DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT CLEANLINESS!!!! I tried this place for the 1st time today since the closing of Tran Nailery & Spa :( And I WILL NOT be back. The place is disgusting! From the chair I sat in to the sink I washed my hands in it's filthy! Then they used the file on me that 20 other people used as well as the same instruments to do my gel polish color change. The lady doing my nails must of had some dirt or fungus under her thumbs~absolutely horrified! When I asked about if they use new clean instruments, they told me yes, however she pulled the instrument out of her drawer and put it back when she was done. How is that being cleaned from customer to customer? I got a toe nail fungus a year ago going to Avalon in Park City Mall and so help me God if I get something from this disgusting place; they will have a law suit! Tran Nailery was the cleanest place I've ever been to and I'm so sad they are no longer in business. Take it from me, don't bother wasting your money here. read more

Had a deluxe pedicure with a friend. A few things that needed to be done different to make for a more enjoyable experience ...main counter needs a paint job for better first impression , services felt very rushed. Wanted to sit back and relax and at times felt like my feet were getting thrown around. Paint job was alittle lacking and looked rushed. Overall a rating of three stars. read more

This place has services that no other in the area has. They silk wrap nails-a lost art, in my opinion. I only need to get my nails done every 3 weeks because the polish does not chip. Kim also does eyelash extensions that look real. The are connected to eyelid, not on lashes-the difference is that they will curl up like natural lashes. She takes her time to do this tedious job. (Up to 2 hours for a whole set). She also does 1/2 sets which also look great. read more

I would have to agree with Lisa E's first review. I have heard good things about this place, so I came in here a few weeks ago for a gel mani and pedicure. Initially coming in, the experience was good. I was immediately taken to the nail polish selection by the woman who would do my gel mani, and was shown the newest polishes. She was very helpful, although extremely pushy about which color I should choose. I didn't like that so much, but she was nice and I liked that she painted on colors I was interested in on my nails to see if I actually wanted that color. I was also given a choice of beverages to choose from which I thought was nice. From then on, it got weird. First of all, I had a younger woman who did my pedicure who was really nice. I liked her. But what I did not like was that UV lamps were placed on my lap so that the gel mani could be done at the same time as my pedicure. I have never experienced this before. It felt like they just wanted to rush through and at times it was uncomfortable. I like to feel relaxed when I'm getting my nails done and this was not the case. The woman who did my mani did not shape my nails well at all. They were so obviously jagged and uneven and the whole process was rushed. I asked her to fix some of my nails that looked the worst, and I could tell she was a little annoyed but didn't want to upset a customer, so she tried to fix it, but it didn't get much better. The shape of my nails looked terrible. Also, she got a good amount of gel polish on my finger pads. It was really, really disappointing. I wanted to have positive thoughts on this place, since it got so many positive reviews, but the experience and quality of the work was disappointing. My gel mani started chipping within 2 days, and usually they last a couple weeks for me. My pedicure also started chipping within the same time frame. Overall, I don't know why this place has so many good reviews. I would not come back, and would look elsewhere for mani/pedis. read more

I got a French manicure and pedicure here before a wedding. It took nearly two hours and was $50. I was happy with the pedicure but the manicure started cracking/chipping all over the next day. I have never seen anything like it. Waste of time and money. read more

