About an hour in, this dude comes inside with the biggest pit bull I've ever seen. It must have been bred with a horse or something, it weighs a solid 125+ pounds. Guy sits at the bar and the bartenders ogle the dog and usual. The dog lays down on the floor at the corner of the bar, on the way to the restrooms as the guy flirts with the bartenders and has his drink. 10min later this chick walking to the bathroom trips over this black dog lying on the floor and faceplants onto the floor! Lady pops up from embarrassment and dog owner grabs its chain before it has a chance to react. Fricking hilarious, but crisis averted! The guy moves to a table at the middle of the bar with the same dog at his feet. The moron bartenders don't bother to tell him to go outside or anything else. So 5 min later a guy walking buy steps on the dogs leg or tail and the thing jumps up and almost lunges at the guy and starts barking. It was frickin unbelievable how stupid he and the workers here were. Finally one of the guys in the bar says something to the bartender about the dog, and they just wave him off. Wow! We visited the newly opened OSA Rooftop in Pasadena, and it instantly became one of my favorite rooftop dining spots in the area. The space feels dreamy and open, with a beautiful view over the city -- especially during golden hour. Food: Every dish we had was bright, fresh, and beautifully done. * The crispy Brussels sprouts were perfectly caramelized and flavorful. * The burrata with local peaches tasted like pure California summer on a plate. * And the OSA Burger deserves its own paragraph -- double Wagyu patties, truffle dijonnaise, soft bun... truly one of the best burgers I've had in Pasadena. Drinks: Their cocktails are crafted with intention. I loved the Cucumber Vesper for something clean and elegant, and the Cactus Cooler had this smoky, desert-inspired twist that was surprisingly refreshing. Ambiance: This rooftop brings such a pleasant vibe -- modern decor, warm lighting, and a view that makes the whole experience feel special. Great for date night, birthdays, or a relaxed evening out. Service: The staff was friendly, attentive, and knew the menu well. Everything came out at a good pace, and they were happy to offer recommendations. Overall, OSA Rooftop offers seasonal plates, thoughtful cocktails, and a gorgeous city view -- exactly the kind of place you'll want to return to again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great night out in Pasadena. read more

Amazing New Rooftop Spot - Osa Rooftop at the AC Hotel! Osa Rooftop at the newly built AC Hotel in Pasadena is an absolute gem! Ah, another restaurant where the main course is clearly the view--because the food is just there for moral support. The service? Surprisingly decent. We rolled in without a reservation like total chaos goblins, and the hostess still managed to squeeze us in within minutes. The catch? We had to inhale our meal in under an hour, as if we were competing in a competitive eating contest we didn't sign up for. Now, the food. Let's just say it won't be haunting our dreams--or convincing us to come back. The beef carpaccio was so salty, I half-expected it to start curing itself. The tuna tartare was actually good, which feels like a trap, but the bread that came with it? About as crispy as a damp sponge. The truffle fries were... fine. The steak frites? Also fine. The swordfish? You guessed it--fine. As in, "fine, I guess I'll eat it since it's in front of me." All in all: come for the view, stay because you have to finish in under an hour, and leave wondering why the word "okay" is now permanently burned into your vocabularies. read more

Not sure if we would come back due to the prices of the steak.. a bit pricey for what it is... compared to other steak places in this tier. At 6PM, Alexander's was not busy at all, although walking in, everyone seemed to be busy with everything except for the customer. Hostess was not in front at the time, waiters in the dining table seemed to be just standing talking to each other. The cooking staff seemed to be talking to each other as well. We received no greeting.. we thought maybe they weren't opened yet? But sure enough they were. Maybe it was because I was wearing shorts and a tshirt? Who know.. but after some time, the hostess came and asked how many people in our party. I mentioned two, and that's when she received a phone call... It was the steakhouse phone, so must've been someone asking questions, but she was literally on the phone for a good two minutes with no sense of urgency to hang up the phone. After the two minutes, someone else came by and seated us. We were told that Frederick would be our server. Not sure if it was actually Frederick that waited on us since we did not get an introduction, but he was a French guy. Not too friendly, to the point, but was attentive when he was around. The back waiter was a lot more friendlier and personable. He was the main reason we had a good experience! As we were waiting for our order (it seemed like we had a back waiter. We'll call him Chris) He comes up and serves us a watermelon hors d'oeuvres or something that came from the chef. We put it on the side since we were waiting for our drinks to come. Old fashioned with bourbon - this drink looked a bit plain, and was a bit too sweet for my liking. Presentation had one color going on. They should have garnished with a cocktail cherry. Geez I sound so bougie. haha - 6/10 Saturday night's ... - A lot of words for a simple drink. My wife said it was definitely refreshing and she would get it again, but nothing stood out about the drink. - 5/10 Watermelon hors d'oeuvres - This was very good! Watermelon was sweet. It had a salty flavor to it with a hint of mint to it. It was definitely refreshing! 9/10 Bread Basket - It was okay. The cinnamon roll looking thing was ooooookay.... the pretzel bites were the best and the long thing was wayy too dry - 5/10 Hamachi Shots - These were good.. not great. No one showed us how to eat this. It was a hamachi fish and other stuff in a shot glass. Can't just pour it out because the fish would get stuck inside the shot glass. If you scoop it with the small spoon they give you, you don't get to enjoy all the ingredients at once in your mouth. Very weird. It was good.. if you shoot the sauce, it becomes very overpowering with ponzu notes, so I assume you just use the spoon to scoop out the hamachi in two spoonfuls - 7/10 Hokkaido Scallops - These were the takeaway for my wife. I thought they were really good as well, once you know what to expect. Scallops usually have a light flavor to these. The Hokkaido scallops served here are garnished with backed fish flakes similar to katsuoboshi, which upped the ocean flavor up by 100. It took a bit to get used to since I was not expecting it to be such a powerful taste. When you expect this, each bite after that is amazing. I recommend eating a small bite first, then finishing it up on your 2nd bite 8/10 Australian Bone-In Ribeye - We had this at medium rare. This was a fatty steak, but was a bit too fatty for medium rare. I should have ordered medium so the fat would render a bit more. The cut we had had lot of fat on one end and perfect marbling on the other. I think I just had a no-so-great cut. What I found odd was that the steak comes pre-cut. Usually high quality steakhouses don't do this to lock in the juices of the steak, and other steakhouses do this more to make a tough steak seem more tender by cutting against the grain for you... in this case.. I hope it was for presentation.... I was not a fan that they cut our ribeye for us. 7/10 Yu-Choy - This was AMAZING! Vegetables with an Asian flare. This is a must have! I wish I could write more, but there is a cap on review length - 10/10 Mushroom Medley - This was also amazing!! A mushroom medley covered in butter with a hint of yuzu! This was so good, we almost ordered two! 10/10 Creme Brulee - Good, but not great. Not a fan of the bourbon that they infused in the dessert 5/10

