My cousin said that this place had new owners and had improved under them. They also happen to be the only Chinese restaurant in town. I got a small order of crab rangoons and Gai Poo lo mein, to go. The people were very friendly, and the service appeared to be fast and attentive. The interior does have a few booths, which surprised me since it looks like just a take away place from the outside. The "crab" rangoons were nicely fried triangles, but the filling was really just cream cheese, so I don't know why they don't call them cream cheese wontons. The lo mein was better, but the inclusion of ham strips made the whole thing more salty than I could enjoy. I can't recommend it, but it's also the only choice if you want Chinese, so that may not matter. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of the food, service and quantity. I was driving back to Rockland from Portland and most places were closed. The gentleman at LF was kind enough to take my order in advance over the phone and time the production to have it ready when I arrived. The food came out promptly at the time requested. I was offered a free drink and extra broccoli to compensate for an alleged small entree protein portion due to running out of product near closing. Despite this, I found the portion size to be well above average. The food was tasty, great sauce on the beef and I enjoyed the dumpling filling/ sauce. I will absolutely visit again in the future for carry out. *Note: the food was presented in a much more appealing manor than my photo represents. Very little egg and the pork was stringy and tough. I don't know what the sauce was but it wasn't lobster sauce and was tasteless. No crab in the crab rangoon. The rice was dry and again bland. Ordered a side of shrimp fried rice. This too was dry, tasteless and only a few shrimp. Even the cookies were stale. This was suppose to be our food for the next 2 or 3 days. The family that runs Lucky Fortune is very nice. It is a classic, inexpensive, greasy spoon Chinese takeout joint. The food is ok for the price. It's not elevated. It's not innovative. It's not low fat or low carb. The only thing healthy about it is the portions. But it's fine for what it is. We probably eat here twice a year. If you want fresher food, Best Thai in the downtown is better; but the fresher food is reflected in the price, obviously. read more

Usually get the pupu platter, which is a bunch of fried apps like egg roll, fried rice, teriyaki chicken, crab rangoon, butterfly shrimp, and others. There's also over 20 combo meals that mix and match certain pupu platter items with entre items like General Tao or Sesame Chicken Unfortunately it is the only chinese place in the Damariscotta/Newcastle area so unless you wanna drive 10 to 15 minutes to Waldoboro, this is it. Absolutely unacceptable. We brought the food right back, along with the staple. While they did refund me, they told me it "didn't look like their staple." Eat food from Lucky Fortune last night and did not taste so lucky or a fortune. Sorry ordered sesame chicken and was not sure what type of meat or poultry in it. This was the worst Chinese I have ever had. I even tried it twice just to see if I had tried them on a bad day. They were just as awful the second time. I never realized how important it was to play music in a restaurant until I sat down in this dead silent Chinese rest and every movement I made felt like a construction site. Ni Hao! Was a great place but no more! Purchased close to $60 worth the food. Only thing normal was egg rolls. Beef and Mushroom was all mushroom in a brown starchy sauce, Orange Chicken was a complete joke. Opened up several pieces of fried doughy goo after complaints of no chicken. Could barely find half an ounce of chicken in the entire order. It was all so gross that I called them in shock. I asked if they had a new chef, she said same chef. Now the killer: The (fake/imitation) Crab Rangoon. It looked great, only thing I ate. Ate all 5 by myself, bad move. Finished about 8pm, by 1am I woke up with stomach pain and spent the night vomiting with volcanic explosions down below. My butthole feels like someone lit a stick of dynamite in it and ran for cover. I believe I was punished for only leaving a few bucks for a tip. The young lady taking my order saw I was fiddling with cash from my wallet and stood there as I put dollar bills in a jar (paid by credit card). She ticked me off standing there watching instead of putting my order in that she said would take 20 minutes, so I gave her chump change of $4 and I think she gave me tRump's Xxxa Flu as punishment.
