Underwhelming, had not been here in awhile and was let down by bland offerings. Wine menu was nice, service was good. The presentation and the entrees lacked in flavor and depth :( not what I remember.

A group of 5 of us met up her for a friend's bachelorette dinner. The restaurant had immaculate vibes, with big tables and high ceilings, so while you could always hear the general din of the surrounding area, it also felt very private and cozy. The food and drinks were amazing- everyone enjoyed their cocktails (I had the Pera Dadi, which I highly recommend for any bourbon fans). We had a round of the puffed fry bread, and each ordered a plate of hand-made pasta. Everything tasted delicious and set us up for success for the night of going out in Capitol Hill. Our server was very attentive and kind, even bringing me a slice of candied pear on the side that she had forgotten to put into my drink, without me even asking or noticing. I highly recommend this as a great mid-range first stop for a night out on Capitol Hill.

We visited here for Seattle Restaurant week. We ordered the 3 course $35 menu. The place is rustic and dimly lit, and the food was pretty good! I enjoyed the truffle pasta--it was simple, but had the forward-tasting truffle essence that I was hoping for. The only thing missing was some freshly cracked black pepper, I wish they had come around with a pepper mill! The pasta itself was al dente and tasted fresh, but a bit clumpy/stuck together. The salad was well-balanced, and I liked the crunch of the pistachios and the contrast with the juicy flavorful dressing and the tart raisins and mandarins. The lasagna was hearty and had a nice light tomato flavor. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake, which was light and nutty, and the perfect portion for one. The service was pretty slow though, and we had to wait at least 15 minutes to order. However, our server was attentive with refilling our wine and water carafe. Overall, this restaurant wasn't bad, but there are higher quality Italian places elsewhere. I would probably only come back for the truffle pasta.

Delicious dining in a beautiful setting right on Capitol Hill! I've heard good things about Osteria la Spiga in the past and got the chance to officially check it out over a dinner with friends. Vibe is casual but still on date night level if you wanted it to be. It's open and bright and airy, and the service is great. They also have outdoor seating that looks great for warmer days. I started with their soup of the day which was a potato and leek soup, but I was caught off guard with the curry flavor. That said, my husband and I both LOVED it and thought it was such a unique soup! I've had potato and leek soup in the past and this was the most flavorful one I've had. Definitely recommend when it comes around. For our entrees, I went with the Tagliatelle al Ragu, and what my husband got is completely slipping my mind... But he liked it! My Tagliatelle was stellar. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was delicious. It was a delicate balance of sweet and savory and was exactly what I had been craving. I was having a hard time deciding which to pick, so I'm really glad I went with this dish! Their Aperol Spritz was nice and refreshing, and mirrored the taste of others I've had in the past. I never am a dessert person but decided to indulge in the panna cotta and 10/10 do recommend for a delicious dessert that isn't overwhelming. For both of us with the starter soup, a few drinks, entrees, and our dessert, it was a little under $150 after tip. I guess a little more on the pricy end for just a regular night out, but the quality matched the price imo. Definitely recommend for a splurge of a date night or a special occasion dinner!

Really great date night spot nestled in the middle of Capitol Hill. It is on the pricier side and smaller portions. Service was warm but a little on the slow side. Now onto the food - our favorite dish was the seasonal antipasti cured meats, burrata, and grilled peach board - delicious and abundant. 5 stars. I ordered the Tagliatelle al Burro di Tartufo. Flavor was subtle and creamy. It was a nice dish in between seasons. Small portion. 4.5 stars. My partner had the lasagna. Stated it was a bit on the mushier side than solid layers and a crisped top but flavor was good. 4 stars. It was a nice date night spot but won't be rushing back.

All the food here was really good! If you go for happy hour, it's also very reasonably priced. I honestly probably wouldn't recommend going outside of HH because otherwise it's pretty costly relative to portion size but the HH deals are excellent for both food and drinks. We managed to order drinks, apps, and mains all from the HH and saved a ton but were very full and happy. I would recommend a res to be safe during peak times. We had great service and a lovely little spot by the window. It was very intimate and romantic feeling so I would recommend this spot especially for date night.

