I can't remember the last time I went to kings however I do remember that it was a long time ago. Today some friends and I decided to take our children, we did make a reservation before we went in. Although there is something nostalgic about going to Kings, I don't think the dedham location is best for small children (7 and under) , not only was it overly crowded, the lightest bowling ball the kiddo's were able to bowl with was a 6 pound ball which was a bit heavy for them. We hosted our graduation party for 55 students and I really recommend Jessica Stewart at Kings. She is a excellent and responsive communicator in person, phone and email and present and helpful at the actual event. As parent volunteer leaders, we have to deal with a lot of different vendors and Jessica really stood out with her amazing customer service. We had a mix up with an outside vendor and we found ourselves without the Photo Booth we expected. Jessica immediately stepped in and set up a ring light and props - without me even asking. Food is great! Loooove the short rib grilled sandwich with sweet potato fries and the loaded nacho platter. Also tried the fish sandwich and fish tacos and they're really good too. Recommend signing up for Kings rewards so you get points every time you go which can be converted to crown rewards later on and/or free bowling game or $ to be used towards food or bowling in the future. Have gone here for bowling and food several times and tried different food each time, but the constant orders are potstickers and pretzel that kids love and always ask for. Looking to catch up with friends (who have children), while in the area, we needed somewhere kid friendly, that would keep them entertained, and one suggested bowling. This spot was new to me, having been built since I moved south, the entire complex was an impressive upgrade to the former Dedham movie theater that used to reside in this location. Kings is deceptively large, with probably 2 dozen lanes, several billiard tables and a small arcade. They offer a decent menu of sandwiches, pizzas and finger foods, as well as a full bar, with a waitress coming by the lane every so often to take food and drink orders. We hd a good time, it was a fun spot and plenty to do, especially on a rainy day. Pricing was a bit higher than I expected, but otherwise my only other complaint, I was disappointed to find it was standard bowling rather than candlepin bowling. If you grew up in New England, you know the uniqueness of candlepin bowling and sadly it sounds like most of those facilities have closed or converted to regular bowling, which is disappointing, especially when you see young kids struggling to lob the larger bowling bowls down the lanes read more

I went to Kings for Friday Karaoke which began promptly at 9pm. Friday night at Kings never disappoints. The Djs has any song you could think of, not like back in the day with the book. I got the Fiery Mango Margarita which taste like juice and lacked spice. The service was great and the waitress was amazing. The love the addition of the pool table and oversized games. The absolute worst bowling I have ever seen. I regularly bowl and am decent but every ball I threw rolled to the left side of the lane. Either it was tilted or there was no maintenance on the lanes. They had very few options for bowling balls, the girl working there told me that the size small through large on the ball was the weight which is ridiculous and they handed us two left shoes and two right shoes when getting our bowling shoes. After we spent hundreds on food and drinks, we asked for 15 extra minutes and the manager who was a real douche, said there was no way. Absolute rip off of a place. I will never be back. read more

Called to make a reservation. They don't take reservations. The person on the phone was abrupt and rude. Decided to come in anyway -- came in at 5 pm on Wednesday, Dec 27 and was told the wait would be 1.5-2 hours. We left at the 2 hour mark after getting drinks and eating dinner. They texted me almost 2.5 hours later... They weren't turning around the lanes very fast as people were leaving. One near us sat empty for 20-30 minutes. Cocktails were horrible. I ordered the Fiery Mango Margarita, which was watered down with no mango puree, no Serrano peppers or no Tajin rim, as advertised. Such a bad margarita. The descriptions of the cocktails sounded better than the execution. The food was all right -- not horrible, not great. Our server was nice -- so the stars are for her. read more

Very strange vibe at Kings - went for Friday night Karaoke for the first time in a few months only to find out that they have completely torched every good vibe that has ever existed there. Upon arriving - was met with the realization (and actually told outright) that things had changed. First of all, there used to be seating near the karaoke area which has all been done away with. Now, you stand by yourself and can't see or be seen by your friends because there are people playing jenga and pool in the way. You are a good 30 feet from the rest of the crowd. Second, the fun karaoke guy with the good karaoke system is gone. We walked in and the karaoke host came up to us while we were ordering drinks at the bar and asked if we were planning on doing karaoke. We said yes, and he immediately let us know that things had changed and that under no circumstances could we sing any explicit lyrics, because there had been complaints made up to the corporate level and that this was a family friendly establishment. It kind of killed the vibe. Hey Kings - how about making the BAR 21+ at night? Who has their kid out at karaoke at 10pm on a Friday? Whatever. So, we sign up for karaoke. You are told to stand still on the "x" that is on the floor. The karaoke guy kept talking over the karaoke as it was going on into his other mic. He kept getting annoyed that the same four people kept coming up - but the place was dead and no one wanted to sing because it was straight up a bad time. Anyways - had a blast before Kings decided to water it down and change it up but definitely won't be back. The food is terrible and the bowling is overpriced, so there's really no need. The only redeeming quality and why I didn't rate one star was that the bartender was very nice. read more

