Awesome new bakery in Little Italy! We are excited and wanted to try a lot of stuff... ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage on an everything bagel, the borek, a blueberry scone, and a loaf of the sourdough. Everything was great. Breakfast sandwich: egg was perfectly cooked, bagel was great, and the sausage is beyond what you usually expect from a breakfast sausage. Borek: delicious and unique Scone: blueberries were really fresh and delicious. Also had a lemon glaze we really liked. Sourdough: so, so good. A nice thick crust but chewy inside, just like you want from a good sourdough. Was still warm when we got it! This is going to be a regular spot for us. read more

You can't beat ovenbird. It's such an amazing bakery. Dangerously delicious. I wish they held baking classes, I would go. I want to learn how to make those ham and cheese scones! My only complaint is they sell out too quickly. read more

Worth the wait! Very small place, when I stopped there on a Saturday morning, the line was out the door but that was because it is one at a time to go in. Melt in your mouth tart and handheld pie (I had peach) - and not too sweet either! read more

This is probably one of my favorite bakeries. The bagels are DELICIOUS!!! I go here so often after a night shift....it just hits differently after work. For lemon lovers: this is the SPOT!! read more

Delicious sandwiches and pastries. Would definitely eat again next time I'm in Baltimore.

One of our new fav spots for a quick breakfast bite. I go for the everything bagel with homemade herb cream cheese, husband goes for the spicy fennel bagel (so unique!) I've also had a hazelnut and fig shortbread bar which was scrumptious. read more

Came here this past Sunday for some coffee and a savory pastry and it was just perfect! The cooler weather may have been a contributing factor but still, Ovenbird is cute, the people who work there obviously care about their products and their customer service. I asked for a recommendation and was told to try the Pogaca, which I honestly don't remember what was in it, but the flavors were on point, and it was a cute little thing that was just what I was looking for (I don't usually eat breakfast). I also got a latte with skim milk which was good, not too big but not bad. I tried a bite of the almond croissant and it was good too! The area is cute, you can definitely use it as a jumping off point to stroll around. I haven't been to any of the other bakeries in the Baltimore area but I've heard from some people that they like Ovenbird the best so I'd say it's worth checking out for sure! read more

Ovenbird is no joke - this stuff is REALLY good. The bread is delicious here, but bread is only where it starts. Ovenbird serves sandwiches (breakfast & lunch) as well as baked desserts like danishes and cookies. I discovered Ovenbird upon visiting Lexington Mrkt and trying their samples of their blueberry scone. I was transcended - this is undoubtedly the best scone I have ever tasted. More recently I came for late breakfast and ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and raspberry danish. After ordering, the owner Michael asked me if I'd like to try a new version of the sandwich with garlic paste and arugula. I obliged and got to talking further with Michael. He was so kind, told me about his history growing up in the Philippines and his excitement about opening Ovenbird. If he wasn't already kind enough, he offered me some free cookies: salted chocolate chip, MINDBLOWING. And of course the sandwich, with Michael's suggestions, was delicious. I'm excited to return soon! read more

Fabulous. A great breakfast spot. The coffee is excellent. I had a Matcha latte with oat milk. The havarti w turkey on sourdough with turkey was fabulous. Everything bagel was very good. Could do with a little bit more salt. Service was fabulous with the real amazing delight was the salted chocolate chip cookie that they gave us for free because it was our first time. I wish I had a few more of those. Now that I'm back in New York City.!!! read more

Delicious breads, pastries and sandwiches. While the sandwich menu is not extensive, everything is so well done it doesn't matter!

My hubby and I visited Ovenbird on Yelp's recommendation and were left very satisfied with our Sourdough and baguette. We tried the Turkey, Brie and jam sandwich on baguette, a mushroom quiche and a bourek. All were fantastic! The bourek, a Turkish savory pastry with filo dough and cheese, is similar to a Greek tiropita, and was my favorite of the lot. The line on a Saturday morning was 20 min long and in the cold is quite uncomfortable. It would be nice for them to invest in warmers. When I return it'll be on a weekday to avoid the wait. This bakery is a fantastic addition to Little Italy and I do think I prefer it over Cafe Dear Leon. read more

