First time & won't be my last! I ordered take out for Pad Thai with Tofu & Crispy Avocados. Both portion sizes lasted me dinner & lunch the next day (air fryer worked great for the avocados) ! The food was fresh, hot & tasty. I can't wait to return and try more items or dine-in. read more

Very friends staff with plenty of room, have tables for two and up to six with road/water views. Quiet classy music in the background that doesn't overpower the conversation. Food was good for small town Thai food. The wontons had a combo of veggies (broccoli and carrots) coupled with wontons and chicken mixed into broth. The chicken satay was flavorful and the peanut sauce is a bit oily in the side dish. The staff here is very friendly and made for a great experience! read more

Driving back toward home from Katahdin today we were deciding on where to eat for what we call lunch-upper... Past lunch, almost supper time. Decided on Happy Thai in Old Town. What a treat! Watched OT regulars and tourists with a window view of Main St. As soon as we ordered the restaurant began to pop! Online orders, people streaming in for dinner and to pick up their orders. Started with Thai iced teas, chicken satay, crispy avocados. Then on to the main events: spicy Thai noodle soup and a Thai Chow Mien. Service was excellent; all dishes were superb. Walked out to the parking lot, saw license plates from all over New England and beyond! Happy Thai, Happy Diners!! read more

The food is always good. And we enjoyed the food that we did eat. The service was awful. The staff was not attentive did not refill water glasses and left our food on the counter till it was cold. And then did not want to take ownership of the issue. read more

What a great dinner! Spotlessly clean, and charming dining room. Friendly staff- attentive without being too much- We had crab wrangoons-yum, salad rolls delish and the peanut dipping sauce I'd put on a rock and eat it! Massamm curry and pad Thai-with the exception of the "crab" it was all tofu and veggies cudos to this happy little bistro! read more

This is the best Thai food I've had in this area. It's very authentic! The decor is also very beautiful, and the service is very warm and friendly! You can choose the spiciness! It's really good for Thai food lovers. I highly recommend the drink (I forgot what it was called!) The dumplings are also delicious! I also like the noodles. read more

Happy Thai Cuisine - Sweet and sour pork - Thai Near Me - Old Town, Maine

I can't say enough good things about this wonderful Thai restaurant! The hostess is gracious and welcoming and happily describes an item if we ask about it. The food is amazing! We keep trying new things and marvel at the deliciousness. Today we shared "Chive Cakes"--an authentic appetizer. I was thinking they'd be like scallion pancakes but these were entirely different. They were cut in thick wedges, steamed first then given a quick fry. They arrived sizzling hot and were crispy & crunchy on the outside while soft and creamy on the inside and just loaded with tasty green chives. The traditional dipping sauce--a bit salty, savoury, and slightly sweet--was a perfect companion to the crunchy, creamy wedges. There were 8 of these delicacies and I could have scarfed down each and every one of them myself, but I had to share, alas. I can't seem to get enough of Happy Thai's coconut soup, either. The broth is light and flavorful with just a hint of heat--I ask for mild, but you can ask to have it as hot as you'd like. My companion enjoyed his plate of Drunken Noodles today as well. We've also tried Green Curry and Pad Thai, always with tofu as the chef cooks it so succulently. The restaurant is just a small place on a corner in Old Town, Maine, overlooking the Penobscot River. The interior is classy but subdued with a peaceful ambiance and plenty of tables. Prices are reasonable. It's the delicious food has the starring role. read more

The service was good but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the lettuce wraps and was given chopped lettuce with canned chicken. I've gotten other food here before and it was fine but this was quite disappointing. When asked if this was normal for the lettuce wraps, we were told it was :/ read more

I have ordered take-out at Happy Thai a few times and I have been impressed each time. I have not tried eating inside the restaurant but one of these days I will try it. I enjoy the chicken pad thai and find it comes with plenty of food, usually enough for two meals and at a fair price. The staff have been friendly each time I've been inside to pick up food. No complaints here! read more

The lady that works at the front is incredibly rude. I was there to pick up an order and was told, that I need to hurry up because there's other people to help. Mind you, there was no one else in line and the phone was not, ringing. The new guy they recently hired is super nice and kind. Exactly how someone in the SERVICE industry, should be. read more

I love this place. It is very welcoming and the dumplings are fantastic. Worth going out of the way for this place.