Truly made us feel appreciated. The restaurant is well designed and has a classy, intimate tone. I am a more casual person but did not feel out of place being here. There is valet parking and it's not overpriced. Cocktails are great. Ordered scallops for starter and they were delicious. Highly recommend. Ordered the porterhouse and filet mignon. Both were cooked perfectly. Taste was exceptional. Loaded baked potato was my favorite and it's a massive portion. Brussel sprouts were average. Patrick took care of us and provided a complimentary dessert. He elevated the entire experience by not only being generous, but because he was attentive and kind. Overall, if you are considering Arroyo Chop House for date night or for a special occasion then make a reservation with them. You won't regret it!

I'm definitely not a novice to fine dining, so I can hands down say Arroyo provides a superior and supreme experience. For starters: they provide bread and butter , which you can choose from 2 different types: sourdough or garlic . We chose both , definitely freshly made. Only issue is that they gave 2 slightly small bowls of butter for x4 people. I personally believe that each person should be initially served with their own butter bowl if the portion of butter is small, but that's just me . Not a slight against the chop house, because of course, a person can just ask for their own. The waiters were very attentive , as much as they could be , because for a Wednesday night, it was really busy. -The drinks: Wonderful! Tasty and decent with the alcohol. I tried the Hugo Spritz and Tangerine Sour. One of my friends in attendance had Straw and Berry. The Hugo spritz is light and refreshing, very soft alcoholic drink. The Tangerine sour , was nice! It was potent! A little more sour than I would have liked, but I'm still not complaining. This is a good drink if you don't mind citrus. For the straw and berry , very cute and definitely has both sweet and the potency available at its advantage. -For Parking its mainly valet only .$8 not too bad . There may be street parking available but it is limited and timed. -For appetizers we chose the oysters and bbq shrimp. I'm not a big fan of oysters but they were very tasty nonetheless , when the extras are added (lemon, sauce) . The bbq shrimp ?? You gotta try it ! If you don't have any allergies. Very delicious. -For entree , I had filet mignon wagyu steak. My first time having and definitely recommend. The meat was so tender , juicy and damn near melted in your mouth straight delici-gasm. As a few sides we all chose , green beans , and garlic potatoes. -During our dining, we had to have a slight change in accommodations mid reservation to accommodate an extra diner, and the staff were more than happy to accommodate us. They helped move all food and drinks to the new table. Excellent customer service ! -The chocolate souflee with vanilla ice cream was recommended to us by our waiter, it was a wonderful dessert to finish off the meal. Served warm, was Delicious! Definitely would recommend. Had a great experience.

I would like to start this review by saying that this place was absolutely PACKED but the staff did such a great job to make sure we were well attended and keep the energy up with the match going on....hats off to them! Our buddies were able to secure a spot in the outside patio area to view the game. They offer QR code menus where you can pay and order with a table number connected to your table. This makes ordering so much easier, especially for such busy days like World Cup game days. I ordered the Carne Asada tacos, so delicious and had a nice little smoky taste. My husband ordered buffalo wings, fish and chips, and onion rings; he loved everything. Our first time trying this place located in Pasadena and it definitely won't be our last, thank you again, staff for such an amazing experience!!!

We enjoyed a nice, crisp bottle of white Greek wine, though the markup is steep--it ran around $80 for a bottle that retails for $18, and most of their list is well over $100. As for the food, the fried olives ($13) were very tasty, even if $13 feels a bit high for six olives, and the cheese board ($24) felt a little sparse for the price. It's definitely not a budget-friendly place to drink, but the atmosphere and service are wonderful. The price tag is really the only drawback!
