I ordered butter chicken and it was okay, but I think I would order something else next time. My friend got mutter paneer and that was good. The place was quiet and decorated nicely. We were the only customers at the time. The only bad thing about it is we felt that we needed to talk quietly and it felt awkward. But overall a decent experience. Honestly I think the review could be higher if I tried something else and it was a different day.

Closest to the camera is Mutter Paneer, farthest from the camera is Butter Chicken and rice. And the the right is the garlic naan!

Overall the food was GREAT! I got the Mutter Paneer and my friend got Butter Chicken. Everything was delicious and the garlic Naan was thin but had great flavor. Our two servers seemed like they didn't want to talk to us too much, and when they did it seemed a bit forced. It was quiet when we went and it looks like they have a bar as well. I can imagine it's still fairly quiet when there's more people. Overall very good!!!

The food was amazing. The service was amazing. I ended up bringing a friend and telling even more!

Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Rice, Plain Naan

I ordered from this place on Uber eats after comparing reviews to other Indian food places. My order was done quickly and arrived still hot. I ordered chicken tikka masala, garlic rice, and plain naan. The chicken tikka masala was salty and had no spice. The serving was TINY for the $16.99 price tag. The garlic rice was a bit oily but tasted good. The naan was good. Nothing special. I probably wouldn't order here again because chicken tikka masala is my favorite and one of the main things I order from Indian restaurants and it just wasn't good.

We wanted to have some veg Indian breakfast, and very surprisingly, none of the Indian restaurants in Tempe area served it. So after waiting for some time, we went to Nandini for their buffet at 11 am. To start on a positive note, The food was decent with the right amount of spice levels, neither too spicy nor bland. Naan was freshly made and very soft. They have quite an array of dishes. But I wish they had placed veg and non veg separately. Now coming to the main issue... please look at their cleanliness standards. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. The place screams for some cleanliness; the whole dining area had a weird smell, the cutleries were stained, the floor was not clean, the tea thermal needed a thorough wash, and the restroom sinks too were not properly maintained. Clearly, the hygiene quotient was totally off for this place. And I believe what you see is extended into the kitchen as well. If you are someone who only cares about the food and not about the ambiance or the place, this might be the place. But for me, I am not going back.

Almost gone it was so good!

Had the spicy beef curry. It was great. Always order it as spicy, not as mild, otherwise the flavor will be bland. Great Curry!

My family and I ordered the Punjab Veggie Platter, and everything was delicious, but the pakora was a standout: fresh, hot, and perfectly crispy! My sister and I shared the Tandoori Khazanna, while my mom ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. Every dish was packed with flavor, and the garlic naan was fantastic, with actual pieces of garlic cloves throughout! Honestly, this was the most flavorful Indian food I've had in the Phoenix area. Between the delicious food, the wonderful service, and the obvious care that goes into everything, this place is a gem. I love supporting family-owned restaurants like this, and I can't recommend The Dhaba enough. We'll absolutely be back!

If you are from North Phoenix or West Valley, this is the closet place to get a MEAN dosa. All of the South Indian food is great here. If you come here and expect a good Butter Chicken, lol. Order South Indian food and you won't be disappointed. The food at Chennai Cafe is salty, spicey, and tangy. It's got a good mix of all the flavors that remind me of home. I specifically get the Thali meals. These meals have a bit of every curry that is made that day. Usually split between 2 veg curries, 2 nonveg curries, rice, naan (roti), yogurt, and a dessert. All the curries were excellent. I couldn't eat the entire thali as the quantity of food will put you to sleep, so I ate all the meat stuff with the rice and bread and took all the vegetarian/dessert stuff home. Service is typical Indian restaurant, bunch of dudes standing around. You'll have to flag them down anytime you want something. Don't be shy to do so! That's how you do it at an Indian restaurant. Ambiance is typical no-frills Indian restaurant. Don't expect white glove treatment here. Small dining room area with chairs pretty close to each other. However, know what you are going to order and it'll come out fresh and spicy. Definitely an all time favorite for me in the Valley.

