Worth visiting around Sunset for the view. In short food is fine, drinks are fine, service is good. It ends up being a better than average hotel restaurant rather than a real destination restaurant. Arrival was a little odd. I later found a crazy tunnel with billowing fabric and strange lighting that I suppose is the intended entrance, but initially entered through the lobby, and guessed that I just go up the normal guest elevator to the top floor. View was immediately stunning. Decor is good if de rigueur. Feels like a budget version of the decor at Agua Viva at the Conrad. Menus are initially impressive but ultimately annoying. Heavy leather bound with a strap, paper falling apart inside. Odd to mention at all, but they kind of demand attention which is annoying in itself. We ordered "Marinated Stuffed Olives" which were actually olives fresh out of the jar stuffed with Queso??? One of the worst dishes I've ever been served at a restaurant. Looked disgusting, tasted awful. Also was just a shock to the system. Felt like a prank. Otherwise we had Tacos which were better than average, and steak frites which were about what you'd expect for a hotel steak frites. Really tasty fries and average steak. The cocktail menu was done by the mixologist from Capri Club, which is why we were excited to try this restaurant, but it ultimately is pretty standard hotel cocktail fare. Understandable to play to the middle for a hotel restaurant, but disappointing. A fine place to go if you are staying at the hotel or want somewhere to watch the view, otherwise skip it. read more

The food is a little pricey for what you get, but the ambiance makes up for it. Osa rooftop was a great experience! We ordered shoe string fries for appetizers, swordfish and chicken tacos for entrees and had the chocolate mousse cake. All were amazing! We went at sunset and saw amazing views of city hall and other buildings. The ambiance was amazing and they started playing Casablanca on the side of the building. I was perfectly. But we went through 3 different waiters throughout dinner and they were out of most of their wines on the list which was frustrating. Will give it another try since the food was so good. Osa is a really beautiful rooftop bar and just what Pasadena needs. We were really excited to celebrate our friend's birthday here. I know they haven't been open for long, but service was still disappointing. The servers didn't know their alcohol list, or the food menu well. They were out of a few food items that we tried to order because the night before was busy. My husband tried to ordered three different drinks which they were also out of. One was a beer, a liquor based drink and then an iced tea. Our server didn't even offer to make iced tea, she just laughed and said they were out which I found rude and unprofessional. The steak frites were really yummy, but the servers forgot to put in two of our tables appetizers. They finally came out over an hour later after having to remind them multiple times that we never received them. I understand that this is a bar, but it is also a hotel, so I was surprised that there was no changing table in the restroom. I guess that means that families with babies aren't welcome here. Overall, not a great experience. Hopefully it'll get better over time. read more

2nd time dining here. Our server started out strong: was very polite and professional. However, as the dinner went on, the service progressively got worse. To the point where she didn't say one word to us/didn't acknowledge us after paying our bill. After she took our order, we barely saw her. We had to ask her co-waiter/assistant repeatedly for water refills. Was it because we were a party of 6 and gratuity was already included? We really hope this restaurant fixes their poor service. I'm so happy I got an email to leave a review because man oh man! What a terrible experience I had reserved a table for 6 to celebrate Mother's Day and not only did they put us at a table where it was extremely hot, humid and the chairs were dirty, but they would not accommodate us by bringing an extra umbrella to cover the heat. There was a dude just standing there listening to our needs and said "well, I'd leave if I were you too". Who says that? An incompetent and heartless jerk, that's who! They told us we could sit at the bar and when the sun would go away by 230 pm they'd relocate us to the original table. They also gave us an option of sitting at the lounge... even though we had made reservations for a dining table. The staff is incredibly unkind, uneducated, and unwilling to help. On the plus side, we made reservations as we left to Javier's and had the BEST time ever!!! OSA... more like NO SA... do better. Be better. PS. If you are managing a restaurant at a rooftop, you might want to invest in enough umbrellas for all the tables. read more

Jason the bartender was great, he made us two excellent martinis! Tristan the other bartender was also fantastic and provided top notch service and never came over without a smile on his face. If you stop by order the burger! It was 10/10, so delicious! We sat at the bar and enjoyed a fun evening. I generally avoid writing negative reviews and at least allow for a second or third experience before leaving one. In this case, I will break with precedent. Rooftop dining in the summer should be a treat. We made reservations for this restaurant a week in advance - specifying patio seating. The website indicated there was patio seating available all evening. When we arrived, we were escorted to our table, complete with "reserved" sign, in the bar next to the server station. When we told the hostess that we had reserved patio seating, she said there would be an hour wait for an outdoor table. The discrepancy between our reservation and the table we were given - at a rooftop restaurant - didn't seem to matter to her. Instead of leaving, we gave dinner a shot. We should have left. After several minutes, a server came and took our drink order. When our drinks came out, my wife's wine had something (cork? fly?) floating in it and my iced tea looked like the tea bags had been used 20 times. After a long wait, another server took our food order. The food seemed to take a very long time to come out. Taste and presentation of a sea bass and steak fries were reasonable. We finished and waited 20 minutes for our server to reappear. Our server eventually brought the check. After another long wait another server showed up and settled our tab. The location of this rooftop is nice, but poor execution will likely doom the restaurant's success. Maybe another operator can fix this mess. read more