finally!! we found our place.....too! we will be making the hr drive each month to come back to this place! this place, for the price, can demolish the competition from anywhere even the city! we are used to paying 35$ for a pedi and are even lucky to receive a decent foot massage. !!THIS PLACE GIVES SO MUCH MORE FOR THE PRICE!! i love the hot wax dip that normally wouldve cost 10$ extra. its included!! i was also offered wine and then a refill. INCLUDED TOO!! the massage wasnt rushed. i also find myself quiet in places like this because the conversation tends to be awkward, atleast for me. NOT THIS PLACE!! we were laughing our ass's off. these girls were fun, friendly and shocked when i told them they received 5 stars from yelp. Let me just start by saying I'm usually one who only ever leaves positive reviews if I ever do. Always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I've tried Onyx 2 times to not rule it out after one visit. Both times I left with the same outcome feeling very frustrated and quite upset with the owner and environment there. Take the time to read and you'll understand why. It's a $$ nail salon trying to become a full service salon. They added hair services charging $$$$$ high end hair salon prices in a 2 star salon environment. After checking out and paying my bill, I was then was told "oh wait, it's $5 more for this and $20 more for that". This was after payment was complete and I'm getting ready to walk out the door. (has happened twice on two separate occasions). To top it off, I called the salon 3 weeks prior to my last appointment to find out exactly how much their services would be because this happened the first time I came. Yet it happened again. The owner is not at all about customer service. Found her to be curt and all about the money. Onyx is known as a nail salon yet charges prices you would see in high end boutique salons in this area (actually Onyx prices are even higher than a top high end salon in Lancaster). When you pay $55 for a haircut in this area, you're paying for the entire experience. None of which Onyx delivers. Everyone, including nail customers and staff, walk right in between the two stylists stations while they are doing your hair. One employee even walked right through carrying his what looked like soup to eat. The entire salon also needs a good cleaning. Everywhere I looked it needed dusted, vacuumed and wiped off. It's a shame too because the stylist who did my hair does a great job. Other than my experience with the stylist my experience with everything else was terrible. Will not be back read more

Love this place! Great manicures that last (I get gel manicures) along with a friendly staff. Also very clean! I was having a rough time finding a place in the area (I am from northern NJ where there are great/cheap nail salons on every block) but this is comparable to home! Went to Onyx for the first time for a manicure and pedicure. They did my manicure and pedicure at the same time. There are two nail techs working at your hands and feet at the same time. It was a very odd experience. I was offered a beverage and requested water, but it was never provided to me. They laid a washcloth on my lap and balanced a bowl of cold water for me to soak my nails while they also worked on my toes. It was very odd and not relaxing at all. The paraffin they used was exceptionally hot and seemed dirty. The woman giving me the pedicure was especially rough with my feet. The polish to both my nails and toes was sloppy. During the services, two employees approached me and asked me if I wanted to add on a massage to my service. The one woman gave me about a 5 minute sales pitch and kept bugging me for a chair massage. When the services were completed I was led to a dryer. No one set a timer or told me how long to dry. The woman didn't even thank me- she just walked away. Then as I was walking to the front desk to pay for my service, a woman came running in, and started yelling, "You pay!" In no way was I attempting to leave, I was approaching the desk to pay. The icing on the cake was when I paid and I asked to leave a tip on my credit card. The woman said "No tip on cards!" then she pointed to a small sign, behind the desk that was barely visible. She suggested I walk to a gas station, two doors down the street, to an ATM to get cash for a tip. No thank you. I felt badly not tipping, but I was not about to walk to a gas station to accommodate their odd tip policy. I get my nails done frequently, and I have to say this is one of the dirtiest and least relaxing nail salons I have ever been to. I will never go back!!! A group of us went here the day before my wedding.. No one informed us of a 20% gratuity for a wedding party that had to be paid in CASH... I asked for gel I got acrylic. I asked 3 times for a fake toe nail because one of mine was ripped off. Didn't get one. I was screamed at by the lady that gave me a pedicure because I told her I had to go because I would be late for my rehearsal and tried getting out of my chair... $118 for a full set acrylic nails and a sub par pedicure. The most horrible nail salon experience I ever had. I brought in my entire bridal party as well as my Mom and Aunt and was really unhappy with the way they treated me. I did not like the nail color because even after two coats it was still sheer and I wanted it to be opaque and they did not tell me this color wasn't going ot be opaque and the owner/manager basically yelled at me while i was sitting in the chair and said it was my fault and that it would cost $10 just to remove the nail polish. Seriously?!?! I bourght EIGHT people in for nails and I was the BRIDE...she literally made me cry. I have never had such a poor customer service experience in my entire life. She also decided to tell me at the VERY END...not while I booked the appointment on the phone that everyone was REQUIRED to give a 20% tip. You can imagine I didn't want to tip at all after that but gave the 20% anyway as I was just so frustrated and wanted to get out of there. The funniest part is I am not even a huge nails person that gets their nails done every week. I went here because of other Yelp reviews but I am warning other bridal parties DO NOT GO HERE...there are many other great places (I realized after I did more research) for nails that have far superior customer service. I went to this salon for the first time with a friend. I was not at all impressed. The two of us were basically rushed out. The bridal party that had the appointment booked after ours arrived a half hour early. Our pedicures were done by multiple employees going back and forth with other clients and our manicures were done in the chair during our pedicures so the nail techs were standing over us the whole time. Not a relaxing visit at all. My friend had booked this appointment for us 2 months ahead of time but my friend was told the day before that a bridal party recently booked an appointment one hour after our appointment and it would be good if we could get there an hour earlier than our scheduled appointment. My friend already had another appointment elsewhere for that time and it could not be changed at the last minute like that. Basically that is why we were rushed. On top of that, two of the nail techs were arguing and yelling at each other in a foreign language while one of them was working on my nails and the other doing someone elses pedicure. Very unprofessional. The nail techs also get very annoyed when you have a hard time understanding what they are saying because of their thick accent. Most of the nail techs were not very friendly either. It gets even better. When we went to pay for the services which were pricey as it is, we had a 20% gratuity added on automatically because my friend was a bride to be, getting married over the weekend and I was in the bridal party. We had no extra "perks" with the services. In my eyes, 20% gratuity was not deserved and being forced to pay that is ridiculous. It should be based on service. Credit cards are accepted but tips have to be in cash. Big disappointment. Never again. read more

