A bit of a hidden place but very worth finding for the food, drinks, and vibe. Went with a few people on a weeknight and great, chill time. We love to work our way around a new menu, so divided (and conquered) some of the recommendations from our server. I had the Beef on Weck, which was top notch from the savory au jus to the deliciously toasted bun. One cohort had the Hot AF Chicken Sandwich, and confirmed the AF part. I rarely see this guy sweat at heat, but he was "WHoooo"'in the whole way. Also getting thumbs up from the table were the Bees Knees (much milder sammy) and the Mushroom Po'Boy. I have been to Original Gravity twice, most recently on Mother's Day. I must say this place is a great addition to the neighborhood and the renovation to this once outdated stucco strip mall is nothing short of amazing. The building is modern and eclectic with some very creative design features. The atmosphere is both fun and laid-back. It is very comfortable inside and out and exceptionally decorated. The music is a good mix /wide variety of favorite. Inside the bar/amidst conversation you'll hear a bartender pop a bottle of champagne or prosecco and the place erupts in cheer and clapping for a few seconds... Totally fun! The patios are amazing. The front patio is completely shaded and a nice and quiet place to have conversation and/or a romantic date. It is also DOG FRIENDLY!!!!The back patio is comfortable with nice cushioned seating and there is low music piping through both patios. Food-wise, I have had the grilled lemon and roasted garlic tahini dip, the OG fries, the house salad with Noble Bread croutons, and the caprese sandwich with buffalo mozzarella on Noble bread, and also the grilled cheese on focaccia and gazpacho tomato soup (Mother's Day special). As far as drinks, I tried the fire and ice wine cocktail which comes with a scoop of lemon sorbet and luxardo cherries; very tasty! I've tried their wine and the drafts beers and it was all great. They have around 20 beers on tap and I was able to try Cali Cream Ale on nitro for the first time! Everything is amazing ---this place is going to be a huge success. About the only thing I can suggest for this place is a few more bike racks as currently there is only a bike rack built for 2 bikes out front. What a disappointment. We arrived around 9 and by the way the food came out, you'd think the kitchen had been closed for awhile. They were out of french fries, so we opted for the sweet potato fries and they were literally pieces of burnt ash. Completely inedible and the waitress agreed. The burgers tasted good, but could've been better Had they cooked them medium rare which is what we asked for. Also, The service was super slow despite that there was only 2 other ppl at the bar. So this was one of the few restaurants we found that took reservations on a Saturday night and we were so thoroughly impressed from the start. The decor was perfect and it only got better. A Women owned restaurant with an entrepreneurial spirit that is reflective in their leadership attitudes. Chef Derek has made the food match the vibe and love these women bring to the neighborhood. Apparently this place doesn't like money, either that, or they just don't like brown people. My fiancé and I walked in and the joint was dead with only 2 customers finishing up their meals. There was a man behind the bar trying to look busy. I waited for him to look up, and when he did he said absolutely nothing, and went back to whatever he was doing. I asked, "Hi, should we just sit anywhere?" He didn't answer my question, so I repeated, "Hello, do we just sit anywhere?" He looked up at me with pure disdain, shrugged his shoulders, and said "Sure." No thank you! We left, drove down the street, and found Cock N' Tails and was treated to exceptional food and service. Went yesterday for the first time! So happy this place is in my Hood!! Was met with a warm welcome through the door!! Natasha was so nice in helping me choose my 4 beers for my tasting board! I really liked this place, but the happy hour is a moving target. When I first came, I was told happy hour wine is "any of the wines on tap." On my next visit I ordered the house Chardonnay that is listed *on the menu* as a wine on tap. I was given something else because the menu is wrong and they don't have a chard on tap. (This is per the server who told me on my next visit there is a chard on tap because nothing is clear with this place.) The server was nice about it and corrected the bill. At least there's that. The next time I came, based on what I'd been told before, I ordered the rosé on tap and specifically pointed at it and asked, "Is this the wine on happy hour?" The woman said, "Yes" and tells me what grape it is. It turns out every wine is on happy hour and pointing at the menu and asking questions means nothing. I was given some other wine that was twice the price. They refused to fix it and behaved as if it was my mistake. Not only was I given a different wine from what I ordered, contrary to the previous "any wine on tap," this time I was told the rosé on tap is never on special - and given a bit of attitude about it. The menu is too complicated because no one can offer the correct answer. Worst still, the server with the attitude admitted that some of the other servers were confused and probably did give me the wrong information, but since I was the victim of incompetence twice, it must be my fault. Ironically, he also told me the menu was misprinted when I asked how the hummus plate could be made vegan. The real cherry on the rotten sundae, the server told us "Good luck next time" as we were leaving. So to patronize your business, I need luck in hoping the server I get will give me the right information? Seriously? I don't want to be overcharged, patronized, and insulted because your company can't get itself together. It's a shame because I really did like it before the constant parade of ridiculousness. read more

