This place was fantastic. Beautiful restaurant, very spacious. I came on a Friday midday and it wasn't crowded and very comfortable. I had the meze platter, cigar rolls, and calamari. All of the dishes were delicious.

Overall, my impression of the restaurant was neutral, but there were some pleasant moments. We were greeted very well upon arrival, and the waiter, who spoke Turkish, was polite and created a good first impression. Of the dishes we ordered, I liked the Shepherd salad the most it was fresh, tasty, and well-balanced. During the service, we sometimes had to call the waiter, but the atmosphere was generally calm. The Kazandibi dessert, unfortunately, didn't quite meet expectations it was burnt and had a burnt smell. I've tried this dessert in many places and know what it should usually taste like. I hope that the quality of the dishes will improve in the future, as the restaurant does have some good points.

arrived fairly late, an hr before they closed but luckily kitchen was still open. the waiter was really great and I'm sure he was exhausted but still provided great service to us. The mixed meze was so delish! We also ordered a mix grilled platter but forgot to take a pic of it. The meat was so tender and great. Overall had a pleasant time and definitely returning (at a decent time) to try their other plates.

Great food, service and for the price you can't beat an amazing dinner. Came here with my best friend to catch up on life. We had mozzarella sticks, wings, a huge baked potato with shepherds salad along with dessert. Everything was really delicious and we had a good time catching up and talking

Turkish food at its best.. Service is always great. This was perfect for 2 people. Location is huge and can fit big parties as well as small. Prices are very good. Celebrated another friends birthday. There is much more options to try..And taking a stroll by the water is a plus and good exercise!

Always my go to when I'm back in Sheepshead Bay and visiting my parents! We have been coming to Opera ever since they opened (at least 10 years ago). You never need a reservation because the restaurant is HUGE. We got a table at the couches for 6 people. It was very spacious but we wish there were pillows in the couch to prop us up / feel more comfortable. The food and service is always great but wow, the portions got wayyyy smaller. We got a large shepherd salad to share for 6. When the waiter brought the large salad over, i asked if it was a small... the portions were never this small! We shared fried calves liver, shepherd salad, and calamari for appetizers. The liver was fried well with great seasoning. The calamari was fresh and crispy, but small portion. I got a whole grilled Branzino which came with a side salad. The fish was so moist and flaky. The seasoning was subtle enough to bring out the flavor of the fish. The salad went really well too with a light olive oil dressing. I love how you San taste / smell the grill on the fish skin. My husband got Alfredo pasta with chicken. Yes, we know this is a Turkish spot, but they offer some other options as well! The chicken and mushroom in the pasta was yummy and it wasn't overbearingly creamy. My mom's go to here is the octopus salad - I tried a piece of the octopus and it was cooked perfectly. Others got lamb shank, Buffalo wings, and Adana kebab. Everyone enjoyed the food. For dessert; we had to of course get Turkish tea and coffee, and their infamous cheese kunefe! Do not skip out on the cheese kunefe, it is made fresh on the spot and soooo gooooood!!!

The ambiance is tea! People that was dining was celebrating occasions, mostly birthdays & it was nice to see. The wait staff is friendly & very attentive. The food was good too, definitely will return.

My buddy wanted to eat it with pita, which we had to pay extra for.

I enjoyed having dinner at Opera. I've been here for desserts at least twice, but never for a meal. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is nice and bright, and the food tasted good. We will be back!

Nice setting, tasty food but a bit pricey for what you get... Chicken kebab over very little rice with a green salad for $29? I can't justify so I doubt i'll return but cute place and excellent service

