Nice little bar, came here to watch the super bowl and there was plenty of seats left. Looks like a lot of locals come here but was my first time along with 2 friends. Food was alright, nothing to memorable. Our server was going home halfway through our meal and tried multiple times to close our tab. I get she wants to get her tip but it was an unpleasant experience as a guest. We were obviously here for the game like everyone else and was not planning to leave in the second quarter. Waitress kept coming back every 5 to 10 min to try and clear our plates. After the third of fourth time I just told her to take it away so they don't keep bothering us. Unfortunately that was my lasting impression after she closed the tab and went home. We could have stuck around longer to order more drinks but vibe was already ruined and it was a terrible game. Not Bad - was hoping it was better Went here on a Saturday night and it was dead, which was good because we could sit down right away but bad because we didn't want to stick around for drinks afterwards at the bar. I wouldn't suggest ordering a salad, it was basic iceberg lettuce with some shredded cheese and lumpy balsamic dressing. The quahog appetizer was actually really good and I would order that again. I ordered the turkey tips, they were good but not amazing. My wife ordered the Alfredo cheese bread and the sauce was a gloopy tasteless mess. My jack and diet was strong so that was a nice surprise. Overall, this is one of those places that locals will tell you it's great because they have eating the same 6 out of 10 dishes for 15 years. The service was good and they are nice people but it's nothing to write home about. Seems like a typical neighborhood dive bar. Servers and bussers wearing hoodies, TVs at the bar, that sort of vibe. They had an extensive espresso martini / spiked coffee menu (16 versions). Surprisingly decent! Food was very mid. The steak quesadilla special was bland, could have used like or sour cream or spice. Burger looked ok, fries heavily undersalted. I'm not from the area so am not sure what else is around but I wouldn't plan on coming here for a nice dinner- it's just a hangout spot. read more

Came here this past weekend with our friends. Came for lunch and had both our kids under 1 with us. We were directed to the back which was private and quite for us and our babies. The staff was respectful and attentive. We didnt wait to be seated or our drinks or food. Everything was prompt and food was delicious! Will be back for date night with my husband without the baby! My husband and I go to VM a few times a month. We went tonight and wanted to sit in the bar area and was told we could only be seated in the back. My husband was not happy with that ! I ordered a French onion soup and it has cheese on top, I didn't know if I was eating melting cheese or what, the broth was tasty but full of cheese fat and I barely got any broth, left it there because I Couldn't eat it. I would have return it but the waiter came back 25 min later. Asked for a drink and they took for ever. Poor service and not great food, too salty and fatty. If you want hang out and have a drink and an appetizer or salad it's fine. Or go there for trivia night. Other than that i can not recommend any other dish. read more

The food is good and fresh, and a nice drink selection, but the service is consistently bad and today's was as bad as it's been. It started with a long wait at the "wait to be seated" sign, with nobody working there. Eventually i was seated but it took several minutes for a food menu. Then it was 16 minutes from the time I was ready to order food to the point that someone came by. This was only after I flagged down another server asking if someone could take my order. I love the food here, but if you're looking for an attentive staff then this is not the place. read more

The Village Manor is a great local restaurant. Indeed it's my favorite pub in Dedham. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The owner's Joe & Katie always seem to be on hand to greet and welcome you to their establishment. The food is extremely good and priced very reasonable. Overall it's very good value for your money. You won't go wrong ordering a meal here My favorite meal for Lunch is the Baja Chicken Salad. It's spicy cajun grilled chicken over salad greens with diced tomatoes, jalepenos, red onion, jack cheese, black beans and corn with spicy ranch dressing. For $10.95 you can't go wrong. My favorite meals for Dinner are either the Chicken Saltimbocca over pasta or the Blackened Chicken Fettuccine. The flavor and taste of these two dishes are outstanding. In addition, I have yet to finish one of those meals in one sitting. Due to the generous portions you always end up taking food home. Right now during the summer they are serving Lobster Specials. If you love Lobster you need to check out the Village Manor. The Manor is one of those places where are assured to meet your friends or neighbors enjoying a meal or drink. read more

