Paneer pakore

I frequently tell acquaintances about The Dhaba, as this is by far the best Indian restaurant I have ever tried. I tell them all the same thing: the first time I ate here, I was nearly moved to tears. That's no exaggeration! Perhaps I'm deeply biased, but I swear I can taste the love in their dishes. The restaurant building itself is a little old and worn, but the atmosphere inside is cozy and tasteful. Each table has a white tablecloth, dinnerware placed, and red cloth napkins. The details help elevate the vibe. They've done well with what they have. The service is always top notch. The staff is attentive to their customers' needs, while being genuine and kind. I haven't tested this theory, but based on the way they approach their patrons with such care, I think they would accommodate just about any request! They keep an eye on beverages, get dishes out quickly, and greet everyone with warmth and a smile. I have tried many Indian dishes. Though it is often regarded as less authentic Indian, I will ALWAYS order their kashmiri chicken tikka. This dish is so flavorful and creamy. It's like butter chicken, but better. I don't know what their secret is, but I love it. I also order two servings of garlic naan so I have lots left to take home. This visit, I enjoyed a couple apps, which are pictured. The samosa plate comes with two samosas, which are large (nearly the size of my fist). They are filled with a potato and vegetable mixture, which is deliciously seasoned and accompanied by a lovely sauce with chick peas. I also ordered the paneer pakore. Paneer is a lovely and popular cheese, which is used in many dishes as an alternative to meat. This paneer was fried, though, like an Indian mozzarella stick. The batter is seasoned with Indian spices, giving it a unique flavor. A great thing about The Dhaba's menu is that each item has a wine pairing suggestion to elevate the experience even more. I am committed to trying so much more of what this restaurant has to offer. If you love Indian or your considering branching out and trying it for the first time, this is your new spot. Happy eating!

my go to indian food spot! food is ALWAYS delicious. i order to-go everytime and they tend to be behind on the orders, but it ends up making the order that much more hot and fresh....so i'm always more or less okay with it LOL. this most recent time, i got their chicken korma (a must!) their shrimp saag, an order of garlic naan, and white rice to go w it all. very reasonably priced, nice-sized portions, delicious and flavorful - i'll come back to them everytime i want indian food!

some of the best indian food i've ever had in the states. the inside has a nice laidback energy to it that doesn't feel overwhelming. the staff is incredibly kind and felt very personable! my friends and i have finally found a good spot we'll be frequenting!!

the manager or who so ever he is has been harassing me (female) and my friends around ASU campus. He has been wrongfully accusing me and my friends of stealing from his restaurant instead of taking accountability for messing up my order. he also retaliated against me and my friends by 86ing us all in an effort to not take accountability for giving me the wrong order. and today after a month, it was right outside where I live where i saw him but decided to ignore him and still he continued to roll down his car window while i was wearing a mini dress and said unecessary things and drove off which made me very uncomfortable!

I stopped in for dinner Sunday night and it was very busy! I ordered a mango lassi, garlic naan, and chicken tikka masala. The food was all very good and flavorful! It felt very authentic and homey. The staff were quick to refill my water.

Wednesday evening visit, the food was really good. My party had a couple appetizers(dhaba papi chaat & keema samosas) and a couple curry dishes(chicken and lamb) for our entrees. The food came out too hot to eat, but tasted well once it cooled off. No issues with the service. I'd consider visiting again the next time I'm out in Tempe.

Stopped by last week for the first time in a while and it was just as great as I remember! The restaurant was really busy when we went, but the staff was still very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Maharaja Patiala Tandoori Thali with lamb. The lamb curry was rich and spicy, and came with slices of naan, a helping of biryani topped with tandoori chicken, buttery and well spiced daal, raita, and a desert. I love this menu item, it's huge and comes with a little bit of everything, which makes it perfect for those like me who struggle to just choose one dish. This place get's a lot of attention for a reason, just check out all the awards on the front wall!

