Agedashi tofu
Josh M.

I enjoyed this very authentic Japanese spot in boulder so much. I really liked the layout of this restaurant. It made me feel like I was in Japan for a moment. I would recommend making reservations since this place wasn't too big and was packed. We got lucky with a short wait. Everything was reasonably priced and tasted delicious. My favorite items were the agedashi tofu and the fresh rolls they made for us. Highly recommend.

Yellowtail with green onion roll, salmon roll, spicy salmon roll

Their restaurant gets super busy so we did takeout. It was a pretty chaotic experience ordering over the phone but seems like they are understaffed so I get it. The fish still tasted really fresh and everything was delicious. My favorite was the yellowtail!

Salmon Belly Roll

This is by far the best sushi place I've had in Colorado. The fish is absolutely fresh and the pricing is very fair for the quality and quantity that you get. Each bite left me wanting more and I have never had as fresh of fish as these. They literally melt in your mouth. I also ordered the Uni and Omakase. The Uni was not only sweet but was super buttery. Just how I love it. As for the Omakase I loved the experience and the selection by the chef. Thank you so much for the experience. I'll definitely be back! This place is very cozy, so I definitely recommend booking in advance. Staff are very friendly to also be very accommodating. Lastly get the mochi (plain) dessert with red bean and strawberry. Their strawberry had such a nice fragrance and the perfect amount of sweetness. Amazing!!!

Takoyaki

A busy place, but the service was great and the restaurant is super cute! Fish was super fresh and rolls were creative. Tried the takoyaki (5/5), spider roll (5/5, could tell the used real crab in there), rainbow roll (4/5), orgasm roll (5/5, very creative too), and hamachi belly sashimi (5/5, especially for the price). Overall a great and intimate spot!

Solid choice for sushi in Boulder. I've been systematically dissopointed by the sushi in Colorado and this place redeams it to some extent. Coming from Southern California, traveling between LA & San Diego I have become somewhat spoiled. With that being said, this place could most likely hold a 4 star where I'm from. Of course I wasn't blown away by any means but at least I was pretty happy with what we ordered. I recommend trying some of their special rolls that are not offered on the regular menu, but come on a separate piece of paper. The service was friendly, but a bit slow- however the restaurant was relatively busy. The place itself is nice, not very large but cool vibe. Parking is limited and tight. All in all- recommended. Happy eating!!

We had a great time at Tasuki. Everything we had was super fresh and came out fairly quickly. Servers were great. Nigiri was incredible. I love a classic salmon avocado roll and their's is SO good. Seems you can't go wrong with sushi at Tasuki. Great little spot for date night or with friends. We'll definitely be back!

Chef's recommendation

It was really good experience. Went out with some friends and we had a really fun time. The ambiance is really cozy, perfect for dates. The service is moderately okay. The food is really good. I was a bit skeptical with the quality of the food before entering but it was really good. You can taste the well cooked fish and the flavors were distinct with acute presence. Highly recommended (7.6/10)!

The best sushi in Boulder. The green mochi with strawberry in the center was one of the best desserts I've had at a restaurant. The service was super nice, and the atmosphere was just. Great. They deserve all the attention! On a fall night they warmed my heart and my soul!!! Thanks for the amazing food sushi chefs!!

This place is truly a hidden gem. We decided to check it out because it was on a list of recommended restaurants our hotel gave us. They said it was "a favorite local spot" and I can completely understand why after visiting. Everything we ordered was delicious and the staff were great as well. Highly recommend!

Spicy blue fin tuna and otoro
Kevin W.

Finding great sushi bars/izakayas in Colorado is hard. They're either too Americanized, poor quality fish, or the sushi isn't prepared like in high end bars in the coastal areas. My gf decided to go here after a good hike in Boulder. The otoro was on special that day and it did not disappoint. It was $10 for 2 pieces, which I thought was pretty cheap. It was buttery and melted in my mouth, it's rare finding good fatty tuna in Colorado. The spicy blue fin tuna roll was good but not the best, it was poorly assembled and it broke apart once picked up with chop sticks. The crunchy spicy tuna roll was even better, which I highly recommend. We finished off our order with edamame and some of the best karaage I've had in Colorado. Not a bad spot after a good hike!

I don't normally leave reviews, but the sushi here is incredible I strongly suggest getting the chefs choice nigiri. 10/10 this is the real deal, plus the whole staff and sushi chefs are sweet hearts.

How would you rate their uni sea urchin offerings? A friend of mine is a fan of uni, but I'm not, so I'm asking for him. I just ate here for the first time and loved the other offerings.

I do wish that I had saved some of the soba for when the hamachi came out but I did order those later. I would have preferred the hamachi to come with a bit of rice on the side but my boyfriend didn't mind the salad. It's a great date spot and if we were to sit inside there's options for Japanese style floor seating. When you go inside they ask you to take off your shoes and provide slippers for the restroom. Izakaya's are Japanese bars that have quick bites and snacks to choose from. I was excited to see we were heading in. Once arrived on Sunday night we were greeted and welcomed. Asked if we would like to take our shoes off and walk in as in Japanese culture this is very common. It really felt like I was in a Japanese izakaya in Japan We ordered - Tofu Steak - Baked Salmon w/ ikura & rice - Duck Skewers - Salmon Carpaccio Everything was delicious and cooked well. I could have ate 2 bowls of the salmon. Everything is nicely sized but a good size to not get too full to order more. This location is combined with another sushi restaurant and it's cool to see the sushi being made in front of you. Will be back!!

They have a roasted barley tea I love that has no caffeine as made without a decaffeinating process and so different than herbals common in Boulder. It has real substance. As we started to eat our pork gyoza and Ebi shumai we saw a lit candle in some food being carried across the room. Having eaten here baby times over the year, we were surprised as we had never seen this here. The entire restaurant broke in singing happy birthday to someone too far for us to see. As a server was passing our table, I mentioned we were celebrating my husband's birthday too. He said meh!d let someone know. As we were waiting for our dessert later, the owner who we've met before , with one of the servers who was carrying an ice cream mochi with a flaming birthday candle arrived and placed it in front of my husband and all the patrons broke out in sing again! Who knew this was a tradition here? The owner, who is almost always on the floor had an instant camera and too a picture of our table with the candle celebration. He made a copy for us to take home and one for nh husband to sign which will go up on some wall I had never noticed. We'll be sure to check in the walk the next time we are in. It's such a fun place with really good food. Do make a reservation these days. It's always busy, the now are only open Wed- Sat for dinner.
