I ordered online thinking it was close to my house. It turned out to be 16 miles away. Since it already was already ordered, but went anyway. It was well worth the drive! The service by Amy was wonderful. It had everything I wanted and look for in a Chinese restaurant: Excellent food taste and quality, Reasonable prices, Perfect portions, and open until 11PM when I usually crave Chinese food. i love chopstix so much i order it at least once a week. their steamed dumplings are some of the best ive ever had and thats coming from a woman whos diet is 50% dumplings. the wonton egg drop is deeelicioussss!!! the beef and broccoli is the perfect combo of succulent beef and crunchy fresh broccoli! i have ordered some things that i wasnt super fond of like the mapo tofu which had no meat in it and was somewhat sour, mapo tofu ive had in the past has had ground beef and been more savory. but i have found the dishes on the menu that i do genuinely love and i think i'll keep ordering them for a long time read more

Went to the little hole in the wall based on fellow Yelper reviews. When you're in a shopping center anchored with Big Lots and Carlie C's, you're definitely not in the Hamptons. The parking lot was in disrepair and just an overall disaster. That being said, the inside of Chopstix isn't exactly tidy, but the have a nice buffet setup and some tables that were old, but clean. The 96.5 sanitary rating was reassuring. The lady running the counter was extremely kind and spoke Chinese, Spanish, and English. She made sure I had a fork, hot sauce, and brought my Hunan Chicken from the kitchen. Let me say that it was a dinner portion at lunch portion pricing. $7.50 for the quart with steamed rice and an egg roll made it $10 with tax. That same meal would be $15 any other place. The food was cooked beautifully and everything was quite flavorful. This place isn't just good because it was less expensive; it was just plain good and happened to be $10. Look! I don't know what some people are expecting. This is a Chinese buffet in a aged strip mall off Avondale with Compare Foods as the anchor store. If I'm looking for elegance, I ain't coming here. However, if I want to get a balanced belly full of streamed, salted shrimp, octopus, fresh broccoli, fried Tilapia, beef and broccoli, egg rolls, etc. for $6......I'm coming here. This is my spot! I've never seen any bugs, the service is super quick, the food has been consistent and I can eat an unprocessed meal for less than buying a box of crackers at Whole Foods. The leather seats in the booths are cracked and the wall art is less than to be desired. Sometimes they have their younger children helping out. But hey, that's what mom-n-pops are all about. I realize some are too uppity to enter a place such as this. I'm not. Once again, I love supporting small restaurants and these guys produce a consistent product at a great price. I will never order from this restaurant again. I ordered from there maybe five times and stopped for a while due to the driver taking forever. I ordered again recently and then again tonight. I always order online and always four extra wontons in the wonton soup. In the notes I write-in caps - FOUR EXTRA WONTONS PLEASE. I WILL PAY EXTRA. In fact that window has a note indicating that anything extra would be charged to me. As it absolutely should! I've always paid extra for wontons at any other restaurant, so why should this be any different? I assume that since the restaurant indicates that I would be charged, that they would take it from my payment when the order is processed (this is how online ordering systems usually work). Tonight I placed my order at 7:38 pm, and my email confirmation said it would arrive at 8:33 pm. Now I totally get that the time is not absolutely precise lol and I don't even care that it's an hour- no problem. But 9pm came so I called and was told that the order just left and it's on its way. 15 more minutes passed and I called back and was told that they would call the driver and see where they are. 15 more minutes passed and I called again thinking well hopefully someone would try to let me know what's going on. As she answered the delivery lady arrived so I hung up with her to accept the order. No apology from the order or the restaurant. I asked the driver why my order took 2 hours and she laughed at me and said "um there were other deliveries before you." Online, included in my payment, was a 20% tip. But after being treated so rudely, I called the restaurant back and asked for the tip to be credited back to my account. And this is where the problems became worse. I don't know if I was speaking to the owner (I certainly hope not - but if so, it would explain the poor ratings), but she had the nerve to ask me why! I told her why but quickly realized she had some pent up issues with the fact that I never pay for my extra wontons lol! I really almost wanted to laugh! Since I'm writing a book on the decline of customer service in the US, this is pure gold! Anyway, she tells me that she won't refund the tip because she's going to charge me for the extra wontons! She was seriously enraged about the wontons. "You always order four extra but I never charge you for them because I don't want to call you for just that." Dude.... that's your issue! In each order I say to charge me for them! I tried and tried and tried to explain to her that my point is something separate- it's about the tip due to my order taking two hours and being laughed at when I asked why. But she wouldn't even let me get a word in edgewise! She was stuck on the wonton issue. So I asked how much extra and she said $2 and I ordered two so that means $4. Ok absolutely! Charge me for them - I am eating them so please charge me for them! With tax it was $4.15. So I asked her to credit me 85 cents. She started again, as though I had no right to the 85 cents, and I said hold on, where is the customer service here? I'm only asking for my tip back- other people would want their entire order credited! She told me that customers also have to make her happy lmao! I even asked her to go through my previous orders and charge me for the wontons if it bothers her so much - remember that SHE chose not to charge me for them! How much more passive aggressive can someone be?! Then she started about her driver's car broke down and the tip is also for gas money ...and she needs to keep her employees happy. (Odd that the car breakdown was the same excuse the last time with another driver.) I commended her for wanting to support her employees but let's not forget that it's because of customers that make it possible for her to even have employees. If someone takes a job that depends on tips... well they have to deserve that tip. A simple "sorry about that" would have worked wonders. I guess she cares more about customers making her and her drivers happy than wanting more more business? I don't get it. They have certainly lost my business. I will not refer anyone else to them either. In summary: If you want your food delivered in less than two hours, eat somewhere else. And don't pay online! read more