Had a great time here before going to see a show at Gammage! We ordered the samosas, lamb korma, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. Everything was delicious. I loved the lamb korma!

As I sat down, they got this papad with Chutneys! The setup got me in the mood to enjoy some chaat. Ordered Papadi Chaat and it was lip smacking ! The Papadi itself was freshly fried, I think. Tasty and I could feel the freshness. Dahi bhalle was equally delicious. Best part was - curd wasn't sweet! A rarity! Enjoyed a lot. Will visit again for proper lunch / dinner food. Servers were friendly and though it was taking a while for food to be served, I enjoyed the ambience of the place.

The staff are friendly and generous. I enjoy the dinnerware and the vibe of the place. The food was hot and attention was paid to the freshness. I appreciate the pride this restaurant takes in telling a story with their food. I have dined here with people of different backgrounds and there has always been something for everyone to enjoy. I will continue returning for as long as they provide this experience.

Amazing Indian food! Join us here a real Indian taste with spice level from 0 to 10. I would stay between 7 and 10. Came here for lunch with clients, came for dinner with friends and family. Try their combo naan with curry goat. Yum! yum! yum!

Dhaba definitely deserves a special mention -- it's easily my second favorite Indian restaurant, and honestly, it could give any top spot a run for its money! From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with that familiar aroma of authentic Indian spices that instantly makes you hungry and excited for what's to come. The atmosphere at Dhaba is cozy and welcoming, with a great mix of traditional touches and modern comfort. The staff are absolutely wonderful -- polite, attentive, and always ready to recommend something new or make sure your meal is just right. They truly go above and beyond to make every visit enjoyable. Now, the food -- incredible! I tried the chicken tikka, and it was phenomenal -- tender, flavorful, and perfectly charred with that smoky tandoori goodness. The sauce had just the right amount of spice and creaminess, and you can tell the chef knows exactly what they're doing. Every bite had that balance of flavor that makes you slow down just to savor it. I've also tried a few other dishes here, and each one has been consistently delicious and beautifully presented. Everything tastes fresh, authentic, and made with care. While I do have another favorite spot that I visit more often, Dhaba is without a doubt a close second -- a gem of a restaurant that I'll happily keep coming back to. Fantastic food, excellent service, and a place that truly captures the spirit of Indian cuisine. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves great food and warm hospitality!

Crackers with sauces. They are not always the same. I prefer the ones with the pods. They are great flavor. Both are good.

Tempe housed my go to Indian buffet on Rural and university for over 20 years and it closed. The other night picking up a marketplace find I passed this restaurant. I live in central Phoenix and pulled up my favorite app on the way home Yelp popped the restaurant in the app great reviews. Long work day Wednesday so stopped for dinner mind blown. Yup I'll be back for lunch. Saturday head for Lunch buffet the place is packed and the food was amazing. Nothing from the buffet was bad. Again if you see the ethnic culture eating there usually a good sign your taste buds are about to get very happy with your choice. My new Indian food spot & yes I drive 20 minutes to get here. We'd actually sought out a different Indian restaurant first, but it looked kind of shady--really dark on the inside and just didn't feel right. I was already feeling perplexed because I'd tried calling them to see if they could do a vegan and gluten-free meal, but their answering machine said they wouldn't even answer over the weekend! I wasn't feeling confident at all. So, we headed over to India's Flame in Tempe instead after seeing they had really good reviews. It wasn't far from our original pick, and I'm so glad we got in the car and went. The atmosphere was night and day--nice, bright, and welcoming. The staff was incredibly helpful and super polite; we didn't even have to worry about running out of water. Our meals arrived right on time and everything was amazing. The Food: * I had the Daal and my friend ordered the Chana Masala. * We were both so happy that we could customize the spice level. My friend likes her food super spicy (it's usually hard for her to find a place that actually makes it hot enough), but they totally hit the spot for her. * Her spice level is way higher than mine so I couldn't even taste hers, but she was delighted! It turned out to be a great experience. We will definitely go back again when we're back in Tempe!
