    Steamed Veggie Dumplings
    Michelle E.

On the scale of takeout Chinese restaurants, Oriental Kitchen ranks pretty high! You're not getting gourmet food by any means but you get large portion sizes for the price, the wait isn't long, and the dishes are tasty! Oriental Kitchen is my go-to for ordering Chinese takeout on Christmas Eve... this was my third year in a row and I've had a great experience each time! I called to place my order around 6:45 pm and they had it ready for pick up in 25 minutes. FAST FACTS: * Parking: located in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking available in the lot in front of the building * Online ordering: available for pickup at the restaurant * Delivery: available through third-party (Grubhub, DoorDash, and Favor) * Closed on Mondays SERVICE - I've only ever ordered takeout but the workers taking my order over the phone and at the counter when I arrive have always been pleasant! PRICING - The total for a Triple Crown, General Tso's chicken, and an order of steamed veggie dumplings was $39.51 after tax. The portion sizes are huge so the pricing is very reasonable! STEAMED VEGGIE DUMPLING (7/10) - You get 8 dumplings in the order and it comes on a small bed of shredded cabbage with soy sauce for dipping. The dumplings were cooked well and were tasty... I'd order them again as a non-fried appetizer option! TRIPLE CROWN (8/10) - This is a great deal for what you get! It includes chicken, beef, and shrimp with assorted vegetables (zucchini, carrots, broccoli, and mushrooms) in a savory sauce with your choice of steamed, brown, or fried rice. The proteins were all cooked well and the veggies had a great texture... sometimes veggies in Chinese food are overcooked and mushy but these had a slight crunch to them which I loved! My only complaint is that there is a LOT of sauce so you have to fish out the meat and veggies. GENERAL TSO'S CHICKEN (7/10) - This is a sweeter General Tso's.... there's no spice to it. The sauce coats the chicken pieces well but they aren't overly crispy and it would be better if it came with broccoli or another vegetable. But, it's a massive amount of chicken and also comes with your choice of steamed, brown, or fried rice. Oriental Kitchen is a great local option for Chinese takeout without breaking the bank! I'll continue to order for Christmas Eve in the years to come and hope the standard stays high for their food!

The sesame steak is top notch. Best I've had it TX, the hot & sour soup is also amazing. I'd recommend for take out rather than dining in.

Overall we had a good experience here, and for what it is its good. Its your classic fast, affordable, tasty, down-and-dirty Chinese food restaurant! It features all the hits (general tsao chicken, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef) and had my favorite- Singapore noodles! Service was excellent- the gentleman working the counter was super nice and attentive. The ambiance is what you'd expect for this type of restaurant- this has almost a street food turned brick and mortar vibe. The food was tasty, came out quick, and came out hot! Food quality is also what you'd expect- very greasy, high sugar, but tasty- and the portions are BIG. (We came for dinner though I think their lunch is smaller portions)

I went there just to get something to drink while waiting for something next door. I ended up getting an appetizer and a meal to go as well. The employee that helped us was really good. We got the appetizer really quick . I ordered the 8 crab rolls. They were delicious!!! Nice and crispy and fresh out of the fryer. While looking at the menu I decided to get the triple crown with the fried rice. It is enough for at least two meals. It is loaded with beef chicken and shrimp and zucchini broccoli mushrooms and carrots. Delicious. I think the price of $13.5 was good especially since I have two meals. This place is in the corner of a strip mall. I didn't expect it to be so good. They offer lunch specials wed-Fri for $10. I will definitely go check those out as well. If you are in Pflugerville and want some Chinese food check this place out.

Let's just say it's not a restaurant and more take away place... yes they have large seating area which is half filled with boxes. We went there and were seated and sat there for 15 minutes, no one came to take order. Then food was served in to go containers. The old guy who did not speak English was trying to encourage my kid to eat his food. Which was nice probably if he wasn't pointing and TOUCHING his food. He also took our order and obviously there was lot of miscommunication involved. I requested for spicy sauce and he gave frozen prepacked sauce. The food was okey though. There were lot of takeouts from that place so Probably good to get food and eat somewhere else.

