Fried Tofu
Strohmann B.

5 stars - A birthday lunch worth traveling for We stopped into Long Grain for a birthday lunch while vacationing in Camden, and it completely lived up to the hype -- and then some. Everything we ordered was spot-on: the fried tofu was golden and crisp without being greasy, and the tom kha soup was light but layered with flavor, packed with mushrooms (a favorite of ours) and the kind of broth you want to savor slowly. The pad kemao with pork belly was the standout -- reasonably spicy and made with their signature handmade noodles that were simply perfect. Fat, silky, and just the right amount of chewy before they melted in your mouth. The pork belly added just the right hit of richness. We also had the pad see ew with chicken, a gentler, sweeter dish that was deeply comforting and ideal for someone craving classic Thai flavors without the heat. We sipped on green jasmine hot tea throughout, which felt like the ideal companion to the meal -- fragrant, light, and calming. This was a birthday meal to remember -- casual, cozy, and quietly extraordinary. Long Grain is a gem, and we're already dreaming about our next visit.

We have been coming here annually on our trips to the Camden, ME area. It is something we prioritize each year, because, it simply is the best Thai food we have had, and it is in an unexpected location. The quality has not only stayed true over the last years, but at our visit last night I would say it has somehow gotten even better! The flavors are spot on, the dining room is elevated cozy, the staff is kind and down to earth as you would expect in mid coast Maine, and the owners and chefs are always visible and available. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time, as it can be busy during the summer season, but really that is a tribute to how good this place is! Even in a seafood town, this is the place that you need a reservation. I look forward to many more years of coming to Long Grain. Thank you for being part of our family annual tradition!

Chicken Pad Kemao

Returning to Long Grain was nostalgic. While the menu has evolved, the classics remained. Just a block off of the main drag in Camden, this place has some of the best Thai/Asian food that I have ever eaten. While getting a table isn't always easy, it's well worth the wait. I have always found the team to be extremely informed and ready to guide you toward what you might like and your desired spice level. The show stopper for me is absolutely the wide rice noodles that are incorporated into several dishes including the photo of the Chicken Pad Kemao included here. I would also recommend the mussels, coconut soup and larb from the small plates. Hard to honestly go wrong on the entrees. I will certainly be returning soon!

The food here is DELICIOUS. I ordered the Pad Pak and the menu doesn't tell you but it comes with jasmine rice to soak up the delicious almost broth that it comes in. You can also sub the meats easily which is very nice. The service was good, very friendly and accommodating, don't be afraid to ask for changes! The only note I have is that they do not pick up the phone, it wasn't busy when I went but they wouldn't pick up the phone when I tried calling and while I was eating not once did they reach for the phone even when not busy. The interior is comfy and the ambiance is very pleasant and welcoming. The others in my party all loved their dishes as well!

The last time I ate here, I gave it 5 stars. This time was a little disappointing. I still highly recommend it, and make sure to make a reservation. But the curry my friend had, which didn't say spicy, was WAY too spicy and they had to get something else. And the fried tofu app was not exciting or unique. But everything is still cooked perfectly and the pad seuw is still to die for.

Very good food, beautiful presentation, service is great too! Would definitely visit again!

Som Tum (spicy green papaya salad), and Moo Ping (pork skewers)

We had a delicious dinner at Long Grain! The dessert was surprisingly the best part. The coconut crème brûlée over black sticky rice was heavenly! We enjoyed the green papaya salad and the pork skewers to start. We'd definitely get the skewers again! For entree's, we had the Kao Soi Gai and the Pad Kemao. Both were delicious, but the Pad Kemao, in particular, was amazing! We will definitely be back to get that again. The staff was very attentive, seemed to be working well as a team, and the dishes came out fairly quickly. However, the atmosphere was odd. It was a little cold and we could hear most of the conversation at all tables near us. They might want to consider some sound dampening techniques or an alternative seating layout.

Maticulous not meticulous.

The food was quite good. However the service was slow which took some of the luster off the quality of the food. My second drink never came and just prior to leaving the waitress said "darn, I forgot your drink do you still want it?" I declined. The picture shows them spelling "maticulous" when they meant "meticulous" . Apparently someone wasn't who made the menu.

Service was amazing! Very very accommodating for our large group. Food is tasty but a bit overpriced for Thai food.

There's records being thrown down, cool lighting, nice decor and even super friendly folks. The employees here are beyond nice and welcoming. Like they know what they are doing here and they are offering you an experience that is fun and funky. We started off with two drinks. One was called a salad of some sort (sorry, blacked out) and it was delicious. The other was just as good. Ordered the eggplant app - do not leave without this. Absolutely amazing. For food, we ordered a rice bowl with pork sausage and a noodle bowl (with lobster and clams). Don't remember the names. Both were absolutely fantastic. The flavor profiles are just incredible. The rice bowl had so many things happening. Just terrific. The noodle bowl has a broth that you would drink daily. There wasn't one thing that could have made these dishes any better. Do not leave without dessert. Read that again!!! Get the honey sundae. This is what dreams are made of. You will question reality. No matter how stuffed you think you are, order this. This place is just full of magic and wizardry. Like seriously.

Service: Great Food: We started off with soft serve and the seasonal earl gray outshined the house honey. The earl gray had a great flavor topped with an excellent syrup while the honey was mild and the chocolate shell didn't add anything, although the 'honeycomb' bits were delic. Crispy eggplant special - good, very small portion Pork katsu sandwich - pretty solid, interesting pickle Pad mee korat - good, small portion Value: Aside from the soft serve, the portions were very small for ~$17 price point, and the food was good but aside from the earl gray soft serve, didn't amaze to the point of paying a higher price point. Overall I did like this meal but portions were small for prices. I hope they keep the earl gray soft serve around!

An excellent third stop on our impromptu culinary tour of Portland, and our party grew from two to four. I had the Shanghai cowboy cocktail, the bourbon hits, and you can definitely taste the mint more than the guava. All the foods in order of my preference, this was a tough list to rank because everything had great flavor and came out hot!! Lobster rangoon: yes, I would love to have another order of these! Great flavor, nice crisp wonton, just a wonderful rangoon experience! Pork pot stickers: mmm, love me some pot stickers, and these lived up to my expectations, great flavor and texture! Sa cha chicken skewers: so very tender, great flavor, would gladly eat again! Garlic meatball skewers: good flavor, nice dipping sauce, happy we added these to our selection. Shanghai soup dumplings: in general a fun food item, great flavor and they were highly recommended by the everyone who suggested we eat here. Mongolian beef: the beef had great flavor, the broccoli was cooked properly, not mushy, the onions were well caramelized; delicious! Har gow: good flavor, nice steamed dumplings, glad we tried them! Peking duck buns: my friend was in love with these, it was good, but not something I was immediately obsessed with. More than enough food for the three of us adults! The toddler had an order of steamed noodles. I definitely forgot a few photos, but the food was just so good!!