If you've been wondering to find the best bread in the city, look no further than Ovenbird! Tucked away in Little Italy, the unassuming storefront should alert you to the fact that this spot is a hidden gem. Drawn in by the intoxicating smell of freshly baked bread, you are immediately greeted by the warm and welcoming staff, whose big smiles are unmistakable even when hidden behind masks. It is no surprise that there is often a line down the block, but don't worry, it moves quickly! We picked up a loaf of sourdough along with some fresh out the oven challah. I had to break off a piece of the challah immediately--buttery crust with just the right amount of crunch and sweet doughy inside, with flaky sea salt to pull it all together. Cutting into the sourdough, we knew we had struck gold--a satisfying shell with spongy, air pockets galore inside. As if these two weren't tasty enough as, we transformed them into sourdough avocado toast and grilled cheese, with cinnamon challah French toast, for a memorable breakfast for dinner. Can't wait for our next visit Ovenbird! read more

This place was the cutest I loved them. They are obsessed with detail and are so kind. They deserve all my money!!!! I love small businesses like this. I got a coffee, sourdough bread, English muffins, and the Turkey harvian - all so good. I was eyeing the dessert (particularly a peanut butter chocolate pie) but I needed to pass on the sweets. Also the baker did apologize the English muffins were not up to par and offered me a discount. So sweet Wish I could find a spot like this in nyc. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area and you'll understand the 5 star reviews! read more

Love a good neighborhood bakery with a unique menu! This was my first time trying borek which was surprisingly crispy, light, and eggy. I almost prefer it to the Greek pastry tiropita (although my wife would say that's blasphemy). The mushroom and gruyere quiche was pretty good, but I missed out on the flavor of the cheese. The breads were fantastic. Both the baguette and sourdough were golden brown and flaky on the outside and buttery, airy, and springy on the inside. Definitely try them toasted with Kerrygold butter. Hopefully you have a breadbox at home to savor the goods for as long as possible! We actually went back a second time to try a sandwich. The turkey and fig jam was a dope combination. I would have liked the bread warm, but that may be an unpopular opinion. read more

In town visiting and heard about Ovenbird on Yelp. What a great little neighborhood bakery. You could tell it would be good when approaching you could smell the yummy baked goods and then saw the line out the door and down the street! My avocado toast was creamy with just a bit of kick to it, on perfectly toasted bread. My friend had the mushroom and caramelized onion quiche. Dense with mushroom, but packed with flavor! Another had the breakfast sandwich on an English muffin, which was buttery and warm. We also took a goat cheese and onion scone to go - haven't tried it yet but we expect perfection based on everything else we tasted. Definitely pleased to have discovered this little gem this weekend and had a quick and tasty breakfast to go! read more

Great food, reasonably priced! We got a sampling of yummy pastries, and a bagel breakfast sandwich. The everything bagel had a bit of a hot spice on it but otherwise was amazing. Everything was wonderful although I'd go early because the pastries go fast! read more

We were visiting from out of town and not sure where to eat. We feel lucky to have found this little gem. My husband and I had a Croissant, Bacon, Egg, and Cheese & Sausage, Egg, and Cheese on English Muffins, and Raspberry Cheesecake Danish. We also had two iced Americanos. Everything was exceptionally delicious! Staff was super friendly. There was a line, but it moved quickly. We will definitely be returning and would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. read more

This spot has the most incredible baked goods that I've tried in Baltimore. Their special the Nutella banana croissant was out of this world. We also had a breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel that was outstanding, as well as the turkey sandwich which I would also recommend. So, yelp and ovenbird had a giveaway that i signed up for but i am so busy lately that it wasnt a surprise i wasnt able to pick up my freebie. No problem just go there right lol, went there to pick up a breakfast sandwich, i thoroughly enjoyed that one, you could taste the freshness, also ordered a sourdough loaf, polished that as well, no, not all at once lol. Good spot, check em out. read more

This is the place you go when you want quality baked goods with fresh ingredients. Not fancy. Just fresh. My husband had the breakfast bagel sandwich with Za'tar and I had the BALT on sourdough. Amazing bread and just hit the spot! Would highly recommend. Staff provided service with a smile even though they were so busy. read more

Delicious pastries that are perfect for breakfast. We enjoyed a savory goat cheese scone and cheddar, leek and ham quiche - Both delicious. We also grabbed a white chocolate, pistachio and toffee cookie for later and wow, what flavor! Definitely a fun flavor combination I plan to keep in mind for my own baking. Staff are super helpful and everything came out fast, even the quiche, which was warmed. read more

