As a frequent restaurant diner and former server, I understand how crucial nuance is in creating a hospitable, relaxed, and, if the occasion warrants it, exciting experience. I find that PF Chang's delivers on all three. While the food and company are always central to the dining experience, the hosts, servers, and bussers are essential supporting players on the stage or screen of a successful meal. William, a server at the Southpoint PF Chang's, deserves at least a New York Drama Critics Circle or Golden Globe nomination, and, if not a Tony or Oscar, he should definitely be on the shortlist for next season. He is articulate, patient with a crowd and makes you feel at home, offering an elegant, polished, and sophisticated service with a delightful sense of humor and flair. He doesn't hover but is always attentive. Bravo! On the food and value side, my dinner companions and I raved about the chef's special--soup, appetizer, and entrée for just $19.99. The catch is that it must be purchased in pairs, so if you're dining alone, you can always enjoy one and take the rest home. Of course, The Changs isn't fine dining, yet it is a good value, consistent, and obviously, given its success, many people enjoy it very much. Too bad the entrees you can find in your favorite grocer's freezer aren't very good, but if I want frozen food, I eat Stouffer's Mac and Cheese. I went here for lunch much recently on a week day. Despite being almost empty the service was extremely slow. The menus had a greasy residue and were slightly slimy. The Mongolian beef was actually really good as was the Beef with Broccoli. Overall the food was pretty good but the service and cleanliness could use an overhaul. P.F. Chang's is good. Is it my favorite food ever? No. They are notorious for their lettuce wraps. Yeah they're good. I'd come back for them. They come on a bed of fried rice noodles and a light sauce. This was a fan favorite at our table. They're famous for a reason. The fried rice was good, chicken and broccoli good, pad Thai good. But it was just good. I'm not mind blown. I will say that I think I'd Come back. I'll explain why. I love that you can share all the plates. I love the ambiance. I love the energy. The service was great. What I'm really coming back for is the desert. AMAZING. We got the fried banana and IT was mind blowing. It was warm and wrapped in a crunchy roll. The ice cream was exceptionally creamy. It was coconut-y and had a light caramel drizzle. The fruit were frozen but not Icey. It was just the right amount of cold. Good food, portions have gotten smaller, even with an increase in price. Service needs work(they have a few servers that are great, the others need to be replaced) management is very nice as well! I always assumed PF Chang's was the Olive Garden of Chinese food and guess what? It is. But worse. You could eat at any mall court Chinese place and it would be five stars compared to this and would be paying at least half the price. I had one guy long ago try to sweeten the deal to go out with him saying he'd take me to PF Chang like some kind of baller, but I knew better then and I should have known better now. Out of their dishes, I tried, MaPo tofu, japchae (Korean sweet potato noodles), Sesame chicken and Lo mein. I started with the sesame chicken, thinking that should be a safe bet, but it was soggy, flavorless, but ironically, it was the best of the bunch. After that I tried the MaPo but it tasted pretty much like soy sauce and nothing else. I usually love japchae and make it at home but this again tasted most like soy sauce and maybe some Worcestershire sauce for good measure. Not that it matters if you're not going to eat it, but the portions are small for the price if you do like their food and the setting may make it seem better than it is if you like overworked, stylized Chinese kitsch, which I do so a win there I guess. The moral of the story: trust your gut when it comes to food or men. read more

Banana spring rolls with coconut pineapple ice cream - easily the best part of my meal. Loved it!! The banana was perfectly ripe and soft with the cooking of the spring roll. Service : not sure if we went on an off day, but our waiter was working with too many tables to be effective. He seemed spread thin and didn't get us what we wanted on time. I had asked for my meal to be spicy but it really lacked any flavor. I had to ask a few times to get chili paste on the side to add. I was across the street and wanted to change places for food. My friend met me there. Plenty of parking. Even if you have to walk a little, still convenient. You are greeted as soon as you walk in. We got a half booth/ chair thing, they should get a couple more booths. The menu has a lot of options. I got the vegetable spring rolls. They were cooked well! The sauce was excellent. I can't recall if it was sweet chili but paired really well. My friend got the tempura platter. Gave it the thumbs up. The rose that was available that day was decent also, a little pricey though. I haven't been to a P.F. Chang's