Hoping someone can explain this. I have been here before and yes they have great burgers. But I just left there as baffled as ever. Apparently you can buy a Napper burger that comes with bacon, mushrooms, mayo, and cheese. OR, a Cali burger with bacon, guacamole, chipotle aioli, and cheese. Or, a Bacon Blue burger with bacon, bacon apple jam, and crumbled blue cheese for $18.00 But if you buy just a plain cheese burger it's $17.00 and an additional $1.50 for the cheese. $18.50 wtf? **KARAOKE REVIEW** - I give this place a ZERO FOR THE KARAOKE. Charlie Brewer Sucks as D.J. He skips over people who are in the rotation as a singer, he is NOT FAIR. I waited through 6 singers, and he still didn't call me up. Had a really nice time here with my boyfriend a few days ago and felt compelled to leave a review. The burger and fries were really good - super flavorful burger and fries were crispy and came out super hot. Really nice atmosphere and cozy inside. While the food and drinks were excellent, it was really our server who made the night so fun. I think her name was Mary or Marie? Blonde girl who was super sweet, chatty, and made us feel like regulars. She was extremely attentive and made good recommendations for food and drinks. We are new to Norwood and it's hard to find a local bar where you feel welcome, but because of Mary/Marie (sorry!) the Napper Tandy's has two new loyal customers. Thank you! read more

My husband and I sat in their back patio on a Friday evening after work(ing from home), watched sports on tv, and enjoyed a couple of apps and a couple of drinks. We recently moved to this neighborhood so this was our first time visiting this restaurant. We ordered their wings and fried pickles and both were fresh, hot and delicious. Good buffalo sauce. Their beer list is not huge but as craft beer fans we thought it was pretty good. I also enjoyed their strawberry spritzer which wasn't too sweet and refreshing. The staff was friendly and although we were the only people in the back patio, she was very attentive - checked in with us just at the right time for us to order more drinks. I wish there was a fan or something outside, since it's next to the parking lot on a hot day it is a little warm without wind/air movement. But the shade structure is a nice bonus. All in all, we thought it's a great hidden gem. Although we wished there were a few more people to liven up the back patio, we certainly felt safe with the table layouts and the staff wearing masks + menus on your phone. We'll be back to try other dishes hopefully soon! read more

we should have known as the place was almost empty on a Friday night . We asked to see a menu and the waitress advised us that none of the specials were available and our selection was basically burgers and a few apps . We ordered our food and had a few beers . After 45 minutes we literally had to go to the kitchen and retrieve the waitress. She stated that our food was not ready and was unsure if or when our meal would be ready . After an hour my wife's burger arrived and 15 minutes later my half frozen chicken sandwich arrived . I told the waitress that I couldn't eat it and she proceeded to get me a to go box . she stated this was her first night serving and the kitchen staff just started a few days ago . My question is " why wasn't a manager on duty and why are the owners letting this happen . It's sad to see an established restaurant / bar coming to an end . read more

Napper Tandy's is very much so a local dive bar. There seem to be a lot of regular customers who frequent this spot. That being said, the food here is very tasty, the drinks are good, and the service is great. My last visit here I grabbed the Buffalo burger. Burger was very juicy and flavorful. read more

Appreanlty being 'with the church' gets you a free meal. Was having a nice dinner with my father talking about the Catholic Church (I was raised Catholic, he is not a priest). When the bill came, the waitress first asked my father if he was 'with the church,' to which replied "Yes! Up at St. Catherine's." She then turned to me, asked the same question and I gave a firm 'No.' She then turned to my father and said his meal would be taken off the bill. Ended up here for dinner the other night our waitress Mo was friendly and made great recommendations. We both ordered the turkey burger, which was probably the best turkey burger I've ever had. As an appetizer special they had buffalo tater tot's which were unbelievable, we almost ordered a second plate of them. Nappers must have changed up their kitchen staff recently. Napper Tandy's is pretty good. I've been here on more than one occasion. The bar is always full and the crowd often seems chipper (plus there's a nice age range in the place). Also, beers aren't too $$$$. I'm a fan of the Curry fries, although I don't understand how that's Irish Fare. Also, there's a nice little outside patio out back, if you want to catch a breeze. Only a 4 because the atmosphere was great and the beer they poured was perfect and well chilled (Harpoon IPA) The food was mediocre. I got the onion soup and an Irish BLT. The soup was only so so. I have had better. It was small for the price. The BLT would have been great, but the bacon was too fatty and chewy. That may just be the style of Irish bacon. But I hated it. Napper Tandy's is the perfect place to drink a great beer, watch a game (been here for Bruins about 10 times) and eat some surprisingly tasty pub fare. I'm a huge fan of their Irish spring rolls and pizzas, but their fish and chips are amazing. Fresh fish, huge portion which is legitimate shareable (this is coming from someone with a hearty appetite too). The beer selection revolves pretty routinely, but they always have great choices. Their whiskey inventory is also pretty extensive...it is an Irish place, after all. It's a townie place, but not one of those places where, if you're new in town, a record doesn't suddenly *SCREECH* when you walk in and people turn to stare at you. HELLS YES. One word - Karaoke on Saturdays. I know that only the most courageous of ballers travel out to Norwood for the most insane night life south of the 93-95 split. If one of said ballers has not yet frequented Napper Tandy's on a Saturday night, he hasn't seen the pinnacle of nightlife south of the Bean. I'm a Karaoke mark, so this place gets super plus bonus points for having a fun karaoke setup. Great variety of songs (have you ever heard the Humpty Dance, Sabotage and Weird Al's Amish Paradise all in one night EVER?), and the place manages to be JUST CROWDED enough for it to be a party atmosphere, but you're not getting elbowed every 5 seconds. The space is cozy and is divided into 2 separate bars that almost mirror each other. You don't like karaoke? Fine. Head over to the other side and watch the B's. Or the C's. Or the H's... What kept me from 5 stars was some of the wait staff just seemed too "green".... I know they're trying to give good service, but asking if I want a drink every 5 seconds while I have a beer in front of me can get tiring. I've been to this place several time for drinks and once for food. The meal was good and would recommend it to all. But the last time I was here it was not good... the system was down to take cards and not a person felt the need to state that before taking anyone's orders. If your system is down you need to state that to customers because now a days most people do not carry cash. And no I do not want to take out money from an ATM that you make money off of and I lose money due to fees. The bar tender or other lady helping never stated the system was down till after our second drinks, plus the bar tender just wanted to chain smoke and complain to a customer about her second job, not tend to the other customers she had. When possible customers called to see what the house are they were also not told about it only being cash as it was and seemed like it would be for a while because they could not figure it out. Not saying this place is bad just really bad customer service with shitty attitudes my last trip. Not sure I want to give this place an more of my money! read more

