Chicken mushroom noodles

Got the food truck at Duke, just tried the dumplings and my friends rice noodles. The line was super long so I thought the food would def be fire (it was). The dumplings were really really good and tasted authentic, but I wish they were a bit fresher. When I ordered he just grabbed a box from a heater or smth and they weren't super warm. Next time I definitely want to try the egg drop / wonton soup. EDIT: 2nd time I tried their spicy chicken mushroom noodles, and they were super super good. Could've benefitted from more mix-ins and meat since I ended up just having noodles left about halfway through but the actual taste was 10/10.

This made Yelp's top Chinese places list. You wouldn't think much looking at it, in a somewhat dilapidated parking lot that feels like you took a wrong turn as it's hidden away from a larger shopping center. The arrangement is unconventional, with an ordering kiosk in front of the kitchen and a handful of outdoor tables and an indoor seating area in a separate space. The spartan digs say that whatever success this place has, it must be because of the food. They have a vegan menu with some good-looking options, including multiple dumpling selections, noodles, and some kind of veggie burger. My tofu and mushroom dumplings were savory and delicious, and the noodles were a bigger bowl than I was expecting and had a delightful shredded vegetable and peanut mix for substance. I passed over fancier options, but I didn't regret coming here.

This place is strictly takeout so be prepared to order online or through the outdoor kiosk. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there was no line or wait. Once I placed my order, the wait was about 10 minutes and my order was brought out to me. The dumplings were fresh and soft and the filling was tasty but enhanced with the accompanying sauce. I will definitely try some of the other items on the menu.

I've always driven past this place on trips, but finally trying it was the best choice of my life! The minimalist design to the place made it feel so welcoming. With the table being adorned with beautiful graffiti and heartfelt messages, with the markers on the tables encouraging you to contribute! A unique addition that kinda warmed my heart. The service was quick, with a terminal order system that was easy to use and comprehensive (and had great sound design) and shortly after the order was placed the food came right out. Speaking of that food, it was AMAZING! I ordered the Who Knows Combo Dumplings, which was just a random assortment of dumplings. It was a randomized 10 piece tasting platter of all of their options, I don't think I can get that anywhere else! I also had one of their Pork Buns, which was light and flavorful, with a nice and tender pork filling. Finally, I had their Grapefruit Grape Tea. And it was quite surprising to say the least, I never expected it to have a jelly solid like Boba! I picked it on a whim and definitely didn't regret it, it was nice and refreshing with a perfect sweet flavor. If you're ever in the area, this place is 100% worth the visit! So stop by, get some easts, and maybe contribute to the graffiti table!

This place was fantastic. There is not a lot of seating but it was perfect for a quick bit while on the road and you can order to go. They make these delicious burgers that are nothing like a traditional hamburger but the filling and the bun is wonderful. Will definitely be back!

Cute little takeout spot directly next to Namu. I wouldn't recommend planning to actually eat here (ie "dine in") unless you're just grabbing a quick bite by yourself like I did, since there's just two little tables out front, but it's totally fine for takeout. Keep in mind that parking can be pretty limited so it might be better to come outside of peak times. I came around 11:30am on a Friday and was fine. My dumplings were reasonably priced and pretty tasty, def hit the spot as a quick meal. They weren't mind shattering or anything but they definitely tasted fresh and like they were good quality. I'd love to try their buns in the future since they were sold out when I came (at least, that's what the screen said).

My friends and I ordered take out from Sister Liu's on a weekday afternoon. I ordered the pork burger since it seemed to be one of the more popular items on the menu. The bun was crunchy and there was a good amount of pork inside. I didn't order the spicy version since my spice tolerance isn't very high, but I wished I had gotten the spicy pork burger since the pork I had wasn't very flavorful. I tried one of my friend's dumplings and it was so good - the skin was super thick and chewy! Overall, I had a good experience with Sister Liu's and will definitely be back for the dumplings!

This place has been on my list every time I have been to the research triangle. And this past time I went to Durham with my partner, I finally got to try it! Delicious homemade dumplings at such a great price! They have a big dumpling selection to choose from: pork, beef, veggie, tofu, shrimp, rainbow, etc. You can get them either fresh or frozen! They also have a variety of other Chinese dishes such as cold noodles and Chinese burgers. We decided to get the traditional pork and cabbage dumplings ($11) and they were sooo good! One of the best homemade dumplings I have ever had! The wrapper was chewy and soft + the filling was so flavorful. But what made it better was all the sauces. Definitely get the spicy sauce if you like a bit of kick. My partner also got the Chinese pork burger and loved it. He said it was extremely flavorful. For ordering, you can order online, place a phone order, or order there on a tablet. I recommend ordering online beforehand. We ordered there and it took around ~30 minutes to get out food.

Had this for supper at Havoc Brewing. Friendly and speedy service. The food was good and nicely spicy.

You NEED to try to spicy beef burger!! Beef was tender, so flavorful, and really spicy. The bun was soft, but still had a good amount of chew at the same time. I also got the pork chive dumplings which were also good, but not the star of the show. The dumplings had a lot less filling and more dough than I would've liked, but it was still tasty. I will definitely come back for more of the Chinese burgers!