Our first time at Osteria la Spiga and it will not be our last. The service, vibes, and food were all perfect! We came here with friends and were immediately impressed with their space. The dining room had was rustic yet elegant. We were seated in the back area which was had lower ambient noise and more intimate. Dinner started with a Rhonda Negroni which was a mix of gin, vermouth, and Campari. Perfectly made and a good pre-dinner drink. We also brought a couple of bottles of wine to open for dinner. The corkage fee was $30 per bottle. For appetizers, we shared the Polenta con Ragu di Coniglio. This crispy fried polenta was served with braised rabbit ragu was delicious and a must order. We also shared a Piadina Romagnola, a traditional flatbread from Romagna and Caprese salad. The flatbread was similar to a pita bread and was served with high quality olive oil. The caprese salad was refreshing and always a favorite. For main dish, I ordered the Pollo alla Diavola. The dish consisted of grilled boneless chicken thigh skewers, house-made sausage with a vegetable mélange. The chicken was tender and the house sausage was well-seasoned. The dish was garnished with crispy chicken skin for added texture. I absolutely recommend this dish! Dessert was a decadent Panna Cotta al Caramello. The mixture of sweet cream with bitter caramel was phenomenal. The added texture of the crispy meringues made this dessert one of my favorites. Service was top notch. Our server consistently anticipated our needs and took great

Really liked the vibe of the place, especially for a bigger group. We sat upstairs and the atmosphere was nice with lots of other groups and chatting, without it being too noisy. Our server was nice and helpful. He checked up on us throughout the night while giving us space. He also helped us choose a wine and got us chasers with our shots at the end of the night. For food we ordered the formaggi Misti to share, which was slightly disappointing in quantity. For entrees we tried the lasagna, truffle mushroom tortelli, chicken salad and white truffle pasta. My lasagna was pretty good and hit the spot, though my favorite was the mushroom tortelli which had a truffle flavor and the right balance of mushroom and ricotta in the filling. For drinks we shared a bottle of wine. My friend was also excited to see they had a Serbian liqueur on the menu and he enjoyed the punch cocktail made from it too! Overall, the food was good but more so the atmosphere would be why I recommend going. They also have a patio that opens which would be nice in the summer

For the food, 5 stars for sure. Our server seemed new and gave us an incorrect first and third course and then gave me the bill without a way to tip and sign. Everyone was pleasant to interact with. We have ordered meals before but this was our first dine in experience during SRW. The apps; cannellini soup was good though a bit salty, the grilled veggie plate was flavorful perfection, and the porcetta crostini was unique and delicious. We also added polenta (meh) and sausage (would do again every time). The mains; eggplant parm was hella cheesy and flavorful, fish dumpling dish was tasty and most tender pasta, and the gnocchi was a solid classic choice. The sweet side; the panna cotta was the best I've ever had--more smooth and creamy than anyone. The hazelnut cake is not chocolate or flavorful enough for this girl, esp next to the raspberry sorbet and creamy p cotta. The sorbet bonus/error (which doesn't need the vodka sauce addition) was such a surprise to my non fruit preferring honey, he's the one that finished it off. We were first to arrive and there was no street parking, so maybe getting to go will continue to be our preference but it was nice to have everything hot. The place is huge, I was curious about the upstairs perspective as well.

La Spiga Osteria is a great Italian restaurant in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Great service and a great menu. Lots of pasta options that are tasty and creative. A good place to go for an evening out with friends.

    Lorinda G.

I discovered Osteria la Spiga after watching the owner on an episode of Chopped for the Italy cooking challenge they had and the owner won the episode for her region and came in second place in the final episode. I was super excited to come here and right as we walked in, I loved the open style of the restaurant and the high ceilngs/windows. We were seating right by the window in the perfect spot and enjoyed that the two-top tables had plenty of room on the table themselves and inbetween other tables. The service was great! Our server was very attentive and nice. Now on to the food... Appetizers: Calamari - perfectly breaded and great flavor. gnocco fritto (v) - fried bread puffs - I wish these had a sauce to dip in or stuffed with cheese. They just tasted like beignet dough, which wasn't a bad thing just needed some more flavor. Tigelle alla Parmigiana - This was very tasty! It was on their happy hour menu and I loved the grilled eggplant Dinner - Pasta is a must! But if I were to come again, I'd order a pasta and something from the secondi menu. Gnocchetti all'Ossolana - Mushroom Gnocchi, can't go wrong. This was very savory and the flavors were very cohesive. I loved how soft the mushrooms were in this dish. Lasagne Verdi - YUM YUM YUM - this just melted in your mouth. Such good flavors, I would order this again. Lastly, this deserves it's own highlight because it was SO tasty - I ordered two of them! The Passionfruit Lime Soda (spiritless drink) was my favorite thing I ordered. I wanted to take it home! It was super refreshing and not overly sweet. Overall, there is a wide variety on this menu and everything we tried was very tasty. Highly recommend for a little date night spot!

