Our cook, Tim, was very talented and entertaining. We had a group of 8, and he went the extra mile to get everyone's order exactly right. Everyone was happy with the food from beginning to end. Very well-prepared and perfectly seasoned. Our waitress was very attentive and explained the menu options clearly. Our group did find the menu itself to be a little confusing. It was unclear whether those ordering the 5-course option could or should order a side dish. The waitress did a nice job explaining things, but it seemed like the menu left us with a lot of questions for the server. Overall great experience! read more

Jose was our chef at Benihana and he truly made the experience. He had a great presence at the table -- engaging, personable, and clearly very skilled. Everything was cooked perfectly, and you could tell he takes pride in both the food and the experience. I would definitely recommend asking for Jose -- he made the night memorable. read more

My wife and I stopped by Benihana Superior for happy hour and unfortunately left pretty disappointed with the food. We ordered a few appetizers and split the Wagyu New York steak. The chicken in the chicken fried rice was cold. Really cold. There was even a cold spot in the white rice. We ordered the Wagyu medium, but it came out past well done. It's especially frustrating to see such a great piece of meat ruined by being severely overcooked. The gyoza also had an unpleasant, rubbery texture. The bright spot was the service. Our waiter was fantastic throughout the meal, and the manager was very apologetic about the problems, which we genuinely appreciated. I understand that every restaurant can have an off night, but when multiple dishes come out with temperature or preparation issues--and a Wagyu steak is cooked that far beyond the requested temperature--it makes for a pretty disappointing "happy hour." So there we were: me and my emotionally fragile, hibachi-craving sidekick on what can only be described as a "repair the soul before we ruin someone else's day" outing. I showed up dressed like life had already defeated me--because, frankly, it almost had. I was one step away from rolling in actual dirt, but sure, let's go eat in public. She wanted hibachi, so hibachi she got. Enter Adam. Oh, Adam. The man, the myth, the employee the entire restaurant apparently plays hide-and-seek with. He swoops in, takes our order, delivers drinks like a champ, and then vanishes into the void. Not a break, not a shift change. A full Houdini act. Sir, are you on payroll or a seasonal illusionist? Meanwhile, the bar staff (absolute queens) notice we've been abandoned mid-dining experience. They step in, check on our food, start bagging things up like they're running a rescue mission. Because clearly, Adam is somewhere off filming a reboot of Gone Girl. (Screeeeeeech!! Loved that movie!!) Then, plot twist,he reappears. Across the room. At another register. Living his best, unbothered life. Naturally, I yell, "HEY ADAM! THEY'RE LOOKING FOR YOU!" because subtlety is for people with patience. The whole place gets a chuckle, Adam returns, and honestly? Round of applause. Performance art. Now, the food. I got the land and sea, filet and scallops. Asked for medium rare, got medium well, because apparently my preferences were just...suggestions. Still, it was flavorful enough, if a bit on the chewy side. Thank the sauce gods, because that's what carried it across the finish line. Scallops? Tasty, but tiny. Like "blink and you missed them" tiny. Sauce again doing the heavy lifting like an underpaid intern. Veggies and onions: a little greasy, but we move. Fried rice? Oh now THIS is where they decided to shine. Absolute perfection. Not dry, not mushy, just right. A few bonus pieces of chicken on top like a little "we care" sprinkle. Mmmm! Loved that for me. My emotionally recovering companion got the hibachi chicken and has since gone completely nonverbal, just aggressively shoveling food into her mouth like she's training for a competitive eating league. So yeah, safe to say she's into it. We also had gyoza and pork to start, solid, a little spice (always nice) sauce on the side, no complaints. Which, coming from me, is basically a standing ovation. Final verdict? Emotionally stabilized, stomach satisfied, and the real evening activity turned into an interactive game of "Where's Adam?" One minute he's taking orders, next minute he's a distant blur by the register, then*poof*gone again. If I could give zero stars, I would. We made a 6:30 PM reservation on Sunday, August 9 and arrived about 10 minutes early. You would think a reservation might mean something. Apparently not. We were finally seated around 7:00 PM -- 30 minutes after our reservation time. We had tickets to an 8:00 PM show, and when we made the reservation, there was plenty of time to enjoy dinner beforehand. Unfortunately, Benihana had a different plan for our evening. Our actual service didn't even start until approximately 7:15 PM. At that point, it was painfully obvious that the dinner we had planned was never going to happen. We had no choice but to have our food rushed, packaged up, pay the bill, and leave. To be fair, our waitress was fantastic. She was apologetic, kind, and clearly doing everything she could to fix a situation she didn't create. She had the cook short-order our food and got it packaged for us. So we paid and rushed to our show. And then came the punchline. Our order was WRONG. And we had also been CHARGED FOR SOMETHING WE DIDN'T ORDER. So we spent approximately $255 at Benihana and received: * A reservation that apparently wasn't worth much * A 30-minute wait just to be seated * Service that didn't begin until approximately 7:15 * No actual dining experience * A rushed takeout order * Food we didn't order * A charge for something we never ordered * And an evening that was completely disrupted Honestly, I'm not sure what was more impressive -- the ability to turn a 6:30 reservation into a 7:15 start, or the ability to get the order AND the bill wrong after charging $255. We weren't asking for anything unreasonable. We wanted the dinner we reserved, served in a reasonable amount of time, with the food we actually ordered, and a bill that reflected what we actually purchased. Apparently that was too much to expect. The waitress deserves five stars. The rest of this experience deserves one -- and only because zero isn't an option. Benihana Broomfield: if you're going to charge customers $255, maybe start by respecting their reservation, respecting their time and getting their order right. We won't be returning. $255 later, we still haven't figured out what exactly we paid for. read more

