The Banh Mi bowl is quite interesting, a bbq Asian fusion, which I enjoyed but my friend didn't. The steak bowl was great too. Ordered my food for takeout and it was not on time. There were many people waiting, I think they might be understaffed or it was rush hour, not sure. I usually am fairly happy with Tokyo Joe's. I am an addict member and have been for several years. This past visit was disappointing. None of the customizations for our to-go order was done as we asked. I was a bit disappointed, but things happen and I'm sure I would have returned at some point. What made things worse, however is I was sent a review from TJ in my inbox and was honest with my feedback. I was then offered a free entree added to my addict account, which I thought was very kind. I replied to the manager's email, but got blown off and no free entree added to my account. Apparently the "offer" was just a formality. This place has turned into a complete disaster. What used to be a place to go to get a decent meal has become a place that over charges and under delivers. Today I ate here for the first time in a couple months, not because I didn't try. Each of the past few times I came in on my lunch hour, I stood in line for minutes while the understaffed establishment fulfilled many online orders. So I tried to order my usual, big chicken bowl with the top 5 veggie mix, sweet potatoes, and spinach. The cashier informed me that they had to charge extra for anything over 5 veggies. So I declined and told him that they never used to charge extra (for the past several years), and I just took the "top 5" veggie mix. There are MAYBE 2 other people in the restaurant and it took 15 minutes for my food to come out. OK fine... so it finally comes out and, to my surprise, not even all of the "top 5" mix was included (definitely no broccoli). So the fact that they were going to charge me extra for extra veggies, then didn't even give me what I ordered irritated me immensely. Now the "big" bowl (for an additional $2.25 more used to come in a big bowl that was full. Instead I received a big bowl, but was only half full. So charged for a large size but given a small size portion. I used to eat here a lot, so I know the difference. This place is always understaffed and usually the people they have working here are running around looking like they don't know what they are doing. But I blame it on the staffing. They are overwhelmed and usually very friendly. Well this was the last time TJ's. You've lost my business. read more

I don't dislike Tokyo Joe's, but somehow I always end up really wanting it and then being a bit let down when I actually have it. They have decent rice bowls and I like that you can add everything you want and customize them. The poke bowls are okay, nothing like one would be from an actual poke place but solid. The "sushi" is eh, hard to mess up a Cali roll and that's about the only one that I like here. The food at this one seems to take forever to come out, even when it was nearly empty it took 20 minutes to get our food last time. Overall I'd say it's not a bad option but it's nothing amazing. If you're looking for a healthier option for lunch or dinner it's great for that and I do like that this location has lots of seating and a nice patio. read more

They used to have serious quality control problems which seemed to disappear once worthless CEO Larry stepped aside, since he was in constant denial of the issues and once told me I was the problem. Now Tokyo joes menu has none of the great dishes they used to have. Had the bbq bahn mi bowl today and it was just ok. Not enough chicken for the price. Lettuce wraps are gone. Peanut skewers are gone. Past salads are gone. Kids chicken nuggets are disgusting. The menu isn't as exciting and diverse as it used to be. This is my first time back in almost 2 years. This used to be such an outstanding chain. This is evidenced by their slow national growth. I can say for sure that their original chicken and teriyaki is the same as always. Very very good. Same with spicyaki sauce. Spring rolls still great as well. If you want real, authentic Japanese food, head over to Tokyo Teriyaki, which isn't far away. Made by people from japan. The staff had no sense of urgency in getting food out and offered no reason or apology for the abysmal service. We waited and our dinners were good, as usual. Quite a few people walked out as we waited and we were minutes away from asking for a refund when our name was finally called. I've always been fond of Tokyo Joe's food, but mostly only ordered it online. Today was one the few times where I ordered it in store. The guy who was taking my order didn't say a word, just waited for me to say my order making this a very awkward experience right out the bat. He then proceeded to cut me off while ordering my food as if I wasn't even there to tell another employee to put some ingredients somewhere on the counter. AND...after I left my first review of this location, someone from Tokyo Joe's sent me an email apologizing for the bad experiences and saying they would send me some gift cards for free food. Hungry as ever and w a small group of four, we stopped in here to fill our tummies. At 1st glance, there were rows of tables to choose from w happy patrons from couples to groups chowing down. The setting was warm & inviting - perfect for a late lunch / early dinner. And while this was our 1st visit, the staff at the counter were surprisingly patient as we each gazed at the menu above on what to order. I liked that they offered many healthy options here. Minutes later we finally decided and ordered the following: *Tokyo Salad *Joe's Roll *California Roll *Miso Soup bowls x2, and a *Build-Your-Own-Bowl of White Chicken over Brown Rice w Teriyaki Sauce and a side of Edamame Beans, Broccoli, and Snap Peas Prices were reasonable. And the food was oh so delicious! We shared most dishes except the soups. And when our soups seemed to have gotten cold fast, we humbly asked if they would be so kind to warm them up in a microwave. To our surprise, the attentive manager came over to our table and advised us that they did not have a microwave and kindly offered to bring us hot servings in new bowls. Now that's great customer service! We weren't expecting replacements, but we sure appreciated his offer and kindly accepted. 8D Each staff member from those at the counter waiting anxiously to take our order to those on the floor clearing tables and offering condiments and chop sticks, to the manager who came out of his way to offer us fresh hot miso to replace our cold ones were superb in treating us w genuine hospitality. Needless to say, I had the most amazing healthy bowl and my husband had out of this world coconut curry soup. Presentation was so appealing. The kindness continued. Before leaving I was interested in an item. Front counter amazing manager Jenna Peterson going far and beyond in accommodating me along with Kitchen Manager, Noah Peterson more than I could expect. This was my first time going to Tokyo Joe's. I took my daughter and granddaughter for lunch. I think the menu is way overpriced especially for what little amount you get. I have never gone to a restaurant before and not had at least a small amount of leftover to take home for the next day but at Tokyo Joe's yesterday, I had nothing left over and I am a light eater. Let food was OK and that's all I can say. It came out tepid warm, not hot, and I did get the teriyaki dressing on my bowl on the side and I'm glad I did. I got a bowl with chicken at five vegetables and teriyaki sauce on the side. The meal was just "OK" and that's all I can say about it. For three people for lunch to each of us just got one Small bowl of food and a drink at our total bill includin Small bowlwas $40. Tokyo Joe's is not a regular Type of restaurant... It's more of a fast food Asian restaurant dad way overpriced with small portions, basic flavor, and that's about all I can say. read more

But I've repeatedly received food so bad it's inedible from this Tokyo Joe's location. I've been a consistent customer at Tokyo Joe's for years, but after repeated bad experiences like this, complaining about it and then being told it would be corrected, only to experience the same issue again the next week, I've decided I will no longer be a customer of Tokyo Joe's.