Very friendly staff. Great food, excellent service. The Thom Kha soup was sweet and spicy and loaded with chicken and vegetables. The Pad Woon Sen with chicken was perfect, very flavorful and not spicy at all. My husband had the red curry with pork and tofu and ate every bite, he said it was some of the best he's ever had. His Pad Thai was great as well. We had plenty of leftovers to enjoy when we left. Portion sizes are not huge, but are large enough that you will probably have leftovers. We have already recommended Happy Thai to our kids. read more

We went last night for a special treat! Very relaxed atmosphere. Tables by the window have a nice view of the river. Pleasant host and server. He wears many hats. Menu selection is very good with many choices. We had the veggie wraps for appetizers and I had fried rice with shrimp. My partner had a different dish, Thai HOT. He said, Finally someone who knows what HOT really is. Served right from the kitchen by a smiling preparer who did not speak English. Fresh and delicious food. Good sided servings. We will be back. My left over take out make a delicious lunch today! read more

Thought we would try a new place to eat and saw this place. My sister ordered Drunken Noodles and I ordered Pad Thai, both chicken. Both were very delicious and they offer a generous amount! We will be going back with our husbands! Highly recommend trying this place out! I added it to Yelp because it's good to help new businesses especially when they do a great job! read more

Went on quick date night with my wife and had really good experience. Restaurant is clean, food was fresh, and service was top notch. Really appreciated the friendly service and recommendations were good. I like good with some kick to it but I would tell you the "medium" spice is probably a little closer to the "hot" side of things so be prepared. I had the drunken noodles and wife had the pad Thai. Again food was fresh, reasonably priced and appropriate portions. Will definitely be back. read more

This is such a cute little restaurant. My father absolutely adores this place and gets the pad Thai Thai hot every time. I like to switch it up a bit and have tried multiple items on the menu. I haven't found a dish that I didn't like, just ones I prefer more. The people who run this restaurant are awesome and I always look forward to grabbing Thai for the evening. read more

Best Thai food in the area with the best prices! Super friendly, family run business! Thai chicken curry soup is my favorite.

Delicious and fresh. The place is always clean and welcoming. To-go portions are great! Very accommodating for vegans.

I was asked to lunch by a friend who had been there several times before and raved about it. I, of course, checked out the Yelp reviews. Although there were only 2 reviews, they were both 5 stars, so I gave it a chance. I'm so glad I did. The first thing I noticed was how clean it was. I mean super clean. It even smelled clean. Not like perfume or chemicals....just clean. When I sat down, my friend commented on how clean the water glasses were, so I looked closer and couldn't find a speck of anything. Not even a water stain. The glasses actually sparkled. That may not be a big deal to some people, but it's a huge deal to me. The server came over and welcomed me with a big smile and poured some ginger tea in my very, clean, cup. Apparently, he makes it fresh every morning. It was delicious. We drank the whole pot and asked for more. The atmosphere was very pleasant and comfortable. Our server's name was Jack and he and his wife own the restaurant and she does all the cooking. I started with the Crab Rangoon. It was so yummy. My friend had the veggie rolls. Those were fantastic also. Then I got the yellow chicken curry. This is a spicy dish, but I asked for it to be mild and it was perfection. I would like to tell you what my friend ordered, but I was too busy devouring everything they put in front of me to notice. All the food is made fresh, from scratch, and with no MSG. I can't say enough good things about my experience at Happy Thai Cuisine. I will go back every chance I get. Yum. read more

Happy Thai Cuisine appears to be very clean and has a cozy small inside dining area. It is nice to have this addition to the limited food scene in Old Town. The owner Jack is very pleasant and welcomed us to his establishment he owns with his wife, the cook. Unfortunately there is no lunch menu or lunch pricing. Meals are one price for either lunch or dinner. My husband and I ordered two dishes, one was vegetables and tofu, the second one was Pad Thai with chicken. I was disappointed with the vegetables and tofu as it was served with a runny thin watery sauce and the dish was not flavorful. The vegetables were fair at best, a few pieces of broccoli, few quarter portioned button mushrooms, food service sliced carrots, sliced celery, few halved rounds of sliced zucchini, and several pieces of cabbage leaves. No onions even though listed on menu as one of the ingredients. My husband's Pad Thai w/chicken was ordinary, nothing remarkable. overall the meals are quite pricey for the portion sizes and and lack of great flavor. Our lunch with no appetizers, no alcohol, no beverages or tea was approximately $40. with tip (for the owner who served us). We will not be back, too pricey for lunch.
