    house pork belly noodle soup
    Michelle Z.

Great spot for comfort Asian food! Went here with family and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We each got a noodle soup and shared the salt & pepper spare ribs and the beef burrito. I liked the pork belly noodle soup although it was a tad salty. The noodles had great chew and the pork was tender. I liked the addition of the boiled egg as well. The ribs & beef roll were also very good and flavorful. Service was friendly and super quick -- food came out within minutes. They have a ton of seating inside and it felt clean. Portions are huge! Super good value and quality for the price.

Such a lovely dinner experience! The ambiance is calm and inviting, making it a great spot to sit and enjoy a meal. The vegetable fried rice, chicken lo mein, and General Tso's chicken were all fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced especially the chicken-to-batter ratio. The peach oolong tea was a nice touch, and I loved that they offer sweets to take home. Great service and genuinely friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

Had a nice meal here yesterday with a longtime friend. He had a Lo Mein dish and I had their spicy Orange Bossom dish and we shared some egg rolls and I had some flavored tea.. Decor is very nice and at lunch time on Monday good crowd but not packed at all..Staff was very nice and courteous...worth checking out...I will be back.....

    Braised beef soup

Great experience and really good food! Started with the salt and pepper shrimp, great crisp, great taste. The general Tso's chicken was also really good. Overall, the braised beef soup was tasty, but the broth was amazing! The beef was ok, gets stuck in your teeth. I was very satisfied overall. Would go back.

I got my food delivered. Everything was packaged carefully and there was no mess. I got Beef with Broccoli and Szechuan Chicken. The food was okay, not the best but not bad. Everything by was cooked well, the flavors were just a bit lackluster in my opinion.

I tried the sesame chicken, but it wasn't crispy and ended up a bit chewy. Overall, the food was good, though my dessert order was missed. That said, I do appreciate the authentic desserts they offer--it's nice to see those options available on display. Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly, kind servers.

Lovely dining room. Bright open and clean. Waitstaff attentive but not irritating Food was excellent. We ordered pork spring roll. Green beans and orange chicken. Everything was hot and tasty. The green beans were a nice salty garlic foil to the spicy sweet-sticky orange chicken. Other dishes at other tables also looked good and we are already thinking about coming back!

We had known about this restaurant for a while since it's location in Durham had a revolving door of other establishments. Finally decided to visit on a chilly Sunday evening with a discount from a local dining club. Looks to be popular with Duke students. We were quickly seated but it took a while for someone to bring us a menu, then for someone to take our orders, and then at the end to bring the bill. We enjoyed the cucumber salad app, and I enjoyed the pork belly noodle soup. My wife had fried rice. Overall, food was good, prices were decent, but I think the wait staff could be a little bit more attentive to customers ready to order or ready for the bill.

I came alone so Combo A was perfect for me as it came with an appetizer, side, platter of vegetables, and two meats. For the broth, I had medium spice level and I recommend half and half tomato or getting mini as it can get VERY spicy even at medium. They added a lot of spice to it which I was a little bit surprised, but I was able to tolerate it. For the appetizer I had their crispy pork belly and it was a huge portion, nothing too special about it but was crunchy and went well with the chili flakes. For the side, I had fried rice and it was just regular fried rice but went really well with the spicy broth. The meats and vegetables were fresh and everything came out quickly and the staff was friendly as well.

I don't think they allow reservations, it's just first come first serve or I think you can also call ahead to put yourself on a wait list. Fantastic ambiance, really attentive service and fresh ingredients. It's not all you can eat, you order by plate. Which is nicer, you don't feel so bloated after eating there because you can portion control easier, and it's more cost effective. I'm personally a big fan of their beef cuts, tripe, lamb, even some more niche cuts like the ox aorta are good too. The side dishes are great too. Particularly a fan of their fried rice cakes. Highly recommend coming here for hotpot!

Simply put, everything we ordered was a home run. The soup - Wonton - was splendid. The broth had far more kick, far more substance, far more taste than the stuff we've managed to get at other local restaurants - and more clearly matched what I've eaten in Chinese restaurants throughout Southeast Asia . . . and, of course, in my few trips to Beijing. The egg rolls immediately made me think of this little hole-in-the-wall take-out Chinese joint in Brooklyn that I recall . . . from fifty years ago. The place was situated on the corner of Bay Parkway and 86th street, right at the point where the elevated track for the B train was located - and immediately became my father's first stop as he descended the station's stairs at the end of his workday, leading right to the front door of that cookery. He always ordered an egg roll or two, ate one standing in the entryway to the cook shop, and brought several home. Those Szechuan Garden egg rolls immediately, for me, resonated with the vigorous, deep taste of those Brooklyn delectables. We had a simple fish dinner with white rice, and an eggplant cooked deeply and wrapped in a thin dough covering - never had eggplant that way before and it was, again, a home run. The fish was so very simple, so very tasty - unforgettable. Thankfully, we have enough leftovers to make for another great meal today. We now have a new favorite restaurant near our home in Durham.

