Amazing food and service! Their pancakes are to die for, especially when you add yakisoba noodles

I'm just adding another Ramen stop to the map. Overall 8/10 for ramen,garlic tonkatsu. Broth flavor 9/10 with rich and slightly creamy. Decent amount of oil, not enough to drown out the other flavors. Egg was 9/10 for me, good flavor and softness, not as runny as I like them but that's my personal opinion. Pork was 10/10 for me, a melt in the mouth consistency but fried to a good texture on the outside. Noodles were 6/10, a normal noodle nothing spectacular. Still looking for a shop that allows a change in noodle firmness! I would recommend to others looking for good Japanese cuisine. 10/10 would recommend the iced matcha tea! Fantastic! Authentic Japanese food, and great service, simply top notch! You have to try the ceremonial matcha latte, which is so clean and on point. The owner apparently brought both the matcha tea and the tea bowl from Japan! Cannot be more authentic than this! Ramen is full of flavor and well balanced. Even the salad is so well seasoned! The desert is so light and creamy, and it was the best desert I have ever had! The bathroom is super clean, and the toilet has a seat warmer! I felt I was vacationing in Japan WHAT A GEM! read more

As a ramen connoisseur in the Denver area, this place beats out tokio, uncle, and jinya with their Osaka ramen. The staff is very friendly and professional. You can definitely tell that the restaurant is a mom and pop shop from Japan. The atmosphere pays homage to modern Japan as the servers and staff wear kimonos and the indoor decor has many items relevant to, I would hope Osaka. The food is astonishing, everything tastes homemade with exceptional flavors. The tea and drink selection is plentiful. We will be coming back here even with the drive from Denver. read more

This place was literally 2 minutes walk from our hotel so of course it's a must-try. This place is actually very few places left that are running by real Japanese people so I know what to expect. This is not a sushi place so you won't see all the crazy named rolls like in your local supermarket. All they serves are hot foods and hand rolls. 1st night I ordered spicy miso ramen (5/5)- the BEST ramen in the US, PERIOD! The broth is light, rich and perfectly seasoned. I don't have to wipe my mouth with napkins after every bites from tons of butter like every other ramen place wannabes do. The noodle is perfect al dente with pickled ginger, green onions and seasoned bean sprouts. 2nd night I ordered: Chicken teriyaki with white rice (4/5)- they use dark meat which gives more flavor but the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. My son loved it, that's all it matters. Osaka's ramen (5/5)- again ramens from this place shine. The broth is tonkotsu (creamy pork bone and veggie broth) ramen topped with chashu braised pork, boiled egg, bean sprouts, scallion. I couldn't tell the difference between this and spicy miso but wife said this one is way more flavorful. If you are around Pearl Street Mall and in the mood for Japanese food that's not sushi, skip all those sushi places you see on those streets and come to this place. Maybe my taste has been trained by California's huge variety of authentic Japanese food, this place really isn't as good as the rating suggests. I have no problem with the overall service and experience, but the taste is not good enough for its price point. I'm pretty sure I can buy better tasting boxed food from a Nijiya market back at home off the shelf. I guess my suggestion is that if you are used to more authentic Japanese food, lower your expectations before you come here. read more

