Just off the Maine Turnpike at the Kennebunk exit is this delightful (and delightfully unexpected) gas station/grocery/deli. We stopped by just for a fill-up -- it's a Shell station -- and went inside, discovering that they have a darned good stock of groceries and also a first-rate deli making good, fresh sandwiches and selling pizzas, meats. etc. You can also choose from a good selection of beers as well as coffees. So, come on by and fill up, whether it's for yourself or your auto. It's a nice clean interior with easy parking and access to the highway. read more

Live down the road and am in Cummings often. At the end of a 4 hour trip from Ma., stuck in traffic the whole way, I was so looking forward the steak and cheese sub I ordered... starving! Even went in and shot the shit with the staff while I waited. Drove home and opened my sub and it was somebody else's chicken sub with pickles and lettuce!!!!! Disgusted! Yes, of course I tried to call them yet nobody answered the phone. Very disappointed Cummings! read more

Have you ever heard of a wish sandwich? A wish sandwich, is the kind of sandwich, where you have two slices of bread... and you wish you had some meat! Ordered the Italian with salami and American cheese (the only cheese option?!?!), and it literally only had a few slices of salami and cheese... and this was the "large" version for $6.39. I'm staying at the Hampton Inn about a hundred yards away, didn't want to miss the start of the Stanley Cup final, and thought I'd just go pick up a sandwich... bad idea. ANY fast food place would've been exponentially better. On a positive note, the young woman who made the sandwich was very nice... hence the one star. read more

Fantastic - everything. Great deli- amazing pizzas. Fab wine and beer selection. Open 7 days- late hours. Gas right there, no need to drive anywhere else. Unreal meat selection with Rbutchers that cut your order. Everything is home made- I've seen them making the tuna, egg, ham salads. Great coffee selection. Ahhhh..... Cummings. The good.....always friendly, in a Maine sorta way! Convenient, contrary to other reviews I think the sandwiches are very good, clean bathrooms, exceptional maine craft beer selection & meats. Steak selection & quality is superb. Good breakfast sandwiches & convenient coffee in the AM. Very good lunch meats too! The not so good.....gas, wine & beer is expensive here-I'll keep going cause it's right by my house! Their pizza is the bomb!!!! The closest Brooklyn style w/o the NYC price! They sell by slice, as well. I don't know WHY it's hard to find La Croix in ME., but they sell it and carry the hard to find flavors. From the outside, it appears as an average convenience store/gas station. They sell small amount of fresh bakery and produce, assorted designer beer, if you want just one or grab more in the back. It's a cool lil bodega with the bodega prices. read more

The store advertizes that they sell coffee, and they have a prepared food section. They had a few empty pots and one pot of regular that looked like it had been sitting out all morning. When I asked if they had decaf, I was directed to a Keurig machine. The thing was pretty slow. I went to the counter to pay afterwards and was directed to the grocery store lines. I must have had the same cashier as the previous reviewer; she was rude. She didn't say hi to me. She was busy talking to someone else about how much she hates how people stereotype others based on what state they're from. She then glared at me. The sign said that large coffees are $2.20. She rang in $2.34; with tax, it was $2.53. When I pointed out the discrepancy, she told me that I got a large. I told her the sign said a large is $2.20. She told me about the sales tax. I just paid the $2.53. read more

Cummings Market is fast and easy to stop at especially if you're in a hurry. Still though the old Cummings Market by far was way better, friendlier, and I enjoyed going to. One thing though about this new Cummings is they have public restroom and their restroom is always clean. read more

This is an amazing store! They have everything you need, and are super easy and convenient! Good Subs, good Pizza, great meat department. The wine and beer selection is amazing for a little local store. Every time I run out of anything, Cummings has it. I have won a ton of bets with my wife, when she says "oh, they wont have that", but they do! We are very lucky to have such a great place so close to our house! read more

Wish they delivered, but that's really the only complaint I have about Cummings. They're a short distance from my house and have prices comparable to Hannaford. In addition, they have a decent selection of various goods and whatnot, and their deli/pizzas are actually surprisingly good. About to call them to order a pizza right now for my "Daredevil" marathon and noticed that they had 1 star which is decidedly undeserved. Also a huge fan of their tuna melts (which they'll make for you on request but I'm not sure it's on the menu). read more

I only gave Cummings market a star because that's all I can I would not have even given them that. And the reason being that the customer service in this store is absolutely horriable. I've been going to this store for many years yet everytime me or my wife go there were treated like we're criminals or something. As far as the food goes the pizza is just plain bad crust has bubbles and is like cardboard with sauce and cheese on it. The sandwiches are not that much better. Price ok well seems all there grocery items are a 20 to 30 percent markup. So if you want to be treated badly pay more for sub par food then yes I would recommend you go here. read more

Cummings is a historic establishment in the West Kennebunk area, havino been established in 1937. As for gas, they recently partnered with Shell. Fill-ups are quick, and there are many pumps. For those stopping by in Kennebunk on a trip somewhere else, Cumming's is worth the drive off the highway. They offer a wide selection of groceries, as well as sandwiches and pizza which are made in-store. read more

Cummings Market is a wonderful local establishment. Great quick food, pleasant staff, Gas, Craft and Macro beer. What else could you ask for? I frequent this place often with my mother who lives in Kennebunkport when I am in town. I have had similar experiences as some with the incredibly rude attitudes of the cashiers. I've been more than once in a day and had two different cashiers who were both extremely rude, to the point of me thinking it was something personal. Because both were much older and I'm not aware that I know them in any way, I'm guessing it's just poor management. The conveniently located store really doesn't justify them being way overpriced and rude to boot. Pick one or the other but both is a tad much. The subs are touch and go depending on who makes them and every time, it never fails, when I go to pick up a sub at the section marked "pick up" I stand, ignored for a few until one of the girls stops chatting and looks over and says "you all set?" Um... Nope, how can somebody be "all set" when they are standing under a sign that says "pick up" and have yet to pick anything up or even be acknowledged by anyone. It's like bizarro world in there.
