I ordered the mix vegetable with shrimp & pork shumai. The mix veg was lack luster, the flavor was just not there, shrimp were very small & few. The accompanying rice was cold & brown fried rice, maybe it was me & I assumed it would be white sticky rice. The pork shumai are not traditional, it's pork in wonton wrappers that would be added to Won Ton Soup. They were mushy & watery in the tin foil pan. read more

Oh, dear. This used to be our favorite Chinese place north of Portland and south of Rockland, but our takeout tonight was BAD. Like, real, real bad. They don't even know how to fold a dumpling. Look at this "shrimp shumai." Clearly, the folks in the kitchen have no idea what they are doing when it comes to Chinese food. Yikes. Bummer. read more

We got Chinese from Jade Lotus for Lunar New Year. Kept it simple with chicken and broccoli, Chinese mixed vegetables with chicken, egg drop soup, egg rolls. and pork fried rice. Everything was decent, the egg rolls were really good. Not too expensive compared to other take out options, too. Portion size was generous too. Will order again for sure. read more

We have found the food to be very inconsistent. We ordered very clearly and repeated are order on the phone We ordered chicken pad Thai and got some chicken fried rice that was so blan with clumps of rice that were still cold and not even stir fried in no onion hardly or egg. Called them back to tell them the order was wrong and they said it was what was ordered. I have never ordered chicken fried rice in my life time . We will avoid ordering from here again. read more

We passed this restaurant many times but never went in because of the exterior appearance. We thought it was probably purely take out. We recently went in to eat after reading reviews on Yelp. What a pleasant surprise. The interior is very nice and very clean ( as were the restrooms). There were three of us and we all liked everything we ordered. We tried the Korean beef, Mongolian chicken , stir fried teriyaki chicken, and various appetizers. Service was very good. Well worth a visit! The exterior is drab and not very inviting, but don't let that stop you from giving the place a try. read more

What a wonderful place to eat! The owner greeted us with such a warm welcome we instantly felt confident this would be a great experience! We ordered the veggie lomein, veggie rice, and teriyaki chicken. Our takeout came out at lightning speed (felt like minutes). Food was cooked to perfection with the freshest veggies! Exquisite flavor served piping hot even after we got it home! Something also is to be said on how much work these new owners have put into the space. The restaurant has been completely remodeled. We had high expectations for this restaurant as it has had a great overhaul and the decor is really quite lovely. And that is where the goodness for us ended on this lunch. Jade Lotus is an Asian fusion concept restaurant boasting Filipino, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese offerings. I was personally thrilled about the Pancit, as it had been so long since I'd had the authentic delight...I guess I am still waiting. We started out ordering hot tea and two orders of Wonton soup. Unfortunately, the waitress was unaware that there was no Wonton soup available. To their credit, she brought all three of us their house Egg Drop soup at no charge. The soup was hot, but tasteless and we had to add soy sauce for saltiness and siracha for a flavor...just one. The tea was watered down. Even Chinese buffet tea is stronger. Well, when the Pancit came (we ordered both styles), they were glorified Ramen. The vegetables were very fresh, but everything lacked flavor. It tasted like noodles with a Ramen packet sprinkled on top. Not authentic tasting at all. Additionally, every shrimp was not deveined. Shrimp poop, aka, shrit was everywhere! We decided to take everything to go at that point, rather than try for something else. The waitress was very sweet and personable, the food was an absolute miss. One more thing, do NOT eat the little green guava candy that comes with your check...it makes your breath smell like cat urine. read more

The worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. We all got different things, and they sucked equally. The portions were pathetic. The hot and sour soup was so disappointing. This was a huge waste of money. If you are visiting this part of maine, avoid this place like the plague. As a residents of NH, we were excited to see what Maine had to offer for Chinese food. Very disappointed. APPEARANCES ARE DECEIVING! People - if you get ANYTHING out of these reviews, *Know* this. All of you judged this place by its exterior, and that in itself is useless information unless the place is in dire need of roofing repair, water leaks, broken doors, pest infestation etc... As long as the place serves food safely and complies with all code/regulations, then the exterior is irrelevant. That being said- This place has some of the best Chinese food in town, and is located right next to the Residence Inn Marriott hotel. The prices for lunch specials are very reasonable given the quality of the food, and even dinner is also. I had the LoMein dishes and they were great! I didn't care too much for the cashew chicken mostly because it had too many veggies and not enough meat, but the rice/egg rolls were excellent! It's a small hole in the wall, but definitely worth going to for either take out or sit down. I really hope they get onto EAT24 or UBEREATS because I feel they could get a LOT more business. read more

Even after them repeating the order 4 times still got it wrong. Sauces spilled all over the food. Called and they refused to make it right by bringing the missing portion of food that was ordered. Had to speak to 3 different people and they all acted like they had no clue. Poor customer service. First, I get takeout from Jade Lotus often and normally I'm very pleased with any classic "American-Chinese" food that I order. (That's why there's 3 stars for a not more than 2-star experience tonight.). Their Filipino style pansit is good as well! Tonight I thought I'd branch out. I hadn't ordered from Jade Lotus in months and decided to try them out after their grand re-opening. My daughter and I ordered an appetizer combo and chicken pad thai. I know, risky ordering Thai food from a place that is predominantly known for Chinese food. I can honestly say that it is HAND DOWN the BEST Chinese food in the area. Everything was fresh, hot, flavorful, and way beyond what I was expecting. Even the pad thai was comparable to some of the local Thai restaurants. My daughter couldn't stop saying "Mmm, noodles good!". Oh, and when we went to pick up the food the gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and gave my daughter a free juice pouch. I definitely urge everyone to visit Jade Lotus! The food was excellent, the decor was fabulous, the restaurant was very, very clean and the PuPu platter for two w/ lo mein special is the best since I moved to the New England area. The owners were super friendly enough to give us free soup while we were waiting since they were very busy with take out. The soup of the day was hot and sour soup and was made to perfection. As I am looking a recent review by Mandy C., I had the pancit bihon to try for take out after my delicious meal and let me tell ALL of you, the pancit tasted very good and authentic. I had pancit when i was in the Philippines for vacation just last winter and let me tell you this tasted SO MUCH better than the average pancit in Manila or Cebu and the owners are Filipino so I just don't understand why Mandy C. you would say it's not authentic... I was always told by filipinos in the Philippines and in Los Angeles to always squeeze the lemon on top that they offer you to add extra flavor. I'm all about the pupu plater which is good here. I substitute the egg rolls because I don't like them anywhere. The fried shrimp I substitute because I think theirs has too much batter. Best in the area! We moved to the Midcoast region of Maine in 2016 and the first order of business was to find an Asian restaurant! After several swings and misses we finally found our spot! Let me warn you, this is not your typical order piles of food that all tastes the same type of Chinese take out place. It is billed as an 'Asian Bistro' and that is what it is. We absolutely loves the General Tso chicken here. Lightly fried with a wonderful sauce and a crispy eggroll. Clean mean with no fat like other places.
