Good standard takeaway Chinese place. The boneless spare ribs were packed with flavor and incredibly tasty. General Chos was surprisingly gingery, which I liked.

I love mom & pops Chinese restaurants. It could either be a hit or a miss. This one was a special hit! I was quite impressed! I was craving simple Chinese takeout and this place did the trick. I ordered some shrimp and broccoli, which came with a side of white rice. The portion didn't seem a lot at first but once I poured it on my plate, WOW! Shrimp & Broccoli - The sauce complimented it just the way I like it. There was just enough sauce to give it a kick. The shrimps were huge! Most places cheap put on the shrimp. The broccoli also had a nice bite and crunch to it. Dumplings: Must have! Not your typical dumplings. Super flavorful with a nice texture to the wrapper. It also came with a special sauce that was out of this world. Overall, good customer service! Constant traffic during dinner time, which means that it's good!

I recently moved to NC from out of state, so I'm always on the lookout for good food. Someone I met told me this place had such good Chinese food. I'm here to say it does NOT. I went for the first time tonight, and this is how it went: We arrived at almost 7pm, there was no one inside, but right as we ordered, a line began to form. We placed our order and waited. After 10 more people came in and ordered, it was crowded, so I thought, "This place must be good!" The food is not good. Customer service was terrible as well. We watched the person who took orders, cooked with one other person, then bag food, and gave it to people who walked in and ordered more than 20 minutes after us. Unacceptable! These were not call-in orders. I asked if our food was ready, and she said yes and handed someone else their food. We waited almost an hour to receive our food after watching several people walk in, order, pay, and then receive their food. Our order was relatively small. Terrible service. (Strike 1) After we finally received our food, we drove home to eat our broccoli and beef, chicken fried rice, and a few other items. The rice was not good, and I'm not accustomed to yellow rice as fried rice. (Strike 2) Finally, the beef was pink in some spots inside, and some parts of the chicken inside the chicken fried rice were raw ( Strike 3) I don't know if this was because they rushed and were overwhelmed by the influx of people - but this was the worst I've had in years. I'm very disappointed in how we were treated and how the food was served. Now, there were only 2 people on staff, so obviously, they need help, but this was a first-time experience that will never be repeated. I only gave 2 stars because the fried chicken wings were cooked, and the crab ragoon was mediocre. Otherwise, it would be a '0' We did not like it, and this place was packed. So now I think people don't know that there are indeed much better options, and they simply must be accustomed to this place. But never again. Very disappointed, and if I wasn't so tired, I would drive back and ask for a refund and give them their food back.

Food was very oily ...and extremely deep fried. Pork fried rice was very basic (was more like yellow rice with a few pieces of roast pork) Egg roll was a standard pre frozen piece.. ...and then refried again to reheat. The chicken in the general tso was overly fried, which makes me think it was pre fried and just reheated over and over again. Was a bad experience for this type of food. They need to really focus on more their customers, time management, and quality control. Really ws hopeful after seeing some reviews, but in the end, the food did not live up to expectation. I think the garbage saw more of the food than my stomach.

Yummy, yummy, in my tummy!! I was having a craving for Chinese and my usual place isn't open for lunch on Saturday (Say, what?!) so I started looking on Yelp. I wanted to stay relatively close to home on this rainy day and saw consistently good ratings for Hong Kong, so we headed over. Egg foo young is pretty hard to find in the Triangle and I was happy to see it on the menu so I gave it a try. Wow, very pleasantly surprised and for $5.25 it was a steal! Two good sized patties come in the lunch portion with pork fried rice. Pork or chicken are the choices at lunch so I went all in on the piggy! The patty is fried perfectly with just enough crisp on both sides. Lots of pork, onions, and veggies on the inside too. It comes with gravy on the side to add on as much as you want. It was really good! I'd love to try it with shrimp next time. My gold standard on egg foo young was from a place that doesn't exist anymore, Charlie's Chinese in Chapel Hill, but this was definitely one for the running. It's mainly take out, but there are a few tables to eat in. Just order at the counter and wait to be called. When ordering off the regular menu orders come in pint and quart size, which is something I don't see around here much either. They have combination dinner options too. Looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu.

I've had their chicken wings with pork fried rice since I was a kid. The meat and crispy skin is fall off the bone and the duck sauce is amazing with the rice. Definitely my favorite place to go to when I'm in North Carolina!

It was mostly rice mixed with sad iceberg lettuce ( mixed greens ) and the toppings were skimpy. For $18 this was disappointing. It was supposed to have three proteins. I added radish, crunchy onion and edamame. It was sad. In addition to the toppings I ordered there was a bunch of ginger and a marble-sized glob of wasabi hiding in the mix. Glad I avoided being surprised by that. I took the photo after I'd eaten so you can see how much rice was still in the bowl. The waiter was super sweet. He'd do better at another job. I'll stick to Zen Fish. There everything is fresh and vibrant and the choices are more exciting. Plus, their mixed greens are actually 'mixed greens'.