Originally, we'd planned on finding a place to eat outside in the waning days of summer, but their back patio wasn't really going to fit 7 people on this evening; not because it was busy, but there were just enough people there to make the merging of tables into a bigger disruption than we typically cause. So we adjourned into the nearly-empty inside, and set to work with a few pints and made fast friends with the friendly waitress who put up with our antics gamely (there was an duel of attempted wet willies at some point, which we kindly left her out of). The food was pretty darned tasty; i had some pasta with chicken in it that i thought was pretty good, and a very enjoyable pint of Harpoon (just one? yeah, i'd already done a lot of drinkin' in the past three weeks). The bar area is separated by doors, and seemed to have drawn a pretty decent crowd. Also, they seem to have something of a plate-dropping problem; two actual crashes were heard, and a few more possible ones. It became something of a running joke. Decent food, friendly service, a fine option if you should accidentally find yourself stranded in Norwood. read more

A favorite haunt of mine, Napper Tandy's once embodied the best of downtown Norwood. It still might, but I don't like it as much as I used to. The menu is ok, but I have had some pretty bad meals there. I would stick to the pub food. Recent changes to the dining room and menu design tell me that Napper's is aiming for the family crowd; and though I can't blame them, I don't really want to sit in the dining room anymore. It is segmented now and seems much much smaller than it used to. Beer selection is ok, though the tap lines are not always clean, or something (a couple gnarly beers have been served up there in my visits. Stick to the heavier flavours to counteract this effect. Smithicks and Hoegaarden taste better than Harpoon and Bass.) The outdoor seating is probably my favorite part of Napper's in the summer. Nothing all that special, but enjoyable nonetheless. And then the bar is very cozy in the winter. I tend to stay away from the trivia night (not that I don't enjoy trivia) because the trivia guy blares pop music over everything and is so loud that if you are not playing trivia, you cannot hold a conversation. The only legitimate competition to Napper's draught list used to be Dogfish Head 60 minute at Lewis's, but it seems Lewis's stopped carrying that, so now I only have eyes for Napper's. read more

I had to try this place. We went with a group and had drinks and appetizers. Very good food. Someone ordered dessert; so we all shared it also. The atmosphere is OK, and the bar was full of loud townies who had too many drinks. (This is my hometown, and I didn't know anybody there.) I didn't even check the menu because others did the appetizer orders. I will try it again. It is a typical pub with dark wood, Irish pictures, etc. An Irish co-worker says it is one of her favorite places. There is plenty of free parking in the town lot across the street. read more

I confidently rate the 5/5 on the context of what one would expect and as clearly dexecribed on the menu and by the bartenders/servers. Not less than 4/5 and I like restorants helping along the process of do I want to here, reasonably accurate and execute. Service is grea, it's down home Norwood style and timely and appropriate and comfortable staff answering what they can and telling what they need to ask about. Meals are like what I cook at hime, a good protein cooked well, veggie and only when out a starch. Nothing fancy but well seasoned or good for condiminents etc. and vegetable and everything cooked well, tastes good, and no excessive sauces and being all crazy, perfect for a week night meal alone or a night out if drinking and company trumps dining experience but still want good food and service. It won't win a Beard award, ha, but for a double bar set-up downtown on the casual side, delivers as implied they would and better. read more
