If it has Nancy's name on it, it has to be good and trust me it was. It's busy so plan accordingly but if you do have to wait grab a dirty martini at the bar (blue cheese olives of course) and have a great convo with a stranger! Their apps really spoke to us so we got the warm dates with prosciutto, the octopus which was cooked to pure perfection, and stuffed squash blossoms. I'd recommend them all over and over again. For my entree I got the carbonara rigatoni which was a smaller portion but it's homemade pasta so I get it. The cracked pepper, fatty bacon, and cream all balanced each other really well. We finished with three desserts but the gelato pie took the prize for the best. read more

Ventured down in to Georgetown and tried brunch at Osteria Mozza. Located in the old Dean & Deluca building, the interior of the restaurant is very well done. A large round bar greets you after you pass through the small Italian market. The food was outstanding. The Chop salad was like an Italian cold cut sub without the bread. I really enjoyed the salad and the dressing. The pasta dishes were the perfect size for lunch, small yet bursting with flavor. Later in the day the Mozzarella Bar opens near the front of the restaurant. Our waiter advised us to make a reservation to sit at the Mozzarella Bar sometime. We certainly will and dine again at Osteria Mozza! read more

Osteria Mozza has terrific food, but what impressed me were the logistics: - they offer valet parking, a very nice touch in the area, since parking can be very difficult. - on a very hot 4th of July weekend, they have a covered patio which faces outside, but it's well air conditioned to offer the perfect indoor/outdoor experience - the water closets (AKA bathrooms) are all unisex, and in the basement level of the restaurant. They are clean, modern, spacious, and laid out in almost a maze-like layout, so there's no awkwardness. As far as the restaurant itself, the food was delicious. Our party of four shared multiple apps, pastas and entrees, and the wine list is extensive. My favorite was the grilled beef tagliata, a perfectly prepared and flavorful dish, along with sweet potatoes topped with creme fraiche. Service from Daniel was absolutely superior, he is a true professional! Our bill was a bit higher due to the amount of wine, but still we averaged just about $80 per person, a reasonable value especially in the DC area. Overall, a wonderful choice. read more

Really cool and funky vibe in this older building which feels like a former church. There was an unfortunate circumstance where storms caused a power outage and AC issue and the manager immediately came over to every table in the restaurant and apologized while also giving the entire restaurant complementary gelati. The food was all good and I would recommend sampling and sharing several pasta dishes. read more

This is one of the prettiest restaurants! First time here for dinner and it was just as good as their brunch! We sat in the main part of the restaurant, which is beautifully decorated. Quiet enough to hear conversation even when all the tables are full. Attentive service from keeping our waters filled to refill on drinks to clearing dishes. We shared the Focaccia Di Recco, brussel sprout salad, burrata and leeks, and sweet potatoes. Focaccia Di Recco - we were underwhelmed and expected something "better" or more special especially as it was advertised as one of the best starters. I don't think anyone from our group would order it again. We expected it to be more like traditional focaccia and this was more like a thin flaky pizza crust with cheese. Brussel Sprout Salad - we quite enjoyed it - tangy dressing, fresh! Would get again! Burrata and Leeks - good flavor but felt on the smaller size. We would probably try one of the other burrata or mozzarella options on a future visit to try something new, but enjoyed this! Sweet Potatoes - absolutely delicious! We almost ordered a second order. 100% will order these again! We all really enjoyed our mains (except one)- most of our group had pasta. The Tagliatelle with bolognese and Parmesan was rich, filling, and cheesy. Goat cheese ravioli also a fantastic choice. Unfortunately, the rigatoni was undercooked - not just al dente - but not fully cooked. The carbonara sauce had good flavor though. I personally would have mentioned it to our server, but my friend didn't want to complain. The Beef Tagliata was a good serving and cooked to what was desired. Chicken Alla Diavola Su Crostone is a very generous serving. It's like a Spatchcocked chicken with a breast, wing, leg, and thigh all served on a thick 1.5" piece of crusty bread and braised onions with chicken au jus and grilled lemon. Three of us had some of this dish and there were still leftovers to go home. Well cooked and great flavor. I could see one of the vegetable sides complimenting this well - especially a green vegetable. We split a tiramisu for dessert - so good! The hazelnuts added a balance of salt and texture to a very well done tiramisu. We would definitely order this again! read more

