I wish I could give it more stars but they don't follow the mask requirements that strictly. I was so disgusted to see some of their employees without mask standing behind the counter especially when one of them was coughing into their hands! I do see their servers with mask but a lot of them were wearing them incorrectly (some with their nose out and some under their chin). Doesn't give me much confidence about their pandemic precaution.. They did earn some of their stars for the desserts. I was very disappointed about the experience in this place.. the waitress was ridiculously rude, and literally was rolling her eyes when I asked the large size of tea in a to-go cup while I was sitting in the cafe.. then she commented that the price for the tea will be as if it was in regular cup lol I was like okay, I had no idea about the difference in price for the tea depending if you order it to-go or stay inside ..and the funniest thing was that I did not even have a menu to see the prices in general since the waitress never gave it to me haha I asked the bowl of water for a dog and she did not bring it, I had to ask a busboy and I got it by the end of my meal..So the service was terrible. Omonia is a neighborhood staple to satisfy a sweet tooth, or have a drunken meal at 3am before calling it a night after bar hopping in the neighborhood. Their sweets are good, but nothing particularly special. Coffees and cordials are also subpar (how do you make a bad iced coffee). Their brunch is a good deal, but none of the menu items are particularly great and I don't find their Greek food very authentic. Service here is incredibly slow, despite the number of servers and slow hours in the restaurant. This is particularly annoying when you are just coming in for coffee and cake. The restaurant itself is beautiful and can be a nice dessert spot with a loved on or a vent session with a friend. The only positive thing about this place is that it's open after hours. I have ordered a few meals from here that came with fries and every time, they were the absolute worse fries ever. Cold with no flavor. I am shocked they sell them as is and haven't received complaints which would have caused them to switch up the recipe. I dare someone to try them and tell me otherwise. This place has a huge counter filled with various cakes and desserts, none of which are spectacular, and of which I've tried (except for the baklava cheesecake) have been old, stale, and tasted like stuff left uncovered in the back of an old refrigerator. In other words, not good. Stuff either sits here behind the glass case for way too long and is never fresh, or I've just happened to pick the one old item 5-10x in a row. Going to go with option A. Maybe getting freshly made to order desserts would result in a better experience? I don't really know. Having also had the regular food here, I can't say it was worth it either. Was craving for Baklava, so went to this place. The Baklava slice is huge. It was good. Also tried the Kataifi for the first time, but i guess that was the last time too. The texture of the shredded pastry did not sit well with me and i found it dry, probably why it's best eaten with syrup. You can order ice cream on the side too. I also need to be more familiar with how the Greeks ordered their coffee. We were expecting big cups, but both our orders came in espresso cup shots. It's a staple and been around for decades... I remember I went my first time when I was 20. They are open late and serve food, drinks, and dessert with a very extensive menu. I have family members that own bakeries and not to be bias but the desserts at Omonia are not that great if you know what certain quality desserts actually taste like. The staff is cool... the interior is nice and was definitely updated since I last visited 15 years ago. I think the place is a great spot for maybe a first date or just an after dinner drink or if you don't know much about dessert, somewhere to go after a meal in the area... Came here for brunch with a friend on Saturday. The place is nice and busy with a great selection of pastries and baked goods. We both ordered the sunny side up eggs. The portion size was great and the food tasted okay but was very overpriced. Also, my friend's food came with a small eggshell right on top of the yolk that should have been noticed before serving. I came here because they had a restaurant.com voucher. The waiting time is extrememly slow. We waited so long that the desserts on display looked yummy and we ordered a slice of red velet cake. Nothing special taste-wise, but I did regret not getting something that was unique. But we did enjoy watching another family celebrate their birthday with firework-candles. It was so nice that the smoke alarms went off! When our food came half an hour later... We got the Steak with roasted potatoes and the mushroom Swiss burger with fries. The food and drinks are delicious. The decor and interior are pleasant and aesthetically pleasing. However, in the evening, the back area is poorly lit, and it can get really loud so good luck trying to have an intimate dinner/conversation if you're on a date. By biggest gripe with this place is the service. Yes, the waiters/waitresses are all nice people but the service is unbelievably slow. Whether it's their fault or the kitchens, or management, time is an issue at this establishment. Every time I come here, it takes over 20 minutes to get our check, and then another 10-15 minutes to get our change/card back. It's unbelievable, I understand they get very busy, I've worked in food service for several years, but they need to be more organized. You'd think they'd be a lot faster, what with at least 10 employees on the floor, but it's so chaotic. It's difficult to even catch a waiters attention. Their staff need to be trained, and management needs to make sure dinner service is running smoothly. Don't come here in the evening if you're under a time constraint/ schedule. This newly renovated space is amazing! Their selection of desserts is impressive and I want to try them all! They have a great upstairs space that would be perfect for private parties and an outdoor space that is great for the summer. Too bad it was raining on the day that I went so I will just have to go back! I tried the baklava cheesecake and it was deelissh! The menu was several pages long and while it was expansive, it seemed a bit like a diner menu and too expansive.
