I'll say it again, just as I've said before. This place, though not high-end looking, is one of the best- if not THE best Chinese places in Maine. I've been to a bunch of places and none are satisfactory. I'm big on general tsao chicken, with pork fried rice, and they get it right every time. New Peking is located at a gas station that also has 4 or 5 retail spots. Its 99% takeout but there are 3 tables and you can eat in if you want. Ive only had the general tso which is delicious. They warned me that it was spicy however it really was not LOL. If you like actual spicy, I would order it extra spicy. The steamed broccoli that was added to the plate was more or less cold though. The food was served hot and the portion was relatively small. I ordered lunch combo express food P4, boneless spare ribs, chicken in a stick and egg roll with roast pork fried rice. The spare ribs were actually Chinese roasted pork, quite tasty, but dry. The chicken on a stick was tender on the inside, but tough on the outside. The flavor was good, though. The fried rice was flavorful with a good char. The spring roll was my least favorite because it is dry and flavorless. Give it a try if you are in the area. read more

Ok looked at the reviews, but try this place anyway. First I would like to say the female owner is very nice. Now for the food. It tasted good going down, but after I ate it I had to go to the restroom. I'm not sure if you're using msg or what when the food is prepared, but whatever it is your using to much of it. I'll give her some credit, she did ask how was the food before I left. I said it was ok until I got back to my truck. So cut back on whatever you are using msg, oil or whatever. FYI I'm trying to give you positive feedback so you can make it in this business. Food service is hard when customers don't tell you what is wrong. Worst chicken wings I ever had. I told the lady I wanted a refund and she refused, I only ate 2 wings out of 7 too many. Wings look real bad dry out.So I had to go outside and protest for about 20 mins to get a refund. I'm a Iraqi Freedom combat vet and took someone else I guess the landlord wife that owns the property to get me a refund. Not that good, but not horrible, either. I ordered the Coconut Chicken special for lunch. It was a bit pricey for what I received - deep fried battered chicken bits on white rice with a total of 3 little broccoli florets and a very thick and creamy coconut sauce. The chicken was ok, the rice was fine, the broccoli (what there was of it) was cooked well and not soggy or overcooked. The sauce was WAY too sweet. My lunch companion had sesame chicken that seemed to be cooked the same way as mine, with a slightly different sauce, sesame seeds sprinkled on top, and the same number of broccoli florets. The woman working the counter tried very hard to sell him the coconut chicken, which he didn't want - maybe to save them from having to cook two different meals..? They also advertised a mango chicken special on a white board, but when he asked for it he was told there was no mango. Not sure why they didn't just erase the board. If you're starving and dying for some Chinese, and about to enter or just left the turnpike, the food probably won't kill you. But I'd suggest you wait to get to town, and skip Peking. read more

The vegetables are always fresh and everything is always flavorful. We never wait however we do call in our order with plenty of time. We are situated to be able to order from several places and we continue to return to here.