We just stopped in for a quick dessert. Luckily got seated in less than 5minutes (on a Saturday night) maybe because we told them it was for dessert only. The tiramisu was not traditional because the base seems to be a more rustic cake, but it was excellent!!! Great flavor, and the added hazelnuts for garnish add a great crunch and extra flavor! The coffee came at room temperature. Ask for hot! It has a great vibe - classy, high ceilings. They also have a marketplace element if you want to buy pasta, sauces, wine, etc. on your way out. read more

Such a cute Italian shop. It has a nice wooden rustic feel. I went with a couple of friends and had such a nice experience at the bar! Parking is a little hard, so I'd suggest public transit here or parking in the neighborhoods. These dishes here were so pretty and the pasta cooked to perfection. The highlights of mine were the tiramisu and the tagliatelle. Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts and one of the best ones I've had, aside from in Italy. The tagliatelle was also cooked perfectly and had such a good simple flavor. We were able to try so many appetizers. The standouts for me were the marinated baby peppers, the cheese pair perfectly. I thought that the buratta and peas would be a weird combination, but it worked so well and the peas added a nice crump/snap to the dish. Absolutely lovely! Will definitely be back again soon! read more

Such a gorgeous restaurant. The staff is warm, attentive, and the place is spotless. I ordered a Caesar salad , it came on a crostini bread and grilled yellow fin. It was so delicious. The salad shad delicious light Smokey notes from the anchovy and leek that brought the other flavors in nicely. The grilled yellow fin was delicately seasoned. The texture was a perfectly light, tender and fatty. I would definitely recommend this place for brunch! read more

The three of us stopped by Osteria Mozza with the intention of small bites, but we ended up getting so much food. Since we came on a whim, we were able to grab seats at the bar (first come, first serve). The service was nice and friendly. Before the food arrived, we enjoyed a glass of champagne (not sure which one since I wasn't the one ordering) which was a refreshing start. MARINATED BABY PEPPERS Each order came with 5 baby pepper halves topped with a generous amount of tuna salad. I didn't think I would like the peppers, but these were delicious and the crunchy sweetness went well with the creamy, savory tuna. ARANCINI Each order came with 3 arancini that sat on top of some bolognese and topped generously with shredded parm(?). The rice inside was creamy and soft, but you can still pick out individual grains. The fried exterior was done nicely, and it went well with the sauce. GRISSINI I've never had this appetizer before, but essentially, it's prosciutto wrapped around a long pretzel stick that reminded us of a dog treat. Each order came with 3 of them. I personally didn't love this, since the prosciutto came off easily which meant my next bite was essentially just the pretzel. BURRATA & PEAS Each order came with a slab of burrata topped generously with peas, mint, and shredded parmesan while wrapped around some speck (an Italian cured ham similar to prosciutto). The burrata was creamy and was balanced well with the peas and the cool, refreshing aftertaste from the mint. We also got some toast on the side which went well with the burrata appetizer. TAGLIATELLE I love the chewy texture of the tagliatelle and it soaked up the bolognese well. The pasta was hearty and flavorful, and we thought this was done quite nicely. TIRAMISU Osteria Mozza is known for their tiramisu and I can understand why. It is topped generously with hazelnuts, and there was a perfect ratio of lady fingers and mascarpone. The texture of the lady fingers were on point, and the coffee flavor was nice. It was quite sweet, but still enjoyable. GELATO Not sure which one this was off the dessert menu, but it came with a peanut butter-forward gelato with a thin waffle (black sesame and fennel?) that was perched on top. I wasn't a huge fan of the waffle because of the strong fennel aftertaste, but the gelato was creamy and delicious, albeit a bit too sweet. My friends really enjoyed this one too. Osteria Mozza is pretty solid for food and drinks. I'd recommend getting a reservation in advance if possible, but the bar seating is not a bad option, though it does get a bit crowded when there are more people. read more

