I ordered the mixed seafood basket for lunch. The fries looked like they were from 3 different batches, it had 2 pieces of one scallop, a few tiny shrimp, some okay fish, and 2 whole fried clams and a couple pieces of inedible clam strips (? I dunno, it was rubbery and thin). Really disappointing. read more

While visiting Maine I found Balanger's as a roadside whim. I had the steak bomb sandwich and I was very pleased the size of the sandwich and the freshness of the bread. The nice folks brought the food out to me after ordering so I was able to relax at my table and browse my phone. The vibe is very small town roadside diner-esq so don't let the simple surroundings through you off. It was a great satisfying meal! read more

Belanger's Drive-In - Steak Bomb & curly fries - American Near Me - Fairfield, Maine

Wish I could give it more stars . What a great lunch. Truly a family business We met the owner his wife and daughter, apparently the whole family works there with his son in the kitchen as well as Joe the owner. The service was perfect and the bacon blue cheese burger my is still a topic of conversation days later. Homemade buns and homemade burgers it was one of the best burgers we have ever gotten. The fried chicken sandwich was excellent they even have good tasting gluten free buns. The homemade onion rings were excellent as well as the chocolate shake. The shake was thick and very chocolatity. They were doing work on the grounds so it looks like it will have a beautiful outside seating area as well as a great play area for the kids. Unfortunately I did not take any photos. Definitely a destination food place . The fried fish platters look so good as well. read more

The service was great. Friendly, patient and easy to communicate with as they answered all our questions with grace and no frustration :) and the food... we got a regular lobster roll and the bacon cheese fri read more

Wow! Excellent meal. My husband and I each had the Haddock basket. It was cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. They have crinkle cut fries which are my favorite. Many of the drive in restaurants that provide a roll with their baskets serve up dried out commercial rolls. The roll that came with our meals was fresh and delicious. They have packets of butter out with the salt and pepper packets so you can serve yourself which was nice because I prefer a couple of pats on my roll. The service was friendly and our food came out quickly. We will definitely be back. Thank you! This is just what I hoped for on Mothers Day! read more

The homemade baked goods aren't even mid. They are gross. That and the prices are exorbitant. Food is how I remember it being as a kid, ok. The ice cream selection is on point, but there are better ice cream shops around. Nothing stands out as awful (except those baked goods) but nothing stands out the other way either. Bleh, meh, eh. read more

Call ahead of you can, that's what the locals do! There is plenty of parking and outdoor picnic tables. There is also a restaurant if you desire. I got a lobster roll because I couldn't get enough, your options are cold dressed with mayo or warm with butter. Small in a hot dog roll or jumbo. I inhaled mine sitting outside with travel companions who have to bring their own food due to allergies and health stuff. The restaurant and takeout staff are super nice. There is a tiny carousel for small kids and also a tiny fenced in playground for small kids and toddlers. Cute place. My lobster roll was delicious, next road trip definitely making this a stop! read more

The homemade buns and the hamburger is ground fresh daily that's insane. The customer service is amazing and let not forget the crinkle fries and the hand cut onion rings are perfect. There is lots of outside seating and inside not to mention the parking lot is easy in and easy out.The menu is huge and has something for everyone. read more

Place is amazing. Food is awesome. Just going to back out of the way, but you'll be amazed by the food.

We love Belanger's. Belanger's has the old school drive-in feel with great service and food. My only complaint with Belanger's is the prices are high for diner style food. But it's what keeps the place afloat for so long! read more

I absolutely love this place. I stop by almost every time I drive from Bangor to NH. Super friendly staff, GREAT prices and wonderful food---every time! read more

It's nice to have a place to go to in these insane times. With social distancing, call in your order and avoid dealing with unnecessary people and then just go to the pick up window. Portions, food and prices are all good; as well as the service. We can't wait to go back. read more

This was a great find. We arrived 40 minutes before they closed and it was never mentioned. Emily was amazing. She eagerly described the food and reiterated the homemade specials. We had meatball sub smoked turkey on a salad and the lobster roll. And cheesesteak fries and a cowboy burger. Everything was awesome. If you're on your way to Bar Harbor, this is the place to stop. Friendly locals as well read more

Good comfort food. My boyfriend loves the smoked sandwiches. I can't get enough of the onion rings and fried chicken.

I hate to complain because I know it's a small business, but I work hard for my money too. I had the puny fried chicken sandwich- 2 tiny chicken nuggets inside?! We all ordered fries with our sandwiches but were charged individually instead of "basket" prices. The frappe was milky/tasteless, ridiculously expensive. I'd rather have McDonald's. Almost spent $100 for 2 toddlers and 4 adults. Left hungry. Never again. read more

Lovely place! The food and the service here are always great. The prices aren't too bad either.