    Basil fish - amazing

Ordered 4 dishes yesterday! Everything was enjoyed by everyone! The eggplant and garlic sauce is my youngest child's favorite and he could eat it every day. We got sautéed green beans with pork. The meat was plentiful, very tender, and the green beans had a great wok charred flavor. We also tried the sha cha beef, which was tender in flavorful. The sauce on this one is a little salty so it is a great one to eat with white rice. The star of the show was the basil fish. Even though it indicates that this is a spicy dish, it was not and enjoyed by both of my children as well. I would 100% get this every time we order from Oriental Kitchen. The food was ready when promised, and even after a 15 minute drive home it was piping hot. It was a generous quantity for a great price! This is now going to become our go to local Chinese restaurant. P.S. The only Issue I had was we wanted barbecue pork with noodles but the person on the phone said that the only way to get barbecue pork is with fried rice which we did not want. No problem, the food we ordered was delicious but it would've been nice to get the bbq pork we wanted with the noodles we wanted. Maybe they were running low. I will happily return to try more of their dishes!

THIS IS WHAT SHA CHA CHICKEN IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE.
    Ashley M.

The service was was fine (called it in) and fast but the orange chicken tasted like general tso chicken and my Sha cha was really chicken with mixed vegetables and wasn't spicy at all. The servings they give are huge which was great; but huge and WRONG. Thankfully it still tasted good; just not what we ordered/expected. The egg drop soup was good and so were the egg rolls. I'd go back and try a different dish and maybe walk in to order and show a picture of what I want. **Paige, thanks for that information (I'll add another star; because I honestly had no clue) every time I've had that dish at other establishments the only vegetables included were white/green onions and was spicy. I was just looking for something spicy and full of onions lol. None the less it was still delicious.

    Pork fried rice

Underwhelming is the keyword for this place. The pork fried rice was the best dish. The general tso's chicken didn't taste like any I have ever had. I wouldn't be able to describe its flavor profile, and would just call it a red-brown sauce. I haven't had Chinese donuts since I was a child and they were alright. Maybe nostalgia ruined them for me, as things seem to be better in memory. I have no complaints about the egg drop soup. It was familiar and comforting. The service was excellent. I don't think I would come here again, but I would definitely encourage you to try it and see if I just ordered the wrong dish.

I had their shrimp egg foo young and the shrimp fried rice, both were very delicious and they have the dark gravy/sauce which is my favorite. Highly recommended restaurant

Do you have hot and sour soup and also steam rice to go?

Yes. Both are available to go.

Are there gluten free options or menu?

Yes, many, since most dishes are rice-based instead of wheat. I would double-check with the server on what they use for the coatings on deep-fried dishes, however.

The food was fast and tasted good. I got the shrimp pho (not vegan) and my partner got the vegan pho with "raw" tofu (it said it came fried and we both hate deepfried tofu, so we appreciate they did that for us ). The waitress checked on us several times. That said, I would not come back here. The noise level was horrendous. The constant scraping of metal chairs on concrete and the echo chamber the tall blank walls and bare metal ceiling causes was equivalent to nails on a chalkboard for the whole meal. Additionally , the music volume was SO high. I think someone went up to talk to them About the noise and the employee just looked like he didn't care , wouldn't look at her and just kept shrugging and making a "what can you do face". I almost asked them to turn the music down too but instead wore noise canceling AirPods my whole meal :-/ it was not an enjoyable experience to be honest and canceled out the other positives i mentioned. Hope they do something about the scrapping chairs in the future. Idk-put rubber caps on them all and have extra to replace them as they inevitably fall off???

This young black girl whose name started with an A helped me (I forgot her name, I apologize). It was my first time there so I was unsure what to get. She provided me with samples of the different chicken salads- which didn't help because they were all delicious! I tried the southern, the classic, and bacon ranch. All sooooo good. I ended up getting the melt on a croissant with the chicken bacon ranch salad. Mac and cheese, chips and an extra scoop on the side. $17. The location is perfect and it is very nice on the inside. Whatever they are paying the workers they should increase it because they were all wonderful and kind. I will definitely be back.

I ordered the Classic Carol and their newest seasonal flavor, the Greek Goddess. I added a side of their broccoli salad as well. The chicken salads were pretty good and packed a TON of flavor. That first bite was surprising and almost overwhelming. I had expected to taste the crunch of the celery in the classic, but couldn't even tell that any was in there. The Greek also did not seem to have the feta flavor that I was hoping for. The broccoli salad is sweet and I prefer savory, so I let somebody else in my family enjoy that side. All in all, the flavor is there and it's a solid option if you're craving some chicken salad.