My friend and I snagged a reservation for 7:30 on a Friday. We got there a bit early so we were sat mostly at our reserved time in the outer glassed in area which I was glad about so I could actually hear my friend. We shared the focaccia which was huge and delicious. I had a pasta which was excellent but definitely a small portion - you will not have any leftovers. With a beer, cocktail, two pastas and the bread it was about $120 before tip so defiantly a nicer, more special place. read more

Ambience is amazing, an absolutely beautiful restaurant (great for date night!). Looks like a fun place to also grab drinks at the bar without a reservation. We did wait a bit for our reservation (although we were also a few minutes late). One negative is that you have to place all your food selections together ("per the chef") so couldn't order apps and then continue perusing for entrees. The burricotta was an interesting starter, small size wise (enough for us to each have one piece) with a variety of flavors. The drinks were refreshing & strong, although lots of ice. Pasta was smaller than expected & one I have not tried before (honestly though it was thinly sliced veggies at first!) but I enjoyed the flavors as well. The chicken itself was cooked well but nothing special, enjoyed the toast and onions more (flavor of French onion soup). Tiramisu was divine and would definitely get again! read more

Super spacious, aesthetically pleasing restaurant with fresh, tasty dishes. My tagliatelle bolognese was delicious with hand-made, perfectly al dente pasta. The portion was definitely mid-day and not dinner, but the hearty dish filled me up. My friend's chicken sandwich was a nice size with a perfectly juicy chicken cutlet. The accompanying salad was crisp and tasty, but suuuper savory and (just personal preference), a more acidic sweet-savory vinaigrette would've made for a perfectly balanced sandwich. The staff wasn't the most welcoming; our hostess and wait staff were quite blah and borderline unfriendly. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our food and potent espresso martini. It's a nice spot. read more

We had a dinner reservation and were greeted right away. We were walked to our table and the waiter welcomed us right away. The atmosphere was nice, pleasant and welcoming. There were several people and tables filled given it was a Monday but thankfully our food came out right away. Unfortunately, the pasta I ordered was not what I had expected and my husbands meat was delicious but he said the portion was small. The waiter came to check on us and since he realized I did not like my food , the manager offered free dessert. Very attentive of them and thoughtful. I ordered an ice cream and it was very good. This place is what you expect - extremely beautiful inside, and fit for a nicer dinner. The service was alright - sometimes hard to track down the server but the food came promptly. Now for the food: - Focaccia (3/5) it's quite a larger portion but it's not really focaccia more like a large flatbread the size of a pizza - Mozzarella in Panna (4/5) I quite liked the toast it came with, needed more mozzarella and less pumpkin - Burrata & Braised Leeks (3/5) wish the leeks weren't cold, just something missing here - Little Gem Lettuce (5/5) lovely refreshing salad, pepitas definitely add to the texture without being too much - Linguine & clams (5/5) I loved this, it was light but also creamy in a way and perfect amount of clams, lots of garlic - orecchiette (my husband said this was alright) - tiramisu (my friend said this was excellent) read more

The first thing that stood out about this restaurant was the building itself. Expansive yet laid out in a way to still feel intimate, its decor was curated incredibly well, highlighting the architectural features of the underlying structure itself. Due to the size, while it is at times difficult to get a reservation, there are seating options available for groups of all sizes large or small. Classic Italian with some slight twists, the food was all packed with incredible flavors, fresh, and served in proper timing. Some favorites at our table included the burrata and artichokes, mafaldine, chicken alla diavola, and the tiramisu. One note on the service which was exceptional was how the server noted there were 3 people at our table, informed us that the burrata and artichokes typically comes with two pieces, and immediately offered to make it 3 instead. A small detail but something that was greatly appreciated by all of us along with his friendly, knowledgable, and otherwise also incredible service. It is a bit more up-scale, so expect to pay a good bit, but in my opinion it was very much worth it for dinner. Would highly recommend, and will likely return in the future. (quick note cause I personally love them, but they do also have little matchboxes for you on the way out) read more

