This is our go-to sushi spot in this area! A great place to eat with your family, a group of…read morefriends or date night. They have good selection of classic and special rolls and their sashimi cuts are always thick and fresh. Along with sushi, we enjoy the hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), the miso black cod and on occasion, the New York strip black rock grill. My kids love the calamari and all the items on the kids menu. We've never had a bad experience here over the years that we've been customers. We've also never had bad sushi, whether it's dine in or take out. They also make a great sushi party tray, which I order often. The space is smaller and the dining area is often packed, but it doesn't feel crowded. Service has always been good, with the owner checking up on customers often.

Hana Matsuri used to be my favorite sushi place but after today I don't think I will be back. The…read moreserver was so rushed and abrupt with clearing out the table, smaking dishes together, and didn't ask if we wanted anything else. He just assumed. Well actually we were not done eating, we had planned on ordering more, but after him making us feel bad for even being in there we ended up leaving. It was not busy at all. I would think you want the business. The Philadelphia roll barely had any salmon in it and really should be called a cream cheese roll if 80% of the roll is cream cheese, and there was barely any rice on it. You give out free Beer and Sake for reviews on Google, if all you had to do is give half way decent service and stick to your standards that you had for years

Looking for a new sushi bar to check out in early January we decided to visit Matsumotto Sushi &…read moreGrill based on their Yelp reviews and photos. We arrived at 6:30 pm on a Saturday evening to full restaurant which was a great sign. You also want to see your sushi bar moving a lot of product so you know their seafood will be fresh. Lucky for us there were two seats at the bar open so we were seated right away. We started off the meal with of course some Sapporo and premium sake along with a tempura app. I've not found great tempura in the area and was pleasantly surprised with their preparation. We then ordered a Chirashi bowl (wife) and assorted nigiri for myself. The chirashi was okay, decent but not anything amazing. Some of the fish cuts were a little odd like they were the trimmings from the end of the filet. My nigiri was solid and I appreciate the fish to rice ratio was perfect as lot of other places make their sushi with way too much rice to stretch the dish. The amaebi or sweet shrimp was fresh and heads were nicely fried and tasty though I wish they fried it a minute longer. Overall a solid sushi bar tucked away from the main road but definitely worth a visit!

We drove all the way to Aurora for some ramen, and when we got there the place was packed. So we…read moreheaded back home to try out Matsumotto. I am so glad we did because this place is a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Once we were inside we were greeted by friendly staff and seated, cold glasses of water came alongside the menus. We decided on some sushi, a plate of Shrimp Yakisoba, and Kobe Beef Fried Rice. The fried rice was so delicious. The best I've had in a long time, the last time I had fried rice this good was when my friend's Japanese grandmother made it for us. That was over 15 years ago. I am also a big fan of Yakisoba, and this Yakisoba was also one of the best I've had in a long time. The sushi was excellent too. The inside is decorated with a nice modern feel, and it's clean and tidy. I love the feel in here. People are just talking, eating, it feels like a true neighborhood joint where there's regulars. I have a feeling I am going to become a regular here too.
