That' was actually one of our favorite cafes. I understand due to Covid many things changed. But they were our favorite place because of their fresh and great food. We were disappointed!!! The service was super fast as well as they served food super fast too. But I wonder why the food was served too fast??? I want my food fresh, not refried or redeepftied. That's exactly how my fried liver tasted, as they seeped the fried liver again in the frier to make it hot. I didn't like it at all. The portions got smaller. This place just went straight DOWN hill. I used to eat here everyday and now im just so upset with the quality of the food. From the shepherd salad to the cheese cigars to the lamb shank. I believe the chefs have changed that would explain this. read more

Fabulous food and service. Restaurant is spotless, as is the bathrooms. Considering the fact that the cost of food is skyrocketing, as is the cost of staff, prices are reasonable and portions are adequate. On the negative side, parking is on the street, and no booths. The Opera Cafe Lounge is a large beautifully decorated restaurant in Sheepshead Bay, across the street from the water. We've been here 2 other times over the last few years but we took a gamble today since it is Mother's Day and we didn't have a reservation. We had backed out of the planned dinner with my parents and my brother's family in Bensonhurst the night before because of the torrential rainstorm. The staff were seating people outdoors if you didn't have a reservation. I asked how long for indoor seating and a guy (who is he?!) overrode the hostess and told me " 1 day". I told the hostess we were fine to wait for outdoor seating. The staff really did try to accommodate everyone and we were seated outdoors in good time. You can see the wait staff working really hard and bustling about like busy bees with an occasional loud explosion of plates or cups breaking. Even so, our food came out timely, asides from a bit of wait for utensils and menus. The food is absolutely delicious here starting with the warm complimentary bread. When a busboy saw that we devoured our bread, he passed by with a fresh basket and offered us more. Even the simple dishes that we ordered like the chicken wrap with hummus, lettuce and tomato were excellent. The grilled chicken was warm, tender and fresh. The wrap was warm, soft and freshly made, and stretchy in texture. One of my daughters wanted the penne vodka she had from several years ago here. Yes she remembered it because it was THAT good. My husband got a lamb stew type of dish. The sauce was delicious and the lamb was tender. We also ordered a potato flatbread dish (potato goulash or something) and it was great. The flatbread is the same that was used in the chicken wrap, and the filling had nice seasoning. The buffalo wings were meaty but the skin was a bit soggy this time. Even the French fries hat came with the meals were delicious. It was well seasoned and had really good flavor. It has that orange-y color. One thing I really didn't like- and I am giving the benefit of the doubt that this doesn't usually happen- a busboy brought out our flatbread, it was the wrong one. We didn't know since this is the first time we had this dish. My husband picked up a slice but our waiter saw it from afar and quickly stopped us and said he didn't think that was ours. I confirmed that we didn't order the meat flatbread. He picked up the dish but hesitated for a moment with a frown, thinking about what to do. Then he proceeded to bring the dish to the next table (even though we touched a slice of it!) OK that was gross. Another time, our waiter rushed over from afar to stop a busboy from pouring regular water into my Dad's Pellegrino. Although our waiter had a scowl on his face the entire time, and looked stressed and impatient, he amused me with his ability to remember our orders from memory and stop busboys in the midst of their actions from ruining the orders. He also checked in on us which we appreciated given how busy they were. I imagine on non-holidays these mishaps wouldn't happen, I hope. read more

This is my second visit to opera and I, once again, have nothing but positive things to say. My husband and I came in with our 2 year old daughter for dinner. As soon as we sat, I immediately ordered her food and let the wait know it was for her. He nodded and said he would bring it out quickly and they did. I appreciate a restaurant that understands the kids plates gotta come out quickly. She loved her chicken tenders and fries (and so did we). My coconut martini and my husbands lychee martini were PERFECT! He had wings and I had kebab and they were perfect. We will be back.. again lol read more

This review is for breakfast on Veterans day. Its actually 3.5 stars. We here on Monday morning around 9ish for breakfast. They had some interesting Mediterranean wrap options. So we asked the server if wraps were available for breakfast. He politely said yes, so we ordered 2 wraps. But it took almost 30mins for wraps to come. So, that was not pleasant. We were starving and would have appreciated a heads up that we had to wait so long for wraps. The food tastes fine. Wraps came with a side of fries which was delicious. We ordered Adna wrap and Opera Special wrap. Adna wrap comes with lamb. The meat was tender and well marinated and cooked. Special wrap came with chicken which was cooked well and hummus. Although, hummus was at the bottom of the wrap and not mixed with chicken. The portions were decent, not too much. The ambience and decor is interesting with middle eastern touch. Lamps looked pretty. I'm sure it's a good place for evening date nights. They have private parking located behind the restaurant. The views are pleasant. So overall, except for slow service I have no complaints. Would recommend for date night. Restuarant does look upscale and priced accordingly. read more

