The $13.00 chopped salad that I ordered to go from the website menu consisted of chopped iceberg lettuce w a tiny wedge of chopped tomato, 1/2 slice ( maybe less) of bacon. ( I do not eat bacon) That is all !! A pathetic excuse for a salad. I called and the manager who said the chopped salad on the menu that described cucumber, onion, chopped egg and tomato was no longer available. ( but no one told me that). He was quite rude and dismissive. No apology, no offer for me to come in and have a salad or even a seltzer water on him. Staff and owners are friendly and welcoming and prompt. Food: Nothing extraordinarily amazing to write home about but decently priced and wholesome/flavorful grub. Eggs Benedict on the brunch menu--two poached eggs with perfectly runny yolks over spinach/prosciutto/English muffin with a side of fried potatoes. Pair that with a mimosa or three and you have yourself a happy brunching millennial. At the bar, I've sampled the shrimp tacos and nachos. Could have had ten shrimp tacos... (there are only two on the plate). They were a shrimpy flavor-burst easily paired with a glass of wine or a lighter beer. Absolutely HUGE nacho board--can't go wrong there. Drinks: My go-to cocktails if I'm feeling fancy are the Strawberry Mule and the La Mure on the winter cocktail menu. Cocktails $11, beers and ciders $6-7. Went to Oscars for the first time and regret not coming here sooner. We sat on the outdoor patio that they have set up due to COVID and they made it very beautiful. Everyone we spoke to that worked there was very friendly and sweet. We both got a couple of cocktails and a beer and they were delicious. We had the mussel frites and that was very fresh and delicious. Our food came out prompt and was also very fresh and well seasoned/flavored. We went here for the first time recently for dinner. As a craft beer lover, I was very excited to try a restaurant with a exceptional beer list. And that is the only reason this place gets one star. We came in to a host completely confused and disorganized. Despite a half full restaurant it took about 5 minutes for us to actually get seated. Once seated we waited about 20 minutes before deciding to go to the bar to get our own drinks. A few minutes later someone finally showed up to take our order. We each ordered a burger and were somewhat worried when she didn't write down the order. Around 20 minutes later the burgers arrived and, as expected, two of the orders where incorrect. We attempted to tell the waiter (different than the first person who came to our table) what we wanted and he could not seem to recite our order correctly. Finally, I told him to bring a pen and paper over and I'll write it down for him, which I did. We asked for the manager to come over but he, like the rest of the staff, ignored us. Another 20 minutes later the other two burgers came back surprising correct. At this point we were on our second round of drinks which we again had to get at the bar. We were also enjoying watching people come in, stand at the front waiting for someone to come seat them and then leave when they are ignored after several minutes of waiting. Once finished, we needed to track down a staff member to get our check so we could leave. Again, the beer list is exceptional and the burger was was an 8.5 out of 10 but we will never be back. Great new local spot. If you are a fan of local craft beers then this is the place for you! Twenty beers on tap, plus an extensive wine menu and yummy cocktails. The menu is quite unique and very delicious -- a hearty burger, amazing arctic char, and a wonderful veggie paella (vegetarian, can be made vegan). There are a few vegetarian options, including the garlicky white bean dip which is delicious and the type of thing you want to keep eating. This is an excellent new addition to Dedham Square and promises to be a good local go-to spot for a quick beer after work or a nice dinner with friends. I will not be returning to Oscars. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer- those were fine. For my entree, I ordered the fried pork which was basically inedible. It was like eating rubber and had the flavor of eating bread crumbs. Also, it had no sauce, so it was as dry as eating a mouthful of breadcrumbs. My wife ordered the fettuccini with shrimp which tasted exactly like a Knorr pasta side (those packets that you buy at the grocery store for two dollars). For two dollars- i'd be happy, for $28, I was pretty upset. On top of all of that, our waitress took forever to bring us the check. I had to waive her down while she was eating at the expo line. I wanted to complain while I was there, but my family convinced me not to. Great new place that I am already thinking about going back to. Comfy bar/restaurant that fits perfect in the neighborhood, I expected it to be loud but was surprised by how our party of six all enjoyed talking and eating by the fireplace. Now the food! This is comfort food with a twist, beef stew, braised pork shank, burgers..... the six of us tried it all from fish&chips to pork shank. Amazing taps of beer leaning to the Irish side.... Price and portions are all great, not giant plates of family style crap, well thought out plates with complimentary flavors. Very reasonable prices are also a nice surprise. Horrible. My wife Ordered 2 Fish & Chips for me to pick up. I brought them home & my wife wouldn't eat her's. The chips (French fries) were well done (burnt) & unsalted. There were three miniscule tubs (the kind ketchup might come in) of coleslaw & one tarter sauce, the same size. That's it, plus the fish, which wasn't bad. Most of our group had Mediterranean pasta, which was abundant and well received. Hidden GEM of a gastropub in Dedham center. Oscar's menu leaves nothing to chance and everything to be expected. Great food, great beer selection, and great ambiance. If you're looking for a Guinness tap, don't come here. Oddly, they only serve Murphy's Stout in comparison, but the cozy bar makes up for it. The music choice is odd with no identifying culture bias but the cuisine definitely slides toward Irish. The scene is casual and seemingly frequented by local couples and young professionals. This was the most exceptional experience I've ever had at a restaurant or bar. And not "exceptional" in the "I really want to experience that again" sense...more like "exceptional" in the "what the heck just