The scallops in the marine couple were pretty tasteless. The owner came by and chatted with us a little bit, which is always nice. The staff are incredibly friendly and hardworking, and the atmosphere feels both welcoming and authentic. All items are affordable and with reasonable prices! It's the only legit dim sum place near Chapel Hill/Carrboro, about a 25-minute drive for us--and we gladly make the trip almost every week. We simply can't get enough of their food! Warning: Everything on their menu is dangerously addictive. You've been warned! Our Favorites 2. Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai / Siomai) -- Steamed pork in a wonton wrapper, perfectly juicy with just the right balance of pork and vegetables in every bite. A delicious classic done right. 6. Beef Onion Dumpling in Chili Sauce -- One of the best dumplings we've had--and we've been to dim sum spots all over the world! The beef is flavorful and juicy, wrapped in a thin, perfectly chewy skin. The chili sauce complements the filling beautifully without overpowering it. Generous portion, amazing value, flawless execution. 9. Steamed BBQ Pork Bun -- Soft, fluffy buns filled with mildly sweet BBQ pork. Comforting, classic, and delicious every time. 11. Egg Yolk Bun -- Lightly sweet custard filling inside soft steamed buns. The perfect bite of dessert to end your dim sum feast. 16. Bean Skin Stuffed with Pork -- Juicy, lightly seasoned pork wrapped in delicate bean skin. Flavorful but not overpowering--simple and satisfying. 27. Crispy Shrimp Ball -- Juicy and lightly seasoned shrimp goodness inside a crispy ball. They disappeared into the void of my stomach as soon as they touched our table. 28. Crispy Taro Puff with Chicken -- Think of these as bite-sized empanadas with savory, well-seasoned chicken inside--like the best mini chicken pot pies! Crispy, flavorful, and completely addictive. I could easily eat 30 of these! 41. Crispy Beef Onion Pot Sticker -- Pan-fried to golden perfection for that satisfying crunch. The beef and chives inside are juicy and flavorful, and the portions are generous. I dream about these dumplings when I'm asleep. Absolute perfection. Take all my money! The Finishing Touch Dim sum is meant to be enjoyed with tea, and they offer a simple traditional brew that pairs beautifully with every dish. If there's one downside--it's that they're only open Friday through Sunday. We wish they were open all week! Everything on their menu is so good! Best Dimsum and service in Durham!

Objectively speaking, this is one of the better dim sum options within the area, and is a great…read morelocation to get some of the classic dim sum options. I've had the pleasure of eating some really good dim sum, and while I can admit that the dim sum here will never be as good as places in New York, I can say that they do a decent job and that the experience will be enjoyable for any eater. Rather than delivering dishes on the traditional cart, Dim Sum Asian Bistro uses a menu where you can mark off the dishes that you want. There are a lot of different steamed, fried, and a la carte options that you can choose from. A lot of the basics are done pretty well. They have good pan fried dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shao mai, and coconut pudding. They also have some other, complex dishes that we really enjoy. Their curry powder turnip cake is some of the best out there. The curry flavor pops and the fry is absolutely perfect. Crispy on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. They also make their chicken feet really well, which is a tough one to do sometimes. I know that there will be some good options. Although Dim Sum Asian Bistro has some good things, they also serve some things that you would just be better off not ordering. They have three different types of rice crepe dishes with meat. Their best is easily the shrimp, and you should stick to that. In fact, I would avoid the beef version at all costs, it is made with a beef paste and the texture was so strange, it was kind of unappetizing! I also think their fried rice could use some work, and I think some items, like their custard buns, could have come from the frozen section. I think my family can be pretty critical about dim sum since it has been a big part of our personal culture. However, sometimes I feel I need to take a step back and look at it broadly. I've come here with some of my friends who don't eat dim sum consistently and they are always wowed by the experience. From that perspective, I can see how this place hits the mark. They serve pretty authentic food and make it taste good. There is always a buzz about the restaurant and people come and go over the weekend. It's no wonder you might have to wait to get a table, Dim Sum Asian Bistro is definitely doing something right!

While their noodles are definitely a standout in terms of texture and chew, some of the dishes we ordered this time were a letdown... Between the three of us, we tried two noodle dishes (hand pulled noodles with spare ribs & shaved noodles with bean paste aka zha jiang mian) and two regular dishes that came with rice (eggplant with garlic sauce & Hunan roasted pork aka hong shao rou). Outside of the regular menu that comes in a giant booklet, we also ordered the salted egg yolk lava buns off of their separate dim sum menu. In terms of the good, I absolutely LOVED the texture of the shaved noodles and also really enjoyed the texture of the hand pulled noodles, though I personally prefer a wider noodle which would be the shaved ones. Additionally, the eggplant with garlic sauce was solid and so were the salted egg yolk lava buns! Now in terms of the not so great, while we understand that Hunan roasted pork comes with pork belly which can be fatty, many of the pork belly pieces in this dish were pretty much all fat with no lean meat (basically inedible) which I have not seen in this dish at other restaurants. Also, the sauce that came with the shaved noodles was very one dimensional and just tasted of sweet bean paste with very little savory / umami flavor.