Let's begin with the obvious and most blaring detail ....it's a $5.39 Chinese buffet. Intuitively, at least it should be intuitive, this means a few things: 1) it's a small buffet, I would say about 15-20 items on average. 2) it's not the nicest buffet that you will ever see, it's in a small shopping center and looks pretty run down, kind of sketchy, but...it's a $5.39 buffet. 3) As others have said in their reviews, the health rating is lower than average, but, if you've ever worked in restaurants and seen the details of a health screening....they're really kind of silly. I've eaten there many, many times (ballin' on a budget) and have never contracted anything or felt sick at all. So you may ask why I'm choosing to write such a lengthy review about such a small, cheap buffet? Well, the owners / service at this place is just great! I've been to this buffet a handful of times over the past few years. In line with previous reviewers, my rating's based on value: you don't go in to a meal this cheap with sky-high expectations. The ambiance of Chopstix is fairly poor - the interior is outdated, as well as the exterior. The owner and staff are very pleasant. There isn't an amazing array of food, just the basics: various chicken dishes, shrimp and various seafood, fried rice, cheese wontons, soup, egg and spring rolls, etc. White rice must be requested. Don't expect any fresh produce, outside of some sliced melon. The food isn't mind-blowing; for the most part, it's just average American-Chinese fare. I wouldn't recommend this place to absolutely everyone. Really, though, Chopstix is a decent meal and an amazing value. read more

First off this place gets 2 stars simply because it's the only Chinese restaurant that will deliver to my college's campus. However, that's about the only reason it gets two stars other than the fact that their cheese wontons are amazing. The rest of their food is just disgusting because it tastes like it has been sitting out for a couple of days and they microwave it and send it to you anyways. My boyfriend and I attempted to place an order yesterday, after which we received a call saying that my card was declined. I thought maybe it was a travel thing, as I am from Florida, but I didn't receive a text alert from my bank. So then my boyfriend suggested to the woman that perhaps they entered the delivery zip code (in Durham) as the billing zip code (in FL). However upon further investigation, I discovered that I had in fact been charged. When my boyfriend told the woman on the phone this, she replied "if you ordered online you need to address the order online" (which, by the way, there is no way to do this), and then she hung up. I am thoroughly unimpressed with the manner in which she handled the situation. I had to have my bank do a charge back this morning for the food that I paid for but never received. I can't believe that any food is worth putting up with that rudeness. read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM CHOPSTIX! By far, the worst Chinese food -- and, some of the worst food period -- I've ever tried to eat! I ordered delivery and the driver took at least 90 minutes. The food was soaked, caked in grease! I put the bag down on my counter and picked it up and there was a puddle of grease, oil the width of the bottom of the bag on the counter. The egg rolls were soaked in oil. I squeezed them will a few paper towels and still couldn't get the oil to stop dripping out of them. The fried rice was extremely salty and basically burned. Nice service, and at $5.85 TOTAL, after tax, per person for an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet, it's hard to complain. This is a ridiculously fair price for endless super-fatty, greasy edibles. I've heard good things about ordering off the menu but haven't ever done so myself. This buffet is smaller than those mega-neon palaces, and I like it that way. The restaurant is really more of a combination between a corner takeout joint, complete with a backlit picture menu, and a buffet. It has most of the standard Chinese buffet offerings, minus what seems to be the peculiarly southern custom of offering dreadful pizza, macaroni, and mashed potatoes under the guise of a Chinese restaurant (in NYC, this would almost qualify an establishment for hot bar deli status). I did spy one or two random fried items, but they didn't go way out on a limb like some buffets do by offering something crazy like baked spaghetti. The entree section of the buffet had various meat-with-vegetables dishes, sauteed string beans, sesame chicken, etc. etc. One or two were a bit too salty, which may have been the result of sitting on a steam table, but generally it was all completely satisfactory in the taste department--nothing wholly wrong or too sweet. I was dismayed that there weren't any vegetarian offerings with tofu, but I'm sure they rotate those in. The sesame chicken was especially succulent. No big flashy crab legs or clams when I was there, and I can't imagine them offering those at this bargain price, but I think there may be an occasional shrimp cocktail offering. The fried section had those Chicken McNugget-shaped nuggets that stormed onto the scene a few years ago (yay). There was also a small amount of sushi and a fruit/dessert area. No ice cream or frozen yogurt. White rice must be requested, which can create just enough of a layer of self-induced social shame to thwart your best efforts at completely gorging yourself on wicked unhealthiness. Decent amount of traffic kept the food reasonably fresh. I came here with a work friend and was eager to throw caution to the wind and stuff my face with junk food. They handled the job with aplomb, though a chaser of ice cream would have been a nice cherry on top of my oil-and-refined-grain sundae. I don't usually frequent Chinese buffets because they seem like grease-fests that sacrifice quality and taste, but given that that characterization applies to all of these places, I just can't see a reason to pay more elsewhere unless there is a specific offering or dish preparation you want, e.g., hibachi grill, big sushi selection, etc. Great value for what you get. read more

We have always been treated well while visiting this restaurant and they have always went above and beyond to ensure we are satisfied.