Hadnt been there since it was owned by two sisters. While the menu is basically the same, the food & drinks are not. We were there on a Sun afternoon and it was relatively empty. Sat outside at a table that was not cleaned. The service was poor, although there were hardly any other customers there. The drinks were overpriced for what we ordered. I ordered the tacos and my partner ordered a burger and fries. We never got utensils to use. If we waited for the server to get them our food would have been cold. Frankly Im amazed this place is still in business. We always try to dine at restaurants that are not chains. Unfortunately we will not be back to Original Gravity. read more

Came in last night with a buddy to grab a couple of craft brews. It's a pretty small restaurant, and the bar takes up the majority of it. They have 2 big TV's for sports right at the bar. They had about 15 beers on tap and they were pretty impressive. I tried the Saison and a local IPA. Both very good. My buddy and I ended up splitting the chicken sandwich and this sandwich was delicious. Very crispy chicken, and it comes with a hot honey on it which totally makes the sandwich. The bun was nice and soft and the fries were crispy and on point. The sauce that they serve the fries with was incredible. I would recommend checking this place out! read more

We were doing our New Bar Friday exploration. We came to Original Gravity which was a lovely surprise. We started with Happy Hour, including a $5 Cabernet Savignon, $5 beer, and $6 we'll drinks. For Happy Hour eats we had carnitas tacos (YUM!), IPA glazed pork belly (YUM!) and chicken fried cauliflower. After HH, we continued with the CocoRita (YUM!) and the Bee's Knees chicken sandwich (YUM!). To make a good restaurant even better, it's a sister-owned restaurant. I found the cocktails to be so so. I heard the expresso martini was very popular. I found it to be to coffee tasting and not much alcohol. The sangria is a good choice. The pretzel appetizer is good, but nothing real special. The honey chicken sandwich was excellent. Atmosphere wise, there isn't much to see. There was a very annoying siren type sound that would not quit. It may have been a bad air conditioner unit but whatever it was, it put a damper on the evening. Original Gravity is a cute little neighborhood bar joint located in the heart of the Phoenix valley. I rather enjoy the art around the bar and the color scheme worked; grey and orange, I dig it! I came with a friend and sat at the bar. The menu seemed pretty interesting as I wanted to order a plethora of food. We started with the Chop Salad; which I thought was pretty tame and basic. The chicken was in chunks of cube in different sizes and was quite dry. The dressing was very light and I was barely able to taste it. We proceeded with getting the sliders; we ordered the Hawaiian, Korean, and Italian. These were definitely the stars of the evening! Love the spam and pineapple combo on the Hawaiian slider; the salty spam and sweetness of the pineapple played well for my palates. My second in line was the Korean slider which came with kimchi and bacon. Yeah bacon and kimchi works wonderfully and who'd ever thought! My least favorite was the Italian since I thought the meatball was pretty dry. We ended with the Pork Belly Cheesy Fries. This didn't work for me either since the pork belly was in diced chunks, but was sparingly sprinkled on the fries. The cheese was cheesy for sure, but I would want my fries a tad bit more crispy. In the end, OG is still pretty new and the service was spot on. They have a lot of things happening and a nice patio coming along. So now they have been open for 2 weeks, and I've been back several times and tried several menu items. I must say, from experience new restaurants tend to disappoint me. With Original Gravity this is not the case. Food has been beyond delicious, to the point I am addicted to a few items on their menu. I crave it all day and anxiously wait for them to open. The soft pretzels with cheese dipping sauce. I don't know what is in the cheese sauce, but I'm thinking it's magic, sprinkled with fairy dust and amazingness. There is no other logical explanation to how something can be so delicious. The BLT is the best I've ever had. And I don't even like bacon! The OG chopped salad makes me want to eat healthy. Which I never do! Their wine and beer selection is in point and gives so many options even for the most picky drinker. There are so many other great menu items I can't wait to try them all.