I love the food, I really do, but I don't understand how they can be so expensive and try to cheat people out with small portions. The 2 salami pieces on our breakfast platter was paper thin. The omlette looked like they cracked one egg and stretched it too far. They charge for the cheese on the kumpir, which is odd because it's supposed to have cheese, it's like charging me for the potato also. It was not really worth $20 for it. The service is exceptional and I am so impressed. I don't remember ever having such great service like this. They are very attentive but not in a way that would feel bothersome. This place is absolutely one of the best top Turkish restaurants in the city. They have great food and customer service. I recommend every dish on the menu. The opera salad with grilled chicken or salmon or the avocado salad. The meatball with bulgur is my favorite dish. The kanzandibi aka Turkish custard is my favorite dessert. I also recommend the Turkish tea and coffee. The price is reason for the excellent food and service. I visit this place once or twice every two weeks this summer. They also have a Seats outside to enjoy the sheepshead bay strip. If your seating outside in the rain they have a roof top and in cold seasons they have the outside heater. They also give blankets when is cold. If you're in Brooklyn visit this beautiful place it's totally worth it. read more

I only gave them 2 stars because I actually laughed when I got my meal. My family took me there for brunch and while the menu really didn't excite me, I ordered a sausage omelet. OMG the "sausages" were hot dogs, I had to laugh. The food was atrocious, they do get points for attentive service but come on really? You think hot dogs belong in an omelet? I'm only sorry I didn't take a picture. My advice is ASK exactly what's in the meal before you order. read more

Opera constantly delivers delicious food. I've never had a dish that I did not like, both dine-in and delivery, food is always fresh and cooked well. A lot of vegetarian options as well. I love this place for the ambiance. I remember when it took up only one store front and now it has expanded to take up almost the whole block. It is always a chill atmosphere sitting at an outdoor table in the evening in the summertime. This is when the business peaks too. I love the opera wrap because it comes with a good amount of meat and fries so it is filling as well. I don't usually get other things on the menu besides salads because of the prices. I have tried the shish kebab and highly recommend. The kunefe dessert, which is typically served in a lot of the restaurants by the bay, is so delicious. If you've never tried it, don't be afraid to order it once. If you like baklava, this is like that on steroids and should be shared with at least one other person. read more

My girl and I came here rather impromptu and were plesantly surprised by how lavish the interior decor was. However - we were put off at the beginning by two men who came in initially and moved us aside to seat themselves at the tables (I am assuming they were native to the restaurant). We ordered the yogurt dip which was fabulous and rich in taste however, I thought they would've given naan or crackers with it, but I assume the bread they gave after was to be used interchangably with the butter, too. My girl ordered the shrimp scampolini and I ordered the lamb chops (medium well). I felt my lamb chops were more well-done than medium well so it felt rather tougher than I would like. The rice was delicious, perfectly seasoned and salted. The flavors were dynamic and I felt this was a bit mediocre for lamb chops. We both ordered dessert, and commenting on my dessert, I loved the molten chocolate mousse cake. The ice cream to cake ratio was perfect. Sadly, due to how filled up I was, I could not comment more on it. However, it took our waiter 1hr+ to bring the check to us. Mind you, it was a busy night with about five birthdays going on (yes every time we heard the jingle we took a mental shot, haha). But - we didn't appreciate the long wait to pay our bill albeit she & I had great conversations during that period to make time pass sooner. We came in at 7:30 PM, to leave at 10:45 PM... Would I come back? Maybe if I was in the area, but I would try something new since this area is new to me. read more

Ordered a bunch of stuff from here for lunch the other day. The chicken and lamb was very delicious and tasted moist. The bread they give you is freshly baked and is always good. I try to stay away because I could hit the whole bag! Hummus and salad were on point as well. You can't go wrong here. Delivery was on time too. They also had these rolls filled with cheese that were good. I have no idea what they were called but very good. Finally, the salmon was also spot on. It was very fresh and moist.
