The best sushi in Colorado. Maybe even the United States. I'm not exaggerating when I say this might be the best sushi restaurant I've ever been to. I honestly feel like even if I make it to Tokyo someday, this place might still be better. I'm a returning customer and come here probably once a week. That's how much I love this place. It's genuinely worth it every single time. Tony, the head sushi chef, is an absolute legend. He's one of my favorite people on this planet and, in my opinion, one of the best sushi chefs in the world. The level of care, skill, creativity, and passion he puts into every piece of sushi is something you don't experience very often. The fish is flown in fresh every single day, and you can taste the difference. Everything is incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and thoughtfully put together. You can tell Tony genuinely cares about the quality of every single piece he serves. This is their second location, and I've been to both. Both locations are amazing. You really can't go wrong with either one. If you love sushi, you need to come here. If you think you've had great sushi before, come here and let Tony change your mind. 100/10. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. I'll keep coming back every week.

    Amuse-bouche

I stopped in for lunch and had a really enjoyable experience overall. Right away I was served a complimentary amuse-bouche, which was a nice touch. It was a citrusy tuna dish with mandarin oranges and microgreens. The citrus sauce was bright and flavorful, and the mandarin oranges added a refreshing sweetness that paired really well with the dish. My only criticism was that the tuna itself wasn't quite as fresh as I've had elsewhere. I also ordered the spicy edamame. The seasoning had fantastic flavor, and the spice built gradually, leaving a nice lingering heat without being overwhelming. The only downside was that it was absolutely drenched in sauce. The sauce itself was delicious, but there was so much of it that the edamame became a bit soggy. Cutting the sauce back would make this dish even better. For sushi, I ordered the I-25 Roll and the Spicy Scallop Hand Roll. The I-25 Roll had a great balance of flavors, and the sauce complemented the fish without overpowering it. The fish-to-rice ratio was spot on, but similar to the amuse-bouche, I didn't think the fish was quite as fresh as I'd hoped. I'd put this roll around a 3.5/5. The Spicy Scallop Hand Roll completely stole the show. The spicy kewpie-style mayo was perfectly balanced, adding just enough richness and heat without overwhelming the scallops. I also appreciated that the filling was evenly distributed from the first bite to the last--no ending with a cone full of plain rice and seaweed. Honestly, it's one of the best scallop hand rolls I've had at any sushi restaurant. The scallops were spot on, and if I come back, I'll probably make it a point to try every scallop roll on the menu. The service was excellent throughout my visit. Everyone was attentive, my food came out quickly, and I never felt like I was waiting on anything. I visited during lunch, so it wasn't particularly busy, but the sushi chefs worked efficiently and everything arrived promptly. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed with comfortable booths and a really inviting sushi bar in the center that would make a great spot for drinks or a casual date night. Overall, I'd give Asaka Sushi 4 stars. The presentation, service, atmosphere, and flavor combinations were all excellent. My only consistent criticism was that the fish on a couple of dishes didn't taste quite as fresh as I'd hoped. That said, the Spicy Scallop Hand Roll alone is worth coming back for, and I'm already looking forward to trying more of their scallop rolls on my next visit.

Super excited for Asaka opening a location in Thornton! I've been going to their Centennial location; however, it is a little of a drive for me. I finally got to try them and was not disappointed! In fact, I enjoyed it more than the Centennial location. Plenty of seating, super friendly staff, and the food was on point! They have several booth seating and it's very cozy. This will be my new go-to place for sushi

Food 10/10 Ambiance 8/10 Love everything about this place! Fresh fish. Delicious food. Nigiri/sushi rolls are so flavorful- you do not need soy sauce! Clean restrooms. Beautiful and modern interior. Fast friendly service. The music was great (chill house). HOWEVER, they are using YouTube WITH ADS for their music!! It is so jarring and distracting to have a conversation when the chill ambient music is interrupted by a pharmaceutical ad warning that their drug can cause diarrhea or constipation. That's not what I want to hear while eating dinner. This is the best sushi in the north Denver metro area. Food is excellent. But the ambiance could be better. (Suggestion-Just pay for YouTube premium with no ads! Or use another ad free music service).

This might just be the best sushi spot in North Denver! We went on day 3 of their soft opening and were treated with edamame and a jalapeño yellowtail appetizer. As others posted, the fish was fresh and the presentation was beautiful. Great atmosphere, modern feel and friendly staff. We sat at the sushi counter and Chef Tony was fantastic. Highly recommend the seared Toro with toro topper. We will be back for sure.

    Japanese Tai

Came in for lunch and had a great experience. The staff was very friendly, and sitting at the sushi bar with Tony made the meal especially enjoyable. I ordered the negitoro roll, sake nigiri, Japanese tai nigiri, ama ebi nigiri, and toro nigiri. Everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. The quality of the fish really stood out. Excellent food, welcoming service, and a great overall experience. I'll definitely be back.

A group of four of us came in to try their 90-minute all-you-can-eat hot pot experience, and we left completely satisfied. The value is outstanding, especially considering the incredible selection they offer. You can choose from 11 different broths, 9 meat options, and an impressive variety of vegetables, noodles, seafood, fish balls, and sauces to customize every bowl. One of the best parts was experimenting with different combinations throughout the meal. We mixed broths, tried different meats, created our own dipping sauces, and enjoyed learning what flavors worked best together. It turned dinner into a fun group activity rather than just a meal. The staff was friendly, patient, and very helpful. Since it was our first time, they walked us through the process, explained how everything worked, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the experience. Whether you're a hot pot veteran or trying it for the first time, The Hot Pot Spot delivers great food, excellent service, and a memorable experience at a fantastic price. We'll definitely be back!

Our waitress was amazing - friendly, made great recommendations, and talked us through the menu, answer all of our questions thoroughly. We ordered the streak tartare app, clearly a staff favorite and they put a unique twist on the standard dish with mushrooms and a divine Dijon mustard sauce. The bread was baked to perfection - crunchy but soft all at the same time. My friend got the salmon, cooked to medium and I got the Jamaican jerk chicken which was not very spicy and contained a lot of flavor. The mango chutney and green mojo combo was complex and paired well with the chicken. My friend devoured she salmon so one can only assume it was delicious! I would highly recommend if you are looking for a date night or dinner with a friend and you're in the Broomfield area, Hickory and Ash is the spot!