We went to Osteria Mozza for my husband's birthday in December and had a lovely time. The space is beautiful and we were seated in the heated enclosed "outdoor" section. The brick and all the plants were very nice. Service was great and essentially everyone wished my husband a happy birthday which was really nice. Food wise everything was really tasty! We started with drinks and they were great. We went a little crazy on apps and got the arancini and salted dates plus the much talked about "foccacia". All were so good. I agree it's not really a foccacia more of a flatbread but it doesn't matter. It's salty and cheesy and great! Pastas were good-malfadine the best of the three. Desserts were great-plus they also brought a gelato for his birthday so it was a lot! Definitely recommend for a special occasion and we will be back! read more

This is one of my favorites! I have been here about five times and I have loved the food every time. Definitely have a pasta. They are creative and delicious. The chicken Milanese panini was perfectly cooked. If you come at brunch, definitely get one or more of the pastries. And if you come for dinner, definitely get the focaccia. It's not like any you've had before. The dishes are classics with an interesting twist and the flavors are complex in a good way. The staff is usually very attentive. What a nice addition to Georgetown. After dining so many times at Filomena and Il Canale, I was hoping for some better Italian food, but never thought it would come. Osteria Mozza really delivers here! The reservations are hard to get and the prices aren't low, but everything is great! The space is stunning and feels comfortable, chic, and exciting. It's typically very busy so people watching is fun, and who doesn't love watching the Georgetown crowd enjoy some of the newest food in town?!? The drinks I had were great. Cocktail menu is hitting hard and the aperitifs are really solid. Wine list isn't bad either with almost only Italian wines (save a champagne or two). Our server was so kind and real, and actually shared his opinions while still being professional, but the real star of the show was the food. The Mozarella with Asparagus was good, but not a must have. Also the Foccacia was good, but again, in my opinion isn't a must have either, though if you have it, the prosciutto is such a clutch addition. What really struck a chord with me were the stuffed pastas. The Egg raviolo was just to die for. The goat cheese ravioli with ramp butter was equally as good but with an entirely different flavor profile. I could have those two dishes every night. The Malfadine would be something I would usually call very good, but it paled in comparison to the stuffed pastas. The Nancy's Caesar was something I didn't trust at first. Deconstructed caesar is silly to me often, but omg, this was a real winner! Again a dish I could eat every day with so much flavor and creativity. I love inventive dishes! The Beets also were inventive and tasty, and had a great labne type sauce they were sitting in. Loved them! The menu has so much more that I need to try, my wife went back the next day for lunch and got the cauliflower and some more pastas. She loved it - I wish I could have gone with her. Also the desserts were fantastic. Olive Oil cake comes out warm! This place is really trying and succeeding! read more

Not impressed. And I feel like this is what this kind of restaurant should do. Premise: I had 2 appetizers and a non alcoholic beverage. Nothing else on the menu. Still, it gave me an idea of the whole thing. Let's start by the ambience: fancy aiming place, with a general uptight vibe. I'm not talking about the staff, which had a very polite and professional attitude. If I can make a suggestion, though, some more warmth and relaxation wouldn't be bad Portions are 100% too small for the price and for the quality. The burrata and asparagus that you'll see on the pics was $22, the prosciutto with grissini $14 or $15. I appreciated the mix of almonds, burrata and asparagus, however, no matter how much I appreciate delicate flavors, this was really too blunt (I have to add that a few days later I realized having temporarily lost my sense for salty and sweet, due to some medical treatment - not sure if the change had already started on that day or not). Despite this, I ordered some bread on the side to soak up the sauce that was left, because that was really good. :) Prosciutto and grissini...it says on the menu that it has some truffle butter on it...doesn't taste at all like it. Not a tiny bit...so that was disappointing. I'll close with the "cocktail"...I'm of the opinion that if you tell me that I'm gonna have a non-alcoholic version of Negroni and I pay for it as much as a cocktail...it better taste good and has some tiny commonality with a Negroni, if not, then I prefer to see a different name on it. This tasted like a very normal "gingerino" which I wouldn't sell for more than $6. I know, I know...I'm sorry this is a pretty annoying review. The truth is, I really don't mind paying medium high prices when it's worth it. But it better be worth it, either because it's soo delicious or because it's big quantity...now, I would never aim for quantity in a place like this, but quality is really not good enough, in my opinion. Overall I feel like this place doesn't stand out for any specific reasons, despite the nice idea of selling products at the entrance. Even that is still not impressive...it feels like there's no specific component that stands out. Perhaps pick one element and believe in/focus on it more? read more

Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness - 3.5/5 We went here for my wife's birthday and it definitely was fun. A really unique menu alongside a pretty awesomely decorated interior makes the occasion seem special. The food was very good, though the service left a little to be desired, as did the wait. First, the good. The star of the show was the pasta. We ordered two to share. The tagliatelle bolognese was excellent. The tomato sauce coated each large noodle without overwhelming the al dente taste of the pasta itself, or making it too wet and droopy. I love a thick noodle and this delivered. But I was primarily blown away with the smoked pasta. This is a smoked noodle in a fish-based sauce and I've never had anything even remotely like it (even in Italy). Wonderfully salty with the smoke adding a tanginess to it, it was all I could do not to devour every bite in seconds flat. I HIGHLY recommend this as a great alternative to pasta you can find elsewhere. We also started off with basically a mozzarella taster plate the (Mozzarella Di Bufala & Condimenti) as the restaurant is named after it and I'm a huge fan of Buffalo mozzarella. This was easily the most disappointing part of the meal. There wasn't that much cheese (especially considering it is over $30!) and the good thing of buffalo mozzarella is the stringy/solid outside paired with the softer/liquidy inside... but they only served the outside part so it was more akin to traditional mozzarella. Of the three condiments served along with it, we thought only 1 stood out. However, the bread was beautifully baked and had an excellent aroma. We also ordered a side serving of sourdough that was also top notch. The last appetizer was the squash blossom fritters that I thought needed a bit more grease/moisture to them to get the full fried effect (although my wife quite enjoyed them). Otherwise, we also got the lamb sausage, which was delicious and well spiced. The gelato was another 5 STAR dish - extremely creamy with chocolate chunks that were melt-in-your-mouth excellent. We got two mixed drinks and I honestly didn't like either of them. They were respectively too watery (no discernible hint of alcohol) or too sweet for me. Perhaps I'll stick with wine next time? The only real downside was the slow and somewhat confused service. We'd have various servers coming up asking if we'd been helped, even after we placed our order with other servers. They were also incredibly slow. We had a show to get to 2.5 hours after our reservation. Not only were we seated about 10 minutes after we arrived (despite having an early 5:00 reservation), but the meal took over 2 hours to serve. It was worth the wait, but we had told the waiter to try and expedite. It was a little strange to wait that long for only 2 people. I had a real fun time at this place and would return. read more

Ive visited this restaurant twice once for dinner and also for brunch. For dinner we got one of their pizzas and I got bolognese and we shared a branzino. The pizza was very good it had good crunch and flavor. Toppings were fresh tasting and rich but balanced. The salty prescitto slices added a nice savory flavor. The Bolognese was nice and savory sauce was light but had good flavor and coated the pasta well. The pasta was nice and tender. We also shared a brussell sprout salad it was vertical well dressed with a vinaigrette and the nuts added a nice crunchy texture. The Branzino was the best super flaky and tender. Has a great flavor to it along with the lemon it balances well with saltyness of the fish with acidity of the lemon. For brunch I got the brussell sprout salad and a chicken molones it was a great sandwich the fresh ingredients along with the sauce added great flavor to the dish. Overall this place is great good food and good service definitely a more casual environment during the day and more of date spot at night read more