I stopped in here today just for a cocktail and perhaps a bite before I had a nail appointment. It was around 4 o'clock and there weren't very many people in there. I ordered a happy hour cucumber Collins. It was pretty good, but honestly could not taste the alcohol at all. I ordered something that I get quite often other places, but never here at Benihana, he seared salmon in Nigiri. The service was very friendly, but super slow. Took forever to get my cocktail and then to receive the Nigiri. The pieces of salmon were quite large and a little bit overcooked. I prefer my salmon kind of raw with a bit of a sear. This was cooked too much, in my opinion. Fresh flavor, but not executed well. I have been here for dinner previously, and I enjoyed it very much. This experience was not at the top of my list. Benihana has been my go to place for my birthday for the last five years. Food is always good. Dante is an amazing server! He was attentive, receptive to all our needs, personable, and, best of all, passionate. Randall, our chef, was also incredible! He kept the energy high with his creativity and sense of humor. Mind you, we arrived at 10 p.m. and didn't leave until midnight, and they were still giving us their all. I truly feel like we got the A-Team. Of course, the food and ambiance were amazing as well. For our Valentine's date, we'll always remember how talented and radiant they were. The food isn't good anymore. My filet was chewy. The chef's barely do anything fun because they are on such a tight schedule. They pack people in, putting people at the corners of tables and they allow too many reservations at once. Our res was at 6, got there at 6. We didn't get seated till 6:45. Our waitress had way too many tables. She didn't bring the appetizer before the food...or green tea that we asked for. When our $8 and $10 fried rice upgrade was finished cooking the chef didn't have the bowls to put it in. It is soo expensive now and the quality and service has gone way down in the past 10 years. Got uber eats recently from this location and it was very disappointing. The service was fast, but the food was all over the place. The white noodles for kids, was full of salty yakisoba sauce (clearly the wrong order), the sashimi platter was overpriced and the fish were not fresh (strong fish smell). The steak burrito was decent, but I ordered a garlic sauce and when I opened the order, it looked like someone just mixed garlic and hard butter (it was not a sauce, but a hardened butter-like condiment). The entire restaurant smelled like raw sewage coming from somewhere around the bathroom. The management staff was friendly and understanding about my reservation party being a little late. Our server who ill call J seemed kind at the start but quickly forgot about our table and got the order wrong on 6 six sperate occasions then came back and yelled at my sister, sure maybe it was to talk over loud restaurant but she choose to talk over the grill across from my table, and processed to yell and berate us about how she doesnt make mistakes, not to mention when I made the reservation i made it for her and her husband's birthday, I brought it up the server and the Chef David who was amazing with my sisters kids, over all a regrettable evening out with the 8 of us. My Oracle team from around the country met in Broomfield this week, and we had a farewell dinner at this restaurant. I ordered a seafood entree (shrimp and scallops) Service was fine, and the food tasted like it was prepared properly.. but I experienced severe food poisoning (diarrhea) for the entire evening.. and this has persisted for 3 days. To make matters worse.. I had my flights home, and had to endure the aftermath during my travel. I am 62, and have never experienced such a terrible event linked to a meal. Filed a detailed report on Iwapoisoned.com .. and learned that this chain has a history of similar incidents. Oh where to start. We had a 7:30 reservation but weren't seated until 8:30. Not a word or apology from any employee about taking over an hour wait for a reservation. At the beginning our chef was enjoyable, though the fun only lasted for the first ~10 minutes. It was surprising how long it took to get from rice to shrimp to steak to veggies. All of the food was very oily and not enjoyable. And my order of steamed rice never arrived, even asking about it twice. For ~$60 a plate you'd expect some incredible food, but this was more at the level of mall food court. When we got our bill there was a mystery $58 item added, thankfully when I called it out to the employee the fixed it. There were other tables that seemed to be getting quite the experience from their chef, unlike ours. Sadly the table next to us were seated and waited over 30 minutes before a chef appeared. Pretty awful to not have any food while watching the table next to you get served. I was hopeful for a great night, but after 3 hours, terrible food, and a $300 bill for 3 people I can't say I'd ever return or recommend this spot. I would love to come for the first time to relive the experience. First off, the wait time was surprisingly fast because of the amount of people that were waiting. Once we sat down in a private room the server was fast to get us our drinks! The smell and ambiance was so realistic to a traditional hibachi restaurant. Their culture on the walls and you could feel it all around you. And oh the food was spectacular! Our server Gerzom made the experience even better, The food was amazingly delicious and made me want more but I was stuffed from the ocean treasure and the shrimp crunch roll I ordered. The salad was 10 prices of lettuce. The soup was decent (honestly highlight of the meal). One of our entrees was the steak and it was straight fat. The chicken tasted like salt. The dish came with chicken fried rice and it just tasted like chemicals. The only redeemable qualities was the soup, sadly. My margarita also tasted like salt. Where do I start? We were celebrating three birthdays today. Mine was one of them the big 60!!! My godson and a the oldest nephew. The employees were very nice to us. There was a very nice lady who took our pictures before and after the meal. I'm not sure what they are called but the first grill master Adonis who preps the food for the chef was very nice and entertaining as was the actual chef. The manager came over and congratulated us on our birthday even gave me a free birthday shake due to my attire. The food was awesome and cooked to perfection. I actually got a perfect medium well steak unlike other steakhouses that I have to return twice there. It's hard to take pics of the full meal as it came in courses. And didnt want food getting cold. All said and done unfortunately after we sat I noticed the carpet below and around our table looked like it had not been swept up from the previous evening. I looked behind the food prep and it was messy as well with broken dishes. I'm saying this because we had a reservation for noon and the store opened at 11. Yes I'm surmising that we were the first patrons at that table as it took us over an hour from start of food prep to finish eating so I'm sure no one was there before us today. We brought it up to the food prep person and he said he'll bring it up to the manager attention. Not sure if he did or not. We had one member of our party who went to the wrong restaurant so I asked the hostess if I needed to change my reservation since we were going to be 30 minutes late. She told me not to worry and they would seat us when we had a full party. After our last member arrived, we told the hostess we were ready and ten minutes later we were called to be seated. Just as we were being lead to our table, the manager informed us that he had canceled our reservation 40 minutes earlier (but AFTER I had talked to the hostess about our party running late). I understand cancelling a reservation for a late party, but don't tell me there isn't a problem, let me sit at the bar ordering overpriced drinks for 30 minutes, and then tell me there's a problem. read more

