lobster salad. Just don't expect to get a hot CT style lobster roll unless you ask for it.

I honestly thought I'd found a hidden gem. Kennebunkport in July is absolute chaos, and somehow…read morethis place was completely empty. I figured I'd hit the jackpot--an egg sandwich, no line, protein, perfect. I ordered an egg sandwich, was told it would take 10-15 minutes, and was asked to come back. No problem. I returned about 10 minutes later and quietly waited while my sandwich was being finished. I was the only customer in the entire place. The employee looked at me and said, "You need to wait outside." Outside? For what? The place was empty. When I asked why, he said it was because it was a small space. At that exact moment, two fellow tourists walked in, heard him tell me to leave, exchanged the universal "nope" look, and immediately turned around and walked back out. I can't say I blamed them. By that point I was so uncomfortable that I asked to cancel my order. He refused. So there I was--banished to the sidewalk in extreme heat, unable to cancel, waiting for my egg sandwich. I'll admit, my imagination started running wild about why I apparently wasn't allowed to witness its preparation. I'm sure there are innocent explanations, but being told to leave an empty restaurant while your food is being made isn't exactly confidence-inspiring. The sandwich itself was...fine. Perfectly ordinary. The proportions were not generous in terms of egg to bread ratio. Definitely not memorable enough to justify the price, and unfortunately I'd already left a tip before the hospitality portion of the experience began. If your business model is "Please leave while we make your food, but also you can't cancel it," you may want to rethink customer service. Kennebunkport has no shortage of places to eat. I'd recommend choosing literally any of the ones where you're allowed to exist indoors while waiting for your breakfast sandwich.

"Take me to the pilot, lead me through the chamber Take me…read moreto the pilot, I am but a stranger" (Elton John) Our convention committee was in town celebrating last summer's successful event after years of planning. Five of us headed for lovely Kennebunkport, but where should we meet for lunch? Choosing a lunch spot could've taken all afternoon, but a trusted local steered us toward the Pilot House. So that's where we met up -- and it ended up being a terrific lunch. It has a scenic location in a harbor on the Kennebunk River, where the whole waterfront is dotted with boats. The big dining room is equally pretty with colorful nautical flags covering the ceiling and maritime décor everywhere. Pilot House was packed, I mean pretty much every table and every barstool, but after a short wait a table opened up for us. Our server, Carley was great- with a super nice attitude and quick water glass delivery. Pilot House's menu has plenty of seafood options among its appetizers, soups, salads, baskets, sandwiches, and entrees. I went with their Fish Tacos ($19) - "Golden fried haddock, red cabbage slaw, queso fresco & house made candied jalapeño aioli. Served on flour tortillas". I asked Carley if I could get the fish grilled instead of fried, and that was no problem. I loved the tacos; the fish was plentiful, flaky and tender and that jalapeño aioli was excellent. One of the other meals at our table included an interesting one. Ever hear of a Haddock Reuben? It was $21.00 for a marble rye sandwich with fried haddock, coleslaw, 1000 Island & Swiss cheese. Not a morsel was left behind. Two of us went with a Fried Baby Shrimp Basket ($24), a huge feast of golden fried baby shrimp, French fries, coleslaw & cocktail sauce. We were seated in the far-right side of the dining room by a bank of windows, and I noticed what looked like a huge yacht connected to the restaurant by a walkway. Turns out there is a restaurant bar up there. I so wanted to scoot up there for a few photos, but it wasn't open for the season yet. Oh well, maybe next time. Just another reason to visit the Pilot Hose because the food and dining experience were top-notch.
