8/31/2026: Generally better meals at yesterday's visit. Staff was friendlier, as well, although the order taker really pushed us to get extra sauces. Later we learned from the wall menu that they charge extra for these sauces when most restaurants supply them without charge, so that didn't set well. It also seems we will have to keep track of which meals and appetizers we prefer. We tried the beef teriyaki appetizer for an extra $1 charge this time. It was good even though it didn't have the traditional teriyaki flavor. We also tried the boneless ribs but found this appetizer was not sweet, just so salty we couldn't eat it. Perhaps someone added salt instead of sugar to the sauce? We don't know how it was made but we will never order boneless ribs again. Every time we go to a restaurant that is new to us we try different dishes to see what we do and don't like and then mark our paper menu at home in accordance with that. Most foods served at this China Taste have been on the bland side so far. Maybe it's a ploy to sell more tiny cups of sauces? Makes one wonder. read more

Windham is not the Chinese food destination of New England, but I feel like I stumbled across a gem with China Taste. China Taste is the definition of American Chinese. Orange chicken, Szechuan chicken (not actually Szechuan), pu pu platter, duck sauce... But it doesn't make it any less delicious, and China Taste does it well. Portions are HUGE. Orange chicken is very good and crispy. Happy Family is loaded with vegetables. Szechuan chicken is good (not great). Fried rice is tasty. We called for pickup and our order was ready in 10min. The family that owns the restaurant was very nice and friendly. Would definitely order from here again! read more

China Taste is nothing special, a Chinese restaurant with the standard dishes (orange beef, general tso chicken, spring rolls, etc.). The General Tso Chicken I had was drowning in sauce with dry fried rice and not a trace of vegetables. Same for the spring rolls. The place does a lot of take out business since it is the only Chinese takeout in the area. But the Maine customers deserve better IMO. I didn't finish my chicken and threw most of it out. It didn't help that Fox News was on the screen the whole time I was there. read more

Very large portions, I had the Mei-Fun noodles with chicken, and I had enough to last me two days. The chicken fingers are huge, and the spare ribs are very meaty, not fatty like some other places. Also really good chicken wings as well. Highly recommend it! read more

Seriously, surprisingly good. Had the appetizer combo A2 with chicken fingers, crab, Rangoon, beef teriyaki and fried rice. Everything was just perfect and enormous portions. But I think my favorite thing was they didn't ask for a tip when you sign the receipt. One of my biggest pet peeves about takeout places. read more

Always decent Chinese food (considering it's in Maine), and people are always polite and responsive.

I've yet to find any other Chinese restaurant who can give China Taste's Beef teriyaki and orange chicken any competition. It's hands down the best I've had. There's something about the crispy coating on the teriyaki and the batter on the orange chicken that is a trademark. Not only are they remarkably delicious, they are massive portion sizes! You will no doubt have leftovers. If I gave some constructive criticism, I'd recommend working on the appearance and ambiance. The inside needs some updating and the neighbors are a medical marijuana dispensary that draws some interesting characters. No fear though. Don't judge a book by its cover. On a high note, parking is easy and when I call in for take out, my estimated time for pickup is almost always a short 20 minutes. read more

The food is alright. I usually get a bunch of appetizers - crab Rangoons, egg rolls, beef sticks, chicken fingers. The crab rangoons are always stale and not crispy, idk if they keep them pre-made and sitting under a heat rack or what but they never feel freshly made. I usually go to Grey for Chinese food...I was going through Windham and stopped here. The place was a disgusting mess! I noticed AFTER I ordered my food to go. The cashier was so unwelcoming and not very talkative or obliging. I ordered General Tso's. I was watching in the back. The cook had chicken already in the basket hanging over the hot oil. I don't know how long it was sitting there. It was more like a VERY bland orange chicken. I had one piece. The beef teriyaki tasted like bad meat. The fried rice was barely seasoned and tasted like minute rice bland bland bland. The crab Rangoon's I can make a lot better. they barely had filling and were so over cooked I could barely eat one. I spent 22 dollars on nothing but gross food. I will never eat here or tell someone to go here. STAY FAR AWAY. I wonder when the last time was a health inspector has been there! read more

I find it to be up and down. Sometimes the food is very good but sometimes it's only mediocre. I don't know why it's so inconsistent Tonight the house fried rice was just flat, without the usual seasoning. The rice had an odd texture and it didn't have as many vegetables, mushrooms or meat in it as it has in the past. The egg roll was okay but again lacked the usual flavor. Been going here for a solid 15 years. Nobody has better Beef Teriyaki. The portions are good and the prices are reasonable. Their Egg Foo Young gravy is the way i like it. It's not just the ordinary brown gravy you get at buffets. It's dark and flavorful. The fried rice is pretty good as well and their combos are great. A big scoop of fried rice and your choice of appetizer. Crab Rangoons are alright but if you wanna kick it up a notch I would go next door. And the Lo mein.. well my last experience wasn't very good. Slimey, stuck together, and absolutely tasteless. I hate to even say that but I gotta be honest. Maybe it was just a bad night. Ill finish on a high note.. Well I've been here multiple times and it's good! The portions are enormous, the service is fast and friendly. There are a few tables to dine in, but it's mostly a take out joint. They have one of those toy claw games and bottles of soda. I would have given them five stars, because this is classic to go Chinese food, but upon my recent visit I found out they got rid of one of my favorite menu items, called green jade (or something like that). It was a delicious mixture of veggies that were crisp and not overly steamed. It didn't feel heavy or weighed down. It made my vegetarian counterpart extremely happy! I'm trying the steamed mixed veggie with brown sauce instead. We'll see how this goes... read more

This fast food Chinese dive used to be great. The food was quality and the people were fun. They have been going downhill for a long time now but I think they're at an all time low. My family and I love boneless pork strips but we've stopped ordering theirs because all you get is a mouthful of fat. Their teriyaki beef sticks are over cooked and tough. The dumplings are gummy and tasteless. Everything they serve now, from the egg rolls to their chow mein is greasy. Even their soups are greasy. Their focus is not on putting out good food. Nor is it on making sure their customers are happy. It's solely to make money while the quality and their patrons suffer. I even called to complain about an order and all I got was arguing and attitude. There was nothing even close to what you normally expect as the industry standard. No offer to bring the meal back to show what I was talking about. No offer to make it right. He spent the entire time on the phone talking down to me, arguing with everything I said, and making false statements. The portion sizes are huge for a good price! The food was good, not the best American style Chinese food I've ever had but definitely not the worst. One of the only options for Chinese in windham area. Went a few times in college. General tso's chicken is decent. Crab rangoons are ok.... But don't have high expectations....full of msg and definitely not the best quality, but for the windham area, its alright. There are a few choices of Chinese food in Windham but this is the best. Good fried rice is important and theirs is pretty good. We never had been on a Friday until this week.