No sear on the steak, the "chimichurri" was basically just olive oil with a bit of parsley (missing all the other ingredients), and the fries were old and re-fried to serve (you know, when the fries turn hard after a few minutes of cooling down: brittle/dry texture). Rooftop dining with a nice vibe. Server was polite and helpful. The floor felt greasy and a bit slippery (similar to probably every Cheesecake Factory) which wasn't comfortable to walk on. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, entrees and dessert. The brussel sprout appetizer was the star of the entire meal. The steak frites (med rare) was seasoned beautifully but chewed like a boot. Truly disappointing. A restaurant steak should melt in your mouth. Suggest they change out the "bavette" (a $10 word for flap steak) for a ribeye or New York steak. Food is good only that it comes in a very small size portions. The first table we went to is not clean. There's a dirty fork under our table, the couch was messy but good thing they let us transferred to another table. The view is good. It should be ideal for some dates but it's very, very expensive for that very small portions even if it's not an appetizer that you are ordering. The people, even the waiter didn't told us before hand that they will charge for the cake that we brought for my friend's birthday. They charge $30 for cake slicing. read more

Let's start with the positives, the place has a beautiful ambiance that's the perfect vibes for a date or girls night, the servers were very kind and attentive, and the wagyu burger was delicious (the fries were a bit dry though). Unfortunately my party of 3 was not able to get seated after being on the waitlist for 2 hours. We ended up staying at the bar the whole time. I recently heard about this rooftop, apparently the only one in Pasadena and they did not disappoint. I had an amazing time here after work. The view of the mountains is gorgeous. We got here before sunset so we got to enjoy the rooftop during daylight and caught a glimpse of the views during sunset. We loved the raw dishes including the salmon crudo and the tuna tartare. The sauce of the salmon crudo is incredible, maybe with some Asian influence? We had a great time! Highly recommend for a date or just a day out with friends. read more

The bar staff came across as rude and unprofessional; improved training and better understanding of tip culture would go a long way. Food was mid at best, lacking seasoning which is odd for bougie Mexican, including some of the starters that were recommended. My steak came out the wrong doneness and I didn't get a replacement for about 20 min, meaning everyone at my party had already finished their meals. That sucked but then the waitress didn't even comp dessert or try to make up for it in any way. I could have been a regular but I have no interest in going back. read more

This is got to be one of the nicest rooftop views in the LA area! You get the most beautiful views of the San Gabriel mountains as well as downtown Pasadena, including the historic City Hall dome to the west. On a clear day, it truly is hard to beat. The decor and vibes also remind me of the desert (think Scottsdale, Arizona), and having a drink sitting next to the fireplace here on a summer night is sublime to say the least. You get a view of the mountains and beautiful buildings located off of Colorado Blvd. The broccoli salad was tasty. The tacos consist of three fully loaded deliciousness. View, setting and vibe were amazing. However, our service was slow and inattentive. Our group sat at the bar (from 6pm-9m) and we had to flag bartenders down for drinks. The bartenders were not personable and focused on cleaning and restocking glasses rather than serving guests. We ordered a few bottles of wine and the bartender placed unopened bottles in front of us and walked away. I had to get up and ask a server for two wine glasses from behind the bar. So it was our first time visiting. We had a lovely time and I want to be balanced as to what was great and what can use some fine tuning. But let me start off by saying I'm happy this place is in pasadena and I look forward to its potential! The good: 1) the servers from host (who was more than accommodating and lovely) to the waiters (who were patient) to the person serving our wine (who was attentive and had a sense of humor), to the bus boys.... All were lovely and made the experience lovely. 2) the location, set up, ambience all were excellent 3) the burger was great and the wine bottle we got was excellent!. The Parmesan fries were also well done. The 'needs fine tuning': Guys ... we are in so cal.. Great food is our thing ... I would hate if this place became a one time stop or a stop for drinks 'but the food is meh'... there are some items that can be improved upon. 1- all raw food should be fresh and excellent 2-if you say you have a charcuterie and cheese plate... please Make sure it's not something Starbucks or lunchables can make... you are sharing a neighborhood with great cheese places like Agnes... have good tasting fancy cheese .. served with proper fancy crackers (not what I swear was ritz crackers) and nuts and fruit... I felt I was having cheese and crackers in an airplane. 3-if you want to serve stuffed olives... serve them stuffed with something interesting... not velveeta (or at least something that looks like velveeta) 4- have more salads on your menu.. again it's so cal... some of us eat steak and frite and burgers and a lot of us like a fresh salad to munch on that isn't Caesar.... The menu is so 'unimaginative' hotel style... and yes you are in a hotel.. but you are competing with great pasadena restaurants... you can up the ante :) we expect you too. All in all I would come again... the bones of a great place are here... just needs a sprinkling of foodie imagination and creativity. read more