    Torta di Nocciola
    Michelle P.

I visited Osteria La Spiga during Seattle Restaurant Week and was thoroughly impressed by the pasta dishes! Gnocchi al Pomodoro The gnocchi was absolutely delicious--pillowy, flavorful, and served in just the right portion. A true standout dish. Lasagne Verdi I also tried my friend's Lasagne Verdi, and honestly, I loved it even more than my dish. It was so rich, flavorful, and perfectly layered. Highly recommend giving this one a try! Torta di Nocciola For dessert, I tried the Torta di Nocciola, a flourless chocolate and hazelnut cake. While it wasn't quite my favorite due to its strong hazelnut flavor and crunchy texture, I'd recommend it to anyone who loves nutty, textured desserts. Overall, a good dining experience, and I'd definitely come back for the pasta!

Cavatelli al guanciale; pasta with pork, garlic, and kale. A great compliment to the butter and sage pasta, the pork being so soft and flavorful. 2.) the Cavolfiore con bagna caoda; a roasted cauliflower with an anchovy sauce and lemon. Did not think that a vegetable could be the star of the show, but with that sauce, it was our favorite. Loaded with flavor, every bite was perfect 3.) Tajarin con burro e salvia; butter and sage pasta. The fine cut literally melted in your mouth, best to eat first while it's warm. This is a dish that stays year round on their menu and was highly recommended by our friends. We ordered the pastas in the half order which was perfect for 2. Your order comes with complimentary bread which you can ask for olive oil on the side for. Will definitely be back!

We had our final dinner in Seattle at Spinasse and twas a wonderful time…read more First off, Spinasse gives Capitol Hill from the moment you enter. It's minimally furnished with just the right amount of ambient lighting. Secondly, it's Italian, but Piedmontese Italian if that means anything to you. We started with crespelle ($29) which is an Italian crepe. The version we ordered was stuffed with prosciutto and parmigiana fonduta with arugula salad. The crepe was light and airy and paired perfectly with the salty prosciutto and parm. Perfect starter. Honestly, all the pastas we ordered were absolute fire. Of the three, I liked the Tajarin Al ragù ($20/$34) the most. It's a fine hand-cut egg yolk pasta with pork and beef ragù. The pasta is so finely cut; it's delicate. What I liked best was the way the ragù sauce enveloped itself into the folds of the pasta. Each bite was cohesive and really intentional. The risotto was also quite good as well - that night, it was the risotto ai gamberi ($21/$35) which highlight spot prawns. The spot prawns were sweet and the Calabrian chili was a really nice complement to the sweet and creamy. Delish. I'm sure the risotto is great in any season. I must say - the best thing about the menu is the fact that you can order a smaller portion of any of the pasta dishes as to not have to fully commit to one. This is a superb way to eat. Live actually. Include Spinasse on any itinerary if you can.