When we arrived the employee told us it was a 15 minute wait and asked for our name and phone number. We looked forward to our meal and so after we gave our information and then left to walk around until we received the call. After about 15 minutes we got a call at 1:37pm that our table was ready. It took us about 3-4 minutes to walk back and we were promptly seated. I was happy to see that there were real plates unlike the paper plates we had to use the last time. I filled my plate and while it was just as good as the last time we were there I quickly remembered how spicy the food is. I sat with my plate of food as I made it through the spicy but otherwise tasty food. Not everything was hot. Some of the food even though presented on heated elements was actually slightly cold. When they cleared the table of our dirty plates I asked them to leave our water cups and the water pitcher which was still 1/3 filled as my mouth was still recovering from the heat/spiciness. Then to my surprise one of the employees approached our table and told us people were waiting and wanting us to leave. I have never felt so insulted by a merchant or dining establishment. We still hadnt drunk our water and I had paid the bill at 2:02pm so it hadnt even been 30 minutes since we were sat for our meal. If you don't mind being rushed during your meal then this is the place for you!

I'm genuinely blown away. There was so much flavor in the pizza, but it was also light. The crust was perfectly crispy and had a good char. The masala mac and cheese was phenomenal. I loved how much depth of flavor there was and it wasn't heavy or greasy. The only thing I would probably not order again was the chai. It wasn't as flavorful as I've had before, it seemed more "milky" but it also wasn't something I regretted getting either. It's just lighter on flavor for my tastes. The place was empty except for one person - I didn't even notice if they were eating - probably waiting for a to-go order or delivery.. Several delivery drivers came in while we were there, so obviously doing well on takeaway orders. Only one guy working the entire front-end of the restaurant on his own, while some older gent sat in the back, on his phone. We ordered 2 dishes only (korma & buttered chicken - forgot pics) and some garlic naan and 2 beers. The server was nice, but he forgot the naan and gave us no plates to eat from - which ended up being small paper-based bowls and (unwrapped) plastic cutlery (fork or spoon) from an open container (which honestly, I can't stand either). The food took forever to come out, and while we were grateful, it was overall bland in its flavor. We have been here before several times and it was generally good - but I think this poor guy was run off his feet trying to get delivery/UberEats/DoorDash orders out and we got left behind. We ate (did not finish it all, so packed a little takeaway box) and left. Would go back again eventually, but probably not for a little while.. I think its good for ASU kids - location, cost effective and variety.

The menu continues to offer some of those dishes. The hubby said he was going to order something different. However he went back to the true and tried; Chana masala, garbanzo beans with onions in a spicy tomato sauce. I ordered from the Mediterranean menu with a chicken shawarma in a pita with French fries. Staff brought us waters and the freshly cooked dishes. The Chana masala comes with yellow rice and naan bread. The wrap comes with fries, ketchup and tzatziki sauce. Nice presentation. I was somewhat disappointed with the wrap. The chicken was a bit dry. The tzatziki sauce did help. I know for our next visit to order the Indian dishes. The Chana masala sauce was fairly spicy; maybe 3 out of 5 stars hotness. Thankfully there's lots of rice with naan to cool your mouth. It seemed like a different cook was working behind the scene. Maybe a new and different meal for next time for both of us. The menu is a bit strange to me -- part Indian food, part Mediterranean like gyros. I ordered a samosa smash which is their name for samosa chaat and unfortunately I really didn't care for it. It was drowning in sauces and no crunchy bits, and quite sweet. They do have beer, wine and cocktails but no cocktail menu, which seems a missed opportunity. I asked if she could do some sort of mango cocktail and it was great! I might go back and try something else but not on a hot day!

Fine, things run out, but it's a pattern, you don't have it. I ordered directly from their website, so I hoped the menu would be up to date. The third-party driver called to offer substitutions, which I appreciate, but it's still disappointing. And to top it off, they forgot the vegetables in my masala padpam. That was the part of the meal I was most excited about! So here I am, having spent around $80 total, with two items unavailable and a key part of another dish missing. The only reason this isn't a lower rating is because I do still really like the food. I just wish I actually got to enjoy what I ordered and yes, this could be resolved by going in so they could tell me before I order that they're out of items.