We were looking for a ramen place In Boulder and Osaka's did not disappoint! My gf and I both had the Osaka ramen as well as a yellowtail and scallion hand roll, a California roll, and a hijiki seaweed salad. All of them delicious! The staff was awesome and informative. The only thing I would have to say was a bit of a negative was the service request system they have. It seemed no one knew exactly how to place the little block on the pedestal to ask for ordering, drinks, or the bill. One waitress told us to just turn it to the side that we needed and another told us to lay it flat on the side we needed. Please see the second pic I upload with this review. I was happily surprised when eating at Osaka's for the first time! Everything was wonderfully spaced out for social distancing, and all the tables had an amazing mechanism where you can tell your waiter what you need and it notifies them when you need something. This was great because the waiter only came when needed. My boyfriend and I were craving warm Ramen on a rainy day, and this hit the spot. I had the spicy miso ramen. It was fantastic, but I wish it was a little spicier (but I definitely love spice). My boyfriend had the garlic based ramen and he was obsessed, finished the whole thing. This might be the best meal I've ever eaten and I left this restaurant so happy! Everyone that works there is so so so nice and my friends and I were having so much fun talking to them! I got takoyaki which was amazing the flavor was great and the texture of the balls was so perfect. What a great spot! We had a delicious dinner and the staff were incredibly courteous. I also really appreciated the explanations on the menu of what dishes were/the history behind them. Ordered one of the okonomiyaki dishes - modan yaki - amazing! Very very tasty and I highly recommend trying it. We also had a chicken katsu plate - crisp, hot, and juicy. 10/10 for both! I visited this place to support them during the pandemic, and their strongest attribute is their service. Very attentive, patient, nice, everything you could want. The food is also great. I had the Okonomiyaki one time and was far better than the ones I make at home. Their unique burgers are an interesting twist on the traditional, but ultimately didn't agree with my tastes. An important note is that the presentation of the food (on the dish) is always beautiful and you can see the extra effort put in to make it look even more appetizing than if it were just thrown on there. This definitely makes for a great date spot, given the beauty put into every part of the establishment (from the building itself to the food). The food is a little pricey and also in smaller portion sizes than many other restaurants, but the great service, atmosphere, and attention to detail make up for it. read more

This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant I've been to in a while! What a fantastic experience!! I love that all the servers dress up in traditional kimono-style outfits, and everyone was SO nice. We ordered the Takoyaki appetizer, pork gyoza, salmon hand roll, and Osaka ramen. Everything was absolutely spectacular. We had never had Takoyaki before and the texture was incredible. The pork chasu in the ramen fell apart because it was so tender and melted in my mouth. I also had their matcha green tea in a beautiful and oversized tea cup! We wanted to order what looked like delicious dessert, but were too full. But WOW, I will never forget this place!! I also felt it was pretty affordable for the quality of food and service. The owner even walked around observing everything and I could just tell how much care and thought he has put into this place, like all his dreams came true! We WILL come back someday! read more

I've been here three times. It is located in a strip mall in Boulder across from McGuckin Hardware, meaning there's lots of parking. The first couple times, I tried the lunch combos of tempura and udon soup. Those were good. I'll say it isn't inexpensive at around $18. It's also not a sushi place. The food is upscale authentic Japanese. The owner is from Osaka. He move from there to Boulder. The third time I went, a couple colleagues treated me. The lunch specialty are Japanese burgers. The sandwich fillings are served between "buns" made of shredded cabbage or kale. I thad the American with bacon and an egg inside. Those range from $9 to $10. I'll try dinner sometime. read more

So this place was ok. Wasn't anything great and no, did not remind me of my time when I was in Japan other than the convenient call box. Ramen was average and everything was just priced too high for what it is. Ramen was prices were average. Tempura for $19? A side of rice that doesn't even have a cup of rice for added $2.50. Overall, not impressed with the food or menu. The service was wonderful though, very attentive. They do charge a service fee. Cocktails were ok, wouldn't get it again. Came to Boulder for business from DC. Overpriced and par on food. I had much better with same amount spent for 1 person of $45. Had pork pancake $16, sushi rolls plate (3 mini hand rolls with only 1 being salmon)$20, and minestrone soup (taste like out of can)$5. I was extremely disappointed and left quickly after eating. I went here a couple of months ago. I love eating Okonomiyaki but I never knew that there were two different kinds. Osaka's is the Kansai version without noodles. Unfortunately, my food did take a long time to arrive. I wish that our waitress kept us in the loop and would've told us that the kitchen was backed up. The Okonomiyaki was good but it was on the smaller side. I did like that it came in a cast-iron skillet but I was kinda sad that it wasn't served traditionally with a spatula. It was very difficult to cut the pork belly without it nor was I given a knife. At the end of the meal, the owner was amazing and apologized to every single table about the delay. The atmosphere was more on the modern side and all of the waiters and waitresses wore more traditional clothing such as kimonos. The restaurant had a more sophisticated feel even though it was "street food" being served. I'll probably dress up a little bit more if I come again. read more

Fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned! So crisp! Veggie Gyoza also nice and crisp-- very juicy inside and well seasoned. I got an Osaka burger with egg, avocado, tomato & wasabi mayo-- quite a heavy dish but what I could finish I very much enjoyed. Other than the tomato it was a bit dry-- I wish there were something else there to make it more moist and easier to swallow. Tried my friend's shiso okonomiyaki which was delicious with the soft and chewy mocha on top! A bit too rich for me-- wish there were something to lighten in a bit-- perhaps fresh shiso on top? Same with the cheese okonomiyaki-- very delicious but too rich-- needs more balance. read more

Don't make our mistake -- go now! :-) I've always been leary of restaurants in parking lots. You barely know Osaka's is near one. INCREDIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE! Osaka's is such a unique gem. Their alcohol list is MASSIVE! If you are a whiskey person, this place is for you. We enjoyed a plethora of small appetizers and entrees to get a feel for the restaurant. The owner came by our table to personally greet us and check in, as he did with every other occupied table. The food is delicious on top of everything. We live in a small downtown Japantown and are used to authentic food. Osaka's did not let us down! Everything we had was fresh, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. There is a street food twist here that we've never seen before. And they have these nifty communication devices connected by gps to their watches so you get quick service at your own time. Highly recommend! read more

Osaka's was the culinary highlight of our trip to Boulder. With so many amazing places to eat in this beautiful city, Osaka's was our absolute favorite. From the incredible ramen, authentic sushi, family-owned atmosphere, and modern decor, it was somewhere I would genuinely recommend to anyone and everyone. The service was incredibly fast, so the reviews below are quite confusing. They even have a small device at the table that syncs with the servers' watch to automatically let them know when you're ready to order or sign the check. Not to mention, the owner came over to our table, told us his inspiring entrepreneurial story behind the restaurant, taught us a little Japanese (as well as German!), and gave us an incredible recommendation... a Japanese pancake with "dancing" fish flakes! If you haven't tried it, I definitely recommend. It might sound a bit odd, but it honestly didn't disappoint. It made for a savory appetizer that everyone at the table easily shared, and something that I would have never known about otherwise! (And in case you're wondering, YES the flakes actually danced! ) I could go on and on about this place, and so could the three friends I went with. Give Osaka's a try! read more

So heavenly, my favorite dining experience so far in Boulder. I love Boulder but great ethnic food is a little hard to find. I had the salmon belly roll with the yellow fin roll, along with the fried Japanese pancake. I really really liked the sushi and would give it 5 stars! The fish was very fresh and definitely delectable. The portions are on the small size IMO, but the quality is great. The pancake was generously sized and a little salty for my taste, but very unique and I'm glad I tried it. A little less salt would have been good, otherwise a very cool dish. The desserts here are amazing. Asian restaurants usually don't have an extensive dessert menu as that's mostly a western dining tradition... but Osaka offers some pretty great desserts. My friend and I got the chestnut cake and the banana waffles, both of which were amazing. Last but not least the decor is wonderful, classy, and definitely a place that you would want to take the special people in your life to. It does make a difference to dine in a restaurant that is part sushi spot and part Asian museum, how much more fun can it get than that? read more

I am amazed with Osaka's. Everything about it is pure perfection. My husband and I came here on a Wednesday and despite the sign warning only reservations were guaranteed due to being short staffed, but they were able to seat us immediately. The inside is beautiful, being both aesthetically pleasing and immaculately clean. My husband decided to go with the teriyaki chicken "burger" (uses okonomiyaki instead of traditional burger buns), and I went with the Deluxe Yaki Okonomiyaki. My husband also ordered an iced latte, which was as delicious as it was gorgeous. The food was superb, and everything was cooked to perfection. Portion sizes were reasonable and the prices were still very fair. I am also a little obsessed with their service system, which utilizes a small block to request service, water, check, etc. It's truly remarkable and seems like a fantastic way to run a restaurant. Mr. Koji himself stopped by our table to refill our waters at one point, and he told us all about how he started Osaka's after having a dream 50 years ago of owning his own restaurant so that people could appreciate traditional "at-home" Japanese food. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about this place. This is where I would take anyone I wanted to impress, it will be my new celebration restaurant, and it is easily in one of my top five in the state, all while having prices reasonable enough to go for just a casual dinner as well.
