We ordered chicken wings & a large pho that allegedly had three kinds of beef in it. The wings were excellent: properly seasoned & lightly breaded. The kind if crunch you only hear in commercials. The pho broth was delicious, but the amount of meat in it was meagre, as were the condiments you could put in it: less than a handful of beansprouts. Some basil. At least there was the requisite slice of lime & siracha was on the table But the wait!? Almost an hour to get those two dishes. The hostess/server's attitude swung between totally oblivious & condescending. We asked for a ladle to move the big bowl's contents into each individual's bowl & were icily told that they didn't have anything for customer use. As I was driving to my destination in Maine I was getting hungry and since it was lunch time I had to find a place to take a break from driving and grab a bite. I got bũn with grilled pork and grilled shrimp plus 1 order of fresh rolls. 85 dollars total because I still believe in tipping to go food. 7 bucks tip. Get home, unbox everything. My daughter wanted the rare beef pho, I place everything in a bowl and realized that the "rare" beef had already been placed in the broth l. Most places put the beef on the side so you can add it when you get home and cook to your liking. This was shriveled up, grey well done beef. Picture for reference. The sad amount of beef that was added is an absolute disgrace. Beware what you order because unless you're giving it a white glove inspection before you leave and complaining, then you're at the mercy of what you find when you get home. I'll never order that ever again. The only difference in large vs small is a small difference in the amount of noodles you get with your soup. Not worth the increase in price. My bũn was great. Grilled pork was tasty, the "grilled" shrimp was not grilled, not fresh not good at all. Inedible. They were probably cooked a week ago. For Bangor it is the best pho restaurant hands down, but it is a 4 star at best. I love the family that runs it and how hard they work! I wish I had the funds to put them into a real restaurant and watch them bring pho to Bangor. Being part Vietnamese it hurts my heart to see the lack of choices, but they do what they can! Food was pretty good. I ordered lunch special duck noodles dish with soup and roll. It was about 3 pm when I asked if lunch deal was still valid. Server said yes. I waited 15 minutes or so thinking my soup and appetizer would be coming out quickly. When I inquired, they said they were no longer serving lunch. I probably would've ordered a different dish had I known that. I'm not a huge Pho guy but probably should've ordered a bowl on a frigid day in Bangor. I'm willing to give them another try as I am a huge fan of Vietnamese food. This is a tiny shop that seems geared more to takeout, but has a pretty good menu with Thai and Vietnamese mixed in. I don't like to leave bad reviews for small businesses. It is the whole reason that I can here but our experience was not good. I thought that the poor girl at the check out was going to have an anxiety attack when she took my order and she barked at us when we asked anything. She is a teenager so I get it. While we were eating, a serving tray fell off a drink coolers on to the arm of my friend while we were eating. No one asked if it hit the baby that she was holding, the older gentleman just yelled at the girls working there for putting it up high. The food was lackluster, the pho was too salty and the lemongrass pork was just a genetic Asian brown sauce with 4 parts onions, carrots, and peppers with 1 part pork. Not a fan. read more

Something other than a lobster shack. The pho was surprisingly good, as authentic as any in NYC. The both was just rich enough for taste without over powering. Nice to have a generous amount of Thai Basil for the soup. There were also more beef slices than the typical NY restaurants. We were there during the summer, so was able to sit outside in a residential looking neighborhood. Inside there were 2 tables, similar to a Chinese take out place. Quick update to this review: our friend got food poisoning from here... Beware you should ONLY order for take out. This restaurant is not designed for dined in. Food was better than expected at 3.5/5 but I think this is southern pho since the broth is very much sweeter than what I'm typically used to. There's little to non-existent service as our host looks like she was having a miserable day. We literally had to ask for EVERYTHING lol for ex. Utensils, water, and everything necessary. Bangor Maine residents are very lucky to have such an excellent Thai restaurant available to them. I've had a lot of Pho soup and this is some of the best, if not the best, I've ever had. Still the Best pho outside of Portland. I would even vote this to be better than some in Portland . The broth: so beefy and deep flavored. The noodle: al dente The meats : loads of them ( I usually get the combo) The veggies: ALL are included ie. The fours : sprout, basil, lime and yes my fav jalepenos. Before putting additions to your liking , you have to taste the broth. There is so much flavor in the broth. One tablespoon is all you need to taste whether or not it goes downhill from here. Thankfully the pho here is all an uphill. The pho is very authentic in taste , in veggies and in presentation. The combo pho ( my choice) has rare beef, meatball , and brisket. The semi rare beef comes out and you dunk in hot broth and it cooks it. The meatball here are tender and delicious while the brisket is sliced thin and cooked just right. There are 3 tables outside and on a nice day like today you eat outside on one of the picnic table. Try their pho you will not regret it! read more
