We ordered a bunch of dishes to share family style, and despite how many people we had, the food came out at a reasonable pace. The service was friendly, and everything we ordered was exactly what you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant. Nothing really stood out, but everything was good and hit the spot. Since we had such a large group and ordered so much food (not everything is pictured), they even surprised us with a complimentary candied sweet potato dessert at the end. It was my first time trying it, and it was my favorite dish. Overall, it's a solid place to check out if you're craving Chinese food, especially if you're dining with a larger group!

The restaurant is small, cozy, and clean. The service was great and, most importantly, the food was delicious. We ordered Chongqing spicy chicken (重慶辣子雞), green beans (乾煸四季豆), shredded pork with dried tofu (香干肉絲), salt-and-pepper fish fillets (椒鹽魚片), salt-and-pepper shrimp (椒鹽蝦), and Singapore-style fried rice vermicelli (新加坡炒米粉). Everything was flavorful and enjoyable. My only minor complaint was that the Singapore rice noodles was not as dry - it was more sautéed then it was stir-fried. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely return!

The lunch special pricing is definitely the main draw, and it's hard to beat for the amount of food you get. That said, the execution is a bit mixed. The General Tso's chicken was very bready, with not as much actual chicken as I would've liked, which took away from the overall experience. Another downside is that they've removed the free soup that used to come with the lunch special. It's a small thing, but it did add value before and is missed. One more thing for me is that they have no ice, so you are having luke warm water or drinks. Overall, it's not bad for a quick, affordable meal, but there are enough small drawbacks that it lands more in the average category. Decent value, just not something that stands out.

I went for dinner on a Saturday and it was packed so expect a slight wait at peak hours. Parking can also be tight as it is located downtown. We were seated quickly and our food came out FAST! Great service. My friend and I shared the Scallion Pancake, Bang Bang Shrimp, Dry-Sautéed Green Beans, and Spicy Crispy Fish. We definitely got one too many dishes, but I am glad we got to try them. The Scallion Pancake was solid. It had the right amount of thinness and flakiness. I would love to taste more scallion next time, though. I think that the sauce that it came with was a bit sweet and I would rather a more savory or saltier sauce to pair with the pancake. The Bang Bang Shrimp was under the appetizer category but it looked like an entree. Lots of small shrimp in a creamy, sweet, and spicy chili sauce. I loved it! The Dry-Sauteed Green Beans were probably my least favorite dish. I wish it had a taste (or more of a taste) of soy sauce or garlic, but it was still decent. The Crispy Spicy Fish is definitely one of the most popular dishes here and it lived it up to the hype! Not sure what seasonings were on the fish, but it tasted a bit salty, spicy, and savory. The fish also tasted fresh to me. We also received complimentary rice, which was needed with our savory dishes! I would definitely come back here in the future! There are so many options for food on their menu and almost everything was a hit. Plus, service was fantastic. I recommend going with a large group to do family style and really try a lot of the menu items.

Often times I find that the little red pepper on many Chinese menus mean nothing. Here, they mean "this is going to be really spicy!" I have been told that you ask for something that isn't on the menu, they can often gladly make it for you. So... yeah. TBH -- the more American-Chinese dishes aren't anything special. I had someone's General Tsao and it was way spicier than most (which was great) but really, really, goopy and sugary (which wasn't.) All in all, if you're adventurous, and you're tired of the same old American-Chinese I would give this place a run and I would actually avoid those items on the menu should you dine here.

The delicious smells wafting through the restaurant immediately let me know that I was in the right place. I ordered the Fatty Beef Szechuan Hotpot Yunnan Rice Noodle & Fried Dumplings. Both arrived in no time, and were piping hot on a cold winter's day. The fried dumplings were crispy, not at all greasy, and filled with very flavorful filling, coupled with a perfectly paired dipping sauce. The hotpot... oh, the hotpot, was filled with pillowy fried tofu, fatty and tender beef, cabbage, wood ear mushroom shreds, seaweed, bean sprouts, and a ton of noodles. All of this was swimming in some of the most amazing Szechuan peppercorn broth that was spicy, but not numbing and not overpowering. It was the perfect broth to wrap each ingredient in flavor. After I finished all of the delicious beef and veggies, I went for the noodles. I never really new what "bouncy" meant when describing noodles until today. They were truly bouncy in with every bite, silky smooth, tender but with a little bit of bite to them. I ate every morsel that I could fit in my stomach and not explode... this was the perfect winter dish for this South Florida eater.

The quail egg was the heart of it. Got the bone broth this time. While the broth is good, it's not great to the point I'd crave for this. I'm honestly not a big fan of the rice noodles but they went well with the broth. My girl got the noodle dish with the beef tripe, and we also ordered beef tripe for appetizer and milky rice cake for dessert. The beef tripe is one of our favorite appetizers, and it's perfect with Japanese beer. The noodles are a bit spicy but the spice level was adjusted low to my girl's liking. The rice cakes were good but not the best we've tried. It's something we'd order again though. The beef and lamb skewers were good as they had a nice smokey flavor to them and they weren't too spicey. The salad was good as well. I've had the pleasure of eating some really good dim sum, and while I can admit that the dim sum here will never be as good as places in New York, I can say that they do a decent job and that the experience will be enjoyable for any eater. Rather than delivering dishes on the traditional cart, Dim Sum Asian Bistro uses a menu where you can mark off the dishes that you want. There are a lot of different steamed, fried, and a la carte options that you can choose from. A lot of the basics are done pretty well. They have good pan fried dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shao mai, and coconut pudding. They also have some other, complex dishes that we really enjoy. Their curry powder turnip cake is some of the best out there. The curry flavor pops and the fry is absolutely perfect. Crispy on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. They also make their chicken feet really well, which is a tough one to do sometimes. I know that there will be some good options. Although Dim Sum Asian Bistro has some good things, they also serve some things that you would just be better off not ordering. They have three different types of rice crepe dishes with meat. Their best is easily the shrimp, and you should stick to that. In fact, I would avoid the beef version at all costs, it is made with a beef paste and the texture was so strange, it was kind of unappetizing! I also think their fried rice could use some work, and I think some items, like their custard buns, could have come from the frozen section. I think my family can be pretty critical about dim sum since it has been a big part of our personal culture. However, sometimes I feel I need to take a step back and look at it broadly. I've come here with some of my friends who don't eat dim sum consistently and they are always wowed by the experience. From that perspective, I can see how this place hits the mark. They serve pretty authentic food and make it taste good. There is always a buzz about the restaurant and people come and go over the weekend. It's no wonder you might have to wait to get a table, Dim Sum Asian Bistro is definitely doing something right!
