If you are going to dine here from out of state, try takeout to test the Thai dishes you normally order. We unfortunately sat down indoors because we wanted Thai for a late lunch. If you are someone that has access to highly rated Thai in your city then don't come here. Possible we came on an off day when the kitchen was understaffed and kitchen not stocked. The price is high for the amount and quality of food you get. We ordered soup, appetizers and 4 dishes. The drunken noodles was ok, but it was swimming in oil. The seafood basil stir fry had one scallop and four shrimp...few squid pieces. The coconut soup did not have the coconut taste. The Thai iced teas had condensed milk and they added tons of sugar so it was undrinkable. Rating it higher than it should be because it's a family run business. Casual dining with a large menu that includes Chinese. There might be better dishes, but I just ordered the same dishes we get from any Thai place and was disappointed.

    Laab Gai (spicy chicken salad)

The food was delicious, the service was fast and our server was very enthusiastic about the restaurant and food. It is truly authentic and traditional Thai food, and I've been to Thailand and worked in Thai restaurants. This restaurant is easily some of the best Thai food in New England! I wish we had gotten the Satay, but the Drunken noodles, Pad See Ew, Laab Gai, and golden curry were simply divine. I cannot recommend this place enough!! Fantastic Thai iced tea as well!

First, there are many restaurants in the Ellsworth/ Bar Harbor area. Make a good decision and choose Thai Sana. The food is fresh and delicious. My pad Thai was incredible my wife's orange chicken was perfect and the crab Rangoon were the best that my wife and I have ever had. But, what really sets Thai Sana apart is their service. They took the time to talk with each able and really seemed to genuinely care about their customers. I am not from the area of this restaurant but would make visiting here again a priority the next time I'm in the region. This place should rival Cadillac Mountain as a destination for folks when coming to Bar Harbor. It truly is a dining experience and my wife and I left feeling like our dinner at Thai Sana will be something we remember for many years to come.

    Seafood fried rice

Recently moved to Ellsworth and was shocked to find a Thai restaurant. Was seated right away. Ordered the Thai iced tea, fresh shrimp rolls and the seafood fried rice. Order came out quick! Thai iced tea was refreshing and not overly sweet. The peanut sauce was amazing with the rolls, but I found myself mixing both sauces with each bite! Calamari with the fried rice was a little chewy and wish there was more shrimp added. Overall it was a good experience would definitely come back again.

Staff was super nice, food came out quick and hot, and the pad se ew was a large serving. Very pleased with the amount of food I got. The restaurant overall was welcoming and I like the Chinese zodiacs on each table.

Great Thai place in the area. We had the drunken noodles and several of the curry dishes and they were excellent. Highly recommend!

We ordered chicken wings & a large pho that allegedly had three kinds of beef in it. The wings were excellent: properly seasoned & lightly breaded. The kind if crunch you only hear in commercials. The pho broth was delicious, but the amount of meat in it was meagre, as were the condiments you could put in it: less than a handful of beansprouts. Some basil. At least there was the requisite slice of lime & siracha was on the table But the wait!? Almost an hour to get those two dishes. The hostess/server's attitude swung between totally oblivious & condescending. We asked for a ladle to move the big bowl's contents into each individual's bowl & were icily told that they didn't have anything for customer use. You can imagine how tedious it was to try to fill two individual bowls using Asian spoons and a lone tablespoon. What were these people thinking opening a restaurant?

We came here a few times last year and it was decent enough to fill that Thai craving. However,…read morethis year they have put the price up for lunch to $18.95, and the portion size is terrible for that price. This time I had the lunch which comes with soup, salad, 2 appraisers and the main meal choice. Sounds like a good deal right??! The soup and salad cone in cups so small I don't know where they found them, it was actually comical. The appraiser was a spring roll (which was good) and a shumi. The shumi app was literally one tiny dumpling the size of the tip of my thumb. Ummm.... For the main course I got the butternut squash curry and asked for it at a level 2 when she asked me how hot on a scale of 1-5. It was so hot I could not eat it. Had my partner try it and he could not either. It also came with just 3 shrimp. For $19. My partner had fried rice with chicken and apps of chicken sauté and a spring roll. He said the chicken sauté was ridiculously small and not good. I tried his rice and thought it was good, but that was the only winner in the meal for the $50 for lunch.

An unconventional interpretation of ma po tofu, it nonetheless delivered classic flavor, with small fried local tofu chunks taking on a mix of spicy and numbing flavors, delivered with a hefty dose of aromatic scallions and an aromatic rice below. Online messaging made it unclear to me whether this place might be continuing operations in the future, and I can only say I hope they figure out a way to do so.

So we're in a tiny, touristy (both negative predictors of good food) town of Bar Harbor, (pop. 5089), so I had low expectations of getting decent ramen, much less good vegetarian ramen. Very low. But LOW and behold... (get it? Low expectations, lo and behold? No? No one? OK. Let's move on). Holy cow... so to speak. Cottage Street Ramen has amazing vegetarian and vegan ramen. In Bar Harbor, Maine, of all places. We ordered Spicy Mushroom Miso Ramen, XO Ramen, and Rich Shoyu Ramen. And all of them were so amazing. To start, the presentation is beautiful, a treat for the eyes, topped with grilled and fresh ingredients and fried tofu, and the Rich Shoyu has generous amounts of sliced grilled garlic which is sweet and mellow. I highly recommend adding boo choy and scallions when you order. Iit adds a few cents to the cost, but so much flavor; they grill the bok choy and it's super yummy. All three broths are all so flavorful, rich and full of umami. And while the whole wheat ramen noodle isn't quite as glutinous (chewy) as white ramen noodles, but it's really good, and a sight more wholesome! We're here a few more days, so before we leave, we may just have to go back another time.... or two! There is no sit down service, and you have to bus your own table when you're done, but for this level of goodness in this place, it's totally worth it. Also they have no hot sauce, only house-made chili oil, so if you like it spicy like I do, bring your own hot sauce.