We were lured over to Due' Cucina after having a fantastic experience with their fresh porchetta…read moresandwiches at the Camp Yelp event earlier this month. Fatty and tender meat, dripping with juices, on top of the perfect focaccia with an ideal crunchy fried crust and airy interior, not to mention the excellent marinated eggplant, tender and filled with tangy vinegar essence. I couldn't wait to give their actual restaurants a try, and that's where we found ourselves over the rainy weekend. This particular location is open and clean with extremely friendly staff. Ordering is really easy on the 3 kiosks in the front, although the pasta chef/cashier is also happy to take orders, offer suggestions, and help with any questions. The menu displays the level of al dente to expect with each type of pasta but can be adjusted in the order notes. They also have a very convenient monitor up near the kitchen that displays order status, whether in the preparation phase or complete. I especially love how this restaurant has bar seating in front of the fresh pasta making station. We were able to watch as the chef mixed up a batch of fresh spaghetti, measuring out the semolina flour and water (at least, that's all I saw her add to the combo mixer-extruder), preparing the die, and then extruding the pasta. And yes, as with any high quality pasta, they use bronze dies for extrusion here! The pasta is dried on racks for a bit to really give that al dente bite when cooked. Suppli Al Telefono ($3.70) - An order comes with a single piece nestled in a mini fry basket. This is somewhat similar to the more commonly seen (in the US at least) arancini. It's a smaller log-shaped fried croquette, with tender rice cooked in a fragrant tomato based sauce, stuffed with tons of gooey, stretchy cheese, and then deep fried to golden perfection. The breading is fantastically crunchy, contrasting against the much softer interior. It's a great pairing of texture and flavor. (5/5) Short Ribs Ragu w/ Fusilloni ($14.90) - The chef recommended the fusilloni with the ragu. The fusilloni, essentially a larger fusilli that has longer "fins", has plenty of spirals and crevices to catch onto the sauce. The extrusion is a little inconsistent, with some pieces being longer than others and others being more spirally, a sign of manual hand cutting rather than being machine sliced. Per the menu, the fusilloni is cooked until a "2" al dente level. This is actually more al dente than most Italian restaurants, meaning the pasta has a very firm bite, yet remains slightly chewy. It's definitely cooked through and pleasant to eat, although trending towards the too al dente side. The pasta is only lightly sauced, but what sauce there is clings perfectly onto the micro rough surface of the pasta. Each bite is consistent in taste with all the rich umami and tangy notes from the red wine tomato sauce. The parmigiano reggiano adds an additional burst of savory saltiness and the short rib, rendered perfectly tender, is given in enough quantity to satisfy. Due Cucina really does serve some great pasta. (5/5) Rustic Porchetta Sandwich ($11.90) - With how great the porchetta sandwich was at Camp Yelp, this is a disappointment. The porchetta, while still flavorful with somewhat anise-like and garlicky aromas, is completely dried out and tough. It's like the pork had been pre-sliced in the morning at a central kitchen, shipped to the restaurant, then placed in a dry heat tray for service. After the meal I confirmed my suspicions with the chef - the porchetta is prepared off site and and driven over every morning. The focaccia, so airy and crisp at Camp Yelp, is also subpar in store. It's floppy, completely saturated with oil, yet feels dried out on the interior. At least the eggplant hasn't degraded in quality too much. While still having a bite (e.g. not super tender), it's grilled and marinated until tangy and savory in a vinaigrette. Interestingly they serve the sandwich on top of a bed of lettuce tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette. The oils in the sandwich drip down while eating to add even more flavor. (3/5) I know that their porchetta is high quality when fresh, but I think the way they have it set up now makes a sandwich that's still tasty, but definitely could be much better. If they choose to open a specialty sandwich shop that roasts the porchetta in house, I'd definitely be a regular. With Due' Cucina, though, I'd stick with the excellent pasta. At the end of the day, pricing is very reasonable. For less than $40 after tax/tip, we both left satisfied. What a rarity for Seattle nowadays. And as a bonus, apparently they refresh the menu often. According to the chef, starting on Monday, Due Cucina will be introducing new pasta shapes, sauces, and different sandwiches. I'll be back for more pasta in the near future! The short rib ragu and bolognese were 2x pasta to sauce, which was surprisingly dry given they were swimming in oil. Pasta is obviously homemade and tasty. Let me tell you, Lupo is high on my list of "Best 'Za In Seattle", and it will be on yours as well. The waiter told us something about how they're "fancy pizza but not stuck up" (not a direct quote), which fits right in with Seattle gastronomic philosophy. It's worth trying to get here early in the night, because it can be difficult to get a seat. And you want to have some time to sit down and enjoy this pizza. Make sure you wear your best sitting pants though, because you're in for a meal that will make you progressively adjust the belt loops as time goes on. I'm sure that there are plenty of top notch pizzas across the menu here, but the Caesar salad may have been a best-in-class item. The dressing was perfectly balanced with just enough anchovy taste, and there was exactly enough of it on every bite. Instead of having croutons in the salad, they had a heaping portion of toasted breadcrumbs that made each bite so much more interesting. Caesar himself would be proud. All of the pizzas sounded great, but I was pretty sure that they would be able to execute on a cacio e pepe flawlessly here, and I wasn't disappointed. The initial bite was everything that I could have hoped for. But I would make sure that you demolish this pizza promptly - it's not one that's great as leftovers. I think that is the case for most pizza of this style anyways. I am ridiculously excited about coming back to Lupo in the future to try more pizzas. If you are currently reading this and haven't been here yet, I strongly urge you to close this review and head there immediately!