I've been here more times than I can count over the past 35 years. Typically I would give them 4 stars but they're starting to get out of ratio of cost vs quality and quantity. While fried whole clams are great but its now $20 for a pint. Regardless the pint is a much better deal than the basket which is my first real issue here. One complaint people have with a basket is the amount of fries you get instead of the protein. Belanger's has cheapened it even more by placing the roll in the basket. Makes it look nice and big but as you start to dig in you see that the majority of the basket was the roll right in the middle. A few fries around it and a few clams on top, we felt cheated. I'd go here more often but the value is diminishing. read more

Always a great place to stop and grab a pile of hot, fried, emotional support. Quick service. Tend to be skimpy on sauce so be sure to ask for extra. read more

Lobster salad roll was on a burger bun and not very flavorful. The onion rings were ok,, not the best but certainly not the worst I've had. The strawberry lemonade was good and had crushed berries in it. read more

Great road side spot for homemade comfort food during COVID. They have outside picnic tables. We brought our dog and they gave her a bowl of water. The meatball sub had French style marinara sauce, a little soggy, but it was delicious. The crinkle fries were perfectly crunchy and not too oily. read more

Great staff. They patiently explained a lot of things and made great recommendations all while being friendly. Lots of choices on the menu...some very eclectic so if you're adventuresome or what something new and different, you've got choices here. Lots of folks do walk-up and take-out. We ate in the little casual diner on the side. You place your order at the window but they remember you and bring it to your table. I've been here twice and everything was good. read more

SCRUMPTIOUS!! Fantastic I was in the mood for a great Haddock sandwich and this one hit the spot! SCRUMPTIOUS with the just right amount of fish to bun to lettuce ratio. My honey got the fried clam basket that was delicious. I had a few and they were SCRUMPTIOUS!! No Tartar sauce required! read more

Went there had seafood basket and got sick went and told the waitress about it and was to oh that's so odd Then she asked if I wanted to order something else I told them I was sick and was vomiting she said oh well have a great night read more

Basic fried food fare. Ice cream shoppe is open and is average. It is what it is. Easy access in town.

There comes a time in the spring when I start obsessively driving by to see if their sign says they're open. Always generous portions and delicious food. I have been coming here since I was a little girl and they are a staple in the area. read more

Good Food... Great in-house smoked BBQ!!! We stopped in for lunch today. My wife ordered the pulled pork and I ordered the burnt ends. Both was moist, very tender, and full of flavor. We asked for the BBQ sauce on the side which was perfect given the meat was yummy without any sauce. We also ordered a small onion rings (also hand made) and was enough to share. Would definitely return the next time we are in Fairfield!! read more

Wicked yummy seafood and chicken baskets!!! They also have a great ice cream selection.

Poor customer service. Teenagers working there give their friends 1st class service and put you aside.

Food portions are not comparative to prices and was told order would be ready in a half an hour and total time ended up being well over an hour read more

Good simple food. Excellent Turkey pie. Always very clean. Fast and friendly service. I highly recommend this hometown restaurant.

Very family friendly and clean. Kind/courteous staff. Probably wouldn't order the seafood again, but the ice cream was delicious!

I have been there a number time inside seating in to go.. while the food is fabulous and the service is quite good the ticket time is terrible always waiting a food whether it is full of people or not nobody...who wants to wait 40 minutes a food terrible ticket time.... may not go back because of it read more

I used to go here almost every week, I went for the first time since it has been under new ownership and disappointed is an understatement. I got the chicken basket and I had about 4 small pieces of chicken and the rest were all French fries and a lot were left over dried up ones on the bottom. I waited 45 minutes for my order as well. I'm not sure what happened but this is not the Belanger's I used to love. I asked 3 other people and that all said the same thing. Portion sizes have decreased and prices have increased. It's too bad that they changed a winning formula read more

Always a good meal! Love their chicken basket. Good portions. Reasonable prices. Recommend them!

We have gone here for years. have gotten a mixed seafood basket without haddock.the wife and I share a basket because in the past have not been able to eat everything in basket. today was first trip in couple months anyways, what a disappointment the mixed basket was. I eat shrimp and scallops and wife eats clams and we share fries.there were 2 whole clams and 2 clam strips. we never remember ever having strips in a basket, before she always got 5 or 6 clams. when I asked young man about it he said that is what is in mixed basket now. did not know about change in ownership. what a shame to raise prices and cut portions.guess we will need to find another take out that will serve up good food and good portions. too bad to start downhill so fast. read more