Guys... this is a MUST GO. Cause if you're like me and fantasize about those adorable little (local) cafes/bakeries hidden away in the cutest neighborhoods... yea. This is it. Staff are SUPER friendly and knowledgeable about their breads- I got their Anadama Bread as my first loaf to try from them and was not disappointed. Can't wait to go back to try another! During my visit, I also got (yea, I kinda went overboard) some of their sweets including their Blueberry & Lemon scone (it was fresh out of the oven so still warm!!) and Lemon Puff. Neither was too sweet and went so perfectly with their coffee, which I enjoyed with a friend at a small table right outside the bakery. Couldn't have had been a more lovely morning- made perfect with Ovenbird. read more

Cookies are AMAZING! B'more Sourdough is AMAZING! French baguette? AWFUL. I've had better from the supermarket. It was tasteless & dry. This isn't the first "bad" product that i've had...challah dinner rolls went in trash due to over salting. Is it the product or quality control? I hope it's a just a blip but in the meantime, I'll stick to the cookies & sourdough. read more

I arrived at 8:30am and the line was already quite long I waited about 30 minutes before I was able to place my order. However the wait was well worth it. The focaccia was so bouncy and airy. It was my first time have my sandwich in between focaccia instead of bread and I highly recommend it. The sourdough bread is great as well, pair it with some clam chowder! The staff is very friendly too. This is a hole in the wall I will be returning! read more

I know this is a neighborhood favorite and haven't tried most of their offerings. However, my experience was seriously disappointing. I placed an online order for bagels for a work breakfast. Knowing they only open at 8, I picked the earliest pickup. But they seemed totally unprepared, making me wait half an hour after the pickup time, and were so disorganized, serving other customers in line instead of prioritizing a pre-paid order with a specific pickup time. I guess they don't receive online orders and don't manage them efficiently, but in that case the solution is to close the online portal. After all of it, the bagels were so bad (hard enough to break teeth) that my colleagues (kindly) suggested they may have been stale! read more

The baked goods are high quality. The kouign amann was fantastic; light, crispy and just the right amount of cinnamon. Coffee is just average however. Definitely a great find! read more

I was very excited to check out this hole-in-the-wall bakery in Little Italy. The breads I've had, including the french baguette, kalamata olive, ciabatta, focaccia, and whole-wheat Baltimore sourdough, have been excellent and felt freshly baked. The available selection does change depending on what they baked and is left. The sandwiches and bagel sandwiches are decent, but the breading could use toasting. Even the ham and brie sandwich came cold. The bagels are nicely chewy and seasoned on both sides. The lox bagel sandwich has a good proportion of bagel, lox (generous portion), and cream cheese. They are a bit heavy handed with the capers for my personal preference but you can just nudge some off. Their savory scones and croissants are exceptional in flavor and texture. The staff is a mix of friendly and not so friendly. You can place online orders to avoid the long lines, especially since they recently revamped the much improved page and is consistently available when they're open (previously not the case). read more

My go to pastry spot! There desserts everything you would want. Perfection. Everything is great except I'll pass on the avocado toast. The avocado was more like guacamole and had mayonnaise on it. Definitely not the light breakfast I was looking for. read more

Stumbled upon this spot while walking around close to our hotel and it was a total gem! My friends and I liked it so much that we went 3 days in a row for a quick and delicious breakfast/brunch. No indoor seating so you have to either get lucky enough to snag one of the few tables outside or have somewhere else to eat. Not sure if I will be back to Baltimore, but definitely planning to share this recommendation with anybody I know that will be in the area! read more

Hubby and I stopped here after Sole of the City race for avocado toast. Of course we added smoked salmon. I ordered an oat latte and my husband ordered a cold brew. Service was so friendly and prompt. My husband told me before arriving that he was going to starbucks for cold brew, but after speaking with another patron in line he decided to order cold brew here. We picked up our order and headed to the car. He took one sip and said, oh man this cold brew is aight. He is super picky about his cold brew so it mustve been poppin. His cold brew palette is smooth, strong and flavorful. Avocado toast was delish with fresh tomato, creamy avocado, tasty smoked salmon, crunchy cucumber, little aoili and something with a splash of kick. My husband has a request to come back here. So glad we stopped by. Thanks yelpers for reviewing because it pointed us straight here! read more

The breakfast was everything you hope it could be. Simple, fresh, and delicious. We tried just about every menu item and it was all fantastic. As fan of bakeries and pastries, I can tell you that the pastries were some of the best I have had. The bagels were a textural dream with just the right amount of cream cheese. The Lox bagel was perfection. This is the kind of place you wish was in your own neighborhood so you could become a regular. read more