There's not a ton of seating, but we got a table quickly. The service was quick, and even though the place was small, it felt more cozy than cramped. I liked having the menu on the wall! They had two vegan options, and my partner & I both got the Biang Biang noodles. It was good, and perhaps even better the next day (the serving was big enough that I couldn't finish it). My sister got the Jjajiang Mian & absolutely loved it. This was a very positive experience, but not mindblowing--I think that the hype around the "M" restaurants perhaps raised my expectations a bit too much. It's also possible that their non-vegan options are stronger than their vegan options. Overall, though, very yummy, the prices are very reasonable for Durham ($16 for the Biang Biang noodles), and I would come back & try the veggie curry if given the chance.

While the noodles were well cooked and packed with flavor, I felt that the dish was far too oily and without much tofu/protein. Perhaps the other meals are less oily and more protein packed, but for being the only vegan option available that day, unfortunately this is all I have to offer at this time.

The staff are incredibly friendly and hardworking, and the atmosphere feels both welcoming and authentic. All items are affordable and with reasonable prices! It's the only legit dim sum place near Chapel Hill/Carrboro, about a 25-minute drive for us--and we gladly make the trip almost every week. We simply can't get enough of their food! Warning: Everything on their menu is dangerously addictive. You've been warned! Our Favorites 2. Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai / Siomai) -- Steamed pork in a wonton wrapper, perfectly juicy with just the right balance of pork and vegetables in every bite. A delicious classic done right. 6. Beef Onion Dumpling in Chili Sauce -- One of the best dumplings we've had--and we've been to dim sum spots all over the world! The beef is flavorful and juicy, wrapped in a thin, perfectly chewy skin. The chili sauce complements the filling beautifully without overpowering it. Generous portion, amazing value, flawless execution. 9. Steamed BBQ Pork Bun -- Soft, fluffy buns filled with mildly sweet BBQ pork. Comforting, classic, and delicious every time. 11. Egg Yolk Bun -- Lightly sweet custard filling inside soft steamed buns. The perfect bite of dessert to end your dim sum feast. 16. Bean Skin Stuffed with Pork -- Juicy, lightly seasoned pork wrapped in delicate bean skin. Flavorful but not overpowering--simple and satisfying. 27. Crispy Shrimp Ball -- Juicy and lightly seasoned shrimp goodness inside a crispy ball. They disappeared into the void of my stomach as soon as they touched our table. 28. Crispy Taro Puff with Chicken -- Think of these as bite-sized empanadas with savory, well-seasoned chicken inside--like the best mini chicken pot pies! Crispy, flavorful, and completely addictive. I could easily eat 30 of these! 41. Crispy Beef Onion Pot Sticker -- Pan-fried to golden perfection for that satisfying crunch. The beef and chives inside are juicy and flavorful, and the portions are generous. I dream about these dumplings when I'm asleep. Absolute perfection. Take all my money! The Finishing Touch Dim sum is meant to be enjoyed with tea, and they offer a simple traditional brew that pairs beautifully with every dish. If there's one downside--it's that they're only open Friday through Sunday. We wish they were open all week! Everything on their menu is so good! Best Dimsum and service in Durham!

Objectively speaking, this is one of the better dim sum options within the area, and is a great…read morelocation to get some of the classic dim sum options. I've had the pleasure of eating some really good dim sum, and while I can admit that the dim sum here will never be as good as places in New York, I can say that they do a decent job and that the experience will be enjoyable for any eater. Rather than delivering dishes on the traditional cart, Dim Sum Asian Bistro uses a menu where you can mark off the dishes that you want. There are a lot of different steamed, fried, and a la carte options that you can choose from. A lot of the basics are done pretty well. They have good pan fried dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shao mai, and coconut pudding. They also have some other, complex dishes that we really enjoy. Their curry powder turnip cake is some of the best out there. The curry flavor pops and the fry is absolutely perfect. Crispy on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. They also make their chicken feet really well, which is a tough one to do sometimes. I know that there will be some good options. Although Dim Sum Asian Bistro has some good things, they also serve some things that you would just be better off not ordering. They have three different types of rice crepe dishes with meat. Their best is easily the shrimp, and you should stick to that. In fact, I would avoid the beef version at all costs, it is made with a beef paste and the texture was so strange, it was kind of unappetizing! I also think their fried rice could use some work, and I think some items, like their custard buns, could have come from the frozen section. I think my family can be pretty critical about dim sum since it has been a big part of our personal culture. However, sometimes I feel I need to take a step back and look at it broadly. I've come here with some of my friends who don't eat dim sum consistently and they are always wowed by the experience. From that perspective, I can see how this place hits the mark. They serve pretty authentic food and make it taste good. There is always a buzz about the restaurant and people come and go over the weekend. It's no wonder you might have to wait to get a table, Dim Sum Asian Bistro is definitely doing something right!