We had lunch here last Thursday for my wife's birthday and haven't stopped raving to area friends about this gem of a stellar local business. It is my pleasure to rave to you about this awesome business. I start with its superb ambiance: the lounge atmosphere, the quality of bathrooms and interior design, its copious outdoor seating great for ambiance but also the peridemic time when we still don't want our young children to get ill especially merely for eating out, the superb famously attentive staff, its unique and delicious menu, the regularly dependable cooking, the stylish everything, and finally the overall happy feeling true to their slogan on the receipt, "A moment of joy". The outdoor seating facing Emmons is wisely done with the original seating having an open retractable roof. It is appended by some sidewalk seating which is well built up with coopious lighting and decor. There is also the C19-era outdoor seating further out on this particularly wide sidewalk area which is beautifully done with real tables and carpeting and all nicely maintained so many years after their city-wide introduction. Big kudos to the design and construction for all this area. The food is especially worth raving about with our 4 major dishes all totally deliciously hitting the mark: the lamb shank, mixed grill (5 kebabs, excellently chosen), seafood linguine (handily competes with any other, and Brooklyn is competitive for this), and chicken gyro plate. Service and staff are top notch. While some reviews joke it's overstaffed, our beloved Yuksel and the busboy Victor were to be praised. They made every request big and small so very easy. We used the bathrooms in the interior and the fanciness of the lounge concept is clear with beautiful tile, nice aromatics, dim lighting for style, very appropriately ambient music, smart layout of individual rooms each with a sink and 2 more outside of them, and copious paper supplies. Note they serve chicken gyros Mon-Thurs and lamb gyros Fri-Sun with only exceptions being the children's versions thereof). It's a wise accommodation for easier ordering and supply so their customer experience is more reliable while supply difficulties continue. We loved it and will celebrate many a future day here, bringing friends and family along in the future.

    Lentil Soup and Turkish Tea

As I was walking to this restaurant, I saw a Turkish Air flight overhead on short final into Kennedy Airport. I took that as a sign that I had to come here and enjoy the food. Thankfully the food is pretty good. The Lentil soup is plentiful, though could use a bit of flavor, and the Turkish tea I had works well as well. I ordered the popular Mixed Grill and it did not disappoint. All the meats are tender, juicy, and plentiful. I was told that this is something you are supposed to share with people, but honestly, it works as a solo dish for one person. Ordering two would only ramp up the bill gratuitously. They also give free bread which is soft, but try not to fill up on it as the meal you will receive will only make things more filling. Get yourself on the Midnight Express to this restaurant overlooking the marina on Emmons Avenue.

Came here for a weekday brunch and the place was huge with ample seating. We opted to sit outdoors and it was a beautiful atmosphere with flowers everywhere. Service was polite and they were kids friendly, offering my toddler a small kids coloring booklet with 2 packaged crayons. My baby loved sampling the bread basket which came warm and fresh. I tried the salmon eggs Benedict while my husband had the menemen, my MIL ordered the eggs florentine. The eggs Benedict were great, hearty with a side of salad and potatoes. The menemen was Turkish scrambled eggs with tomatoes and peppers; pretty basic but my husband enjoyed it with some bread. We also ordered the potato gozleme as an appetizer, a Turkish flatbread pastry filled with a thin layer of potatoes - it tasted good but portion seemed small for the price ($11). Overall, we enjoyed our meal and it's a nice place to visit while strolling Emmons Ave area.

This update is for delivery, which was genuinely superb. Don't sleep on Opera. Customer service and food are delightful. Being that I'm congested with a head cold, I began searching high and low for a place with excellent chicken soups. You know because chicken soup is really good for the soul. Opera's chicken soup was just what I needed. Full of nice pieces of chicken and carrots and the broth was perfect - not overly salty like some other places. I loved it and even have leftovers for tomorrow. Also very much enjoyed were the perfectly seasoned chicken tenders, which were more like chicken cutlets and the super flavorful French fries. Also to note that Mom really loved her chicken wrap! Thank you Opera and Door Dash for the speedy delivery and delicious and nourishing food. I'm starting to feel better already!

The quality of their food has always been top notch and honestly is my favorite spot for a Turkish meal. Their hummus and basically all their skewers, kababs and grilled meats are simply amazing. Fast forward, I haven't gone to Taci's Beyti for over a year and I just recently went for our anniversary dinner over the weekend. Place still felt the same, so I ordered my hummus, mixed grill and the chicken kebab for the misses. When The entrees arrived, I was a bit disappointed. They seem to have changed what use to come with their main entrees. Gone is the bed of thinly sliced onions under your meats, so is the roasted pepper and also the roasted tomato. Three items I actually enjoyed having with my entree. They also changed the pita under the meats as well but they replaced it with a very sad salad instead, with no dressing or even a vinaigrette at that. Just plain dry leaves with some red onions. They also have two prices now, one for cash and one for credit, the cost has gone up (which I understand) but they've also cut the portions and what use to come with it. Yes the food is still good but after that last trip I am rethinking about ever going back. I am disappointed that either through choice, greed, or whatever they decided to cut back. Time to scout and try some other Turkish restaurants in the boroughs I suppose, and no I am not leaving a one star review, their food quality and taste hasn't changed. I am just very disappointed.