My partner and I went to Kings for the Valentines Night bowling and dinner special package and had a great time. Reggie, the floor manager and his staff were attentive from the second we arrived, providing shoes and helping us find our lane. I also can't say enough about the waitstaff as they seemed to read our minds when it came to service. As for the food which was part of the package, the appetizers were so huge and filling that we ended up taking the pizza home and had it for lunch the next day. The cocktails, which were also part of the package were fun but as you would expect at a family friendly establishment not very strong. Came filled only 4/5 or 5/6 full and 13.00 beer price was tougher than the flat beer to swallow. He did sub the Brussels sprouts for the waffle fries and that was good choice... sprouts needed maple or bacon flavors and too salty... but better than greasy fries. Not to be confused with Queens Drinking and Boredom, which is located in NYC and is less fun than this place, if we're being honest. This is a really Innovative and interesting place. I honestly wasn't expecting to find anything like this. I was pretty impressed. Oh yeah. So basically what you have is a massive palace of cool games and fun, which is apparently aimed at adults, but it would be really great for kids too. It's a little more expensive than you would probably want it to be, but a lot cheaper than I would expect it to be too. You can get a nice meal here and still spend no more than you do at Dave & Busters overall, which is pretty remarkable. So it would get a 4-star rating at the very least, and I will definitely come here again when I'm in the area, and I'm considering giving it 5, the next trip might even lead to that. read more

We brought my 9 year old niece to bowl for her birthday on a Saturday afternoon. We put our name in to a 90 minute wait, so we bought an arcade all day pass to kill some time. We had an issue with the card and Cyle at the front desk apologized immediately and fixed the situation right away. Some how we missed our name or time slot to bowl and once again Cyle at the front desk to the rescue. Quiet on a Sunday night around 9PM. Didn't have to bowl next to anyone or wait. $7 to bowl, $4 for shoe rental, $3.50 to buy a pair of socks. Plenty of bowling balls available. Didn't like how once the last person finishes, the screen completely blanks and you don't get to see your final scores unless you get them printed up front. Game room was free but they got rid of skeeball to put in mario kart and ninja turtles. Pinball and buck hunter was also available. Pool is around $20 an hour. Clean bathrooms. Plenty of parking. My daughter was leaving town so we decided to have a little fun beforehand. I've been to King's before but not the Dedham location. We really loved this place. It was clean, staff was awesome, and we had fun. The food was awesome and the portions huge. Every time I visit this place, I have a great time. The drinks are shockingly fantastic, and the food is always prepared fresh here as well. The quality of the service varies, and occasionally the staff is not the friendliest. In addition to bowling, there are arcade games, and they also host karaoke nights. So this one is difficult. There are two very different parts to this experience and I would rate both of them very differently! So overall, I would say 3 stars. The cocktails were decent and even if they weren't they have plenty of beer and wine to chose from. The bowling part is most definitely a 5-star experience. Bowling has never been so fun. I grew up in a small town where everyone bowls but its sooooooo borrrrrrrinnnngggggg... You literally just stare at balls going down the lane and generally, the only sounds you would here are high fives and the balls crashing into the pins. This place, however... the lights... the music... It's like a dance party meets a bowling alley. The 3 stars basically reflects the quality of the food. I would give what we ordered 2 stars. The cauliflower app dish was a ball of super sauced mush... not appetizing by any means. We also ordered the southwest spring rolls which were ok. Come on, just drop some decent stuff in a deep fryer and call it a day! Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but that cauliflower is just inexcusable. Gotta remember to check out Groupon voucher if they have it available. I've paid full price a few times with SO and I'll agree with the other customers that the prices are a bit expensive for bowling especially on weekends. For just 2 games with my SO it cost about $40 plus the rental, before you're even tempted to order food! So you can imagine if you are with more friends it definitely adds up. The wait times are ridiculous if you don't get there early enough but they do have the option for you to kill some time and eat at their restaurant portion. They give you the option to push you up to the front of the waitlist if you dine there, but still doesn't really guarantee a reservation. Each time I've come here with friends we've had a blast though despite the higher cost. The food here also is quite tasty for a bowling alley. Usually at other places they just have chicken fingers, fries, hot dog or just some basic eats. I'd say it's definitely worth it if you have a discount voucher for the fun and convenience of the location in the mall area. Otherwise, I'll just save the splurge for a special occasion. read more
