A buffet setup with Indian vegetarian and vegan dishes, including boiled eggs, fried snacks, and multiple curries in stainless steel trays.
    Sundeep I.

Tried udupi buffet on Sunday. Honestly not many tables were filled. It's all vegetarian food with limited choices compared to other restaurants. But food was pretty decent for whatever the choices they offered. Their punugulu, pongal, puri, naan, paneer curries and vermicelli desserts were good. Rest are just ok. Dosas are included that are made fresh but unfortunately they didn't taste good although looked perfect. Could be just a wrong batch. Service is fine no issues. But ambiance need to be improved. Lacks liveliness. Priced at $13.99 for a buffet, it's not bad at all but could improve a bit more.

We were in the mood for some Indian Food and this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the Kurma and a garlic naan. The main dish was spiced to perfection, nice kick, mature flavor, good consistency. The garlic naan was phenomenal, ended up ordering another batch because I could not put it down. We did dine-in and the service was good. There were a number of very hostile delivery app drivers during our visit which was not cool, I don't blame the restaurant at all! This isn't fast food, quality takes time. Very much a hole in the wall and that's the vibe. We will be back!

This place is definitely a hole in the wall. You've got an extremely dirty exterior, the interior also has broken chairs, unused large appliances, and a bunch of cleaning supplies on one of the tables. Also note that that their prices on their official website are incorrect. Their actual prices are way more expensive when you actually go to the store. Note that they have a buffet but we have no idea when it happens as it's not mentioned on their website nor their in-store menu. Their menu is some hastily written basic Excel table of items that have no pictures. Most of their bigger stuff costs $15 so I got a coconut rice dish while my crony ordered some curry and a naan. Our whole order came out to $47 (includes tax and tip). The food itself is plentiful and of slightly above average quality.

Worst Buffet - A partially finished Indian vegetarian meal with rice, curry, and dessert on a speckled table, with utensils and a coffee mug nearby.

Serious health concern. Their items in the buffet are spoiled. The potato was smelling bad, the chutney was bad, dosa was sour as if batter was like 2 weeks old. Look at the coffee color, 97% milk with 2 drops of coffee semi warm. This is the 3rd time I complained them about the spoiled food. This place should be banned by food regulators. (...and this would be my last visit here) P.S: "urban district" offers amazing buffet fresh made 25+ items for just 16$ I did not want to , but you ll be served. Watch out .

We came for the buffet on Saturday and the food was quite good. Some things I think could be improved: - label the food. We weren't sure what the buffet items were and I hate to waste by taking something I won't like. Four items were labeled but no others were. - food delivery - we learned that a dosa comes with the buffet but it arrived at our table after we had finished eating. - ambiance - there is none at all - it's a large room with tables. Would I come back? Probably yes because I really do enjoy this food.

I live very close to Udupi and this place has been on my list to try for a while. We hoped to go for the lunch buffet so we went during the lunch hours. Unfortunately they didn't have the buffet when we went. Overall, there are some really great flavors going on and if you're vegetarian or vegan this is a definite must try. Pros: - large enough portions to share - fantastic flavors - food was prepared quickly and freshly - we read online that the Chili Gobi dish is a good choice so we ordered that. Indeed it was! The cauliflower in that dish came out with a nice crunchy texture and was spicy yet slight sweetness of the sauce. - samosas were solid - garlic paratha is like naan but not as fluffy/thick. More like a cross between naan & tortilla. It was filled with a lot of garlic and that's a major plus for me. - coconut rice is just as it sounds, very coconut-y. Cons: - lunch buffet is only Friday, Saturday, & Sunday so plan accordingly. - we spent a good amount of time looking over the menu since there are a lot of choices. When we placed our order the waitress told us 2 out of 3 things we wanted to get were not available. This was not a problem but it would be good to tell us when we arrived if they can't make certain dishes.

I was in Scottsdale hanging out with friends and craving Indian & 1 of them recommended Udupi Restaurant which was 10 minutes away. I placed an order online & drove over to pick it up. Vegetable samosas - which I didn't get & I'm super pissed. Instead I got something that looks like chickpeas with tomatoes and onions. It was bland & I'm super pissed about my damn samosas Chilli gobi Cauliflower with sautéed with garlic, ginger chili and soy sauce. This is probably my favorite appetizer to get from Indian restaurants & it was definitely underwhelming. I've definitely had better. Vegetable vindaloo Chickpeas and mixed vegetables in a silky curry sauce. It was ok I've definitely had better. I'm definitely never taking food advice from this friend again. $35 plus tip wasted. smh With my order screwed up & subpar food I definitely won't be back.

We went there today, Easter Sunday 2026, and it was all closed up out of business! Too bad because we really enjoyed the vegan food.

Worst meal we've had. Service slow and poor. So sorry because it used to have great vegetarian food with vegan options. No more.

We'd actually sought out a different Indian restaurant first, but it looked kind of shady--really dark on the inside and just didn't feel right. I was already feeling perplexed because I'd tried calling them to see if they could do a vegan and gluten-free meal, but their answering machine said they wouldn't even answer over the weekend! I wasn't feeling confident at all. So, we headed over to India's Flame in Tempe instead after seeing they had really good reviews. It wasn't far from our original pick, and I'm so glad we got in the car and went. The atmosphere was night and day--nice, bright, and welcoming. The staff was incredibly helpful and super polite; we didn't even have to worry about running out of water. Our meals arrived right on time and everything was amazing. The Food: * I had the Daal and my friend ordered the Chana Masala. * We were both so happy that we could customize the spice level. My friend likes her food super spicy (it's usually hard for her to find a place that actually makes it hot enough), but they totally hit the spot for her. * Her spice level is way higher than mine so I couldn't even taste hers, but she was delighted! It turned out to be a great experience. We will definitely go back again when we're back in Tempe!

One of our friends is from India and when my husband and I lived in NYC, we ate Indian food frequently. We wasted over $100 on the worst Indian food we ever tried. We threw it out and went to Uncle Sal's, our go-to emergency spot. It was Saturday night so there was no excuse for serving such horrible food. Everything looked and tasted the same. We couldn't tell the difference between cauliflower, potatoes, eggplant or chicken. Mysterious, overcooked chunks were swimming in oil. Tomato based sauce tasted the same as butter sauce and tandoori flavors. BaganBartha looked like green vomit. Other dishes looked like diarrhea that had sat on a steam table since their lunch buffet. There were no discernable nuts or raisins in the Biyrani. We asked for Mango chutney but they couldn't find it. We asked for mild to medium heat level but it was as hot as the hottest Vindaloo we've ever eaten. To top things off, they asked us to call back in 5 minutes to order because the cash register was broken. Seriously? On a Saturday night? We should not have called back and we won't be back. ICK. We're glad we went elsewhere or we might have gotten ill. Spare yourselves.