Horrible Service ! We went for dinner with the kids and besides the long wait for the food which was totally unacceptable. My child's burger was close to raw completely red inside! When I was able to get the waitress attention she took the burger no apology and came back about 29mins later to say well we can't refund you as it is you are already bringing your half price pizza's home and it's dine in only! Excuse me?? How rude ! Mind you she had already boxed out left over pizza up and said nothing about us taking it home .. She said the best I can do is make you a new one ... so then we wait 30mins because I refuse to just give my money away .. the new burger gets dropped off to the table and she never says bye thank you good night nothing! I have had multiple great experiences here, so I figured it was time to spread the word. I've gotten; steak tips, Mac n cheese, boneless wings (big dawg sauce), burger, pizza, shepherds pie. All were great and very affordable! Beer prices are also very good compared to what you see at many restaurants in the area. So great food, great prices ahh win-win. And then on top of all that I want to add that the service was awesome. The bar room is find your own open table (there is a dinning room out back) I normally sit at the bar where yes you get a some what "local only" feel but it's not that at all! Bartenders are very welcoming and attentive to needs. When not at the bar waitresses always have an eye on you (note: I have not sat in the back area only the bar room). Overall if you're looking for a homey feel with friendly faces, good food and prices Village Manor is your place. We gave the Village Manor two tries. We really wanted it to be a hidden gem with great food. The first time the fries were cold and the burgers were unmemorable. But the bartenders were friendly and attentive and did a nice job of welcoming new patrons to a place that clearly has a strong population of regulars. The second time, the front was packed of people drinking so we headed to the dining room. It took about 5 minutes before someone came to seat us. There was just one other table occupied. This time we tried sandwiches. Again nothing special. At least the fries were hot this time! The waitress was annoyed to have to list the beers on tap. Maybe they need a beer list to hand out with the menus? And what Irish bar is out of Guinness and won't have it again until Friday? We won't be back. Local bar 5 minutes from our house. Great waitress, friendly service, no nonsense place and the food was good. If you want to come watch the game in a modern pub on the multiple TVs or play trivia on Thursdays and stuff your face with nachos and burgers then you'll be right at home. I came to the Boston area with a friend so that he can interview for a job out here. We both came here on a tight budget. While looking for a good place to eat, I came across The Village Manor on Yelp! and the first review that I saw mentioned $6 burgers. So, of course we decided to check this place out! (I didn't see the other negative reviews) We arrived at the restaurant and the parking situation was iffy, but we found a spot and walked on in. Upon entering the building we were welcomed by a waitress. I looked around the room and it looked like your typical bar, with a restaurant attachment. We went to sit down and grab some grub. The waitress who we had was really nice. We both ordered the bacon & cheddar burgers and I ordered a blueberry beer, while my buddy Josh decided to get himself a chocolate martini. Naturally, we got the drinks first. My blueberry beer actually had blueberries in it, which surprised me at first. But it tasted really good and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way (similar to a Blue Moon needing a orange slice). He said his chocolate martini was really good. We got our burgers and we were both shocked to see how much food there was on the plate. The burger was a pretty decent sized burger, especially for a $6 burger, they definitely didn't skimp on fries either. The fries were thin and really good. They were nice and crispy and had what I think was rosemary on them (though I could be wrong). That burger though. We both asked for medium well, and it was medium well. The bacon was nice and crispy, the cheddar cheese was great as well. It was a typical burger that you'd find in a bar/restaurant but it really was delicious. I am not sure what these negative reviews were talking about, but I thought this place was excellent. I am from Rochester, NY and we have some really good burger restaurants there, as well as dive bars, etc. that serve really good burgers and this place fits right in. How the hell can you beat $6 for all of this good food too? Even if it was a decent burger with decent fries and a decent drink. First time there. Wasnt expecting much looking from the outside. Now however, I'm happy to know that theres a decent local pub within walking distance of my house. Showed up to watch some football, drink some cheap beer and have a burger. Burger was delicious, beer was cold and refilled often. And the bartenders were awesome to me. Village Manor is within a stone's throw of my climbing gym, and the meetup group that I run ends up here often post-climb. This is definitely a local pub, but is also frequented not only by climbers but by SBS teams that play nearby. The menu is typical pub fare, and there are several televisions airing whatever big game is happening. There's ample seating at the bar and high tops throughout the front bar area. I've never been back to the restaurant seating area. This would be a three star place, but a few things have compelled me to bump up the star rating. Service is consistently friendly and attentive. Remembering what people drink from week to week goes a long way, as does being patient with a group of work-out clad, sweaty, possibly sketchy looking climber types. They have the most generous nacho plate I have ever seen. It takes at least four of us to finish one. Lastly, we have a vegetarian in our group, and while it's true that the menu is not vegetarian friendly on several occasions she has made off the menu requests that they have been happy to accommodate. read more

We recently had a function with 30 people at the Village Manor. At the last minute we had a change plans and had to call the restaurant for a change. The Owner , Katie, was so gracious and helpful and was able to accommodate our revised schedule. The food was excellent, the room in the back was perfect for the size of the party and the bartender, Lisa, made a mean Bloody Mary. My friends and I decided to come here after seeing them on the Phantom Gourmet. We walked in the front door, and was greeted by local bar goers that knew we weren't regular. Well, after see a dining area in the back, we went there. There were 4 servers and no host, and after a moment of confusion, one of them sat us down. We ordered the nachos, chilli, garlic bread and a quesadilla. The only thing that stood out was the garlic bread fondue. Everything else was just average bar food. Not worth a 2nd try. read more

This place is nice. It is a bar when you walk in but they have a restaurant in the back. The food is good. Recently I have good the southwest steak tips, which was steak tips with onions peppers and mushrooms topped with pepper jack cheese and came with 2 sides. The meal was delicious . The veggie carrots and beans were buttered up real good and the french fries were surprisingly great. The bar is pretty great . As Travis said it is a townie bar. But usually on Friday and Saturday night they have live music. This is usually a 1 or 2 piece band but is still entertaining. They also aren't Vegetarian friendly which is important to me (most places have options). I came here after rock climbing with a friend. So we get drinks and a dessert which was a blondie brownie with a scoop of ice cream. In the process I also ordered chicken alfredo with broccoli. So the dessert, the size is perfect for a single person. Hot brownie with cold ice cream came out and then devoured. Sometimes I've gotten cold brownies or ice cream almost half melted so it certainly worked out. The next day I finally had the chicken alfredo which by the way lasted me two days. I have been here more than just a few times and I have all good things to say. The food is always good, I think it is well above "pub" food and it's worth trying the specials. I feel the bartenders and servers are very friendly, attentive, and professional. I recently had them cater my event off site for a baby shower and everything was perfect. The steak tips were absolutely delicious as was the chicken parm, meatballs, and ziti. They supplied the extra sauce I asked for, also the chicken fingers and sauces for the kids went over huge. Everyone left saying they loved the food. I could not recommend the Village Manor any more than that ! It's just a great place with great people and great food. read more