Got their beef burger, spicy pork burger, and the wontons. Food was pretty good, but my beef burger was pretty dry. I wish there was some sort of sauce that helped with it. Overall, it tasted good. The wontons were veryyyyyy vinegary (a little too much) that couldn't enjoy the soup as much as I would like. The service was good and I got my food pretty quick (10-15 min). I would come back again to try their other dumplings and food items! Just a heads up for anyone who hasn't been here. There's only outside seating only. So if it is a rainy day, prepare for takeout.

Very solid meh. It's ready fast, is warm and soft and comforting, but tastes like nothing. I don't get the hype.

Ask the Community - Sister Liu's Kitchen

Do they have a restroom?

Maybe but it's probably not for customers. It's next door to Namu, just use their restroom. This place is basically like a food truck with a store front. Plan accordingly.

Is Sister Liu's Kitchen Takeout only? Is there a space to sit and eat?

At the moment, Sister Liu's Kitchen is TAKEOUT ONLY. We are currently renovating a space two doors down from our original location, and hope to open it to the public soon!

It was mostly rice mixed with sad iceberg lettuce ( mixed greens ) and the toppings were skimpy. For $18 this was disappointing. It was supposed to have three proteins. I added radish, crunchy onion and edamame. It was sad. In addition to the toppings I ordered there was a bunch of ginger and a marble-sized glob of wasabi hiding in the mix. Glad I avoided being surprised by that. I took the photo after I'd eaten so you can see how much rice was still in the bowl. The waiter was super sweet. He'd do better at another job. I'll stick to Zen Fish. There everything is fresh and vibrant and the choices are more exciting. Plus, their mixed greens are actually 'mixed greens'.

First of all, the AC was not working on the night we visited so things did not get off to a great start. It was warm in the dining area. The lighting was dark (maybe to not add to the heat). The scallops in the marine couple were pretty tasteless. The owner came by and chatted with us a little bit, which is always nice. We've had tastier food at other local Asian restaurants so we'll probably pass on coming back soon. We wish them well.

It's the only legit dim sum place near Chapel Hill/Carrboro, about a 25-minute drive for us--and we gladly make the trip almost every week. We simply can't get enough of their food! Warning: Everything on their menu is dangerously addictive. You've been warned! Our Favorites 2. Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai / Siomai) -- Steamed pork in a wonton wrapper, perfectly juicy with just the right balance of pork and vegetables in every bite. A delicious classic done right. 6. Beef Onion Dumpling in Chili Sauce -- One of the best dumplings we've had--and we've been to dim sum spots all over the world! The beef is flavorful and juicy, wrapped in a thin, perfectly chewy skin. The chili sauce complements the filling beautifully without overpowering it. Generous portion, amazing value, flawless execution. 9. Steamed BBQ Pork Bun -- Soft, fluffy buns filled with mildly sweet BBQ pork. Comforting, classic, and delicious every time. 11. Egg Yolk Bun -- Lightly sweet custard filling inside soft steamed buns. The perfect bite of dessert to end your dim sum feast. 16. Bean Skin Stuffed with Pork -- Juicy, lightly seasoned pork wrapped in delicate bean skin. Flavorful but not overpowering--simple and satisfying. 27. Crispy Shrimp Ball -- Juicy and lightly seasoned shrimp goodness inside a crispy ball. They disappeared into the void of my stomach as soon as they touched our table. 28. Crispy Taro Puff with Chicken -- Think of these as bite-sized empanadas with savory, well-seasoned chicken inside--like the best mini chicken pot pies! Crispy, flavorful, and completely addictive. I could easily eat 30 of these! 41. Crispy Beef Onion Pot Sticker -- Pan-fried to golden perfection for that satisfying crunch. The beef and chives inside are juicy and flavorful, and the portions are generous. I dream about these dumplings when I'm asleep. Absolute perfection. Take all my money! The Finishing Touch Dim sum is meant to be enjoyed with tea, and they offer a simple traditional brew that pairs beautifully with every dish. If there's one downside--it's that they're only open Friday through Sunday. We wish they were open all week! Everything on their menu is so good! Best Dimsum and service in Durham!

While their noodles are definitely a standout in terms of texture and chew, some of the dishes we ordered this time were a letdown... Between the three of us, we tried two noodle dishes (hand pulled noodles with spare ribs & shaved noodles with bean paste aka zha jiang mian) and two regular dishes that came with rice (eggplant with garlic sauce & Hunan roasted pork aka hong shao rou). Outside of the regular menu that comes in a giant booklet, we also ordered the salted egg yolk lava buns off of their separate dim sum menu. In terms of the good, I absolutely LOVED the texture of the shaved noodles and also really enjoyed the texture of the hand pulled noodles, though I personally prefer a wider noodle which would be the shaved ones. Additionally, the eggplant with garlic sauce was solid and so were the salted egg yolk lava buns! Now in terms of the not so great, while we understand that Hunan roasted pork comes with pork belly which can be fatty, many of the pork belly pieces in this dish were pretty much all fat with no lean meat (basically inedible) which I have not seen in this dish at other restaurants. Also, the sauce that came with the shaved noodles was very one dimensional and just tasted of sweet bean paste with very little savory / umami flavor.
