I love ramen and food halls! Tried Corner Yaki, and without a doubt the friendliest staff! Had a lovely conversation with the young man taking my order. Durham Food Hall is a very nice place in a historic tobacco auction location. Seating was ample. Pricing here was a little higher than other food halls I have been in. I had ramen and crab rangoons. This place was really good! We got the bahn mi and the bread was so soft and delicious. The mushrooms were really good and flavorful, filled with a delicious sauce. This felt like an experience. The cucumber salad wasn't my favorite only because it felt overly oily and the pieces were huge but it was ok. Overall, would come back and try more! read more

The first time we came to Corner Yaki, they told us they were closed and wouldn't open for the next thirty minutes. Which was concerning, as it was 11:26, and they open at 11. So we came back the next day, same time, and they were open. My boyfriend and I both ordered the "Mall" Chicken. We decided to share an order of Onigiri. After receiving our food, the cashier wouldn't give my boyfriend any plasticware, or chopsticks, after he said he wasn't comfortable with eating silverware. So, I went over myself, and I was at least given chopsticks, but still no plasticware, so we were forced to eat with silverware. We both agreed that the mall chicken was tasty at first. But, the asparagus was quite hard to chew, and the teriyaki sauce was extremely salty. We both began eating the onigiri, but after taking a bite at whatever was inside, we weren't too pleased. Grabbed dinner from here recently and enjoyed my food. I ordered the Galbi rice bowl and it took a little longer than I expected, but I ordered a beer at the nearby bar to kill some time :) I was surprised that the short ribs were bone-in since that made it a little challenging to eat them with the rice, kimchi, and spicy cucumbers in the dish. I just kind of picked them up with my hands and demolished them, which was a little messy but got the job done. The kimchi was very tasty and I liked the dish overall. I would definitely come back here again but would probably try a different dish next time. read more

We ordered the chicken and ginger dumplings which were $12. They were so incredibly salty it was inedible. I had high hopes due to the pictures and presentations but it was god awful. I thought maybe it was just the sauce but the filling was also really salty. It tasted like I just got waterboarded by the ocean. maybe the other stuff is good but don't get the dumplings. read more

Oh my. Where do I begin. This was by far my favorite choice in the Durham food hall. The service was great- very helpful and let me mix and Match!! We stopped by the Durham Food Hall and I enjoyed my food from Corner Yaki. I had the karage bar, it had a good flavor, not greasy. I really liked the short rib dumplings also, a nice portion and the braised short rib worked very well as a filling. I found the edamame not as spicy and unique as I expected, nothing wrong with them but not as good as the other dishes. read more

I love this little place in the Durham food hall. It's probably my fave eatery in there. The staff is always always always sweet and attentive. It's hard to decide what to order but the fries and the crab bao have to be favorite. I promise to expand my order and try something different eventually but it's just so good! A welcome and tasty addition to the Durham Food Hall, Corner Yaki serves a variety of Asian foods. There are bao buns (the kind where a round soft steamed bread is folded around fillings rather than the fully encased steamed kind), rice bowls, noodle soups, dumplings (what I'd call wontons), and my favorite, the okonomiyaki (a pancake with cabbage and other accompaniments). So far I've gone back for their okonomiyaki with pork belly (you can also get it with mushroom) twice, on consecutive weekends. The pork belly is the perfect mix of savory and slightly sweet, and they hit the same savory sweet notes with the generous sauces on top. We've also enjoyed the karaage (lightly breaded and fried) chicken bao, which were nicely set off by a flavorful mayo and some pickles to cut through the fat. I like that they have the vibrating alert thingies to hand out, so you don't have to awkwardly wait around the counter for your name to be called. I've noticed they don't always have online ordering turned on at busy times, but turnaround has been quick both times I ordered at the counter. read more

First off food is nasty that was my first and last time there I tried the ramen soup with the pork belly nasty and some guy at the register recommended me this which he lied and said it was good they also didn't use gloves on certain peoples food I seen them making like covid not still floating around I've been to plenty of fast food type restaurants and still have gotten better service and food and the guy who says he owns the restaurant seems a little you know what I mean read more

Ordered the okonomiyaki pancake with pork belly. It was packed with flavor and extremely varied. Seafood from bonito flakes, creamy yum yum sauce, salty pork. Like nothing I would normally find at home. It's definitely enough for a meal. read more

I was so excited to try this place but it was a huge disappointment. I got the Tori Ramen. The noodle was cooked correctly and the broth was ok(just lacked depth). It was missing the Menma, the egg wasn't cut, and worst of all the mustard greens weren't washed so it was full of sand. My friend got karaage buns and Okonomiyaki. The food was okay, but not great. Especially given the price. The service was courteous. My main gripe was that we had pre-ordered the food for pickup, showed up at pickup time and still had to wait 25 minutes for our four dishes, despite it not seeming like a busy day. read more

We had the ramen that is supposed to have char siu but it was thick cut bacon. The veggie was mustard green which has no place in ramen. The egg was good, but that's about all. It's the worst bowl of ramen I've had and it feels like an affront to Asian food. read more