happened" sense. A group of friends and I were at Oscar's for about 3 hours on Tuesday night. Everything was going great! This was the second time I'd been to Oscar's and the first time was very normal, which made this time all the more strange. If I reviewed the experience based on everything except the last 20 minutes, I'd probably give 4 or 5 stars. The bartender (we'll call her Louise [not her real name]) was great; telling us about the beers, creating a cocktail for us with limited direction, mostly responsive to our orders...not much more I could ask for! As we were wrapping up, I noticed Louise's demeanor change. She became snappy and dismissive. I chalked it up to the late hour (around midnight, Oscar's closes at 1a) or maybe it was because we used multiple credit cards to pay. In any event, I was still pleased with the overall experience. Then, IT happened. As we were putting on our coats and starting to walk out, Louise grabbed our attention saying we under tipped her. "Oh, okay", I thought, "maybe we made a mistake when splitting the check..let's take another look". But Louise could not comprehend that this could have been unintentional. This is when Louise's sister, Thelma, intervened. Oh yeah, Thelma (not sure if it's Louise's actual sister or just a lie she told) was at the bar too. Thelma was drunk. And Thelma was really adamant that we give Louise a good tip. At this point, things are not going so well. Thelma and Louise are feeding off each other's energy. My goal was to understand what happened with the tip and rectify it. This was not Thelma and Louise's goal. I'm not sure what their goal was. If it was to yell at us, they succeeded. If it was to insult us, they succeeded. If it was to call my friend a "f*cking b*tch", they succeeded. Yes, Louise screamed that at my friend. The thing that boggles my mind is that Louise was not interested in getting a resolution. She was just interested in escalating the situation. It was the most unprofessional and classless behavior I've ever seen from someone in a customer service role. I imagine this type of thing doesn't happen very often at Oscar's. But I won't be going back to find out. Oh, and in case you were wondering, one of my other friends ended up straightening out the tip issue. This place will soon be trendy and jammed, and for good reason. We went for lunch. The food was fabulous, as was the beer. Our party tried the tuna melt, veggie burger, and cheeseburger. The food was solid pub food, very tasty, the portions large, old stand-bys that were jazzed up with gourmet toppings and piled high. I work in Dedham Square and my employers treated the office to lunch. We decided to support another local business and that's when it went down hill. After placing the to-go order of $70 and asking not once but several times for utensils we placed the order. I also specified that 1 meal (the Classic Burger) be packaged with NO BUN as there was a severe Gluten Allergy. The person taking the order confirmed all the above requests (utensils and gluten free burger). When our office picked up the order, there were NO UTENSILS and a fried onion ring on the "gluten free" hamburger! I also need to add that 2 Caesar salads with anchovies ($2 upcharge) were ordered. Yup - NO ANCHOVIES! When the restaurant was called - the employee said "we don't ever provide utensils for take out orders." "You can go to a local place and buy some." NEVER AGAIN. read more

Outdoor patio seating setup gets A+, but was disappointed to see menu items changed and not for the better. I loved the fried fish taco small plate and brussel sprouts app as a meal pre-pandemic. The tacos before were made with soft tortillas with avocado, a spicy crema sauce and cabbage slaw/lettuce and lime to squeeze on top. Now it's fried tortillas which does not work with fried fish, and no spicy crema, no avocado, no lime- was missing so much flavor and was so bland compared to the flavor burst that it was before. Looks like the brussel sprouts flavor was changed too from before, but haven't tried the new ones yet. Unfortunately, I won't be getting the fish tacos again until previous fish taco recipe return. I would advise against supporting this restaurant. The reason is not the food as I have no idea how it tasted, but rather for poor management practices, untrained staff and generally rude managers. Let me briefly explain. We stopped in for our 6:30pm reservation, but after a struggle to find a parking spot, we walked in six minutes late. Upon checking in, the hostess told us we did not have a reservation. Well, our friend pulled out his phone and showed her the RESY confirmation. She said, well..."we don't have you in our system". Manager comes over..as he is flipping through the screen we actually see our name. He acknowledges our names and said "we cancelled you, you were late" and walked away...no "I am sorry", no "we will squeeze you in, just sit tight". Again, I looked at my watch and we were six minutes late. Are you seriously kidding me? There were plenty of open tables...so who took our table I might wonder, right? The hostess, who apparently did not know how the auto-cancellation works, also looked confused. Look, I get it, their restaurant their rules. But how about posting your policy: "if you are five minutes late, the reservation you had for the past two weeks will be cancelled!" We had to scramble to find a place six miles away to make it back to our show at the Dedham Community Theater. Turned what was to be a restful enjoyable dinner and evening, into a mad dash/unrestful scramble. I will not be going back. As we all know, it starts at the top. If this is how the management is going to treat their customers, they won't be around long. Imagine how they likely respond to issues one might have with their food..."well, you ordered it"....give me a break, many great establishments out there. Third time here, Burgers are good' waited about 20 minutes and owner was very attentive updating us on status of our table can not ask for more than that. Wife had BBQ avocado tacos and she was pleased, I had fish and chips as did my sister and we were pleased. Once seated, we sat for nearly 30 minutes before anyone approached our table. Two of our three orders were wrong and the wait staff were so confused we had to write down for them how the burgers were supposed to be prepared. This is just a burger - not hard people!