Disclaimer: We came for happy hour NOT for the hibachi experience. Food: Some of it was good, some of it was mediocre. Had a bite of the crunchy shrimp sushi roll which was probably the best thing, yummy and good flavor with a good sauce. I also had the salmon crispy rice which was good, however it was a very small amount for the price. I also had the pork gyoza which was good, crispy and flavorful. I also had the wagyu burger for $9 for happy hour which left me with high hopes. Unfortunately, it did not meet those standards, I was worried at first it was not totally cooked, with me pulling out a piece of what could've been almost raw meat. The fries were also not good, with cayenne pepper thrown on there making it spicy but giving it no flavor. This was a bummer burger. Service: I did not have a good experience. Our waiter took forever to take our orders, almost 15 minutes when we had been ready for those 15 minutes. Then they went to the table next to us and took their order. They were not attentive. The burger also took almost 40 minutes to come out when it shouldn't have taken that long for an almost raw burger. Ambience: The hibachi section seemed fun and inviting but the happy hour section was not, our table was sticky and they only put 2 napkins on a table when there was 4 seats. Small dining area. My partner and I had a BLAST taking his mom and kids here for dinner. No one except me had been before, and Benihana is too iconic not to try it at least once. Love this Broomfield location. The restaurant felt familiar from all the times I went as a kid. I ordered the Surf n Turf entrée. Delicious steak, scallops, veggies, and hot sake. I made sure the kids got to try the Strawberry Ramune that was on the menu. I remember that the experience was a little much as a kid, but I had a blast as an adult. Probably helped with Jessica (server) and Deon (chef) provided incredible customer service. They were cheery and helped make the visit fun. We'll see if the kids ask to come back! read more

Don't believe the complete BS about their being unable to seat you at the time the reservation is booked. They don't' have enough staff and oversell the restaurant anyway. Had high expectations for what I assumed was a higher end hibachi place, even though it's a chain. Never been before, but took 45 minutes to be seated past our reservation, not counting time waited at the table for a chef. An up charge for fried rice, and the restaurant smelled extremely unpleasant like sulfur. Also, yumyum sauce is another up charge. My expectation and previous experience at hibachi restaurants is having plenty of food both at the table and leftover. Quite the opposite here, our chef even discarded extra fried rice (that is UP CHARGED) as opposed to divvying it up to patrons. Overall underwhelming and extremely overpriced considering how tiny the portions are. read more