The margherita was simple but spot-on, and the burrata added this extra hit of creaminess that took it over the top. Both pies had a generous amount of parmesan that was honestly perfect. Everything tasted fresh and beautifully prepared. We finished with dessert and espresso, which were just as impressive. The lemon cake was light, fluffy, and perfectly citrusy, and the tiramisu was creamy and indulgent with a lovely chocolate drizzle. The espresso was smooth with a great crema and paired perfectly with dessert. A special shoutout to our server Manuel, who was outstanding. He was warm, attentive, and made the experience even better. We also loved the small, cozy atmosphere -- it felt welcoming and charming, the kind of place where you want to sit, relax, and enjoy your meal. We'll definitely be back

FOOD POISONING ALERT…read more I'm 8 months pregnant and came here on Mother's Day with my husband and toddler, hoping for a nice family celebration. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. I ordered the seafood linguine special, while my husband had the veal marsala. The seafood in my pasta immediately tasted off -- especially the clams and mussels, which seemed old and likely frozen for far too long. Even my toddler, who normally LOVES seafood pasta at Italian restaurants, refused to take a second bite after trying it. I enjoyed seafood pasta from many other places but could barely finish my food that day. Later that night, I developed severe abdominal pain. At 8 months pregnant, any cramping is terrifying, and I genuinely thought I might be going into labor. After hours of pain coming and going, bloating, gas, vomiting, and diarrhea the next day, it became pretty obvious the food was the cause. Ruined Mother's Day and caused unnecessary stress during pregnancy. I will never order seafood from here again.

BEST IDEA EVER. It was legitimately one of the best dinners I have ever had. There were 9 courses total, and everything the chef brought out was incredible. The service was wonderful and personal and attentive from the chef to the bartender to the wine director. So while I already would recommend this place to any serious fan of Italian cuisine, I cannot speak highly enough of the Nonnakase experience. Absolutely worth every penny. Also the bathrooms are delightful. Great vibe, don't miss out.

And then I recalled why I didn't want to come back from the first experience. First, the location is unique, and I really appreciate that this business is trying to keep Georgetown alive with cool quirky places to eat. This def fits the bill. But, I couldn't help but notice the political statement taped to the front window, super classy. I dine out to escape my day. I don't need it thrown in my face at dinner. Next, when the menus were brought to us, it was for their 3 course restaurant week special. $50 per person, and there are two choices per course. My family all chose what we wanted and then waited for the meal. Like previous reviewers, the wine is brought out in oversized shot glasses not really, but might as well be). I get that in Italy, dinner wine (peasant fare) is served in cups, not stemware, but $18 for mediocre wine, I'd like to see a more appropriate pour. Lamb Polpettine was essentially lamb meatballs on a cold and very loose polenta with what was described as salsa diavola, but it was essentially a chunky red sauce. There was nothing about this that wowed us. In fact, it was pretty bland overall and underwhelming. But the manner in which you are greeted and served at the restaurant and the remainder of service, you would think it was going to change how you felt about food. I don't even want to go into the salad. Again, underwhelming. The mains came out and although tasty, the portions were very small compared to the price we paid. And if you opt for the truffle, it's finely grated and it covers the entire plate. Also, it's an extra $12......for less than $2 worth of black truffle. It absolutely ruined the dish. An educated server would be able to caution against it, if, of course it wasn't intended to raise the final price, essentially raising the tip. If you order risotto there, be fair warned, it is extremely loosed and not very well made imo. Bland, lacks imagination, and the rice grains were cracked and soggy on the ends and crunchy in the middle.. Last was the dessert. Again, it was tasty, but it comes in these tiny jars that equal about 2-3 spoonfuls of either panna cotta, or tiramisu. At the end of our meal, the bill was over $250. For that price, I could have eaten somewhere where I could have left a little more satisfied and felt like I was actually in an upscale restaurant, not a political statement masquerading as fine dining. Having worked food for a long time, I felt obligated to leave the customary 20% gratuity knowing full well the workers there made their "living wage" before the gratuity kicks in. It included an additional 2% to pay for employee health insurance. Isn't that an employer cost? Why put that on the check? Anyway, out the door for $300 and vowing never to come back. Buyer beware.

