If you come here, do yourself a favor and skip the standard rolls--go straight for the Omakase. It was easily the highlight of the meal. The chef's selection was incredibly thoughtful, featuring fish that was melt-in-your-mouth fresh and beautifully presented. Each piece was brushed with just the right amount of soy sauce, fresh wasabi or topped with a garnish that perfectly complimented the flavor profile of the fish. We were absolutely spoiled at Misaki! We stumbled upon this place on accident when my son had a day off of school and we were out running errands. Hopeful they would have lunch specials, and they surpassed expectations. There were no patrons at the restaurant when we sat down at the sushi bar, and the chef whipped us up some salmon with crab and wagyu beef with spicy wasabi on the house. Misaki makes really yummy food. We love their ramen, sushi, miso, everything we've tried. The dine-in experience is simple but fine. However, they need to figure out how to do takeout. I've ordered ramen for pickup at a later time, and could tell they made it right away and let it sit out for over an hour - cold and not fresh. I've also ordered sushi, when they didn't come to the takeout window or answer their phone, I went inside only to learn they'd given my order to someone else. Instead of quickly fixing it, the server questioned if I had a family member who may have picked it up, made me show her my order, and then, when the people brought it back 20 minutes later, she just handed me the bag - cold miso soup, warm sushi...not great. read more

When they're on their game, they're one of the best ramen restaurants available in Colorado. Their broth is the real deal. Prices are a hair steep. Pork is excellent. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck in my search for good Asian cuisine, with the exception of a Thai place in Broomfield. Misaki's was no exception to the disappointing meals that I've had in this area. From the difficult to read restaurant signage to the mediocre food and odd atmosphere, my experience was worth 1.5 stars--I'll round it up since the miso soup was decent enough. I ordered one of the lunch specials, while my dining companions got the shrimp and vegetable tempura and the lunch bento box. We also tried their pork belly buns, which we could've passed on. I took one bite and had to force myself to just chew and swallow...my taste buds and stomach were not in agreement with that decision though. It was by far the worst pork belly bun I've ever had. The miso soup that came with my meal was good, but it could've used more flavor in my opinion. All I can say is that I'm glad I didn't get sick from the raw sushi--I'll be honest, I was confused why one of my salmon nigiri's was torched when it wasn't supposed to be, so that made me wonder if something was wrong with that piece. I even did a sniff test, so to say that I wasn't at least a tad bit suspicious would be a lie. My dining companions and I all agreed that we would never come back or recommend this place. As soon as we left, we ended up getting food at Costco after running some errands. If that doesn't tell you anything about the food here, I don't know what will. Update: Was in the area so decided to give them another try. It was just ok. We ordered gyoza, calamari, egg rolls, shrimp and vegetable tempura, kaibashira, California roll, and Meji maguro roll. Gyoza was still a little cold in the middle but tasted fine. The calamari was a little doughy. The egg rolls were good. Tempura was pretty good. Batter was a little heavy and oily but was at least crispy. Sushi was pretty good. Kaibashira was tasty and fresh. California roll was pretty standard. The Meji maguro was fresh but a little bland. Over the past two years, I have searched for the best sushi restaurants along the Front Range with my boyfriend. He's been a sheltered newcomer to world of sushi (having grown up on the East Coast) with a stubborn dislike of shrimp, crab, and anything else found in the ocean. Nevertheless, he has accompanied me into each new sushi restaurant with a repressed sigh because he sees how happy it makes me. His attitude has drastically changed after visiting Misaki with me four months ago. In our quest for the Holy Grail of landlocked sushi restaurants, this is one of two places he insists on returning to. The quality of their sashimi and sushi is excellent and the staff is always friendly. After six visits, we still gravitate towards the Hokkaido roll (which has fresh scallops) and Chirashi bowl (with delicious sashimi topped with fresh wasabi). Watching my boyfriend excitedly try these new dishes, I realize now that it wasn't the sushi itself that he disliked at previous restaurants, but the poor quality of the fish. We now visit every 2-3 weeks and always sink excitedly into our seats to discuss our work week and spar with our chopsticks over who gets the last piece of the Hokkaido roll. When I drove up I admit the outside was not too appealing but once you step inside, you're immediately transported to Japan. Lia greeted and was our server; she was quite delightful. Omg the sushi here is incredible. I had the superior roll and it was amazing as I am a huge fan of mango. It had incredible flavor.