I arranged for 4 people from a bridal party to get manis and pedis. I was told that I had to reserve the time with a credit card and that an automatic 20% gratuity would be added to each persons total. I was told that if we didn't show up for our appointment they would charge $100 to my credit card for a no show. I said never mind, we can find another place to get our nails done. First, it was a Thursday night in November, it's not like we were trying to hog their busy weekend time. Second we were told we would have the whole place to ourselves, not that we cared if there were other people there. They rushed through our manicures and pedicures, there were other people there getting their nails done so we didn't have the place to ourselves, and we were still forced with a 20% gratuity for bad work. I was at Onyx one other time before the wedding appointment and it was ok. They definitely showed favoritism! I will not be going there ever again. I was disappointed. I read tons of the Yelp reviews before deciding, why not! I'm going to try this place out. Well, it was a crappy experience. I got there, and was shuffled around by a few people, none of which really addressed me as a person. I picked out a color and waited to be helped while people kept walking past me. Then, it was finally my turn. The girl who started my pedicure said all of two words to me the entire time. She was more interested in gossiping and talking about going to the mall later with a co-worker. Umm...rude and unprofessional...you should probably address your client every now and then. Then, a different girl did my leg/foot massage which was the best part. Lastly, ANOTHER person painted my toes in about five minutes. They totally rushed and again, no one spoke to me. So this was already strange! 3 people worked on me for one pedicure. I didn't understand how I was supposed to tip them, but I didn't need to. After not being spoken too, and having to get up and find my way around a place I'd never been to before in order to find where to pay, I was just ready to leave. I hate to write a negative review, however I would also hate for someone to receive the same experience I have at this salon. This salon is very convenient for me since I work close by, I have gone 4 times and I do not think I will ever be going back. I have gotten a gel pedicure 3 times - their cost is at least $10 more than other salons in the area, and while they do an "OK" job with a nice massage it certainly does not merit the extra fee. Additionally I have been charged 3 different rates for the SAME service each time I've gone!! Do they think that because I am not a "regular" customer they can charge more? I was also charged $25 for only a polish change, which is the price that most salons charge for a full fill in service. None of their costs are listed so customers are not aware in advance what the fees are. In my opinion, the services were not worth what they charge - $75 for a polish change and a pedicure, no thanks! read more