During HH, they offer 50% off bar menu items, which is a spectacularly good deal. My partner and I ordered the carbonara and the ragu, and both were very good but the carbonara was amazing (flavorful, creamy, not too salty or cheesy, decadent without feeling too deadly). The tiramisu is a very good dessert with a nice strong espresso flavor and not too much sweetness. Our waitress kindly checked in right before 7pm to make sure we had any additional orders in before happy hour ended, which is a mark of excellent service. The bathroom is clean and brightly lit. I'd be happy to come back!

I tried to order the fettuccine de mare, listed at $29 (no extra fees on Toast), but they told me it would be $43. That already didn't make sense. Then the server says, "We actually have 50% off happy hour until 11, come in and dine." So I came in. Ordered a drink, escargot, and a steak medium rare. The escargot came out fine. Then... nothing. 39 minutes later (at 10:45pm), the server asks if I'm waiting on anything else. Yes... my steak. She goes to check, disappears, and then comes back with something that honestly felt DISTESPECTFUL. The steak looked like scraps. Uneven, mismatched chunks, all different sizes, with burnt, crispy edges and covered in sauce like they were trying to hide it. It didn't look like a single cut of meat it looked like pieces from multiple steaks thrown together. The plating was sloppy, and the side looked like an afterthought. I didn't take a bite. I looked through it and said, "This looks like pieces from different steaks." She told me she watched them cut it... then immediately followed that by saying she saw them put it under a heat lamp to reheat. So which is it? I work in the food industry. I'm not going to be gaslit over a plate like that. She offered to refire it, but at that point it was almost 11 and they were closing. I paid for my drink and left. Honestly, I wouldn't have been upset if they had just told me the kitchen was closing when I called. But don't invite me in, forget my order, and then serve something like this and try to pass it off like it's normal. Just be honest.

We were…read morepleasantly surprised by our experience and this was notably one of the better meals we've ever shared together. When we first arrived we were given the option of either the chef's counter or a table. I thought the chef's counter was a unique experience but for the night we opted for a table near the window. The space is intimate and even though there weren't many people there when we first got there, it still gave a warm and cozy vibe (quickly filled up though). The week of my friend's birthday they were only doing Seattle Restaurant Week, which I hadn't realized at first but the menu was amazing regardless. The staff was very attentive to us, constantly checking in on us and making any adjustments as needed. They thoughtfully walked us through our choices and when the food arrived. First we started with appetizers which I thought it was nice that you get to try all them and didn't have to choose one. The salad and asparagus is what you would expect, but they were perfectly done and not overly complex. The stand out was the Seared Tombo, the flavors of this dish were balanced and the fish was clearly very fresh! For our main we both got the halibut option, which came with a side of sunchokes. We had never had sunchokes before but were immediately in love (the fish was cooked to perfection too) but I loved the introduction of not so common ingredient. I thought it was a fun play on traditional "potatoes" almost. I'm glad we were able to try both of the desserts. My favorite was the tiramisu (I always love tiramisu). The carrot cake was more on the dryer side (almost like a cornbread), which isn't my preference but I enjoyed the flavors. Overall, really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back!

What went well: - service…read more- ambiance Not so well: - food at price point In short, my friends and I enjoyed ourselves for dinner last night, but I struggled to wrap my head around the price points... $47 for halibut and "greens". The halibut size was smaller than average, and the greens consisting of two small artichoke halves and a single branch of collards. Similarly, we paid $23 for a seared tombo and were given four thin slices of meat. I feel slightly robbed paying about $80 and leaving quite hungry. The food was good, but by no means would I argue this is worth going out of your way for.