in over 10 years. I'm in the middle of moving and needed takeout (for the 20th meal in a row!). I was tired of the usual spots, and given it was late Sunday evening my options were limited. I figured I would give P.F. Chang's a shot since it was on my route home. The waitress was professional and directed me where I needed to go to place a take out order. I got the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer and one chicken pad thai to go. This cost $26 without a tip. The wait was reasonable, and I didn't have an issue given I didn't call ahead. When I got home I was disappointed by the portion size of the pad thai entreé. I would say the container was 1/3 full of noodles. They really filled up space with large cuts of green onions and shredded carrots. Nobody, literally nobody, would eat that amount of green onions and let alone when they aren't even chopped into smaller pieces. I ate the carrots because I was still so hungry. Even worse, my "chicken" pad Thai had 4 pieces of chicken total. This is not the place for value. I am sad I paid $26 dollars for green onions. The atmosphere is dimly lit and wide open with space, which was really nice to dine in. We also got to sit in a booth-- even last minute! Always a plus. While I love their appetizers and entrees, the wait was unbearable. Our server, Terry, was so kind and attentive, but it seemed as if they were understaffed. We are normal visitors to PF Chang's in other locations so we can speak to the usual high quality experiences. Our visit to the one in Durham, NC left us hoping we didn't get sick First, the good: The service was friendly and courteous. Erin and Lauren were absolutely fantastic and I give them super kudos for their service. The awful: Undercooked chicken that was not noticed until halfway through the meal. I cook chicken at home all the time and also did so in the food industry myself as a cook in my younger days. Undercooked chicken is inexcusable and shows a lack of attention to detail. It is not only gross, but dangerous to the health of whoever eats it. The manager and the server apologized and that was appreciated. They did remove the impacted dish from our bill, which I feel was the very least that could have been done. At this moment we are waiting to see if there are any sick tummies as a result of this visit, and will address the matter accordingly should that be the case. Our message to the cooks: there is no excuse for sending out undercooked chicken that is sliced, which should be even more noticeable upon proper inspection. read more

My family and I came here to celebrate my birthday on a Tuesday. The restaurant did a great job with social distancing, including having all of the staff wear masks, and utilizing a digital menu using a QR code. All the food was delicious, including the appetizers. I had the lettuce wraps, and sesame chicken. My husband had the orange chicken, and my daughter had the pan fried and steamed dumplings. We all enjoyed our food. I wish this was extremely professional and friendly and attentive. I also received a complimentary dessert because it was my birthday. We had not eaten at P.F. Chang's in a while. We were traveling and stopped to visit friends in Durham and decided on PFC. Overall the food was good but we were shocked at the size of the portions. We ordered the Honey Crisp Chicken and the order had 12 pcs of Chicken. Our other Entree a beef dish was also smaller than we had remembered. In the past there was always plenty of food for the table of 4 to take home leftovers. We also ordered spring rolls and soup along with chicken fried rice. I was a bit put off when I paid the bill with a gift card and a credit card and tipped the waitress 20% of the total bill, not the discounted amount. She got snippy with me saying I didn't tip the full amount with the gift card. Where she was off was I don't tip on the tax. She received a $16 tip on an $80 tab. I was so nervous to dine here after reading all the bad reviews.... This was to be the dinner stop on our 4 hrs drive from out of state. To my delight they had a family meal that offered a variety of items that we had planned on ordering anyway but the more popular orange chicken and another item my niece wanted wasn't included so we decided to just order individual meals. When we got to the restaurant there were barely any cars in the lot. We thought they were closed until I went inside to confirm. They were open... just wasn't busy. I've never seen a PF Chang's that empty. I was really concerned but we decided to continue with the plans for dinner (considering we had been looking at the menu for the last 60 or so miles!) We started with a basic lettuce wraps and fried rice and they were as good as usual so everyone decided to order their usual order. I ordered Mongolian Beef (very expensive $21) and a kung pao Brussels sprouts, which were new to me. Both my items were very good! Freshly made, hot and plentiful. I even had to get a box because I couldn't finish it all. The service was great and the restaurant was clean.