Have you ever seen the misadventures of Nedim Sahin, the guy who went viral with videos at his…read moreBaruthane Pilavcisi restaurants? He claimed to taste the first spoonful of each new batch of food to ensure that it meets his mom's standards. There is a well-known Turkish proverb he quotes from - "pilavdan dönenin kaşığı kırılsın". In literal translation it's "break the cooking spoon of the pilaf maker who falters in its task". It's understood as either "see it though come hell or high water" or "bring your A-game or don't bother showing up". Eh, I wonder if the guy who served me this kofte platter at BayRidge Turkish cafe has ever heard the quote? When it came to Turkish food, certain items are universally loved, like çorba (soup) and kofte (meatballs). Çorba has such an elevated status that a commander of the Ottoman elite military corps (Janassary) is known as a çorbaci (soup man). Even today, the term is used in modern Turkish slang as "boss". There's an old saying in Turkish that the best kofte is made by your mom, but the best çorba is from the local kebab joint. What makes for good Turkish kofte? It's supposed to be fluffy juicy pillows of meat the size of say, a mini Snickers bar, made with ground beef and sometimes lamb, with some diced lamb tail fat whipped into the mixture, seasoned with sweet and savory spices like cumin, mint, coriander, mace and such, then grilled over coals. In Turkey the usual service is with a bowl of buttery Turkish lentil soup (often accompanied by their bread), ice cold Ayran, piyaz (navy bean salad), then kofte fresh off the grill, and maybe some rice pilaf (buttery rice with bits of toasted orzo within) on the side. Who does a good version in Brooklyn? Kofte Piyaz in Sunset Park - it ain't cheap, though. So what is up with this 15 dollar kofte platter I got at Bayridge cafe? Well, the size of the kofte is odd, like breakfast sausages (my wife is much less charitable on the comparison and said it looked like something from a kitty litter box). It tasted dry and shriveled up, with no flavor at all, like it was air fried once too many. The iceberg lettuce and tomato salad that came on the side just bleeds off the mediocrity. The rice is just white rice and not pilaf. The inexplicable part is when they serve up lentil soup and gave us slices of American white bread. Not toasted, not buttered, and certainly not Turkish bread. Me and my wife bursted out laughing. The soup is...serviceable, but it certainly won't make any Ottoman Sultan dance for joy or fuel warriors into battle - it tasted flat (the version that I make has tomato and pepper paste, onions, garlic and dried mint...which this didn't have) and we didn't see the usual shaker of aleppo (pul) peppers for sprinkling onto the soup to give it a kick. The bean stew that we ordered (Kuru Fasulye) was watery and without much distinctive flavors. So, eh, is this place bad per-se? Not really. Despite the disappointing kofte, it comes with a small bit of eggplant salad that was honestly not too bad. The Turkish tea was on-point (well, they used Caykur Tomurcuk, which is a Turkish Earl Grey grade) and they used a double boiler to do the tea, which means that it's legitly brewed in the Turkish fashion with the right flavors. The Tulumba wasn't nearly as good as, say...Safa in Istanbul, but it isn't a disappointingly soggy mess like the ones at Djerdan Borek or coyingly sweet with salad oil stench like the ones at Artion bakery in Astoria. It was like how you imagine a good churro would be - warm, not too oily, sweet but not too much so. Crisp exterior, honeyed interior, goes well with a cup of hot tonic Turkish tea, served strong and fragrant. So yeah, it's not hopeless. But geez, guys, save your wonderbread for the American sandwiches and toss pitas or Turkish bread with your Turkish fares, and talk to your mom about serving up proper kofte. I can excuse the soup but that kofte is a travesty. Köftedan dönenin isgaralar kırılsın - either make something worthwhile or don't bother at all.